Chapter 3: Call Me Sir
"If you don't mind me asking, why are we going to the mall again?"
Seth finishes off the rest of his coffee, and smiles at the curious Lycan.
"We're going to get you some furniture and decor for your room! I told you last night, remember?"
Adam scratches his head in confusion. They were currently on their way to the Mauville Supercenter. Seth told him he was in the mood to do some shopping, but never really had a real reason to do so in town, and opted for shopping online. But when he saw that Adam's room was basically barren aside from what was in there when he arrived, he suggested they go shopping for some furniture and other decorations in town, then they can help him decorate his room when they get home.
"I know, but why? I'm perfectly fine with my room as it is, I don't really want any new furniture."
Seth playfully pouts.
"But I just want you to feel at home here, and feel comfortable! Klaus told me you sort of drift around when you're working and don't really make conversation unless you're spoken to. I just want you to feel some sense of belonging, and a new room might make all the difference!"
Adam rolls his eyes and looks away.
"Fine, fine. I understand."
Seth chuckles and smiles.
"Good. Sit tight, we'll be there soon."
The main reason Adam didn't really want to go, is because he was embarrassed to be seen in public as he is now. He was slightly bitter about the fact that Seth pretty much always wears normal attire, like t-shirts, jeans, shorts, and sometimes even shades, while Adam was told to wear his servant uniform.
Also Seth was right. He didn't exactly feel at home, he felt like he lived at work. He never really felt like talking, but he wasn't rude enough to ignore anyone who spoke to him.
Who would want to feel at home in a place they're required by law to be in anyway…
He should've guessed that his behavior would get brought up eventually, but he didn't think it would lead to him basically being spoiled. So far, Seth has found many ways of surprising him.
A few moments later, they arrive at the Mauville Supercenter. It was known as the most popular shopping district in the region, because it literally had everything. Food, technology, housing decor, etc. It even had an apartment complex built on top of it.
Adam recalls that he and Ethan had contemplated staying there a while back. It was right next to their college campus, and it was convenient to be so close to all the shops. However, it was way more expensive than just renting an apartment nearby, so they decided against it.
Adam gets out of the car and stretches. Seth follows suit, but walks to the driver side door and leans down to speak to Klaus, who was their chauffeur for the trip.
"You just sit tight Klaus, I know you aren't big on shopping. We'll be there a while, but I'll be sure to grab you something as thanks for driving."
Klaus only nods, and pulls out a few books.
"Not a problem Master Seth, I'll just use this chance to catch up on my reading. You two take all the time you need."
Seth smiles, and Klaus rolls up the window as he walks away. He pats Adam on the shoulder, and the two begin walking to the building.
"Now Adam, I'm not sure if Klaus has told you, but I have a specific rule when I go out shopping with those in my servitude."
Adam raises a brow, and looks over at the fox.
Here we go.
"And what might that rule be?"
Seth smirks, and puts an arm around Adam's shoulder. The two of them stop right outside of the entrance.
"You're free to get whatever you want, no matter how much it costs, no matter what it is. The only requirement is that you call me sir when you address me directly."
He chuckles a little, and walks inside, leaving Adam dumbfounded.
What kind of stupid rule is that? I have to call him sir?
Adam follows the sly fox inside, and groans mentally. He had already struggled with how to address Seth. He had always respected those in positions of authority, but Seth was different. He was more akin to a friendly coworker who had seniority. The ones who don't demand respect or have direct authority over you, but you show them the proper amount anyway because you feel it necessary. There were also times where Adam felt like a glorified babysitter, having to play along with his jokes and not gut punch him whenever his pranks were particularly mean.
And now he wants to parade me around in a massive superstore wearing a butler outfit while calling him sir. I guess I just have to not ask for anything.
Unfortunately, Seth didn't make it easy. Seth himself may not have dressed like a member of the upper class, but he knew how to shop like one.
The first store they visited was a mattress outlet. Seth knew that Adam's mattress wasn't the most comfortable, and Adam had his fair share of rough nights on it, so Seth bringing him here under the guise of eyeing a new mattress for himself was playing dirty.
"Alright Adam, you're gonna be the test dummy today. I wanted to grab a new bed while we're here, and I'm gonna have you make a suggestion to help me decide which I should get. You can pick one too obviously, since that is why we came here."
Adam looked at him, confused already.
"What? Me? Wouldn't it be better to do it yourself?"
