"Wait!" Marinette shouted. "How long do you expect us to just stay here?"
"Oh don't worry! There will be breaks between showings and food provided. This might take a while so sleep time has also been scheduled for you. Time doesn't move here, so aging isn't a problem." Everyone felt their sweat drop. "So sit down and let this get started."
"I'd like a fruit salad, please." Rose said while raising a hand. "I missed breakfast." Showtime just covers her face with her beret before snapping her fingers.
"Here, meet FF, he will be your server for your stay here. Name is pronounced as F2 but written as FF. Yadda yadda- Can I get started already!?" Some others ordered snacks and drinks and FF left to get them. Arriving back almost instantly with a cart of everything ordered, he handed everyone their order before leaving as fast as he arrived.
"No one needs anything else… right?" Adrien slowly started to raise his hand. "WHAT?!"
"Well, Can we talk while watching?"
"Yes." Without waiting, Showtime lifts a remote and presses play. "Some people's backgrounds may be different in what you watch, so feel free to ask me if you're curious."
A white glove reaches out of darkness toward a gem sitting on a cushion. The second the hand touches the gem, a flashlight illuminates the figure grasping it, revealing a man in a white cap and top hat wearing a mask with glowing red eyes.
"Who's there?!" A security guard yells out. The figure throws the cape aside to reveal that they have no body at all.
"Th-There's… n-no body!" The floating head jumps out the window and flies out into the moonlit night sky.
"An akuma?!" Sabrina yelled.
"It's gotta be. I mean I don't think normal people have no bodies." Kim scratches his head. Max denies this.
"No, we might be able to but this is another universe. Things might be different."
"Oh maybe this place has different types of living beings!" Nathaniel exclaims excitedly.
"But those two guards didn't look like they were looking at something normal."
The news bulletin and articles online read Kaitou Kid is back with a picture of the caped floating head.
"So we are going to watch a phantom thief?" Kagami muses.
"Oh it's just a thief." Alya sighs slightly disappointed. Nino rubs her back.
"Hey, don't be too down, Als maybe this is something more exciting."
"Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it."
"Hey, Marinette, Have you seen the news?" A girl asks a sitting Marinette who is in a plain blue school sailor uniform. She has her long hair free flowing, bangs cut short with the rest of it reaching the middle of her back.
"That's Marinette?!" Alya yells, shocked at her best friend's look. Marinette turns to look at her.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She raises an eyebrow. Alya quickly looks sheepish.
"Nothing."
"Yeah. You mean about Kaitou Kid, right?" The girl backs up slightly revealing she is wearing glasses and has brown hair up in a twintail hairstyle.
"Yeah! Don't you think he's kind of cool?" The girl grasps her hands together.
"Not as cool as me, though, right?" Adrien appears behind Marinette leaning over her. "Morning Marinette!"
"Adrien! G-good morning!"
"Here's the main star, it's my boy Adrien!" Nino hollers and claps. Everyone who knows Nino just claps along and chuckles, and those who don't look bemused.
"Girl. Even in another world, you stutter around him." Marinette blushes and hides her face behind her pigtails. Adrien gives her a quick discrete side hug that only Rose and Socqueline notices. Those two are currently trying to not squeal at the cute gesture.
"Something feels different about Adrien…" Luka mutters to himself.
Adrien's head suddenly starts jerking to the side with a creaking noise.
"A-Adrien?" Marinette asks, a bit freaked out. The head suddenly completes a full 360 turn, the eyes a bit askew.
"What color are they today?" Marinette is confused.
"What the-?" Adrien is also confused. To be fair almost everyone is, other than Markov.
"It is a false head, similar to those used by stage magicians. No need to worry." That settled most of them down. Except for Marinette.
'What did he mean by that? What color…?'
"Pop!" The fake head shouted as it popped off and started hovering on Marinette's desk.
"Spin-spin-spin-spin! Boo!" It spewed out a party streamer out of its mouth.
