Chapter 4: Family Ties
Looking around I see a big old house, it's in the middle of the woods, a small gravel road leading away from it. I decided to walk to the front door, but just as i'm about to knock, the door opened. Ancestor Anastasia comes out, walking in a quick haste.
"Why does life have to be so hard? '', she says, annoyed to herself. Walking down the gravel road. I follow her.
"Miss Forbes, what is wrong?" Ancestor Anastasia looks up to find Elijah standing not even six feet away from her.
"Nothing, Mr. Mikaelson. It's just my mother, she wants me to become a debutante this summer." Ancestor Anastasia says to him.
"And that is not what you want." Elijah says, Giving her a comforting smile.
"It's not that I don't want to become a debutante, just not yet. But mother says, 'you are 19 years old, we cannot wait any longer'". Ancestor Anastasia says to him, while imitating her mother's voice.
"ANASTASIA, you must come at once!" A voice says behind them from the house.
In the door opening an older women mid 40's is standing looking at the couple.
"When talking about the sun" Ancestor Anastasia says, looking at Elijah. "Coming mother!"
"I bid you farewell, Mr. Mikaelson." She says looking at Elijah, apologizing, beginning to walk away to the house.
"Farewell Miss Forbes." Elijah says.
I look at Elijah, as he walks away from the house.
"Elijah!" I yell at him.
Elijah turns around, looking right at me. "Come find me, before he finds you" Elijah says walking away again.
"Before who finds me?" I say, but before anything can happen, everything goes black.
I wake up to a loud noise coming from the kitchen. I put a pair of jeans and an oversized t-shirt on, and walk downstairs.
"Mom, what are you doing?" I say to Liz, looking around the kitchen.
"Anastasia, good morning to you too. I'm cleaning" She says while moving on with the cleaning.
"Is Caroline home?" I ask, taking some breakfast out of the refrigerator.
"No, she slept at Elenas" She says looking at me. "Remember the party at the Lockwoods"
Caroline called if she wanted to meet at the grill. So that is where Anastasia is now. Waiting.
I see Caroline and Bonnie come in, and wave them over.
"Hey, I ordered some fries," I told them, while they were sitting down.
"Caroline is going to the founders party with Damon Salvatore" Bonnie says, looking a little frustrated.
"What, no. I thought we were all going together. And Damon Salvatore, since when?" I ask Caroline.
"Well now I'm going with Damon, he asked me and we're a thing now. You can go together." Caroline says, looking at me and Bonnie.
"What about your mom? Is she okay with you bringing Damon?" Bonnie asks.
"And I'm supposed to care why?" Caroline says, while the waiter comes over with the fries and places them on the table.
"Caroline! Mom is not going to be happy" I say.
"Besides, he's older sexy danger guy." Bonnie says, while taking one of the fries.
"Older sexy danger guy? Is that an official witch twitter tweet?" Caroline says.
"No more witch jokes, okay? That whole Mr. Tanner prediction thing has me freaked." Bonnie says.
"Right Mr. Tanner" I say, a little sad.
"Okay. And Damon's not dangerous. You know, he just has a lot of issues with his brother. You know, like major, deep-rooted drama." Caroline says.
"Like what Caroline" I say.
"I'm not really supposed to say anything." Caroline say, looking away.
"Caroline Forbes, when have you ever kept a secret in your life?" Bonnie says, and I laugh a little.
"Okay. But you can't tell Elena."
"We won't," Bonnie says.
Then Caroline tells us about the whole Katherine thing. And we decided we should start getting ready to go to the Lockwoods.
There was a long line of people in front of the Lockwood mansion. Bonnie decided she wanted to come later.
I decided to wear a blue of shoulder satin dress.
"Anastasia, how lovely you look" Mrs. Lockwood says to me, when I reach the front door.
"Thank you" I say and walk in.
I see Caroline talking to Liz, probably about Damon. Then she walked away.
"Mom" I said to her when walking over.
"Anastasia, you look great." She says to me.
"What was that about?" I ask her.
"Just Caroline bringing an older guy with her." Liz says looking disappointed.
"Yes, the infamous Damon Salvatore" I say.
"Salvatore," She says.