Seth smirks as if he was prepared for that question.
"Ideally yes, but I've been sleeping on these kinds of beds all my life. I've become desensitized, they all feel the same. So on that note, wouldn't it be better to have someone who isn't accustomed to high quality furniture try them out for me?"
Adam couldn't think of a valid counter argument.
"B-but…I-"
Seth delivers the final blow by giving Adam baby Pokemon eyes.
"Pleeeease?"
Adam turns red from frustration, and crosses his arms.
"F-fine. I'll try out the beds for you."
Seth perks up immediately, and continues walking.
"Wonderful! I've already had my eye on one. Follow me!"
Adam follows and looks away.
This fucking guy…
They reach a pure blue mattress in the back of the store and Seth gestures to it.
"There we go, this one. Try it out for me would ya?"
Adam grumbles to himself and sits on the mattress with a scowl. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Seth snicker, and grunts silently.
"Come on Adam. You have to at least lay on it a little. Get a real feel for it."
Adam sighs before flopping backwards and, as if by some sort of magic, was transported to a heavenly bed in a sun kissed sky. He felt as though he'd died and gone to the Afterlife, where Arceus was waiting for him. He could hear him calling out to him already.
"Adam…Adam…Adam!"
He sat back up, the divine world turning back into the mattress outlet, where his current employer was laughing and shaking him out of his dreamlike state.
"So how is it? I'm assuming it felt nice, you looked like you just inhaled a bunch of Foongus Spores. Pfft, you even drooled a little."
Adam looked back at the mattress, and blushes when he noticed the wet spot on the bed, and wiped his muzzle.
What the hell, I've never felt a bed that comfortable before! He sleeps like this normally?
Adam got off of the bed and patted it with his paws.
"Y-yeah… It's pretty nice."
Seth smiles slyly, and Adam does his best to avoid eye contact.
"Great. Let's move on then. There are a few more I want you to try out for me."
Adam groans and follows along. The two of them spend the next 20 minutes checking out beds, with each one being softer and more comfortable than the last. Adam was slowly being driven mad by the quality of each mattress. He hadn't slept that comfortably in a long time. When he got arrested he slept on a metal bed with blankets on it, and the bed he used now wasn't terrible, but he did become restless on some nights as a result of it being stiff.
By the time they were finished, Adam couldn't give Seth a single accurate description of the mattresses he tried. Seth sighed as they reached the entrance to the store.
"So…not a single one caught your attention? That's disappointing. Oh well. Let's get going Adam."
Adam was at a crossroads, he knew Seth was toying with him. Having tried all those mattresses, he reeeeally didn't want to give in, but each one was so comfortable and soft that he didn't want to pass up the chance to get at least one of them.
"W-wait! Um…"
Seth turned around and raised a brow.
"Hm? Something wrong?"
Adam turned redder, if that were even possible, and pointed to one of the mattresses in the back of the store.
"There was one I wanted to try again. Just to make extra sure it's nothing special. May I?"
Seth shrugs and chuckles a little, knowing exactly what Adam was doing.
"Sure thing, lead the way."
They go back to the first mattress Adam tried. The others may have been more comfortable and soft, but something about this one spoke to him the loudest. He pressed his face on the mattress, avoiding the drying wet spot, and relaxed completely. He let out a sigh and simultaneously released all of his pent up exhaustion.
His tail swayed slowly behind him, and he could feel every ounce his body relax as he let the soft fabric melt away his stress. He momentarily forgot all about his predicament…until he looked over and was met with the sly smile of his employer, who had taken up the space next to him.
"You like the mattress, don't you Adam?"
Adam turned beet red and stood back up immediately.
"N-no! I just wanted….I was just trying to… I….Yes I like the mattress."
Seth laughed and circled around him.
"Well Adam. If you want it, I'll happily buy it for you. But you know the rule."
Adam was blushing so hard the white colored parts on his face matched his crimson fur. He told himself he wouldn't ask for anything to avoid using that awkward way of addressing the Fox, but he heavily considered it in the face of such a mattress.
Ugh… I'm such a weakling…
Adam swallowed what little pride he had left, and bowed slightly to hide his face.
"If you don't mind…I'd appreciate it if you bought this mattress for me… S-sir."
Adam waited quietly for the teasing, or the laughter, or the poking fun, or the jabs. But surprisingly, nothing happened. He looked up to see Seth wearing a genuine smile.
