Chapter 1
The plane was flying through the air and the rouge avengers were relaxing as they flew.
Steve Rogers smiled as he watched Wanda Maximoff play with her powers between her hands. The kid had been through a lot and Steve was determined to protect her. Sam was sleeping in the chair beside Steve having fallen asleep while reading a book. The man seemed the most worried about what was going to happen next. Natasha and Clint were speaking in low tones with the later giving off angry looks. Steve knew Clint was struggling right now with everything that happened before leaving Wakanda.
MEMORY LANE
T'Challa walked in with a grim look on his face. His mother, Ramonda, followed him in with their guards, The Dora Milaji, following behind. Behind them stood several men and woman in business suits.
Steve stands up confused. "T'Challa, what's going on?"
"The Accords committee has agreed to let all of you go home IF you sign the accords. These men and women," T'Challa said with a wave of his hand, "are here to go over the packets with you and help you if you want to negotiate the accords."
"You have to be kidding me? We can't sign them now." Clint said in anger.
One of the women in the back scoffed.
Natasha froze in shock, "Agent Robertson? What are you doing here?"
Clint's eyes widened in shock as a woman stepped forward with a furious look.
"After you and Rogers dumped shield files all over the internet, I was revealed to be an undercover agent, so I had to flee for my life. Thanks for that by the way. Nothing gets the blood pumping than being shot at by terrorist group who want to blow up the USA. The U.S. Government gave me a chance to work as security for the Accords committee. They found out I used to work with shield and sent me to deal with you personally, Romanoff. The Accords Committee felt it was better for someone trained in your line of work to deal with you. Did you forget? YOU signed the accords and broke them. Unlike the others, you are in a worse position. I have been sent because YOU can't manipulate me using your mind or sex. If you EVER want to be free, I suggest you meet with me or don't. It will not bother me if you screw up again. I will enjoy laughing as you are thrown in a jail cell." The woman said with a smug tone.
"Hey! don't talk to her like that." Clint said in anger.
"Why shouldn't she? After everything she and the others have done to our family." A voice said.
Clint's eyes widened as his wife, Laura, appeared.
"Laura, sweetheart. What are you doing here? How are the kids?" Clint said with a smile going to hug the woman.
Natasha and Scott frowned at Laura's tone. Something was very wrong.
The others smiled at seeing the woman. Their smiles disappeared when suddenly Clint went flying to the ground as Laura sucker punched the man in the face.
"How dare you try and act like nothing has happened?" Laura said in a quiet angry tone.
"Hey now, that's not ok." Steve started to say.
A gun was suddenly pointed at him between the eyes by the woman.
Steve stopped in shock.
"The only thing stopping me from putting a bullet through your head is that my kids need a parent who will put them first." Laura said with a snarl. "Let me make something very clear to you, Rogers. You are NEVER allowed near me or my kids ever again. You destroyed my family the minute you chose to call my RETIRED husband into your civil war with the world. You are a disgusting human being who should have died in the ice and saved the world from having to deal with your narcissistic attitude. I hate you and I wish the US would let you die for your crimes. Now back off."
Sam reached out grabbing Steve's arm and pulling him away from the woman.
Clint slowly stood up staring at his wife in shock. "Laura?"
The woman placed the gun in the holster at her hip before pushing a stack of papers into the man's hands. Clint frowned while Natasha and Scott's eyes widened. It didn't take a genius to figure out what those papers were.
"YOU DIVORCED ME?!" Clint screamed.
"YOU ABANDONED OUR FAMILY! ROSS TOOK THE KIDS AWAY FROM ME AND I WAS STUCK IN A JAIL CELL UNTIL I COULD PROVE I WAS INNOCENT. THEY FINED ME HUNDREDES OF DOLLARES FOR WHAT YOU DID. WE LOST EVERYTHING." Laura screamed at him.
Clint stared at her in shock.
"What about the farm?" he whispered.
