The Drive to Dikaya Zhizn Reserve was one of silence. In the back of the Land Cruiser, Lucky was reading one of her magazines. Ryder had fallen asleep next to her. While Honeymaren was taking photo's of some of the animals they passed by. After snapping a photo from her phone, she leaned back in her seat as she looked over the picture she took. Lucky glanced up from her Magazine, peering down at Honeymaren's phone.
"That's a nice shot, Maren." Lucky said.
"Is that one going up on your blog as well?"
Maren glanced to her sister-in-law, smiling as she gestured a nod of her head.
"I think so, yes." she said.
"But I'm more looking forward to some of the pictures I'll get when we get to the reserve."
She had certainly developed an eye for it since Kate showed her when she was the same age as Lucky. She often enjoyed taking picture's of the Lands she had grew up hearing of and the animals that roamed them. Growing up in an orphanage in Norway, she had read so many books about different places around the world. Places she herself never thought she would ever see.
That was until she and her brother were adopted by Kate. Much like Lucky and her father, they had traveled the world together. Mostly to animal reserves in Africa and Asia. During that time, Kate had taught her to take pictures of wildlife and landscapes.
"Do you think we'll get to see the lions there?" she asked, curiously.
Honeymaren glanced to Lucky.
"I'm hoping so." She insisted to her.
Lucky then gasped, remembering something she had read in the magazine.
"Oh, did you know that there's a rumor of a rare white lioness amongst the pride?" Lucky proclaimed to them.
Jim glanced up to the rear view mirror, positioning it to look at Honeymaren and Lucky. Seeing the two talking, both he and Kate smiled as they glanced to each other. While the mention of a white lioness had certainly gotten the attention of the two, it was more that their daughters had been getting along
"Here look!" Lucky said, handing her the Magazine.
She glanced down at the magazine Lucky was reading, looking at the lines she was gesturing to. Reading that part of the article, the mention of a rare white lioness had her photography senses going off. The mere thought of an picture of an actual white lioness on her blog would certainly do wonders for her blog.
"Could you imagine getting to see an actual white lioness?" Lucky asked, excitedly.
Honeymaren nodded her head in agreement.
"Yeah." she said.
"Well, we're certainly going to be seeing a lot of animals when we get to Dikaya Zhizi." Jim insisted to them.
"Our tour guide insisted there are all sorts of species in the region. They said they'll show us all around the valley when we get there."
"Do you think they'll show us the lions?" Lucky asked, curiously.
Jim nodded his head.
"I hope so, it will go a mile in mine and Kate's research with the lions." Jim said, nodding his head.
Kate nodded her head in agreement.
"Especially if there's really a rare white lioness." She insisted to her.
Lucky frowned as she saw Kate joining the conversation, turning back to read her magazine. Honeymaren glanced to her, seeing Lucky with that same disappointed look she usually had around her adopted mother. Much like Jim and Kate, she was no oblivious to how Lucky acted around their mother. Though she never did confront Lucky about it. Though not by her own volition, it was more or less by her mother's insistence.
She then turned back, looking over the photo she took. Though as Lucky continued to read her Magazine, she then squinted her eyes, curiously.
"Hey, Honey, look at this." Lucky said, nudging her with her shoulder.
Honeymaren glanced to Lucky.
"What is it?" she asked, curiously.
"It saids here that there's a local Legend in the Region." Lucky insisted, leaning the Magazine to her.
"Local legend?" Honeymaren asked, curiously.
"Yeah, listen to this," Lucky said, pointing down at the bottom paragraph.
"It saids here that Villagers of the region claim to have seen a mysterious figure deep the jungle. Eye witnesses claim to seen the Royo ya msituni. Which translate to 'The Jungle Spirit.' An ancient spirit they say plunges those that would enter it's domain."
The very description given by the article gave the two a feeling of unease. Especially about the part of it plunging those that dared to enter it's domain. Though it may just be a story the villagers tell each other to try and scare children. However, the photo which stood next to the paragraph, of what appeared to be a figure swinging through the trees, was certainly an eye opener for the two.
The Dikaya Zhizn Safari Resort had never been more busy then it's been in recent time. Sitting in his office, North was looking over some of the bookings they had gotten as of late. More and more guests had been booking to stay at their resort since word had spread of the events of last year. Most notably, the recent local legend that had transpired as of late. People from all around the world had been eager to make reservations to say at their resort.
The phone on his desk started ring. He picked up the phone and put to his right ear.