"White, huh?" Adrien's real head is shown looking under the desk between Marinette legs, which she firmly clasps together.
"HUH!?" Marinette burst into a red blushing mess with Adrien not to fair behind. Everyone else is stunned silent and blushing. At least until Adrien speaks without thinking.
"White, huh?" Marinette quickly puts him into a headlock. "I'm sorry! I don't know why I said that!"
"Oh, I'll show you sorry!" Rubbing her knuckles onto his scalp for a good 30 seconds.
"Don't be like that Marinette." Marinette pauses her punishment. "You would be over the moon if that happened to you."
"Just continue it already!" She still hadn't released Adrien from his confinement and wouldn't until she would stop blushing.
"White is great! Nice and pure!" Adrien chuckles from his handstand position.
"Adrien, you little…" Marinette pouts with her fists clenched. Adrien flips back onto his feet.
"Don't threaten me with such a familiar tone. I'd hate for people to think we were married."
"Married?!"
"Hey! What's so bad about being married to Marinette?" Socqueline accuses Adrien.
"I didn't say that!" Adrien pleas from Marinette's hold.
"Well as long as you know better." Socqueline harrumphs.
"I'd hate for people to think that, too!" Marinette says as she throws a chair at him. "You're the one who's overly familiar, always calling me 'Marinette'! I don't want anyone to think we're going out!"
"Always with the denials, girl." Alya shakes her head. The other girls in the class also nod. Marinette just groans in embarrassment.
"Excuse me, class has already started." The teacher who has already started writing a complex math formula on the blackboard says.
"Shut up!" Adrien says to Marinette, dodging Marinette's mop attack.
"Adrien Grassette! Solve this equation!"
"Grassette?" Marinette mumbles confused, releasing Adrien.
"Huh? But that can't be… My father changed his last name from that to create the Gabriel Brand."
"Really dude?"
"Yeah. My mom told me that it was a way to get more brand recognition in his early years. But if I have that name, does that mean… my father didn't start Gabriel?"
"We can just ask…" They looked at Showtime, who seemed to be in the middle of a nap. "Nevermind."
"No problem! 2xy…" Adrien throws a playing card at the blackboard. "Squared!" The card wedges itself into the board.
"That's… correct." THe teacher's dumbfounded for a second.
"What's the big deal?! They're just your panties!" He says, jumping around and rolling on the back shelf as Marinette tries to hit him with the mop.
"It is a big deal!"Marinette yells.
"Then what about this equation?! Dupain-Hodo Marinette!" Still focusing on Adrien, Marinette answers.
"The root of 3x over 2!"
"That's correct…" The teacher hunches over in despair.
"Wait! Dupain-Hodo?! What happened to my mom?!" Marinette cries out.
"I'll answer that." Showtime adjusts the beret on her head. "In this world, your mom's family is Japanese instead of Chinese. I'll elaborate on other things as they come."
"So this is Japan." Kagami speaks. "I was wondering why everything felt familiar. But now I'm left wondering…" She looks at everyone in the room. "How are all of you understanding the Japanese that they are speaking?"
"I gave them the temporary ability to understand Japanese." Almost everyone broke into excitement.
"Wha-"
"Really!"
"Cool!"
"Awesome dude!"
"Yes, yes. I know."
"But still it's impressive that the both of you can fight and do complicated math in an instant like that." Fei Wu says. "Kinda reminds me of… nevermind." She shakes her head.
"Hold it right there, Marinette." Adrien says holding out a deck of cards and begins to shuffle them. "Tell me when to stop."
"S-stop." Adrien stops and hands one card to Marinette and keeps one to put over his own head. Marinette copies him. Everyone in class starts to laugh at Marinette's card which says 'Marinette's wearing white panties'. She takes the card off the top of her head and reads it. She immediately turns red in embarrassment. Adrien is standing over another classmate away from Marinette.
"Adrien! I'm sick of your shenanigans!"
"Now that feels familiar…" Adrien whispers to himself as the others around him laugh.
