Cabe , followed by the four Agents , got out of the elevator on the ground floor and walked into the reception area . Cabe directed Agent Smith to the main exit doors , who walked over and took a stance in the middle of the doule entrance doors .

Cabe walked over to the reception desk and quietly spoke to Laura , one of the receptionists on duty , after showing her his I.D .

" Slowly drop the magnetic lock on the main double doors . On no account make or accept any internal phone calls , until told different . The door is to be remained locked at all times , unless instructed differently by Agent Smith . " Cabe explained as he pointed to the agent in front of the doors .

All Laura could manage was . " Yes Agent Gallo " She then operated the magnetic lock by pushing a button .

Cabe then left the reception area followed by the three remaing Agents , they followed Cabe to the side exit were Agent Thompson positioned himself . Next Cabe took the last two Agents to the fire exit and left Agent McKay there . The last Agent , he took up to the tenth floor , were the stairs to the roof were . After leaving Agent Pearson at the bottom of the stairs , he took the elevator to th fifth floor

At the same time as Cabe was talking to Laura , Katherine , Scott and Agent McKenzie were
leaving the elevator on the fifth floor . All three made their way down the hallway towards Carlson's office . . Without knocking they walked into the outer office , Janet , Carlson's secretary , was surprised to see Katherine Cooper followed by two men she did not recognize
" Miss Cooper is he expecting you ? "

All Katherine said was , " No . " As all three of them walked through the other door sraight into Carlson's office .

Carlson looked up at the sound of his door opening . " Did i tell you to come in Miss Cooper? " Carlson almost snarled at her .

His whole demeaner changed as he saw the two people who followed . He stood up , managed a forced smile on his face and extended his arm ready to shake hands . " Scott what a pleasure to see you , but why are you here ? "

Scott with a true poker face , made no attempt to reach for Carlson's hand . Instead in a very even voice . " We are here to remove you from the position of Director of Homeland's L.A. Office . "

Carlson , fell back into his chair , his face full of shock , he sat there with his head in his hands .

Scott carried on speaking . " We are also here to arrest you for accepting money compensation from various individuals and companies , over a period of seven years . "

Carlson slowly lifted his head out of his hands , a look of total surprise on his face . " Arrest me , that is ridiculous , if you check my bank account you will find i live almost paycheck to paycheck . We are Goverment employees so you know the pay is not that great . "

Scott still no change in the look on his face . " What about your offshore account ? "

Carlson's face dropped but he immediatly answered . " I don't have an offshore account . "

" Our sources tell us different . " Scott replied , a small smile appearing on his face .

As Scott finished speaking , they all heard a knock on the door , Agent McKenzie opened it and let Cabe in .

" What is Gallo doing here ? He is supposed to be ill in hospital . " Carlson said again with a snarl in hiis voice .

" Oh he will be a P.A. to Katherine , while she is the Tempory Director of Homeland L.A. You made a big mistake when you put Cabe out to grass

While Carlson was being given all the information , Walter was pulling up outside of Homeland Headquarter's . After dropping off the two agents , he went out of the other entrance to the drive and made his way back to his two favourite ladies , a big smile on his face .

The two Agents approached the double doors and could see the back of Agent Smith . They tried the door , to find it locked , a couple of knocks on the door got Agent Smith's attention . He acknowledged them and walked over to speak to Laura .

" Please release the magnetic lock on the door so i can let my colleagues in , once they are in relock the door . "

Once the door was open Agent Thomas and Walker walked in .

" Were is the boss ? " Agent Thomas asked

" Carlson's office . " Agent Smith answered .

" We had better make our way up there , the items Walter was talking about are hot , while talking about hot his partner is very hot . " Agent Thomas said .

Agent Smith took the other two Agents to Laura . " Could you please explain were Director Carlson's office offie is . "

Agent Smith took his position back by the door . Agents Thomas and Walker made their way to the elevator .

Carlson's Office .

