Chapter 3

Megan was typing on her computer an email to some of her contacts. The door opened as the rogues walked in.

"Good morning. Please find the packet with your name on it on the table by the wall and take a seat. I will be with you in one moment." Megan said not looking away from her computer.

A few minutes later, she glanced up to see all of them, but Wanda and Steve had taken a seat.

"Is there a problem?" Megan asked.

Steve frowned. "Wanda is being abused by those on her floor. She needs to be moved closer to me. They forced this collar on her that's blocking her power. It's cruel. Remove it now."

Megan sighed and opened her folder. "I was already made aware of the situation. Miss. Maximoff, a strike has been placed against you for damaging the tv in the lounge on your floor with your powers. Three strikes and you will be rejected from the Avenger program and deported back to Slovakia. Do you understand?"

Clint snarled. "Why is Wanda getting in trouble? Your just being cruel because she is a rogue."

Megan scoffed. She taped a few minutes on her computer and the screen behind her came on. A video showed a lounge area.

Two women were sitting on the couch watching tv and laughing when Wanda walked up. Wanda was seen motioning to the tv. The women obviously said something Wanda did not like. Wanda turned toward the tv and held out her arm. A red light left her hand and hit the tv. The tv exploded. The two women jumped up screaming at Wanda while she screamed back. Dr. Strange appeared and grabbed Wanda before they both disappeared.

Megan turned off the video and looked at the group. "Miss. Maximoff broke several rules. Until she passes level one the collar stays on for her safety and ours. You will also be responsible for replacing the tv. It will come out of your pay, Miss. Maximoff."

Wanda stomped her foot. "It's not fair. I wanted to watch tv and they wouldn't leave."

Megan tilted her head at the woman. "It's called waiting your turn. You should have learned the basics of this in daycare and preschool. It should have been enforced as you moved up the grades in school. I doubt the idea is different in Slovakia as it is in the US. Choosing to ignore a social expectation does not mean you get to destroy something because you are angry. You are 27 years old. You are not 5. Quit stomping your foot like a child and act your age."

Wanda huffed in anger while Steve wrapped an arm around the woman comforting her.

"I'll pay for it." Steve said angrily.

Megan rolled her eyes. "Absolutely not. Miss. Maximoff destroyed it so she will pay for it. Will you two please sit down so we can get started?"

Steve and Wanda moved to the other end of the table and flopped down in chairs.

Megan rubbed her eyes. This was not worth the pay.

"Ok. If you open your folders you will see things such as Health insurance, life insurance, Dental Insurance, Retirement options. This is also your forms for taxes. I have also included a direct deposit form for those of you with bank accounts. Ms. Maximoff and Mrs. Romanoff have the forms for visas. Please go through them and fill out these forms now. Those will be given to human resources. Anything you do not know, leave it blank. HR will speak with you on that." Megan said with a frown as she watched Steve and Wanda whisper to each other as she spoke.

"Is this really necessary?" Steve asked in annoyance.

Megan forced a smile. "Yes. It is. If you don't believe me, the others can verify."

Sam rolled his eyes. "Steve, just fill it out."

20 minutes went by as the rogues filled out the forms.

Megan glanced up and smiled. "Good to see it's all done. If you follow me, I will lead you to the HR department."

An hour went by as the rogues met with human resources going over all their paperwork and explaining everything. The group moved down the hall to a computer room.

"Everyone, please have a seat." Megan said walking toward a computer on a stand.

"Why do we need to be here?" Steve whined.

Megan sighed. "This is part of your human resources training. Earphones are by the computer."

The group sat down and watched as the computer came alive. They spent the next hour completing training in Child Protection, Complaint Handling, Conflict Resolution, Sexual Assault training, Title IX training, and Disability Training.

The entire time either Wanda, Clint or Steve complained.

The training was finally done at noon. Megan led them down to the cafeteria with an order to meet her in the conference room 3 at 1pm.

After lunch, Megan escorted them to the third floor. Getting off the floor, Megan escorted the group to the end where a single door was with the hospital sign on it. The group went in and froze as they saw several smaller offices inside. By each door, a doctor waited.

Steve jerked back in anger.

