Pairings to Be Decided

No Magic!

Thanks to the incredible writers Son of Caliban to whom I say "REPENT! FOR TOMORROW YOU DIE!" I joke of course, but I am more of a Sanguinis guy myself. I recommend you read his 'From the Joy, Comes the Pain, From the Pain, Comes the Joy.'

Another writer I wish to credit is darkfire1220 and urge people to read Viridescent. Just want to say thanks for his permission to use some of Quirk ideas.

I own nothing apart from part of this idea…I believe I've credited everyone; if not message me and I'll include in the Footnotes or this dribble dravel

According to Earphone Jack, there were six robbers in the store. She was unable to triangulate positioning effectively, but she was certain that all of them were going to be needed. "I couldn't count how many were there; whether that's because it's a multi-floored building or due to a Quirk."

"You did good kid, Suneater, get Erasure and Puppet Master onto the roof. The three of you will enter through the roof. Whatever you need to do, you do." The BMI Hero instructed.

Shinso gulped "How bad is this going to be?"

Suneater shrugged, this wasn't one inexperience but one of uncertainty "It's not going to be pretty, I know that much. I honestly can't say, but it will be within my capabilities; faith in me. Have faith in your training." With that, Suneater created a set of Octopus tentacles from his fingers and effortlessly lifted the three of them above the street.

"How did you…"

Suneater smiled thinly "I had an utter meltdown during my First Year Sports Festival; however a Hero who answered to the name Eldritch took me in. He trained me over this week and offered me Internship throughout my first year. Then, Eldritch brought Fat Gum in…Eldritch helped me master the basics of my quirk; but Fat Gum he made me a Hero. Eldritch is a unique teacher, one that I'd recommend for anyone with a 'messed up' quirk like Dupli-arms on the Hero Course."

"Mezo Shoji...he's a good guy. Anyway, we need access into this building right?" Hailey asked, before pulling out a bobby-pin. She made her way to the door, she snorted, it was one of the old electronic locks. Shinsou and Tamaki watched as their female colleague opened the lock and subsequently the door.

"Gents, I appreciate the ogling at my intelligence and skills; you can always buy me coffee afterwards."

Shinsou didn't say anything, neither did Amajiki. The elder-teen led the duo into the building. As they snuck inside, there were two thugs; clad in bullet proof vests, combat fatigues and heavy boots. Their arms were bare, evidently where their quirks manifested, currently they were looking away from the door.

"Hey...what the!" The thugs didn't have much time to react as Suneater pulled the pair of them out of the corridor, they tried to activate their quirks but Hailey deactivated them. Following Suneater's signals the trio moved into the top part of the store.

Meanwhile, Earphone-Jack was using her quirk "There's six in total. Two in the store itself, four or more throughout the building; I've managed to pick up the voices on radios. And a few names; it seems they're calling each other by their quirk names. We've got Strong-Arm; Delusion; Dopple; Dust; Scrambler and someone by the name of Corax."

"That's useful, brilliant in fact. However, codenames based on quirks isn't quite useful due to how versatile a quirk can be." Fat Gum explained; getting a dark look from Death Arms.

"I was intending to keep my student out of harm's way."

"I don't blame you, this is going to require all of us working together. However, heroic situations nearly always go sideways. You take the help you can get."

Death Arms nodded reluctantly "Worried you were going to poach my student."

Jiro paled "Poaching students? What are we, commodities?"

"Yes, the Heroic profession is kept small according to the HPSC to 'keep it competitive' is their turn of phrase. Others say its 'Finding additional supercops to police Japan and to smother all opposition'. It starts with Internships and then if you get your Hero Licence you're allowed to do a Hero Work-Study which is what Suneater does. So poaching of students is normal; although sometimes heroes are able to see eye-to-eye about it. For instance does the name Eldritch ring a bell?"

Jiro nodded "Tut brought him up; something about a horrendous bedside manner and called Zelretch?"