"Of course. I'll go and have someone ring it up and arrange for an express delivery. You wait here, I'll be a moment."
Adam was pleasantly surprised, but even more confused. What reason could Seth have for wanting him to call him sir if not to make fun of him?
A few minutes later, Seth returned.
"Alrighty, they'll be delivering your mattress later today. Let's get going."
Adam wasn't sure what Seth was playing at, but he was being genuinely pleasant to him. He decided to think about it some other time, and enjoy the fact that he was getting a new mattress. If he wasn't going to make fun of him, then he was more than capable of calling him sir to get the things he wanted while they were out.
And he did. As they went from place to place, he found it easier to call Seth sir in order for him to buy something he wanted.
Some things needed to be delivered with the Mauville Speed Delivery system, like the 60 inch TV, a new desk, a new, larger, dresser, some shelves for books and other things, pillows and a new comforter set, and a mini fridge. Seth paid extra for same day delivery for every single item.
Everything else, Adam and Seth carried themselves. He also got a laptop, some posters, books, some body care products, figurines, and even some gift cards for music and streaming services. Seth suggested he get things to make him feel like he has some semblance of a normal life when he isn't working.
Adam was still baffled as to why someone would treat someone who was meant to be a criminal like this, but he didn't wish to question it right now. Most of the things Seth bought for him were things he could only dream of buying for himself. They were all very expensive and Seth paid for it all without batting an eye. Adam was slightly touched. He no longer felt awkward referring to him as sir, it was slightly respectable that he didn't poke fun at Adam for doing so, and he found it easier to continue as a result.
The last store they visited was Game Go. A popular gaming store present in almost every shopping outlet or mall.
"Other than the few times we played, have you played a lot of games Adam?"
Adam nodded as they entered the store.
"Yeah, I had a game system in my apartment with my ex. It was kind of old though, the new consoles are too expensive."
Seth chuckles as he begins to browse the gaming accessories.
"Well maybe we can get you one today. Have a look around, see if you can find something you want."
Adam nodded, trying not to show his excitement.
"Yes sir!"
He started to browse the new systems they actually carried on the shelf. He loved gaming, but he was out of the loop when it came to new consoles because he couldn't afford one, and thus stopped looking into them. He looked at the featured games, but wasn't really interested in any them.
Until he saw it. A Shift Ultra. He had bought the standard Shift when it came out years ago, but this was an upgrade. More space, a graphics upgrade, and even supported games from older systems. This is what he wanted.
Seth noticed him eyeing the box and walked over. Adam smiled as he kept reading the features.
"That's the Shift Ultra right? Is that what you wanted?"
Adam couldn't stop his tail from wagging as he looked at the box.
"Y-yes sir! I've wanted it for a while now actually."
For the first time that day, Seth looked a little pensive.
"Well, you know I'd get that for you, but I can actually do something better. You might have guessed this but my father is of a higher social status, and is friends with a lot of powerful people. So, between you and me-"
He leans in and whispers in Adam's ear.
"He was gifted a direct upgrade to the Shift Ultra a few weeks ago. It's called the Shift Omega. Not even on the market yet."
Adam's curiosity was piqued. He hadn't heard of it obviously but he didn't think companies just gave those kinds of things away.
"He doesn't play video games, so naturally, he had it sent to me. I had forgotten about it until now since I'm not much of a Shift player. So if you want it, you can have it. It's still brand new after all."
Adam looked at Seth in clear surprise. His tail wagged uncontrollably, and he put the system back.
"R-really? You'd just give something like that to me?"
Seth nodded and smiled.
"Of course! You're the only one who'd put it to good use. Otherwise it would sit in my closet and collect dust. So go ahead and browse some newer games and pick out the ones you want, or I can buy them from the online store when we get home, whichever you prefer."
Adam only nodded quickly in response. He hastily walked to the section that displayed the Shift games. He picked out a couple that he knew had released recently, as well as one he wanted for a while but never had a chance to buy.
He went back over to Seth and showed them to him.
"Nice choices. Here, I'll hold on to those. Would you do me a favor? I realized I left my shades on the counter in the Body Beyond a few shops down. Mind grabbing them for me? I'll meet you over there after I pay, and we can get going."
Adam handed him the game cases, and nodded in affirmation.
"Of course! I'll be right back."
He turned to leave, before quickly exiting the store. He hadn't even realized Seth took his shades off.