" Gallo what a laugh , he got crazy working for that bunch of overrated , egotistical so called geniuses and that intefering piece of skirt , Walter was bedding . He deserved what he got . "

Cabe his face red with rage , his fists clenched , started to move towards Carlson . " They had more knowledge in their little fingers than you would ever manage to accquire in a life time . You just hated a team of nerds could beat you and your team at a game of softball . "

Scott put his arm out to stop Cabe getting near to Carlson , then in a calm soft voice told Carlson . " I have seen what Walter is capable of and in a few hours he as more than earned my respect . Now it is time for you Carlson to get what he deserves . Agent McKenzie please arrest Director Carlson . "

" Yes sir. " Agent McKenzie replied as he walked over to Carlson , while reaching behind his back to remove a pair of handcuffs from his belt . As he got closer to he began speaking .

" Mark Carlson you are under arrest on the charge of receiving money from suspect accounts in exchange for information . "

As he reached Carlson he put the handcuffs on his wrists which he had pulled behind Carlson's back . He then read him his rights , as he was finishing telling Carlson his Miranda Rights , there was a knock on the door .

Scott opened the door , Agents Thomas and Walker were standing there .

" Good , you two and Agent McKenzie take Carlson down to the cells . "

He stopped for a moment and turned to Katherine . " You do have cells here ? "

Katherine , a smile on her face . " Yes the cell block is on the ground floor , at the back of the building . You could ask one of the security guards in reception to show you were . "

" Can you trust them ? " A somewhat concerned Scott asked .

Katherine thought for a moment . " They should be alright , they never have any contact with any cases . Their job is just to protect the reception area . "

" Ok , make sure you do not let anything slip , to which ever guard you use . "

Agent McKenzie bought Carlson from behind his desk .

" One last thing , one of you stay down with who ever is on duty down there , but do not talk about the case . At the moment the whole staff in this office are under suspicion . Except Katherine and Cabe . " Scott informed them .

At that all three Agents escorted Carlson out of the office .

" I know it is going to be hard , but we need to have all the information we can gather before we start interrogating Carlson . Is there a conference room we could all meet and go over what we have got . "

Katherine again smiled . " Yes there is one just down the hallway . "

"Good when my other Agents return , we can let the ones guarding the exits come up here . " Scott his voice sober and a little worried .

Cabe looked from Katherine to Scott . " If we do not know who to trust , once the lockdown is finished , people could leave and disappear , as no doubt once Carlson's appears in reception wearing handcuffs , the news that Carlson as been arrested it will spread like wildfire through the building . "

" It is a chance we will have to take . " Scott replied .

The three Agents led Carlson out of the office , past Janet , who looked shocked to see Carlson in handcuffs . She got up from behind her desk , slowly walked towards the office door and with some trepidation knocked .

Scott opened the door . " May i help you ? " He asked .

At first Janet could not speak as tears began to form in her eyes . Katherine noticed how Janet was loking so nervous , she walked over to the door . " It is alright you are not in any trouble .

Janet still looked scared . " But you just took Directer Carlson away in handcuffs . "

" That does not mean you are , unless of course you knew what he was doing . " Katherine replied .

Janet gave a small smile . " Only the job he was employed to do , even if he was not that good at it . Did you know he kept another mobile phone in his desk drawer ?"

Scott turned to Cabe . " Agent Gallo can you check out the desk . . "

" Yes sir . " Cabe walked over to the desk and began searching , after a few moments he had found three mobile phones . All pay as you go and on three different providers .

Scott looked at Janet . " Thank you , would you be prepared to stay and help Acting Directer Cooper during the intrim period ? "

" It would be a honour , thank you . " A now smiling Janet said .

" Good , now get back to your desk for now . I am sure Directer Cooper wil have plenty of questions for you soon . " Scott told her .

Janet made her way back to her desk . Scott closed the office door . Thirty minutes later Agents Thomas and Walker returned . Scott sent Cabe to collect the four agents from the exits , so they could have a meeting to discuss how to move the problem on .