Tears ran down Laura's face. "Is that all you care about?"
"This is Stark's fault. He caused all of this." Clint snarled in anger.
Laura shook his head. "How stupid could you be? The only one at fault is you."
Clint glared at the woman, "I was helping Captain America."
Laura closed her eyes in anger. "You really are the dumbest person I have ever met. Why did I marry you?"
Hurt flashed on Clint's face as Laura opened her eyes to stare at him.
"Tony Stark is the reason I was released and have the kids back. He found out that I was being held in a jail cell and sent his lawyers after Ross for illegally holding me. He also pressured child services to give me our children back. They were not going to do it because I didn't have a home. The farm was taken by Ross and the house along with everything in it destroyed. Tony bought me a house in a good neighborhood showing I did have a home. He helped me furnish our new home. I owe everything to Tony for what he has done to save our family. Unlike you. You chose to abandon your family to go fight in a war between Rogers and the world. You decided to leave without even talking to me. You became a fugitive the minute you made the decision to follow Steve Rogers. Not Tony Stark. You, Clint Barton, made this problem happen for our family." Laura said in anger.
The woman turned and started walking toward the door.
"Laura?" Clint called out in shock and pain.
She turned to glare at him. "I was granted the divorce and received sole custody of our kids. Don't bother trying to find our new home. I asked Tony to ensure no one can find it again. As far as I'm concerned, my children have no father. Natasha, don't bother coming to see the kids. You are no longer welcome in my home. You should have stopped him the minute you learned he was there. You are dead to me."
Natasha winced at those words.
Clint tried to go after her but the Dora Milaje got in the way.
Laura shook her head. "Just leave me and my family alone, Clint. You have made it clear who you prioritize first and it's not my family. You have done enough to hurt my family and I never want to see you again."
Clint fell to his knees in shock as he watched Laura walk away with tears running down his face. The others stood there awkwardly not knowing how to help the man.
EXIT MEMORY LANE
Clint was hoping to get a lawyer to fight back against Laura and see his kids. Natasha was trying to get him to see if there was a way to salvage his marriage. Steve hoped the problem would be fixed once they were back in America. It wasn't right for Laura to deny Clint his children or leave him for doing what needed to be done. Only time would tell what would happen next.
Steve glanced back to see Scott Lang sitting several rows away from the rest of the rogues. The man couldn't help but frown when he thought of the way Scott had been treating them since T'Challa said they could go home if they signed the accords.
MEMORY LANE 2
T'Challa sighed and rubbed his eyes.
"I think it would be best if you all ate an early lunch and we will pick this back up afterward." The man said.
He was honestly regretting everything he had done.
Steve frowned. "There's no point. We shouldn't be forced to sign the accords. We know what is best for the world and should not have to answer anyone's questions about our decisions on how to handle events."
Queen Mother Ramonda scoffed at the man. "A man who feels he does not need to answer to anyone for his actions is a man who will become a monster who kills those who disagree with him without a conscience. My husband supported this and so do I. No matter what happens today, you will sign and be scheduled to leave Wakanda forever or you will refuse and forced to leave Wakanda forever. Each of you is banned from ever returning to our land. You have 24 hours from now to decide your fate, but you will be leaving one way or another."
Steve's eyes widened. "T'Challa?"
T'Challa sighed. "I have no choice in the matter. I am facing criminal charges of my own. I…I have had to step down from being king of Wakanda."
The others eyes widened in shock.
Scott licked his lips. "Who is in charge than?"
Queen Mother Ramonda smirked. "Shuri will become Queen when she comes of age. Until that time, I am regent. I will do what is best for my kingdom and you rogues are not what is best for us."
The other rogues frowned while Scott sighed.
He stepped forward and bowed to the woman.
"Your highness, I'm not a bright man. I would need a representative who would be willing to explain and break down everything for the accords in the simplest way possible." Scott said with a sad smile.
A young man stepped forward. "I would be happy to work with Mr. Lang, your highness."
