Castlevania: Finale of the Dark Ballad

Announcement: Reboot plans

Hello again and man, it's been a long time, a little over a decade, really since I've given this story any attention and for good reason, quite frankly, it's not that good and back then I just rushed major plot points and ideas forward and had weird expository dialogue, so I regret that to be honest. The name of this new story will be Castlevania: Requiem of the Dark Reign.

This reboot will have a higher quality of writing and more central characters taken from the fangame Castlevania: Seal of the Eclipse since it's the only reference for the Demon Castle War's cast even though it's non-canon. The war is the biggest supernatural conflict in recorded history with the militaries of world powers getting involved and the Holy Church, Mages Association and Burial Agency cooperating in the war against Dracula, the forces of Chaos, the Order of the Dragon and the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors.

The protagonists will still be Julius Belmont and his Servant Saber Artoria Pendragon and Julius respects her as the king his ancestor, Leon Belmont served and he sees her as his second most powerful asset against Dracula after the Vampire Killer. Julius is only 19 in the story, so he's young and still trying to comprehend his role as the final weapon against Dracula. However, Julius and Saber eventually have a strained relationship when she finds out Dracula was her old love, Mathias Cronqvist. Julius in this story was raised and trained by Jonathan Morris and Charlotte Aulin in both combat and magic and he becomes the best Belmont since Richter. It's Jonathan that gives him the catalyst to summon Saber.

Alucard's Servant will be changed, this time he will summon Rider Medb and their dynamic will be of clashing opposites, Alucard is cold and reserved and Medb demands affection and attention and is deeply frustrated by his indifference to her advances. Alucard in this story is conflicted since he worked for centuries to find a way to permanently destroy his father, yet the idea of his patricide being permanent this time weighs heavy on him. In this story, Alucard helped found the Holy Grail War hoping it could one day lead to Dracula's final demise.

Dracula's Servant will be Ruler Morgan le Fay and like with Artoria, he has a history with her as Mathias. Morgan knew Mathias since he was a child being raised by Artoria and along with Merlin and Rinaldo Gandolfi, she was one of his magecraft and alchemy instructors. Her feelings for Mathias turn from maternal to romantic as he matures and she has a deep-seated jealousy of his love and loyalty to Artoria. Initially, Dracula keeps his previous identity a secret from Morgan since in life, he never truly trusted her and knowing her part in Artoria's demise, he could never trust her, no matter how loving and loyal she is. Death usually has fun antagonising Morgan.

Elizabeth Bathory will be present in the story, but not in as a Lancer Servant but as a Master this time and her Servant is Archer Tam Lin Lancelot/Baobhan Sith. Elizabeth is madly in love with Dracula and has been since she was human and when he rescued her and turned her, her love only grew and she's one of his most fanatical and devoted followers. She and Archer have a bizarre relationship, they despise each other about as much as they love each other, so they're belligerent lovers in a strange sexual relationship. Baobhan Sith also loves and admires Dracula and she's in constant competition with Elizabeth despite her status as her Servant and begrudging lover.

Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia will be a Master as well and like in the original canon, his Servant will be Lancer Fionn Mac Cumhaill. Darnic wants to play all sides not only to get the Holy Grail, but to unlock Dracula's alchemy and dark magecraft secrets. He allies himself with Julius and Alucard simply because he wants to survive and he knows he won't be spared from Dracula's death sentence to humanity.

Michael Roa Valdamjong of the Dead Apostle Ancestors will also be a Master in the war and his Servant is Caster Mephistopheles. Roa in life, was obsessed with the teachings of the Cronqvist family and he was one of the first people other than Leon Belmont to find out that Mathias Cronqvist became Dracula. Roa searched for Dracula and eventually became one of his students in alchemy and dark magecraft. Mephistopheles and Roa get along well, both of them being sinister people who trick others into contracts with false promises, they usually spend their free time scheming together.

Narbareck, the director of the Burial Agency will also be a Master and her Servant is Berserker "Wolf Man" whose true identity is the werewolf, Cornell. Narbareck treats Cornell like a dog at times and it annoys the werewolf, but he has to tolerate her behaviour. To say they don't get along is an understatement since Narbereck's from the Holy Church and Cornell's a creature of the night.

The final Master is the witch Actrise and her Servant is Assassin Jack the Ripper. Actrise is a manipulative witch who was revived by Dracula to serve as one of his followers. In life, she sacrificed the life of her own child and countless other children to attain eternal beauty. Jack adores Actrise and sees her as a mother and she in turn treats her like a daughter, but actually doesn't care about her at all, seeing her as yet another pawn to use so she can gain Dracula's favour. Actrise is a modified version of the character from Castlevania's N64 timeline to fit into the main timeline.

This story will also shed light on Dracula's past with the Dead Apostle Ancestors and his rise as the Dark King, but before that when he was newly turned, he was chosen by Crimson Moon Brunestud to be the teacher of his two daughters, Altrouge and Arcueid. Unfortunately for Dracula, who was still Mathias at the time, history would repeat itself and both sisters would fall for him over the decades and like Morgan before her, Altrouge would grow jealous of his closeness to Arcueid, though he would abandon them both when he took the name Dracula.

In this story, there's a major change, Lisa is not Dracula's wife and Adrian/Alucard's mother but instead that role is taken by Jeanne d'Arc. The love between the King of Vampires and a Holy Maiden was something none of them ever imagined and as a result, their son, Adrian Inherited both dark and holy powers. The death of a holy maiden at the hands of humans caused Dracula to fall into madness and further curse God and sentence humanity to extinction, thus turning him into the Dark King and the fundamental antithesis to God. As she lay dying, Jeanne made Alucard promise not to hate humans or do them harm and to tell Dracula that she would love him for eternity. This final promise would go on to shape the rest of Alucard's eternity and have him swear to stop his father's genocide.

Other Dead Apostles who will appear in this story are Vlov Arkhangel, Merem Solomon and Gransurg Blackmore, more might appear depending on how the Tsukihime remake universe plays out.

Altrouge and Arcueid will be important characters in the story as well both of them investigating Dracula since whispers of his true identity made it to them. I'll write more about their roles once I've played the Tsukihime Remake.

So, there's my plan for rebooting this story, Castlevania: Minuet of a Cursed Fate will also get a reboot titled "Fate of Sorrow", I'll come up with an outline for that in the future. This story is still a long way off, but I'll start planning for it immediately. I hope none of you are too disappointed at the original story being scrapped because honestly, it kinda sucked. Fate of the Dragon might also get a reboot, this time accounting for Morgan le Fay being a full character this time around. Fate/Eternal Night is still being worked on as an AU and I might work on a Fate/Apocrypha story in the future that takes inspiration from Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Until then, have a great year.

Now to answer my reviewers.

Alhazad2003

Man, I haven't seen you in ages, I hope you're doing alright. I made several changes and now Alucard summoned an even bigger fangirl and including Jonathan seemed like a no-brainer to me since he deserves to see his family's part in Dracula's demise. Dracula has allies from his past as well.

Zero-Nightmare

Thanks.

Julius will be young and inexperienced, but determined and well-trained.

Saber's in for a world of hurt, especially in this new version of the story.

Yeah, and it's still the same this time around, though Medb's arguably worse.

Thanks, and see you as well.