"Hello?" He said, leaning back in his office chair.
"Ah, yes, hello, Mr. Kellen. Yes of course, we love to have you here."
North flipped through several pages before coming to a clear one page.
"Yes, that would be perfect," North proclaimed to him.
"Yes, next month works well with use. Yes, of course. Have a nice day."
After hanging up the phone, North chuckled with glee, laying back in his chair. It was right at that moment that Mattias came walking into his office.
"Ah, good morning, Mattias." North said, standing up out of his chair.
"Good Morning, North," Mattias greeted with a nod of his head.
"You seem to be in a good mood."
North uttered a laugh.
"Yes, Yes, very good mood." North proclaimed as he walked around his desk.
"Business has really picked up. We've been given five more reservations this morning for next month."
"Five more reservations?" Mattias said, rubbing the back of his head.
"We'll already booked up as it is."
North shook his head, padding Mattias over the back.
"Nonsense." North insisted.
"We have more then enough room. Especially when we start expanding the resort."
Mattia breathed a sigh. He glanced back through the door's window at the lobby, which was filled with guests. It seemed not so long ago that the lobby was mostly empty. Now ever since word had spread about what happened last year and the so called "Jungle Spirit", people have been so eager to stay at their resort.
He then smirked, placing his hand over his hip.
"Never thought I'd see the day when our lobby would be full of guests." Mattias insisted.
"Seems like our luck has really turned around since last year. "
North nodded his head in agreement.
"Indeed, suppose there was something good was to come of last year." North proclaimed to him.
"It has certainly earned us much business as of late. Not only do we have enough money for conservation, we'll be able to expand the resort by next year. I would have thought that discovering that lost city would have earned ups more attention for our resort."
"You know Ingrid isn't so happy about this." Mattias said, glancing to him.
"She thinks sooner or later, somebody is gonna find out about her. Especially with that interview we did with that reporter. We've already had a few attempts of people entering the red zone."
North sighed, sitting back down in his seat. He was fully aware that Ingrid was not happy about this. There were already attempts by people to try and enter into the red zone. Though most of team had been caught by the rangers teams patrolling the area. While a few turned out to be poachers, there were reports of some guests of their resorts. He had had kept the location of Elsa and the lions a secret from the guests, often insisting that the spirit was within their part of the region. Though despite his best efforts to keep his promise to Elsa and his nephew, people had often become curious about the red zone.
"What is problem?" North insisted. turning back to his desk.
"We needed to set the story straight. Elsa and lions are safer then they ever been thanks to us."
There came a knock over the door before it open to reveal it was Tooth.
"North, Mr. Prescott and his family are here." She said to her Husband.
North nodded his head as he stood up from his desk, straightening his vest.
"Yes, I'm coming." North proclaimed.
North, Tooth and Mattias came out into the lobby of the main lodge, where they found Jim Prescott and his wife waiting at the front desk.
"Ah, Jimmy Prescott, it's been long time." North greeted as he came up to him.
North embrace within his large arms, holding him tight in a hug which felt as if he was in the coils of a python. Jim winced, feeling the strain of North's embrace. Though tried to bear through it.
"It's good to see you again." North proclaimed as he placed Jim down on the ground.
"Welcome back to the Dikaya Zhizn Reserve!"
Jim gasped, trying to catch his breath. Earning a chuckle from North, followed by a large pat over the back.
"It's nice to see you too, North." Jim said, before glancing into the lobby.
"There's certainly more people here then before."
North smirked.
"Business has picked up a lot lately." North insisted to him.
Jim turned back to Kate.
"North, Tooth, this is my wife, Kate." Jim said.
Kate smiled and nodded her head to him.
"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Anderson." Kate said.
The two then turned back to Lucky, Honeymaren and Ryder, who came up behind them.
"And these are our kids, Lucky, Honeymaren and Ryder." Jim said.
"Hello." Lucky said, raising her hand to him.
"Kids, this is North, he's an old friend of Mine." Jim proclaimed.
North laughed, placing his arm around his shoulder.
"Your father was one of our best customers back in the day." North insisted to them.
"Nice to meet you." Honeymaren said with a nod of her head.
"You all must be exhausted after the long trip," Tooth said.
"Come in, lets get you all settled in to you cabin."
"Yes, come, come." North proclaimed as he showed them the way.
"Lets get you all settled in."
