Natsu: The Master of Gift Giving
Lucy Heartfilia walked into her apartment, a giant stuffed blue and pink rabbit underneath her arm and a big smile on her face. Lucy and Natsu had another date in the Fiore Shopping District before Natsu went on a solo mission. While they were shopping, Natsu saw a Strength Challenge, the winner getting different colored stuffed rabbits, which Lucy thought were adorable. The second Natsu saw Lucy get starry-eyed at the stuffed toys, Natsu stepped up the challenge, and blew everyone away, literally and figuratively, with a Fire Dragon's Iron Fist, destroying the strength-measuring Lacrima, and securing a stuffed rabbit in blue and pink, Lucy's favorite colors.
Lucy skipped to her room, opened a closet door, and put the stuffed rabbit in front of her other gifts. From a miniature Rainbow Sakura Tree that Natsu had found for her for their 2-month anniversary to the Gale-Force Reading Glasses that Natsu had gotten her for her birthday. What meant a lot to Lucy weren't the physical gifts themselves, but how they showed how much Natsu knew her and had listened to her.
Lucy remembered fawning over Levy's Gale-Force Reading Glasses and how much she had wanted a pair of those. The only reason that Lucy didn't get a pair was that she really only had enough money this month for her rent. The next day, her birthday, Natsu presented her with a pink pair of Gale-Force Reading Glasses. The miniature Rainbow Sakura Tree came from a time she and Natsu talked about how much she loved the giant Rainbow Sakura Tree he had gotten for her when she was sick all those years ago. And over the weekend, Natsu had found Lucy a miniature tree that she could put as a nice decoration in her room.
Lucy wasn't sure how Natsu would be in a romantic relationship when they first started. Lucy loved Natsu with all her heart, and Natsu was one of the nicest people she had ever met, but Natsu was sometimes an airhead, seemingly not paying attention to people or knowing about personal boundaries. But when they started dating, Natsu learned quickly and always made Lucy feel special and appreciated, which was something she wasn't used to given her lonely childhood full of neglect and worry.
Lucy took out her Lacrima phone, looking for something that she could get for Natsu that he would like. Natsu had been talking about wanting more clothes, mainly a new vest, since his old one was starting to fall apart. Lucy remembered that underneath one of the armpits, there were several holes in the vest. Lucy had waited for Natsu to go on his solo mission so that she could try and surprise him when he got back. Lucy looked through her phone, and found something that looked good; a vest with flame decorations. Lucy thought Natsu would look cool, ironically enough in this, so she went to buy the vest, hoping this would be the beginning of many amazing gifts that she could give to Natsu.
