Chapter 3: Howlcoming Queen

Later that night, Valentia was sleeping in her goth-styled room. Around her were memorabilia of Black Panther, Edgar Allen Poe, The Addams Family, and Tim Burton classics. Although she was comfortable in her hand me down blanket, she was becoming uncomfortable.

In her dream, there was darkness. No light, no sun. Just plain dark. The only light she could see is the stop she is currently standing on.

"What's going on?" Valentia asked, "Whoever's pranking me, better stop."

"Child…" a mysterious voice said, "Can you hear me?"

Startled, Valentia looks around to find the source of the voice. "Who's there?" She asked. "Come out whoever you are!"

Just then a purple mist-dust cloud appeared out of nowhere. It circles around Valentia, before it comes in front of her. Then, it slowly forms into a mystic wolf, surprising her. The wolf stares at the gothic girl intently and the latter couldn't help but stare back, mesmerized by its ghostly purple eyes.

"Follow me…" said the mysterious voice, which seemed to be coming from that wolf. The canine turns around and runs off, leaving a trail of purple dust. Valentia somehow became intrigued with the wolf spirit and couldn't help but follow after it. The wolf was running fast. So fast that it disappeared in the darkness, but still leaves a trail of dust. The goth girl runs as fast as she can to catch up to that wolf spirit. But it was long gone. Then suddenly, there was a bright light engulfing the black void. Valentia shields her eyes from the flash. When the light dims down, she uncovers them and what she sees is something unbelievable. She was standing in front of the huge temple. On both sides of her are statues of wolves. The goth girl looks around in awe.

"Where the hell am I…?" she asked. Just then, the wolf spirit from before appeared in front of the temple, awaiting her arrival. "Uh…Why did you lead me here? Do you have anything to do with this?" But the wolf did not respond. It was just standing there…staring at her intently with its purple mystic eyes. "Do you understand what I'm saying?" The wolf just stared at her. "Can you at least…respond to me?" The wolf still stared at her. But not until it let out a howl before it suddenly took form. To the goth girl's surprise, the wolf slowly shifted into a person. A woman to be exact. Her long flowing black hair appeared behind her and she appeared in a purple silky outfit. The wolf-or rather the women-opened its brown eyes as she looked at the sheer shock look from the goth girl.

"W-What are you? Who are you!?" asked Valentia. The women in particular just only gave her a genuine smile.

"I'll tell you soon enough," said the mysterious woman. "For now…wake up."

Valentia woke up abruptly, with a look of revelation. She looks around to see her purple room full of posters of Black Panther. Then, she looks at the window to see the rising sun shining into her room. The goth girl let out an exhale, realizing that it was all just a dream.

"Well, that's the last time I had spicy corn chips before bed…" She sighed.

A few days later, the homecoming dance has already begun tonight in Claudette Cion High. At the front entrance of the high school, a car pulled up. Inside the car, Valentia is in her homecoming dance outfit. She was wearing her new necklace that was a birthday gift from her mother and a werewolf-themed dress. The goth girl looked through the windshield to look at her high school in the night.

"Welp, we're here." said Tamu who was the driver. "Time for you to go." Valentia sighed.

"I'm starting to have doubts about going to this homecoming dance." she said. His brother raised his eyebrow at her.

"Why not?" he asked. "It's just a homecoming dance. It even has the Halloween theme you loved so much."

"I know." Valentina admitted, "But I'm still shivering from that crazy nightmare a few nights ago."

"Maybe the volunteer work can help clear your head." Tamu suggested, "I need to get to my second job delivering takeout." Valentia sighs.

"Fine." she said, as she got out of the car.

"Have fun out there!" said Tamu, as he watches his younger sister heading to the school. But just as she was about to head inside, a big noise of an engine startled her. She snapped her head around to see it was coming from Tamu's car, revving its engine up before he drove away. Valentia stared off to where Tamu is driving off to with a surprised, yet confused expression.

What the hell was that? She thought. Tamu's car wasn't that loud, as well as the other ones. And she was like 15 inches away from him. How could she hear that from all the way here? The goth girl shrugged. It's probably just a mere coincidence. Maybe from all the Youtube videos she has been watching 24/7. And with that, she went inside the school building.