Ramonda smiled. "Thank you, Dakarai. Go with him and learn well, Mr. Lang."
Scott stood and moved toward the man with Steve yelling his name in the background. The guards couldn't help but laugh at the conversation the two had as they left the room.
"So, do you think we can grab lunch and eat while we go through these things?" Scott asked with a smirk.
Dakarai laughed. "I happen to know the best restaurant in Wakanda. My aunt will be happy to fix us the best meal in our country, Bunny Chow. You will love it."
*Bunny Chow – a hallow loaf of bread filled with curry*
Scott's eyes widened. "It's not really made from bunnies, right?"
The group in the room heard Dakarai laughing as he started to explain the meal.
Ramonda turned to the others. "What about the rest of you?"
Steve scoffed. "We don't need the help."
Ramonda raised an eyebrow with a smirk on her face. "Very well. Take these forms and give them to the Dora Milaje when you sign them. You have 24 hours to sign and return them to us or leave Wakanda. Mrs. Romanoff, I suggest you leave with Agent Robertson."
Queen Mother Ramonda left with her head held up high. T'Challa sighed before following his mother. He had his own representative waiting for him in the library to go over his options. The guards followed after the other representatives left the Accords packets on the table.
Natasha sighed before following Agent Robertson out of the room as the woman glared at her.
Steve, Clint, Sam and Wanda glanced at each other before moving to sit at the table to decide what to do. They did not want to sign the accords but it looks like they might not have a choice. They had 24 hours to decide.
EXIT MEMORY LANE
Scott came back that evening and refused to speak with them when Steve demanded to know what happened during his meeting and if he had signed them. The two got into a fight when Steve tried to reprimand Scott for leaving without Steve's say so. Steve was leader of this group, and he made the decisions. The tension had grown when Wanda accidentally used her power on him.
The man's screams brought the Dora Milaje and Wanda was almost killed. If it was not Sam's fast talking she would have been.
Scott begged the Dora Milaje for a different part of the building far from Wanda. He even said he would take the dungeons if it meant being away from the crazy witch. A quick call to Ramonda and the man packed his stuff to be moved. Steve tried to persuade and order him not to go but Scott wouldn't listen.
Scott's cruel words that Wanda should have been executed to save the world did not sit well with the rogues and, only the Dora Milaje presences, stopped the woman from using her powers on him on purpose.
Natasha arrived as the man was leaving. She shook her head and walked to her room ignoring everyone. She refused to say what happened in her meeting.
Steve and the other three eventually decided to sign 15 minutes before the deadline the next day.
The trip to the airport was tense. Scott refused to sit by Wanda but also refused to have her behind him where he couldn't see her. The Dora Milaje eventually decided to call Dakarai to drive the man behind the shuttle they had.
The plane they arrived at was not fancy. When Steve questioned why they were not using a quinjet, Okoye, head guard of the Dora Milaje scoffed.
"Not my business. I was ordered to take you here where a plane would be waiting. That's a question for your government." She said with an annoyed look.
Steve only got on the small plane when Agent Rodriguez threatened to leave him behind if they did not get on in the next five minutes. Missing the plane meant they had broken the Accords they signed.
It was a small commercial plane with only 10 rows of seats with two seats on each side of the plane. Wanda took the first row by herself with Steve and Sam behind her. Clint and Natasha took the row across from Wanda.
Scott got on and moved to the very back of the plane ignoring the scowls of the other rogues. He ignored Steve's order to move forward and flipped the man off when he started berating him.
Agent Rodriguez ordered them to sit so the plane could take off before taking a seat in the isle across from Scott. It was clear that the agent did not like the rogues. Only Natasha's reassurances kept Steve from confronting the man.
The trip had been alright even if it was nowhere near as comfy as the Quinjet. Steve was sure Tony Stark was the cause of them being forced into this cramp place.