"Did you say something, Adrien?" Rose asks, clearing from her own little giggling fit.
"Ah. No, just thinking to myself." Adrien clasps his hands. 'Where are you My Lady?'
Adrien shrugs. "It's your fault for falling for them! My magic is the greatest on Earth. Nobody can beat me-" Marinette takes another swing at him. He jumps up and sticks to the ceiling.
"Not even you could beat Kaitou Kid, Adrien!" She points her broom at him.
"Kaito Kid?"
"The thief who uses magic tricks! Haven't you heard of him?"
"Hn, He he he, I don't know about any Kaitou Kid but if that guy goes up against me…" Adrien's string holding him snaps and he falls down and seems to put on glasses as a disguise.
"Prepare to be swabbed!"
"W-wait! I'm not Adrien!" 'Adrien' said, waving his arms.
"Yeah, right! Are you supposed to be in disguise with those glasses?" Marinette pokes him with the broom. "You can't hold a candle to Kaitou Kid with a crappy trick like that!"
"Sorry! I'll try a better trick next time!" Adrien says from the front of the classroom.
"That level of sleight of hand is impressive." Alix comments. "Think you could do that Adrien?"
"The card tricks yeah, but I don't know how the double was made or when he attached the string to his back."
"How?!"
"Before, Adrien…" The student wearing glasses pulls off a mask.
"Huh? It was you, Yamada-kun?!"
"Interesting. I think I'll challenge that Kaitou Kid to a showdown!" Adrien tosses a deck of cards into the air. Some cards stick to the ceiling with words written on them that read 'Konno-sensei is wearing navy blue panties'.
"Should we be worried Adrien? Do you look up skirts too?" Kagami asks. Adrien is flabbergasted.
"Wha-no! Besides, only you and Rose wear skirts and even then you both wear leggings."
"So you have eh~." Socqueline smirks from beside Marinette.
"Tha-that wasn't what I meant at all!" Adrien squeaked. Marinette rolled her eyes.
"Don't worry Adrien, they're just teasing you."
"Adrien-kun! I've had it up to her with your mis…" Adrien grabs Konno-sensei's hand and kisses it. "...chief."
"Sensei, Adrien Grassette must leave early today due to an important mission that has arisen." Konno-sensei blushed and held her face with her hands.
"G-good luck."
"I'll catch that rascally Kaitou Kid, see if I don't!" Adrien walks to a window and jumps out. Marinette runs to the window to see a blue rope being pulled from where it was tied. Adrien starts blowing kisses toward his classmates from the ground floor.
"Adrien is much more… confident here. I wonder what's different." Luka says.
"Yeah. Reminds me of Chat Noir a bit." Marc says as he writes in his note book. Nathaniel blinks.
"You're right. That's a strange coincidence." Marinette perks up hearing the two comic makers talk.
'... Could it be?' She looks next to her to see Adrien smiling. 'Nah, can't be.'
"What, you think you're a secret agent?! You won't beat him!" She yells at him waving her fist. "Not even my dad's ever caught him!"
The scene switches to a police station where a detective is yelling. "Inspector! Inspector Dupain!" The Inspector is shown to be smoking a pipe. "We've gotten evidence of Suwa Corporation embezzlement! Now we can send them to the prosecutors!"
"My dad is a police officer?" Marinette asks bewildered. "And he smokes? Why is he a police officer?"
"Not just a police officer but an inspector!" Sabrina gushes.
"Uh… what's the difference?" Kim asks, not understanding.
"A police officer usually refers to what my dad usually does, but an inspector is more like a detective."
"Oohhh. I don't get it."
"...Ah nevermind." Sabrina deflated.
"To answer your question Marinette, he became an Inspector after having a falling out with both of his parents and moving to Japan with your Mother." Showtime answers.
"Hot-hot-hot!" Inspector Dupain burns his finger on the match.
"This is no time to be sitting around watching TV! There are a lot of other cases!"
"I staked my whole career on Kaitou Kid! He's my reason for living!" Inspector Dupain smacks his hand on the table.