Thirty minutes later , Katherine , Cabe , Scott and six of the Washington Agents , were seated around a table in the conferance room . Katherine had arranged for sandwiches and coffee to be delivered to the room so they could eat while discussing the problem .

Scott first asked Agents Thomas and Walker about the situation at Walter's house .

" There is a display room , of various weapons , Walter believes and i tend to agree they were for this Squires guy pleasure only .

Upstairs , in the loft area , is a different problem . There at least ten large crates , marked Farm Equipment , Walter had opened one and after removing a few items of equipment , underneath there were automatic rifles . The other cases are still all intact but it is almost certain they will contain the same . I checked a couple of serial numbers , then phoned Washington . A quick check revealed they were part of a shipment destined for Fort Cavazos , Texas .

Cannot be certain if they were diverted or stolen before they reached their destination or were stolen from the stores at the camp . Washington are arranging Agents from the Texas office to investigate , however it is now a case that happened over six years ago , so it could turn out to be a waste of time . " Agent Thomas explained .

Cabe was first to ask a question . " Did you ask anything about all the paperwork ? "

Agent Thomas looked at Cabe for about thirty seconds before answering . " Well i did say we would remove all the paperwork when we collected the rifles . Paige did offer to help if required . "

" So you did ask her about the information she as already found . "

Agent Thomas looked a little sheepish as he answered . " No, she is a very attractive lady , i just did not think she would have any information that would be of any use . "

Cabe gave a small smile before answering Thomas , the smile was not one of pleasure , it was more like like that of an assassin just before pulling the trigger . Agent Thomas's look was one of , i wish i was somewere else .

" You are correct , she is a beautiful young lady , but although she is not a genius , I.Q wise , she is a brilliant organizer . In less than a day and a half , she discovered a list of customers , which she collated each invoice to a corresponding letter advising the customer that the goods were despatched .

She as also found tax evasion by Baltic Holding . I know that dies not concern Homeland , but i am sure the I.R.S. will be intereted . "

Scott sat up in his chair at hearing Cabe explain to Agent Thomas . " Once we start to re-investigate the Phoenix case , we will certainly need to involve Ms Dineen . However first we need to work out a plan on how to tackle Carlson ."

Katherine with a somewhat forced smile on her face asked . " How long can we keep him before we actually charge him ? "

Scott thought for a moment . " We are not tied the same way as L,A.P.D. . Also the gun trade is often connected to terrorism , we can keep him indefinatly . "

" Walter and Ralph , found six other payments from different people , one is dead but the othe other five are still active . Maybe we should send Agents to check them out . There is one odd name and that is Jake Summers he owns a group of construction companies , so what the connection to Homeland there is i have no idea . Also do not forget there are a lot more deposits that Walter and Ralph have not had time to trace . " Katherine explained .

Scott again looked very concerned . " Do you know how many ? "

Katherine shook her head . " No idea at all . "

Scott looked at Katherine and Cabe . " Would Walter and Ralph be prepared to carry on working for us until they have found all the origins of the deposits ? "

Cabe answered " I am sure they both would but you would need to clear it with Richard , so Walter could have the time off . With Ralph you would need to get Paige's permisson for him to have time off school . "

Scott with a look of confusion on his face , asked . " Could not Walter give the permisson ? "

Cabe a smile appearing on his face . " Although Walter calls him son and Ralph calls Walter dad , Walter is not his biological father , so all final decisons with regard to Ralph as to be agreed by Paige . "

" Oh i did not realize . Ok i will phone Richard , i am sure Richard will allow Walter time off . But you phone Paige , you know here a lot better than me . " Scott replied .

" No problem at all sir . I will phone her once the meeting is over ."