Death Arms sighed "Lovecraftian Hero: Eldritch, has a manifestation quirk. Not known for his ability to play nice with other heroes; however he got the name Zelretch due to his gadfly, prankster nature and more often than not drives heroes, like Endeavour, insane."

Jiro nodded "Fat Gum, you had an arrangement with him?"

"Sure did. Eldritch brought Suneater and I along on a job or two to see how we bonded. We clicked; Eldritch had taught him a fair bit, mainly building his confidence and honing his quirk. After Eldritch nearly lost his leg but lost a chunk of his upper-thigh, Amajiki joined my agency. But yes, Hero Students are seen as commodities."

Jiro sighed "I had no idea…if this is the case here, then what about on an international level?"

Fat Gum chuckled "Heroics on an international scale, it only just about works. Thankfully the majority of villains are apprehended before escaping the country; so I have no idea what might happen. What I do know is that especially in America and Britain; what we call Villains, they call it 'stupidity, stand-up and protest'."

"They allow villains to attack people!"

"Less allowing the attacks on people; more of a watchful eye. Heroes go along with the stunts, villains get arrested and the heroes get the fame. In the courtroom, again this is conjecture the unspoken rule is 'no-one was harmed' thus everyone gets targeted with unlawful protests; which leads to slaps on the wrist, community service and back to daily life. Although when they get proper villains, it's much worse."

Jirou sighed "Heroics is weird. Is it wrong to want to find out how heroics is done in other places?"

"It makes you smarter...I did a few months." Death Arms admitted, as Suneater chimed in on the headsets 'We've taken out two. How many are there?'

'Earphone Jack counted six. Two in the store, two more on the way into the store.'

'Out.' Suneater turned to Puppet Master and Erasure "Let's move." With that the trio moved into the building. Hailey took to the bannister, with Suneater in the middle; they moved down the metal fire-escape.

As they turned the corner, Hailey's luck ran out. The three hero-hopefuls were trapped; they had been moving with Suneater in the middle with Shinso to the left and Hailey on the bannister, but that in this circumstance would play into the next situation.

Like before there were two guards, however, Hailey sneezed. The two thugs snapped to attention; one chucked his hand out and from the tips of his fingers surged a cloud of obnoxious choking smoke. Hailey, was trapped she couldn't see but she could hear Suneater and Shinso beginning to choke. "Little hero, little hero, come out and play!" What unnerved her was the fact she couldn't see where the voice was coming from.

She backed up, there was a hand on her throat. "This is going to hurt a lot unfortunately." Came the mocking tone and her throat began to burn. Hailey slammed her foot down, the man who had her throat screamed. His quirk activated; Hailey used her own quirk and the world in front of her turned black and white, the carbon bonds became apparent, Hailey found the arm around her throat and grabbed it. The grunt of agony quickly became a scream of terror as the smoke dissipated and the villains arm began to turn to dust. Hailey stopped her quirk usage, and chucked her opponent at his colleague who was pulling out a pistol.

Outside, everyone heard the shots go off. Death Arms and Fat Gum rushed into the store. The Villains in the store; panicked, one went for his gun only to find Death Arms burying a meaty fist into his solar plexus; jackknifing him to the floor; whereas the other was hit by 'Fat Impact'. Let it not be said that Toyomitsu Taishiro was nothing less than a nerd with a fondness for tabletop wargames and rpgs because of Ogre Kingdoms for the win.

"Fatgum, go check the back." Death Arms instructed.

Fatgum didn't necessarily open the door out to the back; but rather removed the door and part of the wall around it. He went pale, the immediate exit was a mess. One villain was on his knees, with his hands behind his head; eyes vacant, Puppet Master seemed to be using his quirk to keep him restrained.

The other villain was missing his hand, his hand was gone. He was catatonic with shock and pain; he was about to ask Suneater, when he saw his Work-Study and Future Sidekick applying his quirk and first aid in an attempt to stabilise "Erasure, what happened?"