Inside the gym where the homecoming is being held, everyone was dazzled in formal/Halloween apparel as they danced to the music while it was blaring from the speakers. Some of them were just chatting away, enjoying the music. Some were playing charade games. While others started kissing and making out. Valentia enters the gym and sees the event going on. Everyone seemed to be having fun. Too much fun. But she likes their Halloween outfits.

"Well…here I am." she said. "In a Halloween homecoming dance event that I really adore so much." Is this really worth it though? Could she even enjoy this after all that she wanted? This is the only chance she could have for herself. Valentia sighed.

"Fuck it." she said. "I have to go for it." She went forward through the crowd of partying students. There was no going back now. But little did she know…that something unexpected might come upon her.

Outside Claudette Cion High School, a lone figure was standing on a rooftop staring down at the building. This figure seemed to have ears that are shaped like a bat. Then, it suddenly opened its bat wings from their bat and fell off the rooftop, before it flew across air before it landed above the high school building thatch. It went up to a hatch then tears it off before going inside the ventilation shaft. The bat presses a communicator on his side of his face.

"I'm inside the ventilation shaft of Claudette Cion." said the bat monster.

"Good," a feminine voice is heard from his communicator. "Now remember, stick to the plan. You must teach those ignorant worms a lesson for tormenting you. Take everything you see and wreck that party to havoc until all is in complete chaos. Understood?"

"Understood…Mother." He nodded, understanding the plan. Then, the bat monster started crawling through the vents to find the homing dance that is being held at.

Meanwhile in the homecoming dance, everyone was still having fun partying around. However, one of them was not participating in one of those events. In the far distance beside the fruit punch of the food stand, Valentia is leaning on the table watching the party event going on. She was half bored, but she enjoys the music as she slightly bops her head to the side.

"Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in…herself!" a voice brought the goth girl's attention as she looked to see a familiar person she hated so much coming towards her. Macy. And she's with her gang as always.

Ugh, great. Here comes the joykiller in this party. She thought.

Macy was dressed as Bo Peep while Livia, Emilia, and Everly were dressed as a herd of sassy sheep.

"What are you here for?" Valentia asked, in annoyance. "To be nominated homecoming queen?"

"It just so happens that freshmen can't compete for homecoming king or queen," Livia reminded, taunting her.

"But be warned Kamlamey, Little Bo Peep here is going to win the best costume ever." Macy held her chin high in proudness.

"I don't care about winning some dumb competition," the goth girl growled with a glare. "If I did, I could totally own this shit. And judging by the looks of that trash thing you called a costume, you wouldn't even have a chance of winning." Macy and the other two gasped at the insult.

"How dare you!" she yelled. "I'll have you know, this costume cost me so much potential that I have to get this!" she gestures to her costume. "Unlike that hideous outfit you chose to bring upon yourself in!" she then gestures to the goth girl's outfit. Valentia growled.

"Whatever…" she muttered, as she looked away.

"Anyway, you've wasted my precious time," said the spoiled blondie. "I will be off to impress Riguel with my fabulous outfit! And I'll let you hang around the food stand like a poor savage animal you once were! Bye!" She waved goodbye to Valentia as she and her two comrades left her alone. The blackett could only roll her eyes and sighed in frustration.

"I should've gone to a movie theatre to watch a Coolio biopic with Arya and Maverick…" she mumbled. "But no, instead I have to help my dad fill in for that turkey brained Kali."

Ubknowest to her or the other students, the bat was crawling through the vent shaft above them. He stops upon an air vent in front of him and sees a view of the homecoming event going on. He presses his communicator piece.

"I'm right above the homecoming dance," he said. "Should I strike now?"

"No, not yet," said the woman from the communicator piece. "Wait for the right moment."

Back at the dance, everyone, excluding a certain goth girl, was still having joyful fun, unaware of a bat monster above inside the ventilation shaft.

Just then, Mr. Spiegel came up wearing a Sherlock Holmes costume. Mr. Spiegel is considered the strict English teacher in school. Out of all the students, he can't tolerate Macy for her rudeness nor Valentia for her weird assignments.

"Attention students," Mr. Spiegel announced, as the music turned off and everyone else stopped dancing and playing games. "It is time to announce Costume Awards." Among the crowd, Macy, Livia, Emilia and Everly were thrilled about the announcement, but Valentia just rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"For first place, the winner for wearing the Best Costume is…"

But as Mr. Spiegel was about to announce the winner for Best Costume, the bat monster came out from the ventilation shaft. It stood up and stared at the crowd, expressionless, as everyone was either shocked, scared, or impressed by his appearance.