"Y-yes, sir!" On the tv in the corner of the room, a news broadcast plays about Kaitou Kid.
-Kaitou Kid is back! There were rumors that Kid had died, but he's come back after eight years! THe phantom thief has indeed reappeared!-
"So he was still alive…" Inspector Dupain chuckles. "I've been waiting for you for eight years, seven months, and 26 days!"
-We just received a message from Kid! He says he's going to steal the Eve of the Moon jewel from Ono Bank at 11:54 tonight!-
"Kaitou Kid…" Inspector Dupain says, tearing up the document in his hands to the dismay of his co-workers. "This and this and this is what I'm gonna do to you!" He tosses the shreds of paper into the air. "Just you wait, Kid! I swear the great Inspector Tom Dupain will arrest you!"
"Wow. He has the time down to the day." Marinette sweat dropped. "He's… a bit obsessed huh?"
"Well he is your father after all." Alix says.
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
-What is the phantom thief's true Identity?- Adrien turns off the Tv in his room.
"Eight years ago… That's when Dad died." He thinks back to when Marinette said even he couldn't beat Kaitou Kid. "That's what she thinks! There's only one magician in the world I'm no match for." He walks over to the poster of his father, who is in a stage magician outfit. "Gabi Grassette, my dad."
"Wait! My dad's dead?!" Adrien is distraught. Marinette and Rose both try to comfort him as he processes this revelation. After he calms down, he asks.
"My dad was a magician? That's really weird, why?"
"He became a magician before he met your mother. She was in a tough situation, so he continued as a magician to help her as a result he never got into fashion and as a result of that the Gabriel Brand was never born." Showtime answers.
"Aww~ That's so sweet." Rose swoons in place.
"But why was Mom in a tough situation?"
"Because she isn't from a rich noble family here and had to look for jobs."
Adrien thinks back to one of his Father's shows. Gabi Grassette walks on stage without a word, spreading his arms before raising one finger and making a woman sitting in the audience float above her table.
"That's my dad! Awesome, isn't he?" Young Adrien says to young Marinette.
"I know he's your dad! But that doesn't make you awesome, Adrien!"
"What?! Here's what a sassy girl like you gets.." Adrien reaches over to Marinette but before he reaches her his chair starts floating.
"Looks like Adrien and Marinette have been childhood friends for a while now." Zoe comments. "Instead of Chloe, that is."
"Now, now. One must never bully a lady. Do you understand, young man?" Gabi gently admonishes Adrien.
"G-got it!"
"All right. Good boy." Snapping his fingers, the chair falls back down to the ground. He reaches his hand out to Marinette and with a flick of his wrist makes a dove appear. THe audience loves it.
"So cool!" Adrien whispers. After the show, Adrien is sitting on his father's lap as he plays a game of cards.
"Adrien, so you know what a 'poker face' is?"
"'Poker face?'"
"When playing poker, whether you're dealt good cards or bad, you must never show it on your face. It's the same with magic. Call." Gabi spreads his hand of cards on the table showing a royal flush, impressing the other players. "Listen Adrien. Remember your poker face at all times."
'It seems Adrien has a better relationship with his Dad here. That's good for him.' Luka thinks to himself.
"Awww. Isn't he adorable, Marinette?" Rose asks. Marinette nods resolutely, embarrassing Adrien.
"Yeah. Poker face." Adrien agrees. In the present, Adrien is still looking at the portrait of his father. "Dad..." The frame of the portrait shifts a little, prompting Adrien to touch it. He falls through making the portrait spin around to another picture of Gabi but this one is wearing a white suit, top hat and monocle.
"Adrien! You forgot your backpack!" Marinette calls out from her balcony across from Adrien's room.
"Guess that explains why you two are childhood friends here." Zoe leans back. "But what a weird thing to have in your room. A full portrait of your dad that's also a secret entrance."
"It's not that weird. My dad has a portrait of my mom in his office." Adrien explains. Max thinks back to when they had a party in the Agreste Mansion.