Though just as North was to follow them, the sound of a jeep engines then caught his attention. He then paused along with Mattias, glanced over at the entranced to the main lodge, where they saw a jeep pulling up to the front of the main lodge. He then saw two men stepping out of the jeep as they approached the entrance of the main lodge. Tooth and Jim turned back to him.
"North?" she asked, curiously.
North glanced back to them.
"Go one ahead, we'll catch up later." North insisted.
Tooth shifted her glance to the entrance before turning back to North, nodding her head as she and Jim's family continued on. North then turned as he and Mattias approached the two men.
"Sefu, Jirani, what are you doing up here?" Mattias asked, curiously.
The two men shared a glance to each other before turning back to North and Mattias.
"It happened again." Sefu insisted to them.
The keen eyes of Mufasa's most trusted advisor surveyed the hunting grounds of the Pride. Peering down over the plains below, Zazu squinted his eyes, curiously. He cocked his head from side to side, glancing around at the tall grass below. Having patrolled these parts of the jungle for many years, there was nothing that happened in the jungle that hadn't gone unnoticed by the King's Majordomo.
"Hmm, nothing seems out of place here," He said, pausing mid air.
"It seems everything is as it should be."
Though it was as he said that, Zazu felt something sweep past him with such haste. Spinning around mid air, Zazu had then settled himself as he gazed ahead at the one who had so rudely passed him by. Where he saw a large vulture flying overhead.
"Well I say, where does he think he's off to?" Zazu said.
"Does he have any idea he had just struck the King's Majordomo? He will answer to the King for this!"
Zazu then flew after the Vulture. All the while, he called out to the vulture.
"I say, halt in the name of King Mufasa." Zazu proclaimed to him.
Only for the Vulture to glanced back at the Majordomo with a sly smirk. Continuing to fly ahead, despite the word of the King. Seeing such action by the vulture, Zazu continued to pursue him to the outskirts of the plains. Upon reaching the edge of the clearing, the vulture had then began to descend to the ground below. Upon seeing the vulture decent, Zazu glanced down at the vulture, curiously.
"What in the...?" Zazu said.
Zazu then sifted his eyes down to where the vulture was setting down. And then he froze, gasping in shock and horror.
"Oh, dear!" He said.
"I must tell Elsa!"
Zazu then turned back and flew ahead back the way he came.
Elsa had long finished her duty as the Jungle's guardian and had rejoined the Pride at their favorite spot in the outer plains. Laying along side Nala, her mother, Sarafina and Queen Sarabi, the two relaxed beneath the warmth of the sun. Elsa breathed a sigh of relief, her long icy blond hair spread out over the rock. Sarabi glanced to Elsa, smiling.
"You look tired, Elsa." Sarabi said.
"Has it been a long day for you? Was it the hyena's again?"
Elsa turned to the Queen. She leaned up over the rock, shaking her head.
"No, you majesty, of course not." Elsa insisted to her.
Sarabi smiled to her.
"There is no need for that, Elsa." Sarafina insisted to her.
"You are much like your mother, Elsa." The Queen proclaimed to her.
"Diata can never admit when she tired herself out."
Elsa chuckled slightly, smiling.
"Please, don't let you pride deter you." Sarabi insisted to her.
"You can tell us."
Once more Elsa shook her head to her.
"No, no, I'm alright, you majesty, really I am." Elsa continued to insist to her.
"Today was much much easier then the last. No sign of the hyenas or even..."
There was a moments pause on Elsa's part, having to stop herself from saying that word. Though it did bring a look of anger and dismay to her. Her sudden moment of silence cause the Sarabi and Sarafina to glance to each other, curiously. Nala however stared to her sister, having to guessed what she was about to say. She raised her head, squinting her eyes to Elsa. Even Simba, who was laying nearby, having overhead the conversation, glanced back at Elsa, worryingly.
The wild woman shook her head.
"It doesn't matter." Elsa insisted to them.
The sound of laugher could be heard from near the water. Elsa glanced over to the banks of the waterhole, where she saw Kovu and Kion playing together. Seeing the two brothers playing together, having grown so much since last year, safe from the dangers of before. It was all that Elsa had wanted for them and all the people of the jungle. Regardless of how hard it was or how exhausting it may be, it was worth it for that alone.
Sarabi cocked her head, looking back at the two brothers. She then smiled.
"They seem so happy, don't they?" The queen asked.
Elsa nodded her head in agreement.
"Yes, they do," Elsa insisted to her.
"And it's all the matters to me, your majesty."
Sarabi turned back to Elsa.
