Chapter 2

Megan led the group out of the room and down the hallway to the back of the building. Behind the compound were several other buildings.

"These buildings were added two years ago right after the civil war. The first one on the left is where Avengers C are housed. The resident hall is called The Shire from the book The Hobbit and the book series The Lord of the Rings."

"What's with the different color?" Scott asked confused.

Megan smiled. "The children complained that everything was dull and filled with stuff for adults. Mr. Stark took their complaints seriously and had the whole building remodeled by the best child experts, counselors and even some of the children. The only thing it lacks is a fully working kitchen on each floor. There are 2 professional nannies on each floor as well as two counselors on each floor to take care of the children."

"You have children imprisoned here? I told you all the accords were evil. It's kidnapping children to make weapons. We must save them." Steve said furiously.

Wanda's hands started going red. Megan took a step back in fear. She quickly pushed a button on her wrist band and backed up.

Sam reached out and grabbed them both by the arm. "Will you two chill out? We don't know what is going on here."

"You are correct Mr. Wilson. You do not understand what is going on here. If you use your gift on Miss Stone you will be expelled from the program and shipped back to your home country. Private Rogers, quit egging her on." A voice said.

The group turned to see a man floating in the air. His cloak floated around him. A black sphere circled behind him showing a library.

Steve frowned before nodding. Wanda huffed and her magic disappeared.

The man glared at them before turning to the woman. "Are you all right Miss. Stone?"

Megan nodded her head and gulped. "Yes. Thank you, Dr. Strange."

The man nodded his head. "If you need any more help or feel you are in danger, please let me know. I should not have to say this to a bunch of adults but behave and act your age."

Dr. Strange turned and disappeared into the library with the portal disappearing.

Sam turned to Megan. "I apologize Miss. Stone. Can you please explain further about this?"

Megan snarled. "It is a program to help those who have gifts that can become dangerous without training. Some of these children are super geniuses whose talent is being wasted in the public school system. These children are not active members because of their age. It's mostly targeted at children between the ages of 12 and 18 but we do have some with magical gifts who we were asked to bring here who are under that age. It is a boarding school for gifted kids and their parents are very aware of what goes on in these children's lives. The parents only must pay for the kids' personal items. The parents come for family days once a month on a private jet paid for by Tony Stark. They also have devices to speak with their children outside of school times and training times. They are not abused or forced into dangerous situations. We teach them how to use their gifts wisely. At 18, they have many choices to make. Those with powers have the choice to either join Avengers A, join Avengers B, or become a civilian with the understanding they are not allowed to use their gifts to hurt anyone. Those who are super geniuses have the options of a career in the avenger institute as being weapons designer, joining SI as a scientist or any other career they would like to pursue or leaving as civilians. Those who go to school will receive scholarships to their choice of school paid for by Stark SI. They are not prisoners here and I resent the implication."

Steve huffed and crossed his arms. "Sure. I guess that's where Wanda's dorm is. She needs to be with kids her age."

Megan stared at the man like he was crazy. "Absolutely Not. Miss. Maximoff is in The Matrix Dormitory with the other adults in the Avenger program."

Clint snarled at Megan. "The kid deserves to be with other kids. Change her now!"

Megan grinded her teeth. "No, I will not. Miss. Maximoff is over the age of 18. She is not a child and will live with adults in the Matrix Door. I will not coddle her because of her circumstances. She is an adult and will be treated like an adult. Follow me now."

Megan pulled out her phone and started tapping on it as she walked. She led the group to a grey building with the name The Matrix in white letters over the door and swiped her card on the card reader. She led the group into the main area.

The group gathered around the woman as she finished typing on her phone. Megan glanced up at them with a frown.

"Inside your folder you will find the layout of the building. The 1st floor has a main lounge area and the mailboxes on the left and on the right is a gym for personal use. Down the hallway behind me is the laundry room and the pool. Any package bigger than the mailbox can be picked up at the security office. A note will be placed in your mailbox telling you to see security for the item. Floors 2nd through 6th are the dorms. You will see in your folder a note with your room on it. For example, Miss. Romanoff's number is F2-105 meaning Floor 2 room 105. You have …" Megan said quickly.

"Wait a minute? My rooms on a different floor than Nat's." Clint said in anger.

The others looked at theirs and everyone started complaining since it seemed they were dispersed on different levels.

Megan took a deep breath. She was not getting paid enough.

"ENOUGH." She screamed in anger.

They stared at her in shock and anger. She rubbed her head before looking at them.

