An old man sat alone at a dinner table, a newspaper in hand. His dinner plate lay empty on the table, as he had just finished his supper and was reading up on news that he had already read in the morning.

The past few months had been hectic and wild, but he tried to pay no mind to it. The world was a noisy blur ever since she went into a deep long sleep.

He simply existed, living off the help and support from his grandchildren who visited every so often to give him food and treats. He relished every visit that occured. But the visits abruptly stopped one day as his grandchildren had to move from their city they lived in.

The day they called him to let him know was the one that his heart finally broke and he became secluded, at this point with his neighbors dropping off food.

Today had been a strange one to say the least, but he first assumed it was the pesky government again with their annoying giant robots.

Until he realized it was an explosion of great magnitude, coming from the direction of his grandchildren's city. Worry welled up within him, as the sounds of military vehicles went by.

It has now been an hour since then.

He sighed and got up from the table, setting down his newspapers and shuffling over to look out the window. It was hard to exactly see what was going on from his house in Atami, but he could certainly tell something was going on.

Suddenly, a bright flash of light shone through the window and nearly blinded the man, sending him stumbling backwards.

The sky turned a hue of dark purple, as an explosion bigger than any atom bomb destroyed whatever little remains of the city. There was no large shockwave other than the house rattling a bit.

He looked up back in horror as a large snow white woman stood where the city once sat. She looked absolutely massive, and must've been kilometers tall.

She looked like a spirit, a spirit who was reaching out towards a small figure with orange wings. It was a haunting sight to behold. For it was something that was against all rules of nature.

He looked on in absolute horror.

What was seconds turned into what felt like hours, as the old man could only up up at whatever abomination was right before him.

The world outside his home soon turned a bright white, as the ground shook and the house shuddered.

His heart was pounding as soon enough a voice was heard from behind him. A giggle of what he could only assume to be a young school girl.

Quickly spinning around from his prone position on the floor, he saw someone that he thought he'd never see again in this mortal realm.

"Yukiko…"

The old man murmured. His mind kept telling him it wasn't real, and that he must've been hallucinating, but his heart said to go to her.

His once thought to be deceased wife now stood before him. She wore a soft and warm smile, happy to see him.

The old man scrambled to his feet, ignoring the aching bones of his old age. Slowly but surely, he moved towards her, with her in turn opening her arms out for him.

"Yorinobu…"

"Yukiko…"

He moved closer until he could touch her.

"Yukiko!"

Splatter.
