Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Tim and Jason all stood atop of Wall Rose. After what happened, Pixis thought it best to take the cadets with him to the top, something a few didn't agree on
"I see and visiting this basement, you believe will clear everything up?" Pixis questioned after hearing what Eren had to say on the matter
"Yes... do you believe me?" Eren asked, fearing the answer slightly
Pixis' answer made the teens sigh in relief as he promised to guarantee Eren's safety for the time being. The commander turned to Tim, who had been quietly staring at the Titans still roaming Trost "Trainee Drake, correct?"
Tim turned his attention to the commander and nodded "You mentioned before about using this so-called Titan ability to our advantage. I heard bits and pieces about you saying that he could seal up the hole"
Armin's eyes widened as he realized what Tim had meant when he said that "You were talking about him using his Titan form to carry that giant boulder and block the entrance with it!" he exclaims as Tim nodded
"Unless someone has a way to seal a hole of that size with Titans still coming in, this is your best chance. That boulder seems to be the right size to close that hole, big enough to make sure nothing can get through. Eren's Titan form is the only way we'll be able to move it before more lives are lost as a result" Tim says with a sigh since he knows this is a big risk. Something this serious with untrained abilities... 95% chance something will go wrong
"You are missing one important point Baby Bird. In the end it all depends on whether or not Eren can do the task. He has no training in controlling these abilities of his. What's to say he won't go on a rampage and attack us?" Jason questioned. Don't get him wrong he can see the logic in Tim's plan and wanted to believe in the brunette... but he also saw the risks involved and wondered if Tim was taking that into account
"I know the risks of the plan Jason. Unless you have a better idea?"
Eren looked down at his hands when he heard Jason's words. Could he do it? He has no idea how this Titan ability of his even works or where it came from... what if he does lose control and turns on everyone? No, he can't let that happen! No matter what he needs to plug that hole!
"I believe the question asked isn't if he can do it. Will he do it or not?" Pixis questioned as Eren made up his mind, determination in his eyes
"I'll do it!" Eren exclaims, eyes on him with various expressions ranging from indifferent to surprise at this answer
"Well said. You're a real man!" Pixis tells him, patting his shoulders and soon walking over to the edge as he calls out "Calling all staff officers! We have a plan to put together!"
"You really think he can do it?" Jason says as he and Tim walk a distance away from the others, not wanting to be overheard
"He has to. Otherwise they'll kill him or worse experiment on him. We both saw him take down the Titans only, never once going after a human. I know it's a big risk... but what other choice is there? This world has no technology I've seen that could plug that hole fast enough, heck the crane doesn't seem to exist here. The boulder is big that it will seal up the hole... but then the problem of how to get it over there comes up. In the end, Eren is the only one who can do it"
"Look I understand your point, but damn it Tim you know Eren is as lost as we are with that ability of his. He has no control or clue how to even activate it!"
"What do you want me to do? Get Superman to come here and carry the boulder. Newsflash Jason, he doesn't exist!" Tim angrily said gaining the attention of Mikasa as she wondered what could be going on with them
"If anything happens, if people die in the process of this plan, it'll be on your conscious" Jason seriously tells him as Tim snaps
"Coming from the guy who recklessly thought he could take on the Joker by himself only to get beat up by a crowbar and die as a result!"
By now the Shiganshina trio were looking at the two adopted brothers, the last comment by Tim confusing them as Jason pushed past the trio, not seeing this conversation going anywhere while the other teen is seen standing on the edge of the wall with an emotionless expression though he felt he went to far with that last comment. Even if Jason joked about his death at times, Tim still feels he does it as a way to prove to everyone it doesn't bother him when in reality it might
"Time is of the essence! We're counting on you young soldiers" Pixis says gaining their attention, ignoring the tense atmosphere
Moments later
While Pixis with Eren at his side, was talking to the crowd of soldiers down below, Armin, Mikasa, Tim and Jason were behind the two along with both Anka and Gustav
Armin and Tim were both taking point and talking about what they believed was the best course of action for what was about to happen. Jason made a few comments here and there about his own opinions on how to improve certain areas, purposely ignoring Tim's gaze each time
"However, all of this is based on the assumption that Eren can pick up the rock and seal the hole. I must admit I have my doubts about carrying out this plan with so little assurance to go on"
"I understand your concern. I have doubts in this even working... but I also know Eren enough that when he puts his mind to something, he'll do it. The kid practiced day and night when he couldn't pass his ODM gear test the first time. He might not be the smartest and have anger issues, but one things for sure and that's his spirit in destroying the Titans and helping humanity be free of the Titan threat" Jason says, finally returning his adopted brother's glance. He sends him a clear message that Tim seems to understand as he nods in agreement
Pixis is heard explaining the plan and about Eren's ability, before saying some other things and soon the soldiers are dismissed. Jason looks up to the sky, a harden expression on his face. If things get bad, both Tim and him would need to step up and reveal themselves
Meanwhile
While Pixis was off explain things and choosing who would be in charge on the mission, Eren was watching from a distance. He soon heard Armin call out his name "Eren... I knew where Tim's plan was going, but I didn't think they'd actually force all the responsibly onto you. I'm sorry"