"...Maybe your dad has a secret entrance hidden at your place. Remember when we had that party, there was the power supply that was way out of proportion for what the house needed even with the security features it had."
"No way my dad… I- well maybe?" Adrien thinks for a moment. "Well, he doesn't leave his office except to go to sleep and eat. So I guess I don't really know what happens in his office." Juleka mumbles something.
"Yeah that's right Juleka! Don't worry about it Adrien, it's just a thought. I mean your dad is the most likely to have a secret lair out of all our parents but that doesn't mean anything." Rose reassures Adrien.
"Yeah, okay." Adrien lets out a sigh. 'But that still unsettles me for some reason. My father… Ladybug suspected him of being Hawkmoth but then he was akumatized. So he should be clear, right?'
"Huh? Adrien?" Marinette is confused holding up Adriens backpack. Adrien meanwhile falls into an armchair in the dark. The garage lights up revealing a car, a shelf filled with bottles, a clock in the shape of gear, and a jukebox. The jukebox starts up by itself.
"It's been a while Adrien."
"Th-That's dad's voice! It was set to play automatically when I entered this room?" Adrien has sweat on his forehead. "That's my dad."
"Is your father this prepared usually… Adrien, right?" Fei asks Adrien. He rubs the back of his head.
"Technically yes but that's because of Natalie. By the way, it is nice to see you again Fei."
Back with Marinette, she complains about Adrien to herself.
"Sheesh! That jerk…" She sits on her bed. "At this rate he'll never stop teasing me." Getting up, she walks over to her laptop. "Oh, I know!" She quickly calls someone on video call.
"Oh, Marinette-chan!" Adrien's Mother, Emilie, answers, setting down her tea cup. "What's wrong? Did my Adrien get in trouble again?"
"Mom…" Adrien whispers. "She's alive."
"And apparently in contact with Marinette." Alix points out.
"No. This time, I wanted to ask you a little favor, Emilie-san."
"Oh, what is it?" Marinette gets on her hands and knees.
"Please! Tell me Adrien's weakness! I'll never ask you for anything else!"
"Say, Marinette-chan, you disappeared!"
"Pfft! Still as extra as ever, Marinette!" Alix burst out laughing with a few others. Marinette blushes.
"I'm not that bad."
"I can't take it anymore! Every single day, he tells everyone my panties'…" Marinette gets up from the floor.
"Your panties'?"
"N-never mind. Anyway, please tell me Adrien's weakness! Anything at all!" She begs.
"His weakness, huh? Well, there is one thing he can't stand."
"What is it?!"
"That's… C-come a little closer." Emilie waves Marinette closer to the screen. "Put your ear by the camera."
"O-Okay…" She leans in and listens to what Emilie says. "Th-That? But that's strange. I've taken that out in front of him but he didn't seem to have a problem with it. Why, Emilie-san? Why is that Adrien's weakness?"
"I'm sorry, Marinette-chan. I'm on my way now to see a magic show. I'll talk to you again." Emilie stops the call and leaves a french coffee shop.
"Wait… As always, she does everything at her own pace. In fact, where is she?"
"Is she… in Paris?" Adrien asks.
"I guess she is." Ondine says. "That place looks familiar."
"Oh! I know where that is. It's a few streets from my lycée." Socqueline exclaims.
Adrien was listening to his father's record vinyls. "Adrien, I'm going to teach you the secret of being a magician."
"Magician?! Dad, you wanted me to be a magician?"
"To begin with, do you know what the most important thing for a magician is?"
"Most important thing?" The record ends there and a closet appears out from under the floor and opens to reveal a white suit, top hat and cape.
"Th-that's…" A cane falls down and rolls to Adrien's feet. He picks it up and twists the top, making a glider appear. "Th-this is just like…"
At the police station, Inspector Dupain's voice is heard speaking as officers are rushing to their cars. "Listen! A white cape and matching silk hat are Kaitou Kid's trademarks! Don't forget it!" He buckles himself in and places a red siren on the roof of his car. "I haven't been this pumped in years!"
