Epithets! Strange powers that one in every five people have. It gives the user various abilities depending on their creativity and their interpretation of what the word means to them. Someone could have animal-like traits from their epithet. Or someone could control anything like fire or ice. Some people can have weird epithets like legs or crybaby. Either way, epithets can be just about anything regardless of language.
Those who have an epithet are known as the Inscribed. Each Inscribed person has a word that's attached to their soul. But since Epithets are randomized, it would take them time to discover what their Epithet could be. Those who don't have an epithet are known as a Mundie. Just ordinary people who are often treated a bit below average compared to their Inscribed competition.
Nobody doesn't know how Epithets exists. But since it's existence hundreds of years ago, things have changed for the better or for worse. Depending on the individual. Some use their epithets for good. Some use it for evil. Some epithets are powerful while others are considered weak. But however the person use these powers… That could be the hard part.
Nonetheless, in the modern world, Epithets have become a major aspect of life. Without it, things would be very different.