Eren shook his head. He trusted Armin and while he might have just met Tim when joining the Scouts, he wants to believe that Tim is doing what's best for everyone. Thought he might rather have not gotten all the burden, he's accepted his role and will prove to everyone he won't mess up. Jason and a few others seem to not be 100% with the plan and Eren planned on proving them wrong
"Eren, I really think I should-" Mikasa started saying before Jason interrupted her
"Look I understand wanting to protect someone" Jason starts looking over Tim. To think he'd gone from wanting to kill the kid for replacing him to instead seeing him as an annoying know-it-all little brother "However, Mikasa, he needs to learn to fight his own battles without you there at his side. Eren will ask for help when he needs it, but the only thing you're doing is making him want to push you away. You can't be attached the whole time and you can't be worrying for him every time he's not at your side. Learn to trust in him and his abilities"
Mikasa looks down, not happy with letting Eren out of her sight, her promise to his mother coming to mind. But she knows he'd have turned down her help and doesn't say anything, she doesn't even notice the glance from Eren
"Ackerman, join the elite squad that'll protect Yeager. Todd, Drake, you're in that squad as well. We need the skills you three possess. Let's go, it's time to begin" Ian called out as Mikasa's eyes lid up at being part of Eren's squad. Jason was also glad cause now he'll be able to keep on eye on Eren and make sure he doesn't go on a full rampage mode. Tim on the other hand was preparing for the worst that will happen
Without wasting anymore time, the group split up into their given squads, Eren and Armin sharing some final words before leaving. Eren, Mikasa, Jason, Tim and the rest of the Garrison elites all ran on the wall
"He called you a top-secret human weapon, but as long as you can seal that hole, I don't care! We'll protect you at all costs! We're counting on you!" Ian tells Eren as Jason sent him a glare at the comment on being a human weapon. Eren was just as much a human as the rest of them!
"Eren, are you alright?" Mikasa asked with a worried expression as she ran beside him. Jason and Tim shared a sigh, already knowing where this was heading as the teen sighed. Rico just observed the group, well mostly Eren and Mikasa from behind
"Eren?"
"Seriously, I'm fine. A lot better than when we were surrounded" Eren insisted, knowing she wasn't going to stop until he gave her an answer that would make her ease up on her mother hen mode
Rico ran past the two former Robins and got in between the two arguing teens "Stop playing house, Yeager" she tells him as Tim sighs while Jason had a smirk on his face at the comment
"I didn't mean to..." he says trailing off at the end as this didn't help and instead sent Jason into a laughing fit "Now I understand why you always put emphasis telling her not to see you as her brother" Eren hears the older Robin say as he turns to look at him ready to say something
"Don't, trust me Eren. Best not to say anything" Tim tells him as Eren decides to listen
"I can't believe we're putting the fate of humanity on a spoiled brat like you" said Mitabi
Mikasa, Jason and Tim all glared at him at his comment regarding Eren
"That's enough. All of you! We're almost to the route to the rock!" Ian says before continuing "I don't see any Titans in the area, their decoy tactic must be working"
"Just so you're aware Yeager. More than just a few soldiers will likely die during this operation. All for you" Rico tells him as Eren turns his full attention to her, listening carefully "Our colleagues, our seniors and our juniors. They're prepared to die of course. They're soldiers, but they aren't faceless pawns. They have names, families and hopes and dreams of their own. Alysha, Dominic, Fine, Isabel, Ludwig, Martina, Guido, Hans, they're all real people. Flesh and blood. Some have been living under the same roof since their trainee days. Many of these people could end up dying for you today"
Tim and Jason stood to the side as they had also heard what Rico had said. This time, no holding back, they need to do whatever it takes to help. The onslaught has begun. Time to reclaim land from these man eating Titans!... Ok, Trost, but still!
The displaced teens won't let the Titans get away with this. Titans aren't merciless, they don't care who they hurt. But the Survey Corps, they are hunters that will strike at anything that comes their way
"Keep that in mind, you have a responsibility to not let their sacrifice be in vain. No matter what happens. Carve that reality into your naïve heart and fulfill your duty with your life" Rico continued
"I will" Eren promised 'I'm going to do this! I'm going to succeed no matter what!'
Short time later
"This is the spot!"
"Let's go!"
"This will be the first time humankind has achieved victory over the Titans!"
Everyone jumped off, Rico staying behind as she fired a flare gun. Eren, Mikasa, Tim and Jason, using ODM gear made their way towards the boulder as soon Eren was in the lead and bit his hand as lightning exploded
Everyone on the wall watched in shock as Tim and Jason stared with emotionless expressions, though they hid it, the transformation slight shocked time
The Rouge Titan crashed onto the ground before throwing his head back and roaring
Tim and Jason suddenly felt as if something was wrong. Jason turned to his adopted brother who in turn nodded. The two reached for their swords, though didn't draw them out yet. They wanted to give Eren the benefit of doubt, but knew it was useless as the Rouge Titan turned without warning, throwing a fist towards the roof they stood on, destroying it and sending dust everywhere
Tim and Jason arguing, not surprising. They both know the risks of Eren using his abilities after just finding out about them, but at the same time know this is the only way they can save Trost. Jason doesn't want to risk it due to not having enough information on the ability, but Tim is willing to do it if it will save millions. This isn't like their world, they have to think differently then they are use to, more risks and deaths will be involved. Maybe I made them both OCC here, sorry bout that. Anyway next time... you know what comes next
