When the past should stay buried

Uni works hard for her Nation, maybe too hard. So Noire sends her on a break. Now Uni needs to decide where to spend her free time.

My first Short story.

When the Past should stay Buried.

Uni was working admirably for her Nation, so much so that Noire was getting worried since the young Candidate almost never took time for herself to use it for a Vacation. Regular break's, sure she did that... sometimes. But this was getting out of hand, so Noire saw that it was time to put her foot on the ground.

Getting up from her Office desk, Noire walked over to Unis Desk.
"Uni, when was the last time you went on a Vacation?"

Getting snapped out of her Concentration Uni wasn't sure where her Sister was going with that.
"Vacation? Noire I can't, there is so much to do...and where am I supposed to go?"

That last part she made sure to silence that phrase.
Concern was spreading across Noire's Face, so she tried a different approach.

Leaning against the Desk, Noire used the Candidates best friend as a Tactic.
"You know...you could go Visit Planeptune for a week, go see Nepgear or so."

Uni started blushing furiously.
"I...think about it...but I'm sure she's busy Babysitting Neptune."

Forcing Uni out of her Seat and shoving her out of the office, Noire made sure she would get away from that pesky workload.
"Whatever as long as you take a break, I'll see you in a week alright, enjoy your Vacation."

And with that Noire slammed the door shut and Uni was standing frozen in the hallway, wondering where did that come from.

Using her N-Gear to call Nepgear, she might as well do what Noire told her to. Only to find out that the Evil Histoire of Planeptune has grounded Neptune and Nepgear had to calm down the angry Overlord of the Basilicom.

Letting out a long huff, she came up with a different idea. Calling the Twins of course, but the same trouble on the Northern side of Gamindustri as well.
The Twins were also grounded, pulling a pretty mean prank on Mina the Oracle of Lowee. Apparently Leanboxes CPU was also there for whatever reason.
Putting her N-Gear back into her pocket, the Candidate was at a loss.
"What am I supposed to do?!"

Well there was still one option left, the beautiful Beaches of Leanbox. She didn't get to interact much with Vert, so she could spend the week with the Goddess of Green.

Uni made her decision.
"Alright, Leanbox it is."

After a short flight over the Ocean she spotted the beautiful Basilicom in the Land of Green pasture.
Aiming for the balcony, Uni made her way inside.
Only to find...well...no one.
"Where is everyone, it's Friday so she should be home, wait...didn't Ram say something about 'frickin sexy and smells good is also here' or something like that?"

It was still early about 11:00 am so Uni snooped around the Basillicom finding Verts questionable Games and Novels, different Portrait'sand the overall furniture. It's pretty nice and fancy here.
Maybe she should hit the Beach, Vert may be back in the evening. Uni was on her way out until she saw a Door that was barricaded from top to the bottom with multiple Locks.
Uni was curious to find out what's behind the Door, but she would not break other People's property. Maybe she would ask Vert about this Door when she comes home.

When Unis Vision suddenly disappeared and she started to suffocate, breathing was getting difficult she almost lost her consciousness until. "Oooh I spot myself a sweet Candidate."
Vert stood behind Uni, softened her grip so she could breath again.
Looking down at those beautiful red eyes, she turned Uni around to face her.
"Are you finally fed up with Noire and came to me Uni?!"
Verts eyes were shinning with excitement.

"No... nothing like that, I'm just here to spend my Vacation."

Now Vert was really excited.
"Oh that is just wonderful, I know just the thing. We can go shopping or hit the Beach, our Parks are just magnificent or how about the Steam-Market, we can go there."

Uni backed off a little.
"Whoa easy Vert, you're breathing all heavy. Well...yeah we could do all that. But could we...spar too."

Vert nodded and put her hands on her hips. The week came and went really fast. Two Days were left for Unis Vacation. It was a fun Vacation, they visited the amusement park and went to the shooting range. But what Uni really was missing, were the practice battle's.

When the Candidate of Lastation the CPU of Leanbox and her Oracle Chika were sitting at the dinner table, with a magnificent view towards the sunset. Uni felt the need to ask.
"Hey Vert, so when are we going to train? It's already been five days."

Vert was pouring herself fine Wine and taking a sip from her glass when she was looking at the amazing sunset. Unis question snapped her out of her relaxed State and getting her attention back.
"Oh, yes of course. Your ambitions are so admirable, hmhm just like your sister. Makes me wish that you would stay forever."

That made the Oracle roll her eyes, Uni nodded but avoided eye contact.
"Great than let's train tommorow in the morning and...Vert...what's behind that closed Door with the million Locks on it?"