"Attention passengers, we will be landing in 10 minutes. Please PUT YOUR SEATS in the upright position and prepare for landing. The captain has put the fasten seat belt sign on. Please REMAIN in your seats until the plane has stopped moving and the sign has been TURNED OFF." The flight attendant said with a glare at the rouges.
Steve sighed. He didn't understand why people were being unfair to him and the others. Yes, he had complained about the flight attendant not giving them a proper meal instead of the small bag of peanuts and pretzels, but a man needed a proper meal. Wanda had also gotten upset that her favorite soda was not on the flight resulting in the ice water in the plastic pitcher to explode on the woman but really the staff could use more training. The woman should not have scolded Wanda for dumping her trash onto the floor. It was the woman's job to clean the plane. Wanda should not be responsible for cleaning up after herself. She had a lot going on. The last straw for the Flight Attendant was Clint yelling and cussing at her for refusing to give him alcohol. It was a little much, but she shouldn't have lied and said the policy for this airline was against selling alcohol during a flight.
The woman had stormed off to Agent Rodriguez refusing to serve them anything else and making the Agent get up to, in her words, deal with them.
The man was not happy. He stormed up and yelled at them to shut up and remain in their seats until the plane landed. Scott and Agent Rodriguez were the only two the woman would speak to for the rest of the flight.
The plane touched down and stopped. The rogues got off and the flight attendant refused to speak to them. Steve couldn't help but frown as she wished Scott and Agent Rodriguez a great afternoon.
Outside a military truck was waiting.
"A KrAz-6322 truck?" Sam said in confusion.
Steve turned to Agent Rodriguez in confusion, "What is going on?"
The man scoffed. "It means you are no longer my problem."
He stormed off to a pair of soldiers standing by the end. They spoke for a few minutes with the man signing some paperwork. The two soldiers frowned at whatever Agent Rodriguez said glancing at the rogues.
Agent Rodriguez shook both their hands before he turned and walked to a blue jeep with a woman inside. She jumped out running to the man and kissed him. They quickly got in the jeep driving away.
The rogues looked confused at what to do next.
One of the soldiers walked over to them with a frown.
"My name is Colonel Jasper Jones. I will take you to the new Avengers base camp for debriefing. Please get into the truck so we can move out." The man said with a harsh look.
The others looked at Steve in confusion while Scott moved to the back of the truck shaking the hand of the soldier standing there.
"I think there is some confusion. We need to go to the Avengers Compound or the Avengers tower. If you could drop us there, Tony will handle everything else." Steve said with a forced smile.
Colonel Jones huffed. "I was warned by Agent Rodriguez you would be trouble, Private Rodgers. I have strict orders. If you refuse to comply I will have the MPs take you into custody. Do you understand?"
Steve tensed in anger. "It's Captain."
The man took a step forward and got in Steve's face.
"Maybe your forgetting, PRIVATE, but you never graduated from the military bootcamp. You would not have even made it through bootcamp before you became a super soldier. Mr. Wilson has a higher rank than you as a lieutenant General. You may have been given the title of Captain America when you wear your uniform but out of it you are still Private Rogers. The man that a scientist had to push to be allowed to go to bootcamp to begin with even though he had been rejected by military doctors over five times for being medically compromised. I will not allow you to dishonor those who EARNED that title just because a dead scientist decided to give you that name." Colonel Jones said in anger.
Steve's face paled at the man's words before his hands clinched in anger. He took a deep breath trying to control his temper.
Colonel Jones stepped back and glared at the others. "Either get in the truck or I will let the police and the Soviet Council know you all refused to follow the orders in your signed documents."
The man stormed off to the back of the truck where Scott was still talking to the other soldier. The rouges watched as Scott shook Colonel Jones's hand and the man smiled at Scott.
Natasha sighed before moving to the truck.
"Natasha?" Sam said in confusion.
The woman glared at them. "We have no choice. If we screw this up, it will be the end of all of us."
The others shared a look before moving to the back of the truck. They had no idea what was coming next.
