Malty found herself in an emergency meeting, a meeting to discuss the plans and the procedures that will be in place as long as the waves last. She was seated at the round table in the room where she had become a knight in, leaning back in her chair with the hat of her military uniform covering the upper half of her face. This meeting was pointless in her eyes but since she was still the crown princess as of now she had to attend in some capacity, or at least that's what her mother insisted. Speaking of her mother, Mirellia had just announced that she was leaving the country to discuss with other allied nations... Well, other nations about the distribution of the heroes and when they will be summoned to deal with the current state of the world, of course, Malty knows what is going to happen there, and how the events over the next fortnight will transpire. Though that was in her mind she had other things to think about, and she had no time for greedy men and women of the realm arguing over what they desired for their land being too selfish to offer what was needed to the land most affected. Her eyes landed on a girl from under her cap close to her age either too shy or still mourning the death of her father to bring to court the desperate situation that was the region on the coast. The region that the raccoon girl from her vision was from, she made a mental note to approach her after this meeting was done to offer her support.
"I am done with this, all don't care if the people most affected by this starve, especially you." A fat man that she recognized as Idol Rabier, the raccoon girl's next master, spoke pointing at Malty. The girl repulsed as the portly man eyed her from across the table. "This is no place for children, little girls, at least not one that likes playing dress up."
Malty knew that not showing herself in court was probably not the best option, but six years surely was not enough time to forget the crown princess' defining features. Malty scoffed, letting out a dry laugh in response. An eerie silence took over court as the two of them continued their confrontation, Idol at a loss at the audacity of this female knight. "I apologize Lord Rabier, but I have not heard anyone in your shape say that they were starving." Her laughter was at its loudest after that statement. "No one takes your request seriously when you are clearly so rotund, my lord."
"Of all the impudent..." The man got up from his seat and started walking towards Malty, only to be stopped by a man in full-plate armor and a sword at his throat. "What is this garbage?" The man replied to the threat.
"What a farce..." Malty began sitting up straight and turning to her mother, seated to her left. "Am I really needed for this mother, I would rather read the reports and act accordingly than listen to a bunch of old men and women argue over which self-important fool ranks above the other while the region that suffers the most remains quiet." She took a quick glance at the lady in question who shrunk into herself as soon as the words left by Malty.
"And what would you have me do, dear girl." The queen looked between Malty and Idol, taking what amusement she could from the situation.
"I could not care less." Malty spoke done with everything that was happening, getting up from her chair and promptly walking over to the other girl who seemed to not want to be there, the heir to the raccoon girl's home Eclair Seaetto and kneeling before her, getting audible gasps from the room. "My apologies my lady, your father was the right hand of my mother so I knew him well, not that is an excuse. But if you need more time to mourn then take it, I owe you that much for the headaches I had given your father." Malty spoke with a wide grin from underneath her uniform cap. "Take leave from court to do what you need, and leave any demands you have had for the crown with my men and I will see it done." Malty said in a commanding tone, the bordered red glow of her eyes looking into Eclair's.
Eclair herself took several moments to process the princess' words, looking at the queen briefly as confirmation she got a slight curl of the lips in response and nodded at the crown princess. "If it is no more trouble for you, I will take you up on that offer." She spoke, surprised as Malty closed the distance as her lips were at the noble's ear. A whisper was shared between the two and the room waited on the outcome. Eclair nodded as the two separated, Malty taking her gloved hand and pulling the to-be lady up on her feet.
"Since it is alright with you we should discuss this in private." Malty said as she gently guided the other woman by the hand. The knight in full armor moves to be behind the princess and her charge. Some of the nobility were on the cusp of speaking their minds but were quickly silenced by a glare from the queen. Malty was undeterred as the two of them left, the knight behind her until she reached the door. A subtle quick gaze was all it took for the man to stop at the threshold of the door offering her a sault before moving to its side and posting up inside the room watching over it.
There was nothing that surprised the queen as much as her oldest daughter. 'If she did not want to be here then she did not have to be, but it was good to see her again.' She looked after her 'daughter' who had crossed over the threshold. "It has been interesting to see you again dear girl, once you have completed your duties you shall join me for tea, should you not?"
Malty stopped in her tracks as her pale blue eyes pierced Mirellia in fear, she had been found out. There was one person her age that had tea with the queen, and it was a certain maid that was not supposed to be here, a maid that felt guilt over the same queen's son, Malty's little brother. She was quick to compose herself, letting go of Eclair and curtsying a gesture foreign to the first princess when it came to the queen. "It would be an honour... Ma'am." She stumbles on completing the sentence, which was noticed but was quickly disregarded.