Chika stopped eating and took a sharp glance at Vert.
Vert froze up, here eyes went distant, Uni could swear, just for a second she saw Vert starring at her like she wanted to snap the young Candidates neck. The wine was dripping on the dinner table, Vert didn't even notice that she spiled her Glass.
"Ahm...Vert...are you... alright? Your...Wine!"

The moment Uni spoke up made Vert jump up dropping her Glass. Uni was getting nervous by the second, frantically looking around, did she say something she shouldn't have. Chika stood up and got Verts attention.
"Darling, that's enough Wine for you. Go get some sleep I'll take care of the rest."

Vert just nodded.
"My apologies Uni, I think I had too much to drink."
With that Vert left for the room while Chika cleaned up the rest. "Don't worry, you did nothing wrong, Darling just had too much to drink." Reassures Chika, but somehow Uni doubted that.

The next morning came and Vert was knocking on Unis door. Vert took a deep breath.
"Relax, everything is fine, don't scare the young Candidate." Vert thought too herself.

After another few knocks Uni responded.
"Yes, who is there?

Vert tried to calm down her Nerves and let out a sigh.
"Good morning Uni, it's me Vert. Would you like to train today? You were so eager yesterday, so how about it?"

No answer came. The guilt flashed inside Verts head.
She was afraid that she scared Uni off. She held her Hand at the Door.

"Uni...are you alright?"

"Yes, about time!"
The answer came behind the Door, but that didn't help to get rid of Verts guilt.

Both Deities stood inside the Magnificent Garden of the Basilicom. Beautiful Wellsprings, Statue's and Flowers made the Garden a real looker.

"So this is our Battlegrounds? Seems fitting."
Said Uni with a small smirk.

Vert summoned her Speer, twirling it in a impressive speed and took her stance.
"I'll be on the defense."

Uni got her rifle out and her Handgun on the side ready.
And shot a few rounds from her rifle at Vert. Vert deflected the rounds with her Spear and the bullets hit the ground. She was making sure that none of the Bullets would hit the Wellsprings and Statue's.

"Didn't expect anything less!"
Said Uni while sprinting to Verts left flank kept shooting at Vert. Vert lifted her left hand and twirled her Spear like a propeller, catching all Bullets again. All the Bullets stayed on Verts Speer tip she put all Bullets on the ground and made a line with it. And made sure to give Uni the best smile she has to offer.

"I can do better than that." Said Uni while changing her ammo.

She shot heavy Armor Breaking Bullets at Vert this time.
It showed some effect by pushing Vert slightly backwards with each shot. To Verts disdain, since some Bullets hit the Wellspring and that left a bitter taste in her mouth.
"My beautiful garden" was all she could think about at this moment.
Vert jumped into the Air what turned out to be a bad idea since she couldn't catch the Bullet the right way and it hit some flowers.

Verts eyes were twitching.

"What's going on, my attack's show no effect!"
Uni was getting frustrated at this point. She changed to her Handgun and shot Three rounds to Verts right side this Time. Only to be left with a open mouth.

"You caught the Bullets with your hands! And you didn't even look in my direction!"

Vert just shrugged her shoulder's.

When Uni trained with Noire she sometimes got some good shots inside, but this is ridiculous. Uni went in and pointed her Gun at Verts face at point blank and pulled the trigger. Only to witness that the Bullet went straight through Vert. Uni pointed her finger at Vert.
"How! I saw the bullet went straight through your head!"

Vert shrugged again
"Guess I'm just that fast...now it's my turn!"

Uni created instantly some distance between her and Vert, changed to her rifle again and pulled the trigger.
Vert disappeared instantly and the bullets went for some bushes. Uni looked behind her and saw how Vert was swinging her Speer in Unis direction only to dodge it in the last second. But the second move from the side Uni could never dodge. Uni could swear that just for a second she saw multiple Verts at once moving in all directions. Verts eyes frightened Uni to the core. Uni barely catched her balance when the Speer was dangerously close to her Heart.

But Vert stopped her attack only to disappear again. Uni had a feeling and turned around. And as she did, Vert flicked Unis gun out of her hand and then she flicked Unis nose and ran away while laughing.
"Got your Nose Uni! Come and get it back!"

Uni got really angry at that moment.
"You think this is funny!"

Vert stopped when she heard Uni scream. Uni was so angry she was so close to crying.
"Why...why are you so much stronger than Noire!"

Vert put one hand to her cheek.
"Oh dear, I had a feeling this was the case."

"What are you talking about!?"
Screamed Uni again.

Vert moved closer to Uni and cleaned Unis tears with her hands.
"Uni, your sister is so so so much stronger than you think she is. She just went easy on you. I know I would... if I had a sister, well I mean I did hold back, after all you're MY little sister."