"You are divided depending on your gifts. Mrs. Romanoff, Mr. Barton, Mr. Wilson, and Mr. Lang are considered non-magical, so they are placed on floors 2 and 3. Those floors also host those with mutant abilities that are not a danger to those round them. Floor 4 is for those with mutant abilities that could be a danger to those around them. Floor 5 is for those like Private Rodgers who need strong industrial materials for their rooms. Miss. Maximoff is highly magical. Those with Magic are placed on floor 6 to give them access to the roof for meditation purposes. The rooms there help with controlling magical gifts." Megan said with a forced smile.

"We are a team. We will remain together and there is nothing you can do to stop us." Steve snarled.

Megan's face went red. "Let me make something clear to you right now. You have no power here. You are not a leader here. If you fail out of this, Rogers, you will go to jail. It might not even be here in the USA. There are several countries who want your head on a platter as well as Maximoff's. If you cannot follow the rules you agreed to on the accords you all signed, you will be handed over for prosecution. There are hundreds of former agents from shield who would love to get their hands on you and Romanoff for that data dump you did. Good agents who were not part of Hydra died and those who cared for them would love to show you their displeasure on you. Germany would love to put your whole team in a cell and throw away the key. There are some in the American government who felt it was a waste to get you and your team here. The government is watching all of you and if you step a toe out of line it's over for you and your team. The American government will hand you over to the world and let them have at you washing their hands of all of you. They had to offer double the normal pay rate just to get anyone to agree to be your liaison and work with you. Do not test me."

Steve's eyes widened in fear and the rest of the team stared in shock.

The woman glared at the man as his face lost color. "Now use the rest of the day to unpack and acclimate to the new surroundings. Of the two buildings further back, only one should be important to you. The one on the right is the Tatouine dorms. That is for people like me who help run this place. The other is Pumping Iron gym and training center. Tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. I want all of you to meet me in the conference room we met at today for some final instructions as well as working on and submitting any paperwork you need to submit. Dinner is at 5. In your folders is a calendar that shows what the menu for the main line and the grill is. Good night." Megan said with a huff and quickly left.

Sam and the others stood in shock. Steve looked down licking his lips. Everything was different and he did not like it. Scott glanced at the rogues before grabbing his bag and heading to the lift. The others quickly followed. Scott quickly hit all the lift numbers and the rogues split up to find their rooms and unpack. It was going to be a long night.

ELSEWHERE

Carol Davis, Rodney Rhodes, Pepper Potts, and Tony Stark were sitting on a couch in Stark Towers. It had been a great day for them as they were able to convince Charles Xavier to work with them on the accords to include mutants. It was one step closer to making the world a better place for all people.

"Sir, you have a video call coming in. It's Miss. Stone." Friday said.

Tony frowned. "Let the call go through."

The screen flickered and the face of Megan Stone came on.

"What the hell have you all convinced me to do? I have never met the most idiotic people in my life. They don't need a representative. They need a miracle worker to get anything in their thick heads." Megan snarled in anger.

Tony chuckled. "I take it the rogues are there?"

Megan glared at Tony. If looks could kill, Tony would be dead.

"Friday, order a case of dr. peppers and a case of Ben & Jerry's chocolate therapy ice cream to be sent to Megan at the compound." Tony said with a smile.

Megan's mouth twitched. "Well, I guess that takes most of the sting from dealing with them out."

The woman suddenly frowned. "Captain Davis, Captain Rhodes. You should be warned now that they may cause issues for Tony if he comes here and for the children in the boarding school. I also had to contact Dr. Strange. They were VERY upset about the children here."

Tony sat up in fear. "Are you ok? Did she get you?"

Megan licked her lips. "I'm fine. Dr. Strange got there in time but it was scary. The way that Barton and Rodgers treat her is crazy. They coddled her every time I corrected or disagreed with her. I am honestly worried about her being here."

Tony rubbed his face with his hand. "Friday, order a steak, backed potato and salad for Megan from the best restaurant to be delivered at 5:30 my treat. She can let you know her preferences for everything."

Megan went pink. "Mr. Stark, you don't have to do that. I knew it would be difficult. I just didn't realize how difficult."

Tony smiled and picked up his water. "I know I don't have to. I want to. Just say thank you and tell Friday your order."

Megan's face went red as she told Friday her order preferences before thanking Tony.

"So, what about the rogues?" Megan asked in concern.

Rodney sighed. "Thank you for letting us know, Miss. Stone. We will take precautions for what comes next. You're meeting them tomorrow morning, correct?"

"Yes sir. They have paperwork and other important documents. I don't trust them to do it without someone there making them. Just going through the new policies and rules was a fight." Megan said with a sigh.

"I will have Loki keep an eye on you during your meeting in case something goes wrong." Rodney said.

Megan whimpered. "Can't Doctor Strange do it? Loki always teases me and does stuff to make me blush. Last time I worked with him when we were supposed to be working with the teens though the obstacle course he deliberately scared me where I tripped, and he had to catch me before I fell. He then asked if I fell from heaven because I was as beautiful as a mortal angel in artwork. It was embarrassing. The teens tease me every time they see me. Peter and Harley call me angel now because of him."

