Chapter 5: Heather now a dragon
Back on Berk, the Chief is waiting for his son to come home. It's been two weeks since Hiccup has been on Dragon's Edge. He usually gets a letter or a visit by now. "Something must have happened to Hiccup. He must be in danger. Even the dragons seem to be worried about something." Stocick ends up saying, voicing his thoughts to Spitelout. "You're overreacting. He's fine. Hiccup just wants you to worry some, before coming back." His brother replies. Stocick has been talking with Spitelout to address his concerns, and to have someone to talk to that he clearly needed. Though it's not helping Stocick come down in the slightest. Why did he even think talking with Spitelout was a good idea in the first place?
Just then there was a dragon with a letter flying to him. It looked like one of the small dragons that Hiccup used to send letters with. Stock grabs the letter and thanks the dragon. "See you were worried about nothing. His letter was delayed a bit." Spitelout replies, thinking he was right. Stocick puts and hand out to stop him from talking. "Not now Spitelout!"
Stock read the letter and it confirms his fears, but now he has questions. Dragons are becoming humans, and there dragon riders. How? And because of this they need all the ships they have, to get them and bring them back. How many of these dragons turned-humans is he to bring back? So many questions were raising in his head. "Are you just going to stand there, or do I need to check that you're awake, Stock?"
Stock gets on his feet and gets to work. "Get the villagers! I have an announcement to make and we're going to need all the help we can get!" Spitelout watched him leave. Thinking, what the heck was Stock reading? Spitelout does get up and does as he's told. "This is going to be one of those days isn't it?"
….
Hiccup and Toothless catches up with Astrid. Hiccup looks down at her. "Astrid, do you want to come back to the campsite with me?" She looks up at Hiccup. "You mean it?" "Yes, you can walk on four legs now. I don't want you to be by yourself if you can be with us." "Yes I'll come." She says happily, Following him to the campsite.
Astrid looks around the campsite. She sees, a human-dragon. She sees the dragon trying to write, and humans trying to learn how to write and speak. She looks at Hiccup. "Is this what you meant, with I'm not the only one going through this?" "Yes. The human-dragons, are dragons turned into humans. And the dragons-humans, are humans turned into dragons. They're all trying to adjust to their new life." Hiccup answer back. Astrid, now understands what he meant. This seems to be a bigger crisis than she first thought. "Is there away to change them back?" "I saw that it was a necklace that did this. As for if it can change them back, I'm not fully shore. I guess it could, but I would need to see the necklace, to know for shore. And we know who has it right now." Astrid nods and looks down.
"It will probably be some time before my father and the boats come to bring us back." Hiccup looks out at the sea. "You told you're father about this? Wouldn't he be against it?" Hiccup sighs at her response. "We don't have much of a choice. It's the only way off this island, unless the human-dragons can learn fast how to fly." Astrid looks down.
….
Heather was working on teaching Stormfly how to speak Norse. Stormfly wasn't paying attention. "Stormfly you got to learn. You can't keep avoiding it." The human-dragon responds with a growl. "It would be good for you to also know the language. If not for you, can you at least do it for me?" Heather asks desperately. Stormfly signs, and accepts defeat. "Thank you."
As time passed by, they got somewhere in their lesson. Dager walks in to check on them. "How is the lesson going?" Stormfly glares back at him. She still didn't trust him. "Better. She is now putting up with it and learned a few words" Heather responded back. "That's good. But how are you doing? I'm worried about you." Dagger responded back, big a bit more protective of her, from what the boss said they would do to her, if he didn't get what he wanted. "You're worried about me? That's a first. Next you'll tell me you like dragons." Heather responded with not caring about what he said. "I think what he's going, is going a bit overboard. It feels like we're in another war. And I get the feeling he's not going to keep his word." Heather looks away, not caring. "Like hell you would care! You never stop to ones think about you're self, or what I had to say!" "Heather! I always care about what you say. I even thought about what you said about the dragons. You're my sister, and you mean the world to me." Dager is trying to get her to understand. It's like Heather won't listen to anything he says now. Heather leaves the room, not wanting to deal with him right now.
