CHAPTER I: THE BEGINNING OF THE TWO ELEMENTS' LIVES
It was a beautiful day, far away from Element City. There sat in the train a female fire element named Ember Lumen and a male water element named Wade Ripple. They are all on their journey from their homes after their goodbyes to their families.
Ember looked at the window with a tearful smile and felt her heart beating. Wade did the same, bur noticed how emotional Ember was feeling. He managed to touch her gently. Ember felt the tenderness and looked up at Wade.
"You okay, Ember?" asks Wade.
"Oh, no, I'm fine, Wade," answered Ember as she blushed,
"Why do you ask?"
"You are feeling emotional as I can see," Wade replied.
Ember stared for a moment and giggled,
"It's from the time we left our family. But we are going out of Element City to study glassmaking activities for our work. Hopefully we can return as long as we travel around, too."
Wade chuckled with a grin. Ember grinned back as the two leaned against each other for a hug. Hours went by as the train stops. Ember and Wade got their packed bags and went out of the train and looked in extreme awe.
The town was full of fragile objects— such as minerals and glass. The elements were all working at glassmaking as part of their jobs.
"Wow, that looks awesome!" Wade cheers.
"Hopefully," replies Ember,
"We must get studying so that we can get a good life for the future, and especially tell our family about what we've learned about glassmaking."
Wade nodded as the two began to get their bags unpacked so that they can find a dorm to live in and even apply for studying glassmaking.
Days went by as Ember and Wade both have studied portions of glassmaking at worktime. The two made their ways to the dorm.
As Ember and Wade are ready for bed because of their long day at work, Wade manages to talk to Ember.
"Hey, Ember?" he asks.
"Yes, Wade?" replies Ember.
"There's something I have to tell you," says Wade.
"Oh, sure! What's that?" the fire element added curiously.
"Ember, when I look up to you, you are a beautiful fire lady I have ever met. I gotta let you know that we had all the friendship memories to share together," the water element replied as tears are about to burst out of his eyes.
Ember grinned as Wade took out a ring and sat on one knee. He said once again,
"Ember Lumen, will you marry me?"
Ember gasped with joy and felt tears streaming down her eyes.
"Yes! Of course I'll marry you, Wade Ripple!"
She cried out and hugged Wade who now began to cry, too. They all hugged while crying, but did their bests to comfort themselves.
The next morning...
*~(Dream Flashback )~*
Ember was trapped in the fireplace as the rocks have been enclosed. She had the blue flame lantern as Wade was with her. They tried to get out, but it was no use.
"Ember!" Wade cried out.
Ember turned but to see Wade evaporating.
"Wade!" she shouted, huddling over to him.
Ember held onto Wade as she noticed his body slowly steaming in disappearance.
"Y— you're evaporating! We can get out of this place together!" the fire element cried in panic.
"There's no time! We can't get out of here because there's no way!" the water element replied in panic as well as his body was evaporating slowly.
"I don't know what to do!" Ember cried out as she held onto her head in fear.
Wade felt concerned once he slowly approached her, saying.
"It's okay, Ember."
"No, it's NOT okay!" cried Ember, but she noticed Wade holding her hand gently.
The water element felt pain of evaporation as he fell over. Ember gasped as she tried to get him back on his feet.
"I have no regrets," Wade says sadly,
"You gave me something people search for their whole lives."
Ember cuddled Wade close to her as she said frantically,
"But I can't exist in a world without you! And I'm sorry I didn't say this before..."
The fire element slowly said to the water element as tears streamed down her eyes,
"I love you, Wade."
Wade smiled as he caressed Ember's face slowly as he was close to being evaporated.
"I love it when your light does that," replied Wade once again as tears formed in his eyes,
"I love you, too, Ember."
Ember held back a sob, sniffled and hugged Wade who did the same. Ember was sobbing silently as Wade made a final touch on Ember. He let out a final breath, released Ember's face from his hand, and closed his eyes.
His body began to evaporate in disappearance as a bright light shines on the scene.
*~(End of Dream Flashback)~*
"NO!" cried Ember as she shot up.
But at a sudden stop, Ember realized that she was in her bed. The fire element looked everywhere in the room as she panted slowly. Ember then stared at the ring that was on her finger and felt relieved. She turned again and saw Wade beside her. He was sound asleep.
Wade's cute when he's sleeping, Ember says in her thoughts while smiling.
She had no time but to wake him up. The fire element slowly touched the water element's sleeping form before she shook him gently.
"Wade?" Ember whispers as her voice was about to break.
Wade felt the touch, stirred, and opened his eyes slowly. He slowly sat up and saw Ember looking at him with tears from her eyes.
"Ember, what's with the tears?" Wade asks with concern,
"Are you okay?"
Ember sobbed out and nuzzled by Wade's chest. The water element frowned a little bit and placed a hand on the fire element's side to comfort her.
"Wade, it was awful!" cried Ember,
"Back in the time when there was a flood, the two of us were trapped in the fireplace full of heat inside my father's shop! And… you were evaporating…"
"Ember—" Wade tried to explain, but Ember continued on,
"You nearly died after all this and…"
Then she couldn't take it anymore, letting tears fall from her eyes. Ember continued to cry as she embraced the water element. Wade felt sadness and hugged the fire element with comfort.
"Ember, it's okay. What matters now is that you and your family have helped me do the crying challenge after this situation, and you finally helped me rise to life," he soothed.
Ember looked up with tears and slowly formed into a smile. Wade smiled and continued on,
"I made a promise to keep that I will always be by your side. Forever as always, Ember."
Ember held back a sob and hugged Wade who returned it. The hug broke as Ember curiously added,
"Is today a wedding?"
Wade thought on what Ember said. Then he grinned.
"What's the other reason that it cannot make this wedding today?" asked Wade.
Ember chuckled. Then, she and Wade both managed to pack their stuff and go back home for their wedding party.