"I made a promise to protect our people and all the people of the jungle," Elsa insisted to the queen.
"It doesn't matter how I feel. What matters to me is that everyone in the Jungle is safe."
Those words earned a smile from Sarabi. The noble and selflessness of the wild woman was indeed something to admire. The Heart of Diata truly did reside in her.
"You have a kind heart, mtoto." Sarabi insisted to her.
Elsa smiled, nodding her head to the queen.
"Thank you, your majesty." Elsa said.
It was right at that moment, they heard Zazu calling from above.
"Elsa, Elsa!"
Elsa glanced up, where she saw Zazu flying toward them, sounding as if was urgent. Elsa stood up over the rock.
"Zazu, what's wrong?" Elsa asked, curiously.
"Come, quick!" Zazu exclaimed.
"I found something near the northern boarder of the plains!"
Nala stood up over the rock.
"What is it?" She asked, curiously.
"Just come look, this way!" Zazu said as he turned and flew ahead.
Elsa, Nala as well as Simba followed after the majordomo. Sarabi the other members of the pride looking on with worry and dismay.
Elsa raced through the tall grass as swiftly as a Cheetah on the hunt. So fast that she was was able to keep up with Zazu, who flew overhead. Simba and Nala to both sides of her. The years she had spent in the jungle among the animals had certainly granted her such speed. Plowing through the tall grass as she made her way to whatever lied ahead, ready to face whatever danger that awaited her.
Glancing up at Zazu, she saw the Majordomo landing atop the branch of the tree in the clearing beyond the grass. Elsa emerged into the clearing. And then she froze. A look of shock and awe at the sight she had come to witness. Simba and Nala emerged from behind her, where they then paused. Fore it was in the clearing, they saw the body of a Ankole-Watusi, laying dead within the clearing. Swarmed with buzzards and Vultures, who picked apart the Ankole.
"What is this?" Simba asked.
Elsa slowly approached the body, earning a hiss from the vultures. Only for Elsa to growl back at them, causing them to saunter back from her. Elsa glanced down at the body, where she noticed several claw marks over the body. Though the Ankole itself did not appear to be eaten. She squinted her eyes, suspiciously.
"You think it was the hyenas?" Simba asked, curiously.
Elsa shook her head.
"It hasn't even been eaten." Elsa proclaimed, glancing back at Simba and Nala.
"Not even the hyena's would give up such a meal."
"Who would leave the kill here without eating it?" Nala asked, curiously.
"I'm afraid, we have bigger problems," Zazu insisted, flying down from the tree.
"This long horn is from the man-villages to the North!"
"Man?" Simba exclaimed.
The mention of man earned the majordomo a stern glance from Elsa, who shifted her eyes back at him. The very notion of man returning to this part of the jungle angered Elsa. Though not as much as someone of the jungle daring to hunt man's cattle. The law of the Jungle had forbidden one from ever hunting Man's cattle, let alone man himself. For such an act would be met with man's wraith upon all the people of the jungle.
Elsa shifted her gazed back down over the body of the Ankole. She gazed down at the claw marks embedded in the flesh of the long horned cattle. She then squinted her eyes. The claw marks seemed to resemble that of a lions. Elsa cocked her head to the side, narrowing her eyes. This couldn't be right. None of the members of the pride would dare hunt man's cattle.
But then who was the one who did this?
She shifted her eyes over to the tree where Zazu had been perched. It was there she saw more claw marks embedded in the back. Elsa then stood up and walked over to the tree, where she got a closer look at the claw marks. She then leaned forward, sniffing the claws marks.
Elsa eyes suddenly widened with shock as she gasped, stepping back from the tree. She then paused, staring at the tree in shock and horror. Recognizing the scent she had picked up from the tree itself.
"Elsa?"
Elsa turned back to Simba, Nala and Zazu, who noticed her sudden reaction. paused for a moment, glancing back to the tree before shifting her eyes down at Aknkole. She shifted her glance up at Zazu.
"Zazu, tell Mufasa that a council must be held at once." Elsa proclaimed to him
Zazu nodded his head.
"Oh, yes, at once!" Zazu proclaimed as he flew ahead.
"What's wrong?" Nala asked.
Elsa then glance back at Simba and Nala.
"I know who did this." Elsa said.
From the cover of the foliage along the jungle's edge, a greyish fur lioness peered into the clearing at the three. Her gaze mainly fixed upon the wild woman, having to have found her quarry. She then grinned, slinking back into shadows with a low growl.
