Cat snuggled down in his box and yawned. No, he wasn't at Marinette's. He was on a rooftop. After so many early morning satsumas, he had taken matters into his own hands, er, paws. After all, what could worse then interrupting a early morning cat-nap. The warm sun worked its magic, and soon Cat was fast asleep.
Cat woke awhile later. Sniff. Sniff. What was that delicious smell? Hm, cinnamon. Syrup. Berries. Someone was making pancakes! And it was Cat's luck that the smell was coming from the Dupain-Cheng bakery.
Leaping across rooftops he landed on Marinette's balcony and went through the skylight, also known as the cat flap.
"Cat! What are you doing here?" Marinette asked in surprise to see Cat sitting on her bed. "I smelled pancakes." "Papa's cooking breakfast this morning, and I promised I'd help." She tied on her apron. "Can I help?" "I'm sure Papa can find you something to do."
Papa Dupain was singing away at the stove, the hot cakes sizzling away in the skillet. "Cat, just the person I need," Mama Cheng said. "You can help me with this puzzle."
While Cat worked on the puzzle, Marinette helped her father. So far, Cat had been good, and he hadn't tried to steal a pancake.
Cat tried to concentrate, but his stomach growled. Surely, they wouldn't miss one pancake, would they? His tail begin to swish. "Sabine, can you grab more cinnamon from downstairs?" Tom called. "I'll be back soon," Mama promised Cat.
Here was his chance! Cat crept into the kitchen, but he didn't need to worry. Papa was distracted, and so was Marinette. She held her spalta while watching the newest Adrien ad. Cat dropped on all fours and begin to creep towards the tower of pancakes.
His paw reached up and…..Uh-oh. Marinette wasn't as distracted as he thought she was. Poised with the spatula , Marinette gave her best friend a sideways glare. "Paw off the cakes." Cat smiled, green eyes glowing. "Princess, just one?"
Well, at least he'd tried. "Fine. I'm going to take a nap." Okay, so he had just had one not long ago, but he had to do something to pass the time!
Cat enjoyed his breakfast, but more importantly he enjoyed the company. Ah, what a morning. Naps and Pancakes. Cat couldn't wait to see what lunch brought on!