Back with Adrien, who has started putting on the suit. "Dad… Who were you?!" He puts on the cape and hat. "Maybe I'll find out if I meet that Kaitou Kid. That panel opened after eight years. Gabi Grassette's last magic trick…" Adrien poses in the moonlight with a blocky looking gun. "Then I'll solve that final trick…" He pulls the trigger and shoots an Ace of Spades card.
"Wait- Wait Wait- Is my dad in this…?" Adrien starts and Kagami grimaces.
"It seems to be the case."
"And I'm going to dress up as him?"
"Yeah, that's what you're doing." Socqueline says.
"Oh." Showtime snorts.
"Cool. You've finally caught on." FF walks back in and whispers something into Showtime's ear. "I have an announcement to make. A gift shop has been set up in the lobby next to the concession stand. During intermission you may purchase from there."
"With what money?" Alix sarcastically asks.
"Oh, I don't take money." Showtime explains. "Instead, you'll put yourself in the hot seat and be shown in… Let's just say you might be put into a very difficult situation to view."
"What would even be worth that? It just sounds like a bad idea." Zoe says.
"Oh just records of previous worlds you've seen, music based on those worlds and even items that show up in those worlds."
"So, If I were to join in this thing, I might get that car?" Kim says perking up.
"Yes, and even the chance to learn skills your alternate knows." The group of teens start getting excited. "Calm down. It'll be a bit before you can go, so sit and keep watching."
Inspector Dupain stands next to a large gem in a glass case and checks his watch. "It's almost the appointed time. Everyone, be on high alert!"
"Yes, sir!"
'Eight more seconds. Seven… Six… Five…' A tied up guard is shown in his undershirt and boxers as someone puts on the uniform. '... Four… Three… Two… One!' Adrien is sitting on a tower and says "Zero!" The masked man pulls a switch, turning off all the light in the building.
"Emergency Lights!" Inspector Dupain yells as the thief approaches the gem. "Turn on the emergency lights!" Glass shatters behind him.
"Bastard! What are you doing?!" A guard flashes a light on the thief who swipes the gem and runs.
"Kaitou Kid! That's him! He's back! Hey!" The thief jumps out of a window and hits a car on ground level.
"Oh my God!" Rose looks horrified at seeing someone jump out a window. Most of the others were similarly horrified. Some however were more skeptical about what they saw. Marinette, Kagami, Fei, Juleka and Luka all felt something was off. Juleka however says softly to herself, "Wild."
"Below! That fool. There are officers everywhere down there!"
"Inspector Dupain! It's a dummy!" A ground floor officer reports on his radio.
Everyone let out sighs of relief, hearing that.
"What?! Where did he escape to?!" He says, leaning out the hole in the window. As he looks back in the room, a figure is shown climbing up the building above the hole. "He may still be in this room! Search every inch of it!"
Reaching the top of the roof the thief runs into Adrien dressed as Kaitou Kid.
"You dropped a dummy while you went to the roof, huh?"
"Huh?"
"That's an old trick. You do the name of a phantom thief a disservice."
"W-Who the hell are you?!" The thief's gravelly voice yells out. Adrien stands up, posing in front of the moon as his cape flaps in the wind.
"I've been waiting for you, Kaitou Kid-chan."
"This Adrien is really dramatic about his appearance." Alya sweat drops. Luka chuckles softly.
'Almost as much as Chat Noir.'
"Inspector Dupain! He isn't in this room!" One officer reports.
"Let's put up a cordon right away!" Another suggests.
"Wait a second… He really did escape outside… So that only leaves…" He says looking up at the ceiling.
"Damn girl! Your dad saw through that double exit pretty quickly." Alya says.
"Hehe. My dad is pretty smart sometimes." Marinette blushes slightly.
Adrien floats down to the thief's level. "Then can you figure out this magic trick?" The thief quickly takes off the uniform revealing absolutely no body beneath it. Adrien let out a choked sound of surprise.