"One of them had a smoke quirk, he managed to temporarily catch us off guard. Another managed to grab Erasure, heard him say 'little hero come to play, come to play' then 'this is going to hurt', I smelt flesh burning which then became a grunt, screams of pain and then gunshots." Suneater explained; his face one of pure concentration.

"Bullets…a Nine Millimeter, we're okay aside from Erasure. Her vest just about deflected it but there was something in or on the rounds; they caught her in the gut. It's lodged."

Fatgum gulped, but thankfully being a Hero and having a Hero-licenced student; allowed said students access to a variety of 'hero only' applications. One of which was tied to the emergency services; there were heroes who worked as emergency services and vice versa. One of those happened to be the Bandage Hero: Tut. Tut didn't have an agency per se; but rather the hospital where he worked doubled as it, should he be needed, he was allowed to requisition any free and available Emergency Medical Technicians. Needless to say when he arrived on scene his stomach knotted; he'd fully anticipated having to patch up the Erasure Family but not for at least three to four years.

"Erasure, stay with me. The bullet is in your gut, it's not splintered thankfully and your uniform took the majority of it; but there was a secret part to the bullet...This 'quirked bullet' penetrated your gut." Tut explained, Hailey grunted weakley.

"Sir, I've a minor ferromagnetic quirk, from what I'm reading it's not too deep in; we could theoretically operate here and now."

"I...do not allow 'theoreticals' Medic. If you've done it before then I'd consider it on an adult, I do not allow such foolhardy measures on teens. Erasure, I need to contact your…"

"Do it." With that the younger Erasure Hero blacked out.

"Sir, the perp with the missing arm…he's dead. Blood loss and gunshot wounds; hard to tell which happened first…If the girl did this, this is going to have major repercussions on her."

"Self-defence, the perpetrator had his hands on her throat; she acted in self-defence. The villains colleague pulled his firearm and shot madly; the villain gunned down his colleague. The removal of the arm is self-defence." Fatgum stated. "I used to be a detective, before I became a hero. What I've learnt is how it goes."

The Medical Team nodded "Stretch (1), you ready?" One of the Emergency Technicians grunted, his arms dislocated, flattened and thinned out before his team moved her onto the stretcher.

"Suneater, you go with them. I'll drop Earphone Jack and her parents off." Fatgum instructed.

As the medical team and Hero piled into the ambulance, Tut slammed on the glass "Drift, GO!"

In the front the Driving Hero: Drift grinned "I love this part of the job." With that the lights were on, wheels spun and the ambulance took off.

"Drift's quirk works when he's behind the wheel of anything. Something to do with quantum physics and spatial manipulation for wheels. He's my one sidekick, trained medic but he mainly remains in the ambulance." Tut explained about the non-existent interference as the ambulance seamlessly blended into, around and through the traffic.

"So he turns any vehicle into the Knight Bus."

"In essence...Police call him when they need to transport some very big and dangerous villains."

"Transporter Hero: Drift (2), at your service...Here we are, dropping Drift speed into J-Turn in 3, 2, 1." Where Suneater was unaware of the transition beforehand, he was acutely aware of the backlash from Drift deactivating his quirk; he found himself pinned to the side of the ambulance by gravity as the ambulance neatly J-turned with its rear-access point directed into the A&E entrance.

"We have a 185 grain Injection to the abdomen; casualty is a fifteen year old Hero-in-training." Tut barked as his team maneuvered Stretch and Hailey to another bed, rolling the girl of the EMT who maneuvered his arms into their sockets sickening pops. Stretch nodded to Suneater before rushing after his team.

Suneater, waited a minute before following at a more sedate pace. It wouldn't do to throw up in the hospital after all, would it.

Notes
1) Stretch. Unnamed Emergency Medical Technician whose arms fold into a stretcher.

2) Transporter Hero: Drift, EMT who happens to have the Knight Bus as a Quirk. Name may have been taken from the Jason Statham films of the same name.