"I WILL NOT DO THIS. I DON'T NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR. I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS. I TOLD YOU I WAS HEALTHY AND DID NOT NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR." Steve screamed in anger.

Megan snarled and took a deep breath. With a level voice she said, "I don't care what you want. Either go with Dr. Ferdinand and get your health checkup or quit and leave this facility. If you quit then your protection disappears. You will face the consequences of your actions."

"Mr. Rogers, it is just a checkup." Dr. Ferdinand said with a sigh. He had less drama with the children he took care of.

Sam sighed. "Come on Steve. Let's get this over with."

Megan nodded. "Exactly. The sooner you guys get this done, the sooner you can go to the meeting with the three team leaders and then you are done for today."

Steve sighed before stomping into a room with Dr. Ferdinand following him. Megan directed the males to a male doctor while the females to a female doctor. Clint and Wanda huffed and puffed about it, but the others went quietly with who Megan told them to go to.

Megan closed her eyes in frustration. She needed a message after this.

Suddenly she squealed as a pair of hands squeezed the muscle where her shoulders and neck met.

Megan quickly turned looking around. "Loki, where are you? You know I hate when you do that."

The woman jumped and squirmed away when Loki attacked her ribs with his fingers. Giggles poured out as she moved away from where she believed the man to be.

"Sorry, darling. I thought you could use a laugh as those fools have been acting like children." Loki said with a smirk.

The man appeared behind the woman and placed his hands on her shoulders. He started massaging her shoulders trying to get rid of some of the tension in her back.

Yelling could be heard in three of the rooms. Loki and Megan sighed.

"Good luck love." Loki said before disappearing.

A few threats and arguments, the rogues were finally done with their physicals. It was now 3:15pm.

Megan led the group downstairs and knocked at the conference room 3 door.

"Enter." A voice said.

Megan opened the door with a forced smile. "Good afternoon, so sorry for the wait. We had some issues with the doctor."

Captain Davis sat at the end with Dr. Strange to the left and Captain Rhodes to the right.

"It's fine, Miss. Stone." Captain Davis said. "Please have a seat."

Megan took a seat beside Captain Rhodes with Scott Lang sitting by Megan. Steve took a seat at the end of the table, with Wanda on the left and Sam on the right. Natasha sat between Scott and Sam while Clint took the seat beside Wanda.

"Rodney, it's good to see you. Miss. Stone is refusing to contact Tony. I feel she is not doing her job correctly and should be fired." Steve said with a vindictive smirk at Megan.

Before Rodney could say anything, Scott spoke up.

"The only one causing problems are you, Wanda, and Clint. She has made it clear that Tony Stark would not help us. If you guys would just follow what Miss. Stone would say, we would have an easier time. We are in a lot of trouble right now. We need to keep our mouth shuts and do whatever we are told before we end up in bigger trouble."

"Good advice, Mr. Lang." Captain Carol said with a smile. "We are going to go over some things you should be aware of before we move forward. For the first part it involves Loki."

"THAT BASTARD DESERVES TO DIE." Clint screamed.

"That's enough, Barton. Sit down." Captain Rhodes said.

"As I was saying, Loki is part of the Avengers Initiative Program. He has gone through the same requirements you are required to and proven himself. One of the reasons he was allowed to participate is it was confirmed that he was being controlled by another alien." Captain Carol said.

"Loki used mind control on Clint and other agents. He can't be trusted." Steve said in anger.

Dr. Strange tilted his head. "So just to clarify, you feel anyone who uses mind control on another can't be trusted?"

Steve glared at the men. "Exactly."

Dr. Strange turned to look the others in the eyes. "And the rest of you agree?"

Cling and Sam quickly agreed while Scott stared at the three in shock and Natasha lowered her head into her hands. Wanda glared at the man in anger. The two women knew exactly where this line of questions was going.

"I see," Dr. Strange said, "Than why do you trust Wanda Maximoff who deliberately used mind control on all your team and caused the hulk to go on a rampage killing or hurting hundreds."

"Wanda is a kid. You can't hold it against her." Steve yelled rising to his feet.

"How dare you compare them." Clint snarled standing up and slamming his hands on the table.

"They're so mean to me. It's Tony Stark's fault. He turned them against me." Wanda said crying.

"ENOUGH." Captain Davis yelled standing up. "Sit down and shut up."