While walking over to the Body Beyond, he thought about why he was suddenly okay with calling Seth sir when he felt so awkward doing it before. He knew it was partially because he wasn't being made fun of for doing so, but was it also because he was rewarded with gifts? He knew they were coming here to shop for his room, but Seth also said he rarely comes here to shop in person…so surely he would have seen some things he wanted for himself, right? Yet they've only looked at and bought things for Adam…
Wait… was his plan actually to condition me into being comfortable talking to and being around him by doing this? And it worked? Maybe he isn't a complete airhead like I thought…
He found the shades sitting on the counter just like Seth said they were, but as he was about to leave, he ran into a familiar face.
"Oh! Hello Adam."
Detective Vega was standing right behind him. Adam smiled and offered a slight wave.
The two of them had kept minimal contact since Adam texted him, as he wasn't meant to do anything seen as "tampering" with the progress of his investigation, like attempting to win the Detective over or cloud his judgment in any way. This was also only their third time meeting in person. Adam would never forget their second. He looked down in embarrassment after remembering.
"H-hello Detective, what brings you here?"
Victor picks up some shampoo and looks it over.
"I was just stopping by to grab some things, and saw you walk in here. Decided to say hi and see how things were going."
Adam nodded.
"Oh- Well that's nice of you. I'm doing alright actually, thank you."
Victor smiles slightly.
"I see you have a normal uniform today, is the maid dress thing a common occurrence?"
Adam turns bright red and waves his paws in defense.
"N-no! This is my normal uniform, that was just a prank being played on me I swear!"
Victor chuckles and puts the shampoo bottle back down.
"Don't worry, I understand. I was just trying to lighten the mood. Have you been alright?"
Adam sighs and relaxes a little.
"Yes, I've been okay. We're just doing some shopping today, it's nice to get out of the house."
Victor nods and eyes some fur gloss.
"That's good then. Where is your boss? I've yet to meet him in person."
Before Adam could speak, Seth rounded the corner into the shop.
"Hey Adam, you wanna go to the food court? I'm starv- Oh! Hello…Detective Vega right?"
Victor nods, and reaches out for a pawshake.
"Yes. I take it you're Seth Zenabrin, it's a pleasure. I was just running some errands when I saw Mr. Stonehide here alone. Is everything alright?"
Seth nods and walks up behind Adam, putting his elbows on his shoulders to lean on him.
"Yup! We were just shopping, and I sent him over to grab my sunglasses that I left here. Speaking of, did you find them?"
Adam hands him the sunglasses that he'd been fidgeting with since Seth walked in. He was slightly nervous about how Seth would act in front of someone he has a formal relationship with. It was Seth's fault he wore a maid uniform the last time he met Detective Vega after all.
"Y-yes sir."
Victor takes note of Adam's sudden change in attitude. What reason would he have to be nervous around this Zoroark? He took a mental note to observe their relationship moving forward, considering that Adam was there to live out his community service, and to put all his efforts in finding the truth. He adjusts his glasses before turning slightly to leave.
"Well, it was nice meeting you. Mr. Stonehide, Mr. Zenabrin, you both have a good day."
Victor quickly steps away, leaving the two confused at the abrupt end to their conversation. Adam looks up at Seth, who was still leaning on his shoulders.
"Where to now sir?"
Seth thinks for a moment, before his stomach grumbles.
"Well, I guess we could try out the food court. I'm starving. Then we can head home."
Adam nods, and follows as Seth leaves.
After choosing from the wide range of actual restaurants in the food court, the two stop for a quick bite, making sure to grab something for Klaus, who had been waiting patiently for them to return in the car.
As they walk through the parking lot, Adam takes the chance to ask Seth a question.
"Um…sir…can I ask you something?"
Seth, who'd been walking in front of Adam, looks back at him curiously.
"Sure, what's up?"
Adam looks to his side nervously.
"It's about the rule you told me about… Is that really your shopping rule? I figured you were trying to mess with me somehow, or that you would make fun of me once I actually did it, or even for giving in so quickly…"
Seth chuckled and looked back at Adam with a smile.
"Well, it actually isn't, no. I was messing with you, but you looked so cu- composed when you said it the first time, I figured I'd leave it be and let you do so until you got comfortable. Besides, it's better than not addressing me directly when you talk to me, or calling me Mr. Seth like I'm your 90 year old neighbor."
Adam giggled a little at his analogy, he didn't feel right calling him Mr. Seth either, it made him cringe internally. He was relieved that he had a way of addressing Seth respectfully that felt natural.