"Great, you may leave." The two young ladies shortly exited without a single word.
(...)
Malty woke up stretching, taking stock of the room that she had woken up in, and seeing that she was in her childhood room in the palace located in the capitol letting out a heavy sigh, she scratched the back of her head looking down at a little blonde girl sleeping next to her shaking her awake. 'I surely spoil you too much.' It only took three or four shakes to wake the girl with the physique of a ten-year-old. "Time to wake up Filo." Malty spoke to the girl with a soft voice.
"Five more minutes, mama."
"We have talked about this Filo." Her voice had a hint of annoyance but she still talked to her sweetly, she grimaced slightly when the girl snuggled up to her side. She still can't believe that the bird had a human form but all of her visions were accurate so far so she had no choice in the matter. She gave Filo one more shake before giving up and lying the girl's head on her lap and combed through her hair with her hand.
"You weren't a morning person either, Malty, since we were kids at least, from what I remember." Malty's senses were on full alert as she looked at her exact copy sitting in a military uniform in a chair across from the bed. "You want me to make my report now, or do you want to rest further? You both had an interesting night yesterday." She spoke with Malty relaxing.
"Oh, it's you, Rein." Malty spoke, addressing her copy, being met with a small smile. "You can do either, we are in no rush if our plans have not been yielded by any unforeseen events." She looked up to see Rein flinch. "What is it? Don't tell me that something has gone awry."
Rein let out a prolonged breath as she found her lap with her eyes. "Queen Mother..." She began somehow finding Mirellia somehow terrifying. "Queen Mother... invited us for tea…" Malty shrugged so Rein had to explain further to get the true gravity of the situation. "The both of us..."
That got Malty to flinch, it was not the first time that Rein has been doing her duties, but it was a first for her double to be caught mid-act. Malty was not hiding the reality of her double from her mother, that woman, her stats, she was in a different dimension from both of them. "I guess we have to improve our little act, Rein, maybe we can keep it up when we do meet later."
"You are being very nonchalant about this Malty." Rein said, crossing her arms beneath her chest, taken back at her disregard for the seriousness of the situation. She however was at a loss, Rein had perfected the princess' mannerisms and speech to a degree that they were able to fool even the men at Malty's command.
Malty lifted the head of the little girl on her lap to vacate the bed as her hair transformed into a deep silver, all the while addressing Rein. "That's because I have a health fear of my parents, I have seen what they are capable of, and believe when I say this Rein..." She spoke walking, closing the distance. "What happened to my brother is not in any way your fault." She continued lifting Rein's chin with a hand. "What happened that day was a freak accident." Malty's face twists slightly and then returns to neutral but with a skinnier jawline and darker complexion. "Even if it wasn't, that would not matter. As long as you are at my side. No one would question it, no one would dare to. You belong to me now, and I will not allow anyone to take you away from me."
Rein forced Malty to let go of her jerking her head back and staring at the princess with a straight face. "Please, I rather you not say that with my face." Rein watched as Malty shrugged at those words and leaned in.
"You say that but..." She leaned in further until she was level with Rein's ear. "I find them rather fitting, princess." Malty whispered in the other girl's ear. Pleased with herself, Malty put some distance between them to examine Rein's reaction.
Said the girl sat in her chair unmoved and unimpressed. "So can I give my report, or should I take you in an embrace and initiate something debaucherous." Rein commented slyly
Malty scoffed before offering her reply. "What do you seriously see me as? Narcissism is not a word that I would describe myself as." She sighed combing through her hair. "Well, out with it, how is our situation with that Eclair girl? Did she agree after witnessing that waste of space."
"Lady Seaetto has agreed to our services after today's proceedings, I have even secured a meeting with you so you can converse with her yourself before she returns to her territory." Rein was down to business recounting the day's events to the princess in disguise. Ending her report with the confrontation with Idol. She wasn't so sure that provocation was the best solution to the challenge they face, but she could not for the life of her argue about the results. "I don't see why this was all necessary, with how pitiful he was."
"He will come to have possession of what belongs to me..." Malty's face was deadly serious looking at what on any other would be a mirror image of herself before continuing. "Our objective is still the same, I am going to finish those who are foolish enough to rebel against the crown."
