XVII: Give me a break

Harry launched his lightning attack as the mouth swallowed him had an unexpected side-effect. The distinctive rumble of thunder reverberated across the desert waking the small flotilla of travellers and their huntspersonal escort. "Shit...just what we need; Blind Worms and a lightning sandstorm at night." Snarled Carmine as she eyed their barricades.

"Will those hold?" Yatsuhashi asked calmly, he wasn't looking at the walls but rather the katana; which was now glowing a much brighter silver.

"They'll hold. I'll ensure they do." Bertilak growled "Carmine, CFVY; all of you are going to have to keep them off us." The Mace-wielder stated as he placed his hands on the glass barriers and began to activate his semblance.

Unfortunately; the Alpha Blindworm hit the strengthening glass wall very much akin to a wrecking ball. However, the Grimm in question stopped and let out a primal roar before falling over. On the other hand, as the Alpha collapsed and began to dissolve; three more re Blind Worms appeared.

Despite their unfamiliarity with each other; Carmine and CFVY launched themselves at the younger Blind Worms. Just because they were younger didn't mean that they were any less vicious, only, slightly reduced in size. Velvet had found herself next to Carmine, both of them were getting pushed backwards as a Blind-Worm kept trying to bore down on them; but Bertilak's skill with his Semblance was slowing them down.

Fox, Coco and Yatsuhashi had managed to defeat one, when a lance of fire seared across the desert slamming into the worm. The lance had come from the wrecked body of the Alpha Blindworm; Velvet felt her eyes begin to glass over as a burnt, rag wearing and utterly bedraggled looking Hadrian Branwen cut himself free, madness and battlelust causing his eyes to glitter with madness.

"Honey, I'm home. Now…" His neck cracked "Let me take out the trash." Carmine went to chastise the newcomer, only to see lightning beginning to flicker around him. The sword had been swapped for the katana.

"Phaseshift...straight!" Harry growled, the lightning crackled and Harry vanished. In Carmine and Velvet's eyes he appeared to transform into a lightning bolt and vanish from view. However, Harry pulled on the ambient dust in the atmosphere and funnelled it into his body, normally he'd do this to increase his reflexes, speed, agility and other physical aspects but now he was channelling the lightning and manipulating it to enhance the neuron activity accelerating them beyond Olympic Athlete levels. Due to the levels of electricity and the need for it to go places otherwise combustion, Harry began to vibrate or phase for a better word. In this state, his body was in a state of complete flux allowing for complete and utter freedom of movement.

Normally this would mean he'd dissolve if not for the fact his soul and magical core wouldn't allow him to. The soul and semblance allowed the physical body to extraordinary feats; feats that could be seen as 'superpowers' and as a result of belief and enjoyment in comic-books coupled with magic making dreams reality, it allow for Harry to move at speed on par with lightning. Before, he'd only be able to do it over 200 metres, but with Salem's interference and possessing an active magical core and semblance it reached 1500metres.

At around five metres from Harry to the Blindworm...the result was messy. The lightning wielding teen flooded his body and sword with lightning, lightning doesn't shred but pierces. Harry hit the Blindworm at close to Mach 364 the result was a flash of light, a deafening rumble of thunder and an utterly obliterated Blindworm. Harry stopped dead, body shaking terribly as his body temporarily locked down to disperse the energy. "I'm Harry Branwen; that was Phaseshift."

Carmine was already moving, with her semblance; telekinesis, she was able to move Harry's paralysed form. "Now's the time to act. And too think, Scarlatina had such a powerful boyfriend…The King and Queen will be most pleased."

Bertilak was thinking along much similar lines. The flotilla were tied by ropes, it was going to be rather simple. The old man and his grandson, their original targets were safely sequestered away from the group. Bertilak headed to the cluster of ropes "We're leaving and we're leaving now."

This was always the shitty part, Bertilak thought, CFVY, they had potential but Bertilak saw himself in them. The drive to do good and to save others "This isn't personal, this is just business. The charade must continue."

"I've not seen anyone with a semblance, quite like that before." Carmine stated as she used her semblance to levitate the paralysed Harry.

Velvet smiled "He's generally worse; he arrived in a fiery crash, walked here, killed two Grimm and is only paralysed by his own abilities…I've never seen that side-effect before, the paralysis, I mean."

Carmine chuckled "I'll move him to the flotilla then leave him to rest." Inside she was grinning gleefully, "This is way too easy…Unfortunately, retrieving his weapons may not be viable; but from what I saw, he doesn't need a weapon to be dangerous as he is one." Oh, the bonus monetary pay for bringing this one to the Crown would be immense.

Carmine made it to the flotilla and tenderly placed Harry on her sand-skiff. She kept watch until Harry collapsed bonelessly into a fitful slumber. "Everyone it's time to move; everyone please remain calm, for the more we panic and succumb to our fears the more Grimm that will attack us." Stated Coco.

It didn't take too long for the flotilla of nine skiffs, containing close to a hundred people; protected by six huntspersonal began to move.

(Neville et al.)

The arrival at Patch had been well received, slightly disturbing as Summer had met them at bladepoint. Taiyang was there as well, the duo of professional huntsmen gave Hermione, Dean and Seamus an eight week extreme crash course into huntsmen training and unlocked their aura.

It turned out Dean's semblance was linked to Water and Ice dust, Water dust being one of the rarer elemental dusts to be found but in any state was the most stable and long-lived. Given what Neville knew of Dean's artistic abilities and how Water was linked to the mind-arts and healing, he shuddered.

Seamus had a semblance he quickly named 'Banshee Wail', a scream enhanced with wind dust could destroy their surroundings.

Hermione's was surprisingly enough a domestication type semblance; aligned to Cats.

"You're going to need to head to Haven, Mystral or Shade in Vacuo. Your best bet for weaponry would be to acquire it on the road and then modify it. With CCT gone from all nations, your ability to communicate with other groups is going to be difficult; stay sharp, trust your skills and training." Taiyang said gravely.

"If you see Harry, Ruby and Yang give them my love."

Neville nodded "Team Lion, let's roll."

"We need a new name." Hermione chirped as the four of them set out in the early morning hours.

(Qrow and RNJR)

"We saw the smoke from over Kurogiri; let's hustle, we've a group of extremely lost young huntsmen and a downed hunter. Scorpion venom in his blood." Ordered the Pilot.

The flight, even with all of the urgency was exhilarating for Ruby. Yes, her uncle who was actually her father was in immense danger; aside from that she felt free. "Enjoying the trip?" It was one of the Mistral Pilots.

"My...brother, loves to fly or rather loves any travel of speed and doesn't require feet. We've not had many interactions due to lack of knowledge that the other existed. He should be in Vacuo."

"You realise you're way off course for Vacuo."

"I know. My brother has more lives than a cat, a tendency for a quip and a joke. He'll probably catch up to us in a dramatic but impractical manner."

The pilot sighed "Like walking out of a fire from an anime?"

"Something like that. He has a penchant for lightning and a song called 'Immigrant Song'."

The Pilot sighed "Your Uncle's probably going to make it." As they cleared the cloud-cover "Welcome to Mistral."

Ruby's jaw dropped as did Jaune's "Ruby, we made it!"

"That we did. Now; let's hope my brother has made it back."