"Yes, I'm just gonna go have a look around, I'll see you later." I said to her, and walked off into the old house.
After looking around for a while I spot Stefan and Elena in a room looking at artifacts.
"The founding families in Mystic Falls welcomes you to the inaugural founder's council celebration." Wow, look, it's the original guest registry. Look at all these familiar names—Sheriff William Forbes, Mayor Benjamin Lockwood. Is that Damon Salvatore? And, Stefan Salvatore?" I hear Elena say, while walking closer.
"The original Salvatore brothers. Our ancestors. Tragic story, actually." Damon says coming up from behind them.
"What a tragic story" I say standing beside Elena.
"We don't need to bore them with stories of the past." Stefan says. Giving Damon a dangerous look.
"It's not boring, Stefan. I'd love to hear more about your family." Elena says, interested in Stefans family.
"Well, I'm bored. I want to dance. And Damon won't dance with me." Caroline says, standing beside Damon. "Could I just borrow your date Elena?"
"Actually, Stefan promised to tell me about some books in the library" I say quickly trying to save him from dancing with Caroline. Stefan gives me a small smile as a thank you.
"You can do that another day, come on Stefan" Caroline says not giving up.
"I don't dance," Stefan says.
"Oh, sure he does. You should see him. Waltz, the jitterbug, the moonwalk. He does it all." Damon says.
"You wouldn't mind, would you, Elena?" Caroline ask's Elena, looking at her.
"It's up to Stefan." Elena says, not really wanting to get involved.
"Well sorry, but I'm not going to take no for an answer." Caroline says, dragging Stefan to the dance floor.
"And what about you, Anastasia?" Damon says, taking his hand out for me to take.
"Oh, I don't dance either," I say.
"I'm sure you're fantastic," Damons says, taking my hand, walking away to the dance floor. Leaving Elena alone in the room.
"So" I say, dancing with Damon.
"I want to apologize to you for being such a world-class jerk the other night when I tried to kiss you. There's no excuse." Damon says, holding his hand a little tighter around my waist.
"Then why did you do it?" I ask him.
"You just remind me of someone." He says, looking a little sad.
"Someone you lost?" I ask.
"In a way, you could say that." Damon says.
Damon and I dance some more, until Caroline comes and wants to dance with him.
I walk off to the side, and watch people dance. I see Elena and Stefan dancing, they look happy together. I was always rooting for them, until Stefan nearly drives Elena off Whickery Bridge. What was he thinking?
I walk inside the house again, looking around for anyone I could possibly talk to.
"Anastasia!" I hear behind me. It's Mrs. Lockwood. "I was so sad to hear that you and Tyler broke up. You were always such a beautiful couple."
"Um, I guess Tyler and I are in a different part of our life right now. And after the car accident, it just didn't feel right anymore. But I hear he moved on pretty quickly." I said to her, not really knowing how long Tyler and I actually dated.
"Yes, Vicky Donavan." She says, not with overjoying happiness.
"I'm just gonna use the ladies room, if you'll excuse me" I say and walk away from her. 'Awkward' I think as I open the door to the bathroom. Caroline runs out, leaving Elena standing in shock.
"Is everything alright?" I ask Elena.
"I think Damons been hurting Caroline," Elena says, walking out as well.
"Elena!" I yell after her, while following her. "You can't just drop a bombshell like that, and walk away." I say.
I see Elena talking too Damon, and then walks over to Stefan.
"What did you do?" I ask him, confused.
"Nothing you need to worry about, a misunderstanding" He says walking away, to find Caroline.
I look around trying to find Elena, I spot her and Caroline outside the Lockwood Mansion.
"Caroline, what happened?" I hear Elena ask her.
"I'm fine" Caroline says, about to have a breakdown.
"Caroline, you're not fine" I say, and hug her, Elena joins in on the hug too.
After Caroline is put to bed, I walk into my room and look at myself in the mirror. I look at the necklace, and think back to this morning, and about the dream.
'There's something about this necklace that's making me have these weird dreams. I need to find someone who knows what's happening. Elijah said I need to find him, before someone finds me first. Who could that be and why do I need to find him? There is only one way of knowing. I need to find Elijah.'
