"I've had it with you!" Ash raged, his voice being a mixture of anger and frustration. His eyes burned with an intensity that mirrored Ladon's and Nephele's protective stance between Paul, his pokemon, and the flock of Gliscor along with numerous Gligar. "Have you even thought about the consequences of your selfish actions?!"
Paul's face contorted with annoyance, a blend of irritation at the intrusion and vexation from his defeat. His strongest pokemon lay subdued by the strength before him, a fact that didn't sit well with his pride. "What in the world are you blabbering about now?"
"You were attempting to catch Gliscor, weren't you?!" Ash's accusation rang out like a sharp echo in the clearing.
Paul's glare deepened, his own anger flaring in response. "So what if I was? Is there a law against catching pokemon now?"
Ash's grip tightened on his Key Stone pendant, an unconscious response to his rising indignation. Simultaneously, the air around Nephele shimmered, the first tendrils of Mega Evolution stirring in the wake of Ash's escalating emotions. A wave of apprehension washed over Paul, a stark realization of the dangerous territory he had unwittingly gotten into. Taking a cautious step back, his eyes widened in a mix of surprise and trepidation.
"Gligar don't just exist on their own, Paul!" Ash's words cut through the tension, filled with a sense of urgency. "Gliscor, their leader, guides and protects them. It's their guardian, providing food and safeguarding their habitat. If you take Gliscor away, you're pushing an entire ecosystem out of balance. The Gligar would be vulnerable to predators, and even among themselves, chaos would reign as they fight for the role of the new leader. They'd be exposed to danger, hunted down by stronger foes. By capturing the leader, you'd be condemning them all to death!"
The weight of Ash's words hung in the air, a moment of realization for Paul, a glimpse into the broader impact of his actions, one he had never truly contemplated. As the seconds ticked by, the gravity of his impulsive act settled in, mingling with the echo of Ash's passion.
"Ash, calm down," Celeste finally spoke up.
"But Cel!" Ash swung around to face her, his eyes wide with disbelief. He hadn't anticipated his best friend, ally against the opression of pokemon, to stop him. How could Celeste side with someone like Paul, after all they had stood for together?
The forest around them seemed to hold its breath, the pokemon watching the unfolding drama with quiet intensity. Even Ladon and Nephele, in their ready stances, paused as Celeste stepped between the two opposing sides.
"Gliscor and his flock are already gone," Celeste calmly stated, her words diffusing the charged atmosphere. Both Ash and Paul blinked, momentarily surprised by her pragmatic observation. "You need to calm down before your pokemon do something, driven by your anger, that you might regret later." Her eyes flickered pointedly towards Ash's glowing Key Stone and Mega Stone, the silent reproach in her gaze cutting through his rage. He involuntarily took a step back, a flush of embarrassment tinging his cheeks. As Ash's fiery emotions settled, he looked back at Celeste, who now continued composed. "And regarding Paul, there's a truth in his defense. Capturing wild pokemon isn't illegal. It's just that he, like so many other young trainers, likely never considered the broader implications."
"He should have thought about it!" Ash retorted, his indignation still palpable.
A flicker of something passed over Celeste's features, a mixture of wistfulness and self-awareness. "But would you have thought about it when you met Nephele?" Her words sliced through Ash's defenses, hitting home with the precision of a practiced blade. She wasn't sparing herself either, holding her own actions up to scrutiny. "Or should I have thought about it when I befriended Dolos and Nyx?" She offered a humorless smile, a glint of rueful irony in her eyes. "The reality is, most young trainers, us included, are blissfully unaware of how much our actions can disrupt. The ecosystems we impact, the chaos we potentially sow. Remember, you've volunteered at Unova's Nature Reserve and you've seen firsthand the consequences of upending a delicate balance. Which is why you are so careful when it comes to capturing pokemon. And I, too, raise Eevees born from eggs or raised in captivity only. But regular trainers, the majority out there, they just haven't been taught better."
A sullen pout settled on Ash's face as he begrudgingly acknowledged her point. "That doesn't excuse what he did," he muttered, his anger giving way to a begrudging acceptance.
Celeste's eyes softened, her response gentle. "No, it doesn't," she agreed, her voice laced with understanding. She then turned her attention to Paul, her gaze neutral but compelling. There was an aura about her that unnerved Paul more than even Ash's rage. "However, now he knows better. And that knowledge can lead to change."