"Heh, alright, thank you."
Adam smiles at him, and Seth turns to look forward.
"Y-yeah…no problem."
The two walk back to the car, and Klaus drives them all home.
By the time they arrived at Seth's manor, the delivery truck from the Mauville Delivery System had already arrived. Adam could see the drivers unloading some of the items they already bought.
Wow, express delivery doesn't mess around, if only same day delivery online was this efficient.
They patiently wait for the delivery drivers to take all of the items out of the truck, as Adam takes the bags they were carrying to his room.
Together, Seth and Klaus use Psychic to carry all of the items to the hall just outside of Adam's room. The group then works together to help Adam decorate. First they replace Adam's shoddy old mattress with the new one. Then they replace the old dresser and desk. Adam hangs the posters, and sets the mini fridge next to his bed. Klaus helps him install the shelves above his bed and above his desk, while Seth sneaks away. Finally, they bring in the TV and hang it on the wall to the left of his desk, before bringing in the comforter set Adam picked out.
Adam stood in the doorway with Klaus to admire his handiwork.
It looks like my old apartment bedroom, but bigger.
He smiled as he was reminded of the apartment he owned before he decided to rent a different one with Ethan. He had lived by himself for a long time, so he could always decorate how he wanted. He chuckled thinking about how his style never changed. He did keep all of that stuff when he moved, but he had no idea what could possibly have happened to it by now.
Who knows what they did with my stuff, hopefully it's still in the apartment and not being auctioned off somewhere.
Klaus floated in with the uniforms from the old dresser.
"Is everything alright Mr. Stonehide?"
Adam nods and takes some of them, and helps him put them away.
"Yeah everything's fine. I just never thought that simply redecorating would remind me of an old home."
Klaus smiles and puts the rest of the uniforms in the dresser.
"Well hopefully that helps you grow more comfortable. I believe we've done a wonderful job in making this room feel more homely. Have a good night Mr. Stonehide."
He floats away, leaving Adam alone for the night. Or so he thought. When he turned around, he saw Seth sitting on his bed, making him jump.
"Augh! Sir, where did you come from, and where did you go? You disappeared out of nowhere."
Seth laughed and got up to look around.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. I was just going to find that-"
He pointed to the box on Adam's desk. Adam could feel himself growing excited, he hurried over and picked up the box. It was a normal box, likely because they hadn't made a special box for the system inside it. He carefully opened it, and eyed the Shift Omega system. It looked larger and sleeker than the Shift Ultra, and a lot smoother than the Shift he had before everything happened.
He smiles, thankful that someone would give him something this nice just because he wanted it. He looked up at Seth, who was putting the games he bought on the new shelf.
"I don't know what to say… I just…. I have to know. Why? I've asked you before but why are you treating me like this? I know you said you treat servants like family, but there has to be more to it than that, right? You wouldn't let a criminal into your home and treat him like family would you?"
Seth stands silently for a moment, before taking a seat next to Adam.
"You should really stop calling yourself a criminal, Adam. You and I both know it's not true."
Adam was confused.
"W-what? What makes you say that?"
Seth sighs and scoots back so he could lean against the wall.
"Because I know the truth Adam. I know for a fact that you aren't the serial burglar the police have been trying to catch for the last couple years."
Adam lowered his head, having felt foolish for assuming things about Klaus and Seth.
"How did you know?"
Seth looks up at the ceiling.
"My home was among the first to be broken into and robbed by whoever the real criminal was. I had been staying here since I was a child, and Klaus suggested that I finally put out an ad saying I was looking for people to work as live-in servants in my manor. I was skeptical at first, but I don't regret it, nor do I blame him for what happened.
Fortunately, none of the people I hired were working with the one who stole from me, but my assumption was that he either saw the ad and assumed I was wealthy, or he heard about my manor from someone who applied and got a job here, and came to see for himself.
Either way, he showed up. I only caught sight of him because Klaus managed to secure footage of him as he escaped through the front yard. All of the other cameras short-circuited, except one hidden camera in one of the trees in the driveway. It isn't connected to the main security system. And it caught something vital. He was moving too fast for his face to be seen clearly, but not fast enough to not be seen at all. The long yellow tail and clear proficiency with sabotaging electronics told me he was an Electric Pokemon.
I submitted that report to the police, hoping they could make use of it, but clearly I was wrong.