Agent Thomas had been listening to what was being said and remembered what both Walter and Paige had asked . " Excuse me but could i bring something to your attention ? "

Scott nodded and Agent Thomas carried on . " We need to move all the rifles and paperwork out of Walter's house . He and his beautiful family cannot move in until it as all been removed from the house . "

Scott stayed silent for a few seconds . " I am sorry but reviewing old cases at the moment is close to the bottom of my list , especially cases that are over seven years old . Our top priorty is must be preparing the case against Carlson . "

I understand that but would it be possible to spare a few Agents to move everything out the house into the large building in the garden ? "

"A smile broke out on Scotts face . " You put up a good argument and i suppose we do owe a lot to Walter and his family . Ok , you and three Agents can go over and sort that out . Cabe could you phone Paige and arrange a good time for the Agents to move all the offending items out to the building in the garden . "

Cabe nodded in agreement . " I will ask her when i phone her for permission for Ralph to have time off school . In relation to the Phoenix case , you are aware i believe that Walter found a lease for a wharehouse . Ralph discovered all the taxes due on the building have been paid by direct debit and are all up to date . No one as been near to the place , because we did not want to alert Carlson . However it could still be distributing weapons even now , or it could just be empty . "

Scott looked shocked at that last statement . " Do you have the address of the property ? "

" No , but Walter will . " Cabe replied .

" Please could you phone him now and get the address . Katherine is there any one at Homeland you could trust ? "

Katherine thought for a moment . " Apart from Cabe , i do not really know anyone i can trust ."

" How many trainees do you have at present ? " Scott asked .

Katherine called again . " Around twenty , but eight of them only started last week . .

Scott pondered for a minute . " Can you get me five , who appear to have really taken to the job . "

" That should not be a problem . "

Scott nodded before speaking . " Ok , can you go and do that now , once you have got them , sorted out , they will join you, Cabe , Agent Thomas , Agent Walker and myself on a trip to the wharehouse . All team members must be fitted out with protective vests .

Agents Smith , Thompson . McKay and Parsons , split into two teams and begin investigations into the five companies Walter and Ralph have found . Today use your computer skills to find out what you can about them . Tomorrow you can start making visits . "

He turned to Katherine . " Can you provide cars for the two teams tomorrow . We will use the cars that Richard as loaned us for the trip to the wharehouse of Baltic Holdings . "

Katherine smiled . " Consider it done . "

While all this had been going on Cabe had excused himself and left the conference room to phone Walter . Just as Katherine finished speaking he returned to the conferece room and showed Scott the text Walter had sent with the wharehouse address on .

Cabe told him Walter was more than willing to track down the other deposits as long as Scott cleared it with Richard . With regard to Ralph , Walter said he would speak to Paige this evening .

Once Scott had listened and thanked Cabe he turned to Katherine . " Can you arrange for the five trainees to meet us in the garage and also the protective gear for everyone . I want to leave in the next fourty five minutes . Everyone knows what they ae doing , so lets get on with it . "

Fourty five minutes later , the team all met up in the underground garage . Katherine and Cabe were going in Katherine's car , the other Agents would be using the cars that Richard had supplied . It took almost fourty five minutes to reach the wharehouse . They pulled up about 200 yards away from the wharehouse doors . Once out of thier cars , Scott split them into two teams .
Katherine , Cabe and three trainees made up the one team .
Scott , Agent Thomas and Agent Walker together with the other two trainees made up the other team .

Scott led his team towards the wharehouse , Katherine's team stayed about ten yards behind them . As they got closer they could see two white vans and six cars parked alongside the wharehouse . Scott put his arrm up to stop both teams , then indicated for Katherine to join him .

" We will need to take care , with all those vechiles parked outside , it could mean it is occupied or other people are just using the parking spaces . Once we get a little closer we may be able to hear something . You take your team to the left hand side of the roller shutter , we will take the right were the personnel door is . "

At that Scott directed his team to begin moving , Katherine wanted until Cabe and the rest of the team reached her , then followed Scott's team . Both teams took up their positions either side of the rollershutter .

The sound of machinery could be heard coming from inside the building . Scott reached for the door knob of the small door set in the rollershutter . He turned the knob which gave easily , slowly he pushed the door open , the noise of the machinary hiding any noise made . He entered quickly followed by his team .

In a very loud voice , he yelled . " Homeland no one move . "
