They had made their way to New York there were few places to get the parts needed to fix the rust bucket Ben and Gwen thought it was because the RV was ancient but Lincoln knew it was because of the alien tech he had agreed to keep quiet about they were staying in a fancy hotel while they waited for the repairs. Lincoln was hyper-focused on his phone he found out Ronnie was in New York so Clyde and her we're texted trying to meet up
"Wow this hotel has everything indoor pool, full day spa," Gwen read from the
"Well don't get used to it, it's only for one night," Max reminds them.
"whohoho the new sumo slammer video game in there," Ben said running to a room guarded by a tall bald man in a suit
"pass," the bouncer asked.
"uhm most have left it inside im one of the game pros testing out the system," Ben lied
"Vips only," the guy said, putting an arm up.
Ben looked away sadly and returned to the family.
"I know what you're thinking so no seeking in thair," Max said as Ben returned.
" We're staying at Hanover St. Block 23 207 7, If you two can come by we can hang," Ronnie texted.
"Awesome I'm staying there too," Clyde texted.
"Hay gramps Ronnie just texted mind if I go meet up with her," Lincoln asked
"Oh sure, just text me the address and make sure you're back before the sun goes down," Max answered.
Lincoln took his key and ran towards Ronnie's hotel. It was just as fancy as the one he was staying in. He texted Ronnie he was there and saw her run down the stairs as the elevator opened showing Clyde. The three ran together and hugged.
"Oh man I missed you guys," Clyde smiled
"This is epic, what are the odds," Lincoln smiled.
"This is great plus my dad just told me he had the night off, so he said he would take us anywhere we wanted, just have to wait for him to finish with a meeting," Ronnie smiled
Ronnie had been spending the summer with her dad who got a new job working for a guy named Dr Saturday.
They waited in the lobby talking about their summer so far Lincoln of course kept some of his a secret. When it got to turn she explained how she had flown to Mexico where her dad was working as a doctor on an archaeology dig and she had gotten these cool bracelets made with obsidian set in silver.
"Sorry, I took so long, my boss just called. He needs me to pick something up at the museum for him but then we can go anywhere, sorry," he explained as they caught the subway to the museum.
The curator met them.
"ah Dr.Santiago I presume Solomon speaks highly of your skill," The Curator smiled, shaking his hand.
"Oh and who are these," he asked looking at the three kids.
"This is my daughter and her friends," Arturo explained.
"Oh, we'll have some paperwork you need to do before I can give you the item so why don't these three take a look around? I assume I can trust you three not to cause too much damage," the Curator grinds.
"That sounds great," Ronnie smiles
Lincoln was surprised but went along with it and so did Clyde. The group explored the museum for a time going from one exhibit to another.
"Lincoln I have detected an unknown energy source," Ringo said to him.
"Where from," Lincoln asked.
"That's the thing it is mimicking Universal back
Ground radiation I have been analyzing since you put me on but I have finally been able to understand it better thanks to your girlfriend's bracelet.
"She's not my girlfriend and what do you mean," Lincoln asked.
"I am in your head, and I mean it is for this energy yet I detect no mechanisms within. I have also discovered 7 similar focal points in this building," Ringo explained.
"Maybe it's magic and 7 what are they," he thought.
"unknown one is located in a carbon steel vault approximately 20 meters north 4 others are 30 meters above you 3 are approaching rapidly from the south… I believe we are under attack, look up," Ringo answers.
Lincoln looked up just in time to see glass shatter from the skylight. Lincoln went to push Ronnie and Clyde out of the way but Ronnie had her hands up causing a purple glow to surround her hands and the glass causing it to levitate before turning to dust.
"Wha what was that," Clyde asked.
"Hay no time to explain run," Ronnie said as the 4 of the guys landed drawing blades.
Lincoln didn't even hesitate running past her and kicking one causing it to fall apart revealing it was made of wood.
"Wow that's impressive but that won't work," Ronnie answers as it puts itself back together.
"They won't stay down unless you burn them or destroy the core, it's in the," Ronnie stopped talking as Lincoln punched thru its chest ripping out some kind of talisman and crushing it.
"Damn, when did you grow balls," Ronnie chuckled, putting her hands together causing flame to blast out of her hand, incinerating two of them.
"iv grown a lot," Lincoln said just as two more jumped on his back smirking he ignited the plasma cutter and cut threw them igniting them
"Wow, it usually takes me a minute to end those things," Ronnie smiled.
"Not done two more, they just haven't dropped the test," Lincoln explained.
"oh how do you know," she asked.
"Long story thair making their way towards your dad," Lincoln explained
"crap after the tablet," Ronnie said running towards the office Lincoln followed her.
"What the hell is going on," Clyde asked.
As Ronnie and Lincoln entered the office they saw Ronnie's dad wielding a coat rack as a mace fighting the two creatures whale holding a stone tablet in the other hand.
Ronnie put her hands up causing two lightning bolts to fire off from them. This is when Lincoln noticed her arms that were cut marks hidden under her sleeves, one of which looked fresh. The two creatures fell to ash and her dad dropped the tablet he was just focused on Ronnie to take a look at her arm.
"I told you not to use the bracelet, look what it does," he said, taking out some gauze and wrapping her arm.
"Ok, so what is going on, "Clydee asked as he caught up.
Ronnie explained how when she went to Mexico she found the bracelet in the temple. It was some ancient magic artifact that took the user's blood to cast magic. it nearly killed her when she saved the dig when the temple collapsed. The bracelet was now stuck on her and any attempt to remove it drew blood. Dr Saturday reached out he researched abnormal creatures with his family and the like he had been helping them research the bracelet apparently the tablet was their first solid lead.
Lincoln then explained his summer then the curator spoke up.
"well as I was trying to explain before those things attacked the tablet itself is in an unknown language some of the best translators in the last 100 years have tried to translate it with no luck,"
" It is a map, the symbols are just scrambled to look like a language," I can un-scramble them and create an image," Ringo explained.
Lincoln held up ringo who scanned the tablet and recreated the map.
"Wow that ring is amazing," Clyde smiled.
"Thank you, I have uploaded scans of the tablet and sent them to your email now Lincoln if you would please press these markings in order," Ringo said, marking 12 symbols Lincoln did as asked causing the tablet to glow before reshaping into an orb.
"Wow, how did you do that," Ronnie Asked.
" I scanned it and then through every possible combination of the symbols this revealed the map and the 12 remaining symbols it is still unknown what it means," Ringo explained.
"Uh, what's with the shadow," Clyde asked.
"That would be the airship I used the beacon the Saturdays gave us," Arturo explained.
"Well I guess we have to go, it was great to see you guys again," Ronnie smiled, hugging Lincoln and clyde.
"ya good to see you too Ronnie," Lincoln smiled, hugging her goodbye.
Lincoln walked clyde back to his hotel before checking his phone he found out that Ben got them kicked out of the hotel had met up with some punk named Kevin and had ended up wanted by the police they were still looking for him.
"Ringo, can you scan for the watch or any disturbances that could be linked to ben," Lincoln asked, tapping his hover boots.
"the watch was just used in the uptown subway lines," ringo answers lincoln header their as fast as he could.