So a few months ago, when they said they'd caught the burglar after all this time, and that I could claim my stolen items, and I saw you, I knew something was wrong. One of the officers, a Persian I think, pointed out that you were the one they caught. I asked if they were sure, and I was told "the evidence was all there." But I saw you, I could tell you'd been crying, you were muzzled and chained. I couldn't let you be punished as a result of a clear mistake. I paid your bail, and requested that you be brought here to work for me.
I will admit, that while I didn't believe you were the one who broke into my home before, I knew there was a chance that you were working with the one who did, or even covering for them somehow. I'd be putting myself and my loved ones at risk.
But seeing you in that cell, appearing hopeless and sleeping while still cuffed and muzzled, something told me to trust my instincts and help you. And I don't regret it. You've been working diligently ever since you arrived, and have been a genuine pleasure to have around. I never believed you to be a criminal in the first place."
Adam couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was touched that someone truly believed in his innocence, and couldn't stop himself from giving Seth a tight hug. He nestled himself in his shoulder, catching Seth off guard.
"Thank you... You don't know how nice it is to hear that, after everything I've been through."
Seth looks away for a moment and pats Adam's back.
"Of course… my one question is…How did you end up in that situation? How did they mistake you for him?"
Adam looks down sadly.
"The real criminal is my… was my boyfriend. I learned he was lying about where he was going at night and decided to follow him, thinking he might have been cheating on me. I confronted him about it that night…but I guess someone saw us and called the police- I don't know. They found us, but only saw me. They knocked me out before arresting me…but him…he got away. I haven't seen him since."
Seth looked down in shock.
"Well, did you tell them your story? That you weren't the right one?"
Adam sighed.
"I would have if they let me. I woke up muzzled and they never even let me speak. I would have been sent right to prison if it weren't for you. You actually…you saved me… And him? He's nothing to me now. I know it sounds like I'm done caring about him, but honestly I try not to think about it. It hurts…"
Adam had been so occupied with his situation that he didn't have to try not to think about his heartbreak. Ethan was someone he loved after all. They had been together for a few years before this all happened, and to suddenly be thrust into a situation like this at the fault of your partner was all but heartbreaking. He really did avoid thinking about it, he didn't want to cry over someone like that. He hadn't realized that he had begun to do that exact thing while hugging Seth.
Meanwhile, Seth was filled with sympathy. He had no idea that Adam's situation was that complicated. Not only was he falsely accused, arrested, and nearly imprisoned but his heart was broken as well. Unaware he was doing so he'd put an arm around the now crying Lycan's shoulder to comfort him.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that Adam. But what of Detective Vega? You two seemed to have a formal relationship, surely that wouldn't be the case if he felt as though you were guilty."
Adam wiped his tears and nodded.
"Yeah… he saw me in the cell there when I woke up and was disturbed by the fact that I wasn't being given a trial. Apparently he was out of town when everything happened. He offered to reopen the investigation and is looking for evidence to prove whether or not I'm the true culprit. He's the only other person who doesn't fully believe I'm a criminal. He made me feel hopeful when I thought things couldn't get any worse."
Seth nodded.
"That's great to hear. I'm sure he'll make things right."
Adam finally releases him from their prolonged hug, and sniffs one final time. He'd been trying to be strong and hold in his emotions, but finally being able to let them out felt wonderful. He got up and turned towards Seth with a smile.
"Thank you… I…mean that, it feels nice knowing that someone understands the truth. With Detective Vega investigating, I had decided to do what I was told and keep my head above water, and not make more trouble for myself until he was finished, but now it feels like the air is clear, and I can relax."
Seth gets up and returns the sincere smile.
"Of course. I'm happy I could help. I'm going to turn in for the night however. You should relax before bed."
Adam nods as Seth leaves his room.
"Of course, goodnight sir."
He flops on his bed. He was no longer mentally stressed, as his constant fear of the possibility of him going to prison had all but faded away by now.
Who'd have thought they knew this entire time.
He couldn't help but smile. He may still be a servant, but at least he could make an effort to enjoy himself a little more. Seth actually seemed nice, and he already got along pretty well with Klaus. He'd rarely spoken with Howie, who he learned lives in the kitchen, which only himself and Klaus are allowed in, and Seth is banned from.
Maybe things aren't so bad after all.
He turns off the lights, and falls asleep in seconds, a smile on his face the entire time.
(End Chapter)