"Well," Mr. Spiegel said, "That costume is going to be last place for its unrealistic face. Look at the cape, it's too long, and the fangs look like they're from a cheap costume store and the crown should be placed on a child's head."

Outraged by the critique, The bat monster suddenly went up to Mr. Spiegel at an unexpected speed. Then he picked up the middle aged teacher and tossed him over by the punch bowl where Valentia is. Everyone gasped in sheer shock and fear of what just occurred in front of them. Mr. Spiegel sat up and stared at the bat monster looking stunned. Then, he gave him the scariest face known to mankind. Mr. Spiegel was so scared he shouted, "Everyone evacuate the building! And the winner will be announced this Monday." He stood up and ran off. Everyone screamed as they expelled the gym running for their lives. Though, some of them kept bumping into each other, causing some others to fall to the ground. Valentia stood there in shock, unable to move as she stared at the bat monster. What just happened? Who is that guy dressed as a bat? Is he a robber? A thief? No, it couldn't be. No robber or thief could throw someone else like that. So who was he? Then, she saw her father among the crowd. He looked scared of what was happening.

"Calm down students," Principal Kamlifi announced, "Leave in an orderly fashion, Ladies, remember your purses!"

"Sabu," Mr. Spiegel replied, as he ran up to him, "I thought it was mandatory for students to leave everything behind during an evacuation."

"True, Ephram." Principal Kamlifi replied, "But a woman has to know where her purse is,"

Annoyed, Mr. Spiegel fled with the other suddenly, the bat monster appeared in front of Principal Kamlifi, surprising him. He made the same scariest face he did before. The terror made Principal Kamilif so paranoid he passed out, making Valentia gasp in horror.

"DAD!" Valentia shouted. The bat monster looked over to see Valentia standing by, staring at her father in dread. He slowly went up to her, as the goth girl slowly backed away a hint of fear in her eyes. "Who are you!? What the hell are you!?" The bat monster stopped his approach. He stared deep into her eyes with a blank expression on his face. There was no response from him at all. Until he gave her a malicious smirk.

"I'm your worst nightmare." The bat monster spoke in a grimy tone.

Then like with Mr. Spiegel and the principal, he gave her the scariest face. Valentia stared at him, eyes widened in shock and fear as he started approaching her, whilst holding his expression up. But then, that shockness and fear has suddenly disappeared from the goth girl's face and has changed into anger. And without thinking, she punched the monster in the face.

"Who the hell do you think you are!?" Valentia yelled. "You think you can just waltz in and scared the living daylights out of my father before he dies from a fucking heart attack!? You don't get to throw around other people just because they're weaker than you, you're good for nothing brat!" Then, suddenly, the wolf eyes of Valentia's amulet began to glow brightly. She was too angry to notice it as she kept her glaring eyes on the bat monster in front of her. The latter had stood still in shock by the slap he was given, before he gave her a glare.

"How dare you…" he said grimly. The bat monster came up to her and raised his hand up into a fist. But, before he could strike her down with a punch, Valentia grabs his hand unexpectedly, surprising him.

"You think you can take me out just like that!?" she says with a growl that almost sounded like an animal. At that moment, her eyes suddenly turned purple and her amulet intensified with sheer brightness. "Think again."

All of a sudden, there was a burst of light and a powerful force pushed the bat monster away. Valentia's whole body began to glow purple. She could feel a thumping vibration inside of her. It's begging her to take over her body. Like it wants to get out. The goth girl could only feel her anger rising uncontrollably and quite painfully. So she accepts this sensation. Then suddenly, the amulet shot out what looked to be mystical purple ribbons. They started to surround and wrapped her up from head to toe like a caterpillar in a cocoon. At that time, it started to crack open before it burst. Valentia's whole body seemed to be glowing purple, as her dress had instantly disintegrated. Then, some mystic magic trailed up from her legs and reached to her neck, giving her a titanium-like suit. Wolf-like ears magically appeared on her head. Then afterwards, purple ribbons burst out from her hair tie, making it look majestic. Finally, a purple wolf mask appeared over Valentia's eyes and when she opened them, they were now fully glowing purple eyes instead of her regular brown eyes. Everything dies down and the goth girl is now looking at herself in deep shock.

"What…" She trailed off. "What the hell happened?"
