From what I learned, L suspects the chief's son as Kira, Light. He had installed cameras in the chief's house, thus concluding that Light has a "high reasoning ability". With that in mind, L decided to include him in the team, even if he had mentioned the chance of him being Kira was five per cent. All this happened before I come.
When Light checked the tapes, he said they were probably not sent by the original Kira, but by someone else pretending to be him. In short, a second Kira. The same conclusion was drawn by L.
"So, it's been decided," L said.
"First we have to stop the second Kira. They clearly share Kira's plans and aren't all that clever. Probably subservient to the real Kira. So we have a good chance of stopping them if we fake a message pretending to be the actual murderer. Also Light, I would like you to play the role of the real Kira." he said and turned towards the young man.
"From me? Why?" Light asked.
"Only someone as talented as you could be so convincing in his role. Besides, we don't have much time. Can you prepare a text for us to run on the evening news? A text convincing enough to be thought of as Kira's message."
"As you wish, Ryuzaki. I'll do whatever it takes to get Kira caught in time!"
Although polite, for some reason I didn't feel comfortable in Light's presence as if his aura scared me. I saw a sweet, but fake one at the same time. I couldn't believe that facial expression of his. Maybe that's why L suspected him. Because he had strong instincts as it's natural for a detective. But what about me? What reason had I to fear him? Maybe L's suspicions influenced me, but then again. I just wished that smile wasn't dangerous at all.
Within three hours, Light perfected his news story. We read the message:
«The person who made the video broadcast on Sakura TV yesterday was not Kira. I am the real Kira. I believe this person who claimed to be me is my supporter and speaks for myself. I am very grateful to them. However, the death of innocent people stands against my will. If this person agrees and wants to support me, they shall avoid any reckless actions, and moreover, they should act according to my goals. If they ignore my warning and continue to act in this way, I'll be forced to punish them.»
——A week later——
L informed us that in order to better investigate the case, we would be leaving the hotel and going to a secret base. There, we'd find specialized computers very likely to help us with the case. That same day at ten in the morning, we drove to a large building with an underground garage. The patrol car was parked, and then we went up to the 12th floor of the building. L also informed the building was banned from people entering, and it's only for advanced professionals such as businessmen, agents or police officers. There are files that must remain secret to the world and that is why entry is prohibited.
The night after we finished our research, we sent another message to Sakura TV.
«Second Kira. If Kira knows who you are, it's not too late. We strongly recommend you stay away from him. If you ever come into contact with Kira, it is very likely he'll kill or use you. What you should care about is the value of human life. If you give us information about him, your crimes will be forgiven. You can save the world from Kira's terror.»
The next day, after Light returned to the secret base after school, we got an answer from the second Kira. They even emphasized this will be the last.
«I have decided not to reveal myself to Kira. To the police, thank you for the warning. However, I will assist Kira in cleansing the world of evil and gain his trust by helping him. I will begin by judging all the criminals Kira has yet to judge. Then I'll continue by sharing these powers with people I deem capable, and continue to create hope for a better future!»
At this point, I'd like to say that while writing this for the first time, I didn't know if I should omit elements from the anime or add. On the one hand, Marina is a new team member, so she doesn't know much. On the other hand, I didn't think it was necessary to add the research scenes in the story, because someone who reads it probably knows what's going on. So... This result came out! :') I thought I'd keep the general concept instead of writing all of it because it would feel like describing the whole series in a fanfic. Meh... I was in the 9th grade anyway. What do you expect from a writer at that age?

As you can see, my writing doesn't include much action. It's more like a recording of events. As if Marina is writing a diary or something. XD