'Calm down!' He thinks back to his dad's advice when he was a child about remembering his poker face. 'I know, Dad! The most important thing for a magician! That's a poker face!'
"How's this? You can't see my body." Adrien laughs.
"That childish trick is laughable!"
"Did he figure it out already?" Kim asks. Alix rolls her eyes.
"Just keep watching meathead."
"What?!" A gust of wind blows the discarded clothes into the air and catches the moonlight allowing Adrien to see the reflection of the moon on the thief's invisible body.
'Got it!'
"Prepare yourself!" Adrien shoots his card gun at the thief causing the mask to crack from the force of the card hitting it, revealing a familiar face. Adrien is once again standing on his hands with a fake head between his legs. The mirrors shatter a moment later.
"Huh? So Natalie was pretending to be my dad. But why?" Adrien asks himself.
"So that's how that illusion was pulled." Max nods to himself. "That was bothering me this whole time. I can't believe I overlooked such an obvious thing."
"You mirrorized your body so it would reflect the surroundings, making it look like your body had disappeared!" Standing back on his feet, he crosses his arms. "An elementary trick!"
"D-Don't tell me you're…?! G-Gabi-sama?!" Natalie, now no longer using her fake voice, grabs Adriens hand. "Then you're alive!" Adrien is confused. "This brings back so many memories!"
'How does she know Dad's name? Huh? I've seen this woman before...'
"It's me! Natalie, your faithful assistant!" Her eyes are tearing up behind her glasses. "Have you forgotten me after a mere eight years?"
"Auntie Natalie!" A flashback of Gabi's final act plays. One where he must escape from his chains before a roller coaster crashes into a burning shed.
"I thought you died during that show eight years ago! I thought if I impersonated you, Kaitou Kid, it would lure them out. The miscreants who murdered Gabi-sama!"
Adrien was shocked. Fei grimaces thinking about her own adoptive father and the events that happened afterward.
"What?! Dad was murdered?!" Adrien places a hand on her shoulder. "Who did it?! Who killed him?!"
"Wait, are you… Young Master Adrien?!"
"I'll ask you one more question. Answer me honestly, Auntie! Was my dad… a thief?" The clouds cover the moon. "Was he Kaitou Kid?
Inspector Dupain rushed up a stairwell with a whole squad of police officers. "He's on the roof! Call in the choppers! Hurry!" Three helicopters take off toward the scene.
"Answer me, Auntie! Answer me dammit!" Natalie bows her head.
"Yes." She answers resignedly.
"I see…"
"Gabi-sama, Natalie Sancoeur has made the gravest blunder of her life. I told the Young Master what you forbade me to." Inspector Dupain shows up at this moment.
"I found you, Kaitou Kid!" Adrien shields Natalie from being seen by the police with his cape.
"I'll distract them! In the meantime, you make your escape, Auntie!"
"What about you, Young Master?"
"I'm not 'Young Master' anymore!" A helicopter arrives and shines a spotlight on him. "I'm Kaitou Kid!"
"Adrien, would you become a phantom thief like this?" Kagami asks, genuinely curious.
"Well, I wouldn't not become a phantom thief…" Adrien answers shakily.
"So you would just one day pick something that could be dangerous and do it because you want to?" Adrien shifts his eyes and whistles… Everyone can see right through him.
"Young Master!" Adrien drops his cape on top of Natalie covering her.
"Get out of here, Auntie!" Adrien runs across the rooftop before jumping and leaving a white rose behind for Inspector Dupain.
"He disappeared…" He says holding the rose. Adrien is shown to have used the glider to escape the rooftop.
"This has been a thrilling night… Kaitou Kid, huh? That might not be so bad." As he's gliding he sees a silhouette of someone standing on top of a construction site. "Who's that?"
'Maybe Plagg can add a glider to my baton… That would be cool.' Adrien thought to himself while the others wondered about the shadowy figure.