Rodney smirked. "Dr. Strange is busy. I will tell him to behave."

Megan placed her head in her hands. "Like that will help. Ok. See ya'll tomorrow."

The call ended and the four people looked at each other and laughed.

"She gets too worked up over him. If she ignored him, Loki would get bored and leave her alone." Carol said with a smile.

Tony snorted. "No, he would just try harder. She has a wild imagination, and she gives him ideas for tricks he can do with his fighting style with magic. Megan things out of the box and can come up with ideas that our scientists can perfect. I think they would be best friends and I'm sure it will happen eventually."

Pepper smirked. "You know what they say about boys who tease girls like how Loki teases Megan?"

Carol stared in shock. Tony and Rodney stared at the woman in confusion.

"NO way. You must be reading too much into it, pep." Tony said with a look on his face.

"What are you two talking about?" Rodney asked confused.

Pepper smirked, "Boys tease girls when they like them and want their attention. You will see I'm right, Carol. It's only a matter of time."

Rodney shook his head while Tony stared in shock.

"About the rogues, how much you want to bet they try and push her to contact Tony for them tomorrow at breakfast?" Rodney said with a smile.

Pepper picked up her glass. "That's a fool bet."

Carol laughed. "Surely they are not that stupid. I bet it will be the end of their meeting tomorrow."

Tony snorted, "Wrong. It will be at dinner tonight."

The three shook hands and Pepper shook her head. "You are all crazy. They are trouble and will drive Megan crazy."

Carol laughed. "We'll see. She's stronger than she looks."

Cafeteria

Megan was sitting there eating her steak, potato, and salad. Tony Stark never went cheap, and this was the best steak she had ever tasted. She will have some left over for lunch tomorrow.

"Miss. Stone, can I have a word?" Steve asked with a smile.

Megan looked up from her steak. "If it has anything to do with Tony Stark, walk away now!"

Behind him stood Wanda, Clint, and Sam. The three were glaring at Megan. Across the room, Megan could see Natasha glaring at the group with Scott keeping his head down as he ate his food.

Steve tensed. "I really need to speak with Tony. The rules you have given are ridiculous. Wanda is unhappy with her room. We all are. They are too small. We need bigger rooms. I feel it would be better for us to move into Avenger tower. We have our own floors there. Contact Tony and arrange it."

Megan looked at him and burst out laughing. "You are joking right? There is no Avenger Tower. There never was. The Tower is now Stark Tower like it was before the Avengers. Mr. Stark does not have to provide you with rooms as you are all adults who are not related to Mr. Stark. You are not his responsibility. He is not a sugar daddy, and you are not his sugar babies. He does not and should not pay for anything for you all. Grow up and accept the new reality you live in where adults like you have to pay for their own things. Tony Stark is done paying for your lifestyle while you mooch off his generosity."

Steve's teeth grinded together. "Tony owes us."

Megan rose and placed her hands on the table. "Tony owes you nothing, Rodgers. I will not contact Mr. Stark and waste his time on this ridiculous request. The rooms you got are the same size as a single dorm at a college. If you don't like the dorms, you can get your own home outside the compound, but you will be responsible for everything which includes rent. I am eating. I will not discuss anything else with you until tomorrow at 8:00. I suggest you all read the information in your folders before the meeting. GOOD NIGHT, Rodgers."

The woman sat down and cut up her steak taking a bite refusing to acknowledge the man as he kept trying to get her to talk to him.

Steve huffed and stormed over to the table where Scott and Natasha were at. The other three followed upset that their plans were not working.

STARK TOWER

"Mr. Stark, I thought I would let you know an update on the rogues." Friday said.

Tony and Rodney glanced up from where they were looking at a new weapon for the Iron Warrior suit.

"What happened, Friday?" Tony asked concerned.

"It seems Rodgers, Wilson, Maximoff and Barton confronted Miss. Stone about their rooms and demanded to be allowed to move into Stark Towers. Miss. Stone made it clear that she would not contact you about moving into the tower and that you were not a sugar daddy who would pay for their things as if they were sugar babies. They would need to grow up and accept the new reality that they needed to be adults and pay for their own things." Friday said with a smug tone.

Tony and Rodney burst out laughing at what Friday told them. Rodney pulled out his phone and texted Carol with news about the bet as well as what Megan said to the rogues.

"Friday, find out what Miss. Stone's favorite flower and send her a bouquet of them." Tony said with a smirk.

"Already done, sir. Miss. Stone loves tulips." Friday started.

"Very good Friday." Tony turned to this blueprints. He needed to finish this blueprint before he could go meet Pepper for dinner.
