Quirks Not Required 21
Hisashi and Daiten landed heavily in the lab. Daitens' suit began to retract until all that it resembled was a purple underside to his interactive watch.
"Successful mission?"
"One Viper, successfully extracted. One fucked up or dead hero and thirteen non-heroes. So, you call it Successful. I call it a clusterfuck." Kato snapped.
"Why so annoyed? It feels almost like you were set up." Came the idly amused tone of All For One.
"You…you son of a bitch. You set me up!"
"I did. Need I remind you Kato-kun, who finances you. Who oversees your work. The only person I trust remotely is Garaki, he might trust you and I do to an extent. So I figured I would test you, you passed by the way. I do love to see how a man holds to his ideals. Also, Tempura hasn't let up on the fact that you're 'evading' him like 'some dex-based Rogue.'
Kato chuckled "Of course he is. He launched a reckless attack at UA without thinking All Might was going to turn up. Or even that the rest of the faculty would arrive… anyway, if that's everything."
Hisashi stared at Kato "Have you seen…"
"A boy, green hair and kinda on the short side? Yeah I have. He's thriving."
"I thought he was Quirkless."
"And I thought you walked out on him."
Hisashi snarled and the temperature soared exponentially as flames became whip around his body. "What…I…did…I did for the pair of them."
"I find that hard to believe."
"His quirk manifested at a young age. It was so potent that it damn near killed his mother! My own quirk whilst on record said it was 'fire-breathing'." Hisashi snorted "As you can clearly see, it's not."
"Time…has evidently done wonders on your dramatic tension and stating the fucking obvious." Kato replied dryly, dismissing the enraged Flame Villain.
"Peace. Kato, Hisashi came to your teacher to take young Midoriya's quirk. It truly had activated early and nearly killed the pair of them. Hisashi has worked for me since then."
Kato nodded "I don't want to hear any more of this. I will pretend I didn't hear any of this and return to my inventions." With that he vanished in smoke caused by Kurogiri.
(Viper)
"I don't trust him."
All For One chuckled "Then don't. Daiten Kato doesn't trust anyone, at least, doesn't trust us fully. He knows he's trapped with no-way out. So don't trust him as a person, but, trust his reasons and agenda for working with us."
Hiashis paused "Is that meant to make me feel any better? Because it doesn't."
"It should do. I am not unaware that Kato, schemes against us. Give him half a chance he would try to take us down. But, because we finance his research and what honest positive heroic research it is. The research into repairing permanent paralysis."
Hisashi nodded "That is rather notable. Why?"
"A hero took his legs. He is the first one to have the surgery done for him."
Hisashi nodded, a thin smirk on his face "He's got a quite a quirk."
"Not necessarily to start with. He was quirk recessive, he just needed some…stimulation."
(Kato)
He reappeared in the office and sat in his wheelchair just as Yaoyorozu walked in. "Kato-san, where were you?"
"I'm sorry…"
Yaoyorozu blanched slightly "I…tried contacting you. There's been some major developments."
"Major developments? Konan-san?" Kato suddenly found himself more on edge.
Meanwhile, Konan had taken the time to look her boss over. Yes, he was only slightly older than her own daughter, his recent trauma had left him deeply scarred; he'd admitted it. She'd watched as he'd become obsessed over his work, granted, she was as well. However, something seemed off with him physically.
She blanched "You didn't."
Kato cocked his head at her "I didn't what? Konan-san, there are lots of things that I have or haven't done, you're going to have to be a bit more specific?"
"You didn't go and use your untested experiment…your own life's work on yourself did you?"
"I did. I worked out all of the potential margins for error. Found the margin for error acceptable and did it. Besides, remember, I'm Quirkless; people will immediately say 'When can we do this on the quirked populace'. We would say if I hadn't done it yet 'We don't know. We still need to perform the due process.' Then I'll have to deal with every two-bit thieving bastard in the medical and scientific community plagarising my work, replicating it, pass it off as their own so they can deny me the credit. So, Konan-san, when we give lectures on this and talk about it with our peers and in some cases our superiors…We're coming into this from a position of strength."
With that Kato stood up, as he stood up, Konan was surprised. She hadn't anticipated him to be so tall. He came in at a respectable 6' give or take a few inches. There were hints of a physique but the loss of his legs had caused some of that physique to atrophy but it was quickly returning. "Anyway, Konan-san, you had some information for me?"
Konan nodded "I did. Although, it might be best if we maintained appearances."
Kato grinned as he wheeled himself down into the lab. It turned out, to be that the sample of medicine used which originated from 64432B was healing carefully severed spines in mice. "Your original sample is working perfectly. I believe we're on 64432B-1AC."
Kato chuckled "I can't believe this is actually working and our work is going to be in journals."
Konan blushed "Our work? I think you mean your work."
Kato shook his head "I'm only as good as my backer and my team. Which, coincidentally, includes you."
(Izuku)
Izuku lay on his bed that evening. Dinner with the Jiro's had been fun, the cracked kitchen surface aside. He wasn't sure what had caused it but he was pretty sure he had done that.
BB: Thanks for the assist tonight.
PR: No sweat Green, it was fun. Sorry about my oji, he tries to be cool when he really isn't.
BB: Fair. If that's what having a dad is like, you should, love that he cares about you. Despite his lack of ability to do it without embarrassing himself.
PR: True. So wuu2?
Izuku paused. He had no idea what Jiro meant. So he replied in the ultimate way possible.
BB: ?
PR:... U've never shorthand texted b4 have u?
BB: Not had any1 2 text. Thought Quirkless remember.
PR: My bad. Sos Green.
BB: No worries, I think?
PR: So, you, doing anything tomorrow? Aside from your monstrous workout?
Izuku paused, everything he had planned he could do later.
BB: No.
PR: See you tomorrow, bring your wallet.
Jiro lay on her bed and looked at her phone. 'What the actual fuck have I done.' She thought to herself. Ever since she'd found out about OFA and AFO, she'd been worried…extremely worried about Midoriya.
Midoriya Izuku, a cute guy…way more muscled and ripped than anyone thought. Also possessed more power in a quirk than anyone could or would rightly know.
"Midoriya, we're going to get through this."
(Inko)
Inko smiled as she heard her son jiggle on his bed. Ever since her little boy had met that Jiro girl, she'd transformed their lives in ways she'd not thought possible.
Her son was growing up. 'Hisashi, if only you could see him now.'
(Tower of London)
A door opened and a teen looked up as a powerful figure entered his cell. "Baraquiel."
"Director…let me guess, something happened and you've suddenly remembered that your own problem hero could be useful. What's the target? What's the price?" Baraquiel replied nonchalantly.
"The Man in Purple, possesses an incredibly powerful quirk. As for the price? Do you really think considering what you did, you deserve a reward…"
Baraquiel looked at the man in front of him "I'm sorry, I can't help you…and by can't I mean I will not and shall not help you. Not without something in return."
"You're a revolting piece of work. To murder fifteen people, and for what? Your name? Your title?"
Baraquiel sat back down "Then, you don't need me. Yes, the loss of Britain is a kick in the ass, I'm not doing this. Take a look at my case and tell me this is excessive."
Baraquiel sat down and stared at his questioner "I thought you'd be more cooperative."
"Nah. Not feeling that not without some give from you." He replied. He smirked as the door spammed shut, he hoped the guy in Purple was going to be alright.
He didn't have much sympathy for villains or many of his fellow heroes, but, this seemed interesting.