Back home Adrien is complaining to his mom. "Mom! You should've told me something important like that! I can't believe Dad was Kaitou Kid!"
"Huh? It looks like your mom knew about it." Marinettte comments.
"Oh, I didn't tell you about that?" Emilie was sitting outside a restaurant somewhere in Paris.
"Not one word! Hey, Mom, why was Dad killed?"
"Your Father is alive."
"Eh?!"
"Right here." Emilie places her hands over her heart.
"Is your mom anything like this, dude?" Nino asks. Adrien thinks back.
"Well, maybe just a bit. It's been a while kinda. I wish I could see her in person again." Showtime gives a slight smile as an idea comes to her.
"Look…"Adrien is peeved. She checks her watch.
"Sorry, Adrien. I'm off to a party with a friend."
"W-Wait a second! Mom!"
"Also, be sure to study hard. I love you, Adrien." She blows him a kiss before ending the call.
"Sheesh… As usual, she does everything at her own pace."
"Adrien!" Marinette yells out.
"And as usual, that voice is like a bullhorn." Adrien grumbles to himself as he exits to the balcony.
"Dinner is served!" She enunciates every syllable.
"Much obliged!" Adrien replies.
"You're in for a real treat tonight!" With her hands on her hips, Marinette smiles. Adrien lets out a sound of confusion. As Adrien sits at the dinner table, he nervously looks at the food on his plate.
'F-F-F-F-Fish?!' The fish moves slightly despite being sliced into sashimi, his face darkens. 'C-Cool it. You always gotta wear your poker face.' Letting out a fake laugh, he says, "It looks delicious!"
"Yeah, right? You just love fish, don't you? There you go. Eat up." Marinette pushes the fish closer to him. THe fish continues to move.
"P-P-P-P-P-Poker face!" He starts sweating. Inspector Dupain is wearing an apron and tied headband.
"Bwahahahaha!" Kim lets out a roaring laugh. "You're scared of fish?!" Ondine smacks his shoulder.
"Don't laugh Kim. Adrien is still not super happy about that." Kim quickly shuts up, leaving the others wondering what happened, except for Socqueline who has a guess about what that is.
"Oh that poor fish…" Mylène whispers to herself while Ivan rubs her back.
"How is it, Adrien-kun? I sliced it myself. Look, I've got one more. Adrien stands up as Marinette brings the unsliced fish closer to him grinning menacingly. Adrien focuses on the fish's face and loses his cool.
"Fish! Fish!" The gem Adrien was holding slips out of his hand and into the fish's mouth as Marinette thrust it forward.
"I've found Adrien's weakness!"
'The Eye of the Moon…' Adrien thinks in shock.
"Come on, come on!"She starts chasing him around the table while Adrien retaliates by tossing cards at her.
"Cut it out! Cut it out, I said!"
"What are you doing?! Do you know how expensive this snapper is?!"
"I'll tell you, but don't be shocked!" He whispers into her ear. "It's worth 400 million yen!"
Kagami raises an eyebrow. "400 million is quite a lot to handle so casually." Everybody else is shocked.
"Now way!" She yells out, tossing the fish back to her dad. "As if! 400 million!"
Inspector Dupain picks up the gem when it falls out of the fish's mouth. "Ahhh! 400 million yen!" He stumbles back in shock.
"It's true!" Adrien keeps backing away from Marinette.
"Come and get it!" Marinette keeps getting closer to Adrien with his plate of fish.
Curtains fall over the screen as Adrien in full phantom thief attire steps into the spotlight. "Thank you for coming this evening. May we meet again. See you next illusion." The screen fades to black.
"What was that about?" Rose asks.
"That ending bit? It's just a little extra flair for the first show I'm doing for all of you." Showtime answers. "It will also act as the ending bit of the episode for the Disc version you can get at the gift shop."
"Oh! I would love to get this on disc." Rose exclaims and Juleka's eyes widen as she realizes what is about to happen.
"Oh thank you for volunteering!" Showtime smiles as she gets ready for the next show.
