Chapter 01: A Space Oddity
Disclaimer: neither Devil May Cry or Honkai Star Rail belongs to me. If that was the case I wouldn't have made Any of the Mihoyo games a gacha hellgate.
"If there is something like an almighty and all-knowing God he must have an asshole sense of humor " I thought to myself with a wry smile as I recalled how I ended in my current situation: fighting some demon worshippers that were attempting to open a gateway to hell during a job somehow ended up with me being send to a train that was traveling across space of all things.
Truly my luck can't be more rotten than this.
So here I was inside a space train being interrogated by the crew of said train explaining how in hell I ended there. "So that's your story?" Asked me stoically, the black haired man at the left of the bombshell was the apparent leader of said crew to which I just shrugged my shoulders because I knew how insane my story sounded but it was the truth nevertheless.
"Pretty much. I know it sounds insane but given that I'm in a spaceship and you guys are from another universe. It would not be a stretch for you guys." I replied as I made myself more comfortable on the sofa I was sitting with a small smirk on my face. "Besides I won't win anything by lying to you guys." I then set my sight on the other man besides the leader of this group. The bespectacled Brown haired man that was looking at me analytically.
"Do you need something buddy? Because you have been looking at me intently since this little interrogation began" I asked the man annoyed because it was obvious he wanted to ask me something but was debating if to do it or not.
"Sorry for that, it wasn't my intention to incomodate you Mr. Dante" told me the man, to which I just shrugged and gestured to get to the point and ask me what he wanted me to respond. "But I wanted to ask you if you were a member of the Kaslana family? Because you share many characteristics of them." I arched an eyebrow at that, an entire family of half demons that look exactly like me? I highly doubted that my father was the founder of that family but certainly didn't hurt to ask.
No, never heard of them." I answered him, the man looked surprised at my answer, likely not expecting my answer. "By chance the founder of said family was named Sparda by any chance?" Now it was his turn to look puzzled, which was more than enough to confirm my suspicions.
Welt narrowed his brows at the word sealing and looked in his eyes studying Dante. Maybe he was comparing me to a counterpart or someone in his world where some badass took on demons. Then sacrificed their powers to seal them away from humanity. "No, never heard of any Sparda. Why is he important?" At his question I couldn't help but chuckle. "If only you knew buddy." I thought amused at the prospect of someone not knowing the legend of my oh so revered father.
"Well, I never thought I would meet people that didn't know the legend of Sparda, after all it is a very well known legend back home" I told him, the man nodded in understanding while the others looked at me interested in what I was about to say. Which was fine by me. "Basically 2000 years ago a demon named Sparda came to the realization that unlike him most of the other members of his race, he wasn't an asshole."
And he took offense to that so he went and single handedly kicked hell's collective ass and topping it off by simultaneously knocking out his former boss the demon emperor and sealing off the connection between the human and demon worlds and then expect the next centuries roaming the earth seeing the sights, meeting interesting people and kicking all kinds of ass until until he met a gal, they hooked up, married and had two children until one day he left to buy milk and cigarettes and died in the way back."
"Okay, now you must be joking!" Screamed the pink haired girl that was the other female of the crew to no one's surprise (because her crewmates already knew her and me because she gave me the impression of being someone that kept her heart on her sleeve) "Demons!? Truly? That sounds like the plot of some shitty anime." But her tirade was stopped by the redhead bombshell who looked at me with a faint smile and a knowing look, like she has seen a situation like this before.
"Calm down March 7, he hasn't done anything to be treated as a threat." she said to pinky keeping the same smile before looking at the bespectacled man at her right. "Besides this isn't the first time we have met someone that came from another dimension isn't right Welt?" The man nodded at her words before speaking once again.
"Just like you Mr Dante, I'm someone that ended up stranded in this dimension" said the man which caught my attention immediately. After all if there are others like me then it means that there's a way in and if that is the case.
"There is a away out." I thought for myself after hearing his words, after all, if both of us ended up stranded here then it means that there is a way back home. "I know what you are thinking Mr Dante, but unfortunately while it is possible to enter this dimension it is very hard to get out of it." Said Welt to me with an understanding look.
"After all, I am too looking for a way back home." I couldn't help but let a bemused look cross my face because of course things wouldn't be so easy. They never were in the past, and certainly wouldn't be easy now. "But when did the odds stop me from doing something?" I thought. Because no matter what I will get back home.
"Which brings me to ask you this" said the redhead to me with a small smile on her face. "Would you like to join us in the Astral Express?" She took a sip from her coffee before continuing. "I know it's sudden, but seeing that your current situation is quite similar to Welt's I think joining the crew will increase your chances because we travel across the known galaxy and beyond" she finished her little selling pitch (which was a very good one I'm not gonna lie) and after meditating on it I came to a decision.
"Okay, seeing that you're my best shot at finding a way back home, I accept your offer miss…" I answered her which caused various reactions amongst the crew, Welt and the black haired man just gave understanding looks at me, as if they were used to this.
Meanwhile the girl that Welt guy called March 7 just puffed her cheeks but said nothing else before giving me a smile that screamed 'welcome aboard!' and the last member; a bunny of all things dressed with the typical uniform of the train crew from a movie gave me a serious and solemn nod.
Yes, this will be a very wacky and bizarre adventure and I am all for it!!!
"My name is Himeko, Dante. And welcome to the Astral Express." She greeted me with the same smile as she extended her hand, I smiled too and shook it. Yes this will be a fun ride.
Author's Note: And that's all folks!!! Tell me what you think? Good, bad or mid? This story idea came to be mostly from binge watching the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies and playing too much honkai star rail.
For anyone interested this story takes place some time later after the events of DMC3 and before the plot of Honkai Star Rail begins so Dante is in his 20s and his appearance is the same for the anime and the Player Character is still with Kafka. Also I will include characters from other series to fill the space because this is a big galaxy but adapted to the setting.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome bye bye.
