Joyride - Amphibia

Author's Note: I don't own Amphibia. The show and its characters belong to the very creative and talented Matt Braly.

After celebrating Anne's 23rd birthday, Marcy decided to stay in Los Angeles longer than she initially planned to. Both of them were temporarily staying at Sasha's apartment to make up for the ten years they've been separated.

Anne and Marcy run into the living room after changing out of their pajamas where Sasha had her laptop and a stack of papers covering the dining room table. "Sasha! Marcy and I wanna go get breakfast! Would you like to come?"

"Sorry ladies, I'm busy organizing a bunch of paperwork today. I've had so much fun with you guys these past few weeks I've gotten behind on my job. I even promised a few clients I'd chat with them virtually this weekend to make up for the days I took off."

"Geez, I'm never gonna get used to you saying that. Well do you want us to bring you something back?" Anne asked.

"Some pancakes would be nice. Here, spare the Uber, they're such crooks." Sasha throws Anne her car keys. "Don't kill yourselves." She then lets out a loud whisper: "And don't let Marcy drive."

"Hey I heard that!" Marcy said, slightly offended.

"It's for your own good Mar-Mar." Anne nodded in agreement with Sasha, holding her keys then they both exited Sasha's apartment.

Anne and Marcy entered the cherry red convertible and drove away. When they arrived at the diner and sat down, Anne's phone buzzed three times.

"Hey can you pick me up some folders and paper clips?"

"One more thing, I need Preparation H for my back scar. It ironically helps."

"Sorry 😂"

"Oh come on Sasha!" Anne said out loud and facepalmed.

"What happened?" Marcy said, with her face in the menu, still trying to decide what to eat.

"Sasha wants… butt cream."

She looks up, closes the menu and slams it down on the table enthusiastically. "Oh yes! Our scars mimic the sensation of hemorrhoids!"

"Well that must be one huge pain in the ass." Anne laughed. "Sorry, sorry, I know it's not funny. But seriously, I could've gone on with my presumably eternal life not knowing that."

After finishing their food and grabbing Sasha's pancakes, they both got back in the car and Anne drove to Target since it was the nearest store that sold everything she needed to get.

Marcy was banned from Target for knocking over an entire shelf by walking into it, so she had no choice but to stay in the car. Anne left it running with the A/C on full blast because it was scorching outside and she wanted Marcy to be comfortable. After Anne disappeared into the store, Marcy had an idea.

"How about I take this baby for a test drive! Anne will never know." The curious young lady slid her body into the driver's seat, fastened her seatbelt, then shifted the gear into drive and the car started moving. She made it about two times around the parking lot successfully until she got distracted and hit a shopping cart corral head on. She then backed up too fast and hit someone's parked car.

"MARCY!" Anne shouted and began to panic. "Oh Frog! Sasha is gonna KILL us!" Marcy parked the car and quickly slid back to the passenger's side. Anne threw the stuff Sasha asked for in the backseat and took off before the owner of that vehicle came back and saw the damage.

"Anne I'm so s-" Marcy cried out, unable to finish what she was trying to say before tears filled her big brown eyes.

"I can't believe I couldn't leave you alone for TEN MINUTES without you getting into danger! It's not even about the car, you could've gotten yourself if not someone else seriously injured. A car is not a toy and I'm sure you know that, you're the smartest person I've ever met." Anne sounded like a disappointed mother teaching her disobedient child a lesson with a long, honest lecture.

Inevitably, they brought the car back to Sasha and she came running outside to inspect the damage.

"WHAT THE HELL BOONCHUY! DID YOU LET MARCY DRIVE?"

"Not exactly… I had to run into Target and she kind of-"

Sasha started pacing back and forth on the pavement. "Do you have any idea how much this is gonna cost to fix?!"

"We'll pay for the repairs I promise." Anne assured her while Marcy nodded in agreement, with her face still angled towards the ground.

"I'm so sorry Sashy. I just wanted to know what it feels like to drive a real car and not some simulation inside a video game. Even though I passed the written test with a perfect score, no one ever let me and now I understand why. I'm such a klutz. I can't even show my face at Target again for crying out loud." She sat down on the curb and started sobbing with her face in the palms of her hands. "I know I've been such a handful since I got here. I'll go back to Massachusetts if you guys don't wanna see me anymore."

The blonde sighs and sits down next to Marcy. "It's okay Marce, I forgive you. I hate to say this but you're better off staying a passenger princess."

Anne sits on the other side of her. "Yeah, at least for a little while longer."

"More like forever." Sasha added and they all laughed, even Marcy who was still lightly sobbing.

"You're never borrowing my car again Boonchuy."

"Understood." Anne agreed.

"So where's my pancakes?" Sasha asked in a more graceful tone of voice.

Anne handed her the pancakes along with the ointment and stationery supplies she picked up for her and they all went back inside like nothing happened.