As she leaves, she bumps into the boss. "sorry, I didn't see…" She then cuts herself off when she sees who it is. "Is there something wrong? Is you're teaching going well?" He ask her. She shakes her head. "no, teaching is going well. I just need some space." "Is that so? I was told by a little bird, that you went off and helped Hiccup and his friends before." He tells her like he's going to do something bad to her. Heather is thinking she screwed. He knows, she has to dissolve the situation and come up with a good lie. "Oh that, no I was just watching them from afar to get info from them."
He glares at her not believing a words she says. "Someone has been having a little too much free time on their hands. Name one good reason I shouldn't make you a dragon now?" Heather is sweating now. If she didn't have reason to worry before she did now. Come up with something good. "ahh ah, I'm teaching Stormfly to speak norse. I won't be able to do that as a dragon." "That's a fair point." Heather think she safe as he gives that response. "However, I think you'll be a better teacher as a dragon. I could delay your changes and it would be gradual. However, I would like to see you in the ring tomorrow." What now? She can't get out of this, and the two options aren't that good.
One of the guards looks at them. "Make her a dragon now, and Stormfly would have to obey you more." One of the guards letting their thoughts out. The boss likes this idea. He puts his hand on her head. He changes Heather into Razorwhip dragon. After the transformation was done, Heather roared into the sky.
Darger runs in after hearing the roar. To see another dragon near the boss. The boss looks at Dager. "Ah Dager, meet my new dragon. As well as my new guard. This is what she gets for double crossing me. Remember that." As the boss walks away.
Dager runs up to the dragon on the ground. "no.." Was all he could say. He was shore the boss meant this was his sister. His sister was now a dragon, and there was nothing he could do about it. For the first time in his life he ended up crying.
Heather came to. But she wasn't quit herself. She looks down to see Dager crying. Dager looks up at her, to see if she was still there. Heather gets up and goes to the boss, not saying anything to him, or acknowledging he was there.
Dager gets up, and runs to the pin that Windshear would be in. He saw that it was a human girl in there, and she looked to be asleep. He opens the pin and goes in there to wake her up shaking her shoulders. Windshear comes to and growls at him. "Windshear, please let that be you. If it is, you're a human now." Windshear looks herself over. Confused as why she is a human but had a somewhat of guess. She looks over at Dager still not fully trusting him. He looks away. "Right you don't know Norse." He gets up and gives her his hand. Windshear was confused by this. "I'll help you walk. And maybe help learn Norse. Heather, my sister, she a dragon now. I don't even know if she in there, one thing is for shore, she not herself."
Windshear growls. Not herself? how can she not be herself?! She was mad. But also confused as why Dager is being so nice to her. He seemed upset, so it sound like that he wasn't happy with what happened with her rider ether. This was a lot on her, that she end up holding her head. "Lot to take in, hug? It is for me too. I know more than you, but I need to know that you want her back, and you don't want to help the boss."
Windshear nods and ends up taking his hand. Dager pulled her up to stand. That ended up being a bit much on her that she felt sick. She ends up barfing on the floor. "It's alright." He says to her and picks her up bridal style.
And he runs back to Stormfly and puts Windshear down gently. "Stormfly, I brought Windshear. Heather has been turned into a dragon. And doesn't seem to talk with me, or know me. I think the boss is controlling her." "What!?" Was all Stormfly could muster out, with only knowing very little norse. "Shhh. Not too loud. look I need you and Stormfly to learn Norse from your group of dragon riders." Dager telling Stormfly. "How?" "I'll sneak you in there at night. Things are getting bad here. Very bad."
This one took a bit to get threw. I end up having a transition stuck. Had a tough time finger out how to transition this part. Now that's fingered out, the other chapters should be easier.