The weight of Celeste's words hung in the air, it was a moment of introspection. Or at least, that's what Celeste hoped for Paul, when she had to drag Ash away. Even when they've finally reached Hearthome City again, Paul was still in Celeste's mind.
"Gym Leader Fantina is still out!" Ash pouted as the read the sign. "Is she ever in her city?"
"Better luck next time," Celeste chuckled.
"Third times the charm, right?" Ash sighed.
As they made their way to the Pokemon Center, they made an unexpected turn as they continued down the bustling streets. Amid the colorful crowd, a distinctive figure emerged – a vibrant Pokemon Stylist named Paris. Her flamboyant attire mirrored the exuberant energy she radiated, a walking manifestation of the city's artistic flair. Paris' eyes seemed to light up as she caught sight of Celeste and Ash, or more especifically their pokemon Dolos, Nyx, and Nephele, and with a graceful flourish, she approached them. She invited them into the Hearthome Collection fashion show, an event that brought together both humans and pokemon to showcase their impeccable styles.
As Paris animatedly described the event, Celeste's eyes sparkled with interest. She liked the idea, showing off her pokemon through clothing was similar to what coordinators do. She couldn't help but envision her Eeveelutions adorned in elegant accessories, a living embodiment of her imaginative vision. Beside her, Ash's posture relaxed, an unspoken declaration of his indifference towards the world of fashion. He wasn't the type to be enticed by chic clothing or runway events. For him, the art of battle and training took over stylish appearances.
Ash exchanged a knowing glance with Celeste, realizing that this was more up her alley than his. "You should go for it, Celeste. It sounds like something you'd enjoy."
"Then I will!" Celeste cheered. "Sorry, you did not get your battle."
"At least, one of us will have fun," Ash replied with a supportive smile. "I can't wait to see what you come up with!"
As the sun set over Hearthome City, Celeste found herself amidst a flurry of preparations. Her heart pounded with both excitement and a trace of nervousness. It had been a long day, but she had decided on the concept and she was bringing it to life. In the heart of her pokemon-filled room, Celeste and Pan stood together.
The Leafeon's deep green coat shimmered like the lush foliage of a hidden forest glade. Celeste's deft hands moved with practiced precision, selecting flowers with care. Each blossom, a brushstroke in her creation, was chosen not just for its hue, but for the emotions it evoked. The fragrance of petals filled the air, infusing the room with the essence of nature itself. The bouquet she fashioned was a tapestry of colors, a symphony of life frozen in time. Roses for passion, daisies for innocence, and delicate lavender blooms for serenity, all together in harmony.
The creation held the essence of Hoenn's ancient art of Ikebana, a tribute to nature's beauty and the pokemon who embodied it. A tribute to her father and his home region.
When Celeste and Pan finally emerged from their cocoon of creativity, the Leafeon stood adorned with a living masterpiece. The flowers framed his form, accentuating his graceful stance and adding an ethereal allure to his presence. As they entered the fashion show, the spotlight seemed to hone in on them, and their nerves stirred anew. Yet, amid the sea of unique presentations, Celeste's creation shone like a beacon. The simplicity of the bouquet and the way it effortlessly melded with Pan's natural elegance was a testament.
Paris watched with widened eyes. The sight of Pan adorned with such a carefully crafted arrangement was unlike anything she had ever witnessed. Her appreciation was evident, her gaze never wavering from the stage as Celeste and Pan moved with practiced fluidity, making the crowd held its breath. The Leafeon's every step was a dance of grace, his movements seemed to breathe life into the bouquet, petals shifting like a living canvas, telling a story of harmony between trainer and pokmon. When they concluded, the silence gave way to thunderous applause, making Celeste feel her heart swell as the crowd's appreciation washed over her.
Paris approached later that evening when she had received the winning award, a smile as genuine as her praise. "You've captured the essence of nature's elegance in a way I've never seen before," she marveled. "If you so wish to, I could take you in as an apprentice, teach you all I know. There are not many young people with such an eye for beauty as yours."
"Maybe one day," Celeste replied with a bashful smile, as Pan puffed his chest in pride. "But for now my passion lays in contests."
"Then I await impatiently for your next contest," Paris smiled. "I can't wait for what you will dazzle me with next!"
