"Sergeant Eros?"
"Hey there, Percy. Glad you can come." Sergeant Eros reaches out his hand to the empty black seat. "Please sit down."
Percy sits down. Eros' office was quite clean. White floors. Blue walls and ceiling. The black door on the left wall is connected to Sergeant Reshman's office. A ceiling fan swinged around slowly. On Eros' desk are a few pictures, a blue desk map, a computer and a keyboard on the side with a mouse. "I assume this is about Giovanni Potage. Not to worry, sir. I haven't given up on the search."
Eros huffed. "I know that already. But that's not it. I have a case for you." He opens the top left drawer of the desk. It was full of beige files. He grabbed one of them and closed the drawer. He puts it on the desk. Percy opens the file. "You see, the National Art Museum is holding an exhibition called "The Beauty of Nature." It would feature nature-based paintings from the famous to the not-so-famous."
"But what happened?"
"Well they feared that some of the paintings that had arrived for the exhibition has been replaced with fakes. I need you to look into this. See if any of the paintings are indeed forged." Percy nods. "Understood." She stood up. "I'll see what I can do." As she turns, Eros said, "Stay frosty."
Ramsey laid down on the old wall-mounted cot. He has been in the Deepwood Prison for a few months now. And luckily he didn't get stabbed or worse. The walls are dull gray. The floors were kinda dirty but not too much. His prison uniform are down to his waist. Revealing his white tank top that was underneath.
He was thinking about what happened a few months ago.
He helped Percy get the Arsene Amulet back, kicked Zora's ass, and despite being arrested for his crimes of fraud and forgery, he accepted her offer. The offer of helping the SJPD with some of their cases. He wasn't expecting that from Percy. But, what else can he do? Rot in prison for the rest of his life? He may be 31 but he ain't ready to spend his days in prison.
Putting that aside, he couldn't help but think about her. An obviously clueless cop but has determination and guts. More guts than he does. But she's also quite… cute? That made him blushed. Even if he's not saying it out loud.
He shakes his head to get rid of that thought. She's a cop. He's a criminal. Cops and criminals don't mix. That also includes the romantic kind.
His thoughts get interrupted by the cell door swinging open. "Ramsey Murdoch?!" Mauna yelled despite being close to him. "You're needed!"
He got out of the cot and stretched his body. He reached out his hands. Knowing what's gonna happened next. Mauna takes out her Eraser Cuffs and slaps it on Ramsey's wrists. A blue glow appeared for a short time. Indicating that its effect has been activated.
Mauna leads him to the prison meeting room. It was quite large and spacious. Rows of dark green chairs are on every ankle of the white rectangular table. One of which is being seated by Percy. "Hello, Ramsey." She greeted him with her usual monotone voice. He gives her a happy smirk. "Heya Percy. Looks like you need me for another case." She nods as she stood and walked to him. "I'll take it from here."
"And tell Uncle Gold that I'll be out for a while." Mauna rolls her eyes and leaves. Once she left, Ramsey said, "She ain't gonna tell him that I left." "Yes… You asked that every time. Do you want me to…?" He shakes his head. "No no. Don't worry. I like saying that to annoy her." He changes the subject. "Anyways, I'm gonna guess it has to do with forgery?" She nods. "Correct." She tells him about the case as they head to the parking lot. Once they get to her car, she takes out her key and takes off the Eraser Cuffs for him. He immediately rubbed his wrist.
He doesn't understand why they have to cuff him if Percy is going to take him for a case. But what can he do?
"I see. So I have to look if the paintings are forged." He puts his hands on the back of his head. "That should be easy." Percy turns the car on and they drive off to Sweet Jazz City.