Uni calmed down after hearing this.
"So you're saying you all are holding back every time?
Just how fast are you really!"

Vert smiled softly at Uni.
"Quite fast I assure you, that doesn't really matter but what does matter is that we get ourselves some ice cream, don't you think we deserved that!?"

Uni left it as it is and just nodded. Both went into the city and got some ice cream and after that to the theater.

The same day but late at night:

Chika was still inside her office and got the last paperwork done. After stretching and getting up from her chair, she couldn't wait for her CPU to praise her hard Work. She made her way through the long hallway only to see something was not right.

The closed Door with all the Locks on it was open.
Looking down she could tell the locks have been destroyed. She had a suspicion who might have entered that closed Basement-like room and she went inside.

After a few minutes of walking she found a disturbed and distressed Candidate who pointed at every object inside that room.

"What the hell is this!"
Uni screamed at Chika.

Chika put her hands on her hips.
"What are you doing here? You're not supposed to be here!"

Uni pointed at Blueprints at the wall and pictures of the other CPUs stuff that looked like rocket's, missiles, flasks with a skull on it that had more resemblance with a serum and pictures of mutilated people.
"I knew something was up! Is this Verts stuff? And why are those Anti share crystals here!?"

Chika sighed.
"Fine I tell you but we need to get out of here before Darling finds out about this!"

Both left the room that went downward like a Basement.
Chika put new locks on the Door and got rid of the old ones. She motioned Uni to follow her and both went outside to the Balcony.

"Now listen you nosey brat what I'm about to tell you, you better not tell it to someone else!"

Unis eye twitched at that comment but she still nodded.
"Alright" Chika began.
"Before you Candidates were born...let's just say Darling and the other CPUs didn't get...along to well. Things were said and done that one would regret later. And I guess after you saw the things down there you got a pretty good picture of what went down."

Uni needed a moment to process all that and gulped down.
"So the Anti Share Crystals were for the others? How could she..."

But Chika covering her face with one hand and waved her head in horror.
"They were not for the CPUs, the Serum was..."

Uni took a few steps backwards.
"Thats a lie...she wouldn't... right...us too..."

Chika needed to sit down and gestured for Uni to sit next to her.
"You know it's not like she doesn't like you girls...it's just... Darling was the only one who didn't get a sibling. And she didn't take that too...well..."

Uni kept her head down as she listened to Chikas Story.
"Then why did the war end?"

A few silent seconds went by as Chika really didn't want to speak about it.
"The casualties...were so high...on all fronts...all Nations decided to end it... before they lost so many people that there wouldn't be enough shares around. It was selfish really, Darling goes every Friday at 8 am to the other Nations and prays at the Basilicom for the atrocities she committed. You saw the pictures, so Vert will never forget. She does it so often even Lady Blanc caught wind of it and is always right on the clock on 9 inside the Church waiting for Vert!"

Chikas eye started to twitch and her fist was waving wildly. "I sure hope for Lady Flanc...I mean...Blanc..
that she keeps her little hands to herself. Always flaunting around my sweet Darling."
She said as she chewed on her Nails.

Uni put her hand on Chikas.
"Thank you for telling me this."

Chika softly held Unis hand.
"And don't you dare say a word about this to anyone!"

Unis vacation came to an end, as she said her goodbye's to everyone, she had one last question.
"Say Vert, is it true that Neptune is the strongest CPU of you all?"
That caused a big laugh out of Vert.
"Oh Uni you are killing me... too bad Blanc's not here she would love that joke."

Uni couldn't help but blink at that statement.
"Oh don't get me wrong dear, Neptune is a capable fighter, but the strongest...no! Wouldn't you think since we fought for hundreds of years that she would get rid of all of us in such a long time? You think there was no one on one battle inside hundreds of years, ridiculous! It's just that before she lost her memory she fought...well... dirty, that's why it's been rather difficult sometimes."

Uni just smiled as she Transformed into black sister and flew back home to Lastation. Landing at the Balcony of her Basilicom. She opened the Glass Door and went inside.

"Noire, I'm back!"

Noire came out of the kitchen and greeted Uni with a small nod.
"How was your vacation Uni and where were you? You certainly were not in Planeptune, I can tell by how tanned you are!"

Uni put up a small smile.
"Say Noire, how was Vert before I was born?"

Noire looked dumbfounded at that question, as a massive shiver went down her spine, clearly from not pleasant memories.
"What's with that question? I guess the same as now?"

Uni nodded and gave Noire a hug, which surprised Noire for a second.
"I'm tired, I'm in my room if you need me."

As Uni left for her room and Noire couldn't help but to have a thousand questions on her mind. Should she call Vert and ask, hmmm maybe better not.