Sam reached over and grabbed Steve's arm pulling him down. "Calm down."

Natasha glared at Clint. "Control yourself."

The three finally settled down.

"Wanda was 26 when the avengers encountered her. She is not a child, and you need to quit treating her like that. She did the same thing Loki did no matter how you look at it." Captain Davis said.

Captain Rhodes sighed. "Let me make this clear. He is part of the team. He has proved he can be trusted. Attacking him is an immediate expulsion from the Avenger Program. Attacking anyone outside of training will result in immediate expulsion. If you are expelled from the program, you will be charged for your crimes. Is that clear?"

Clint snarled "Crystal."

"Good. I'm glad that's settled." Captain Davis said with a smile. "Tomorrow you will go for your psych evaluations. What time are the evaluations, Miss. Stone?"

Megan glanced at her paper. "Miss. Maximoff Mr. Rogers, and Mr. Wilson will be at 8:00. Mr. Barton, Mr. Lang, and Mrs. Romanoff will be at 1:00. Our 3 on site counselors as well as the 6 visiting counselors will be prepared to listen and work with each other for evaluation."

Clint started grumbling but a kick by Natasha stopped him from saying anything.

"Good. What about training times?" Captain Rhodes asked.

Megan moved to another sheet. "At 8am Mr. Barton will be in Gym 1, Mr. Lang in Gym 2, and Mrs. Romanoff in Gym 3. At 1pm Mr. Rodgers will be in Gym 1, Mr. Wilson in Gym 2, and Miss. Maximoff in Gym 3."

"We're not training with each other?" Sam asked in shock.

"Very good. For the first training no. We need to see what your physical strengths are. Later maybe. I believe that is everything we need to cover. It seems like Miss. Stone has gotten everything else done." Captain Davis said.

"What about Wanda?" Steve said with a frown.

Captain Davis frowned. "What about Wanda?"

Clint snarled, "She has that stupid collar on. It needs to come off now. That bastard forced it on her."

Dr. Strange frowned. "I did what was appropriate. She destroyed a tv in anger. It is a deliberate violation of the rules. Since all of you keep harping that she has no control over her powers, this will protect everyone until she is approved for level two where she will train with those who do have control over their powers. Hopefully she will be able to control it soon."

"That's not fair." Wanda whined.

Captain Rhodes laughed. "It is very fair. That tv you destroyed cost $1000 dollars. The people on that floor do not have a tv now because of you. You are not a child. Steve may have let you get away with not taking responsibility for your actions, but we will not. You are responsible so you will pay for the replacement. It will an exact replica and it will come out of your pay."

Wanda burst into tears. Clint pulled the girl to him.

"What the hell? Buy a cheaper tv. That's not fair." Clint demanded.

Captain Davis frowned. "So, we should punish those on that floor who do follow because she threw a hissy fit? She made a choice, and this is the consequence. It's time you all stopped babying her. This conversation is done."

Captain Davis, Captain Rhodes, and Dr. Strange rose and left the room. Megan had her head in her hands.

Clint and Steve started yelling at Megan over what had just happened. They screamed and called her names demanding she fix this.

Megan stood and faced the group. "I am done. You have your times for tomorrow. Be there or you will get a strike against you. Three strike and you will be kicked out of the Avenger program. Either get in line with the program or get out. I do not have time to deal with this drama."

The woman walked to the door when Steve grabbed her arm squeezing it. "We are not done talking."

Megan cried out in pain as a sickening crack was heard. Steve jerked away as if he had been shocked. Megan clutched her arm as it throbbed in pain. She took a step back as Steve moved a step toward her.

"You don't get to order me around. I am through with you people." Megan spat at them in anger.

Megan walked out the door and slammed the door shut. She had a headache and really needed to lie down. Her wrist was pounding so bad that it made tears fall down her face.

"Oh love. Come here." Loki appeared.

Loki wrapped an arm around the woman and used his magic to move them to the third floor. Dr. Ferdinand froze when the two appeared.

"Loki, Megan. Is everything ok?" he asked with a frown seeing the tears that fell down Megan's face.

"An incident has occurred. Can you look at Megan's wrist?" Loki said with a frown.

"Of course. Come in." Dr. Ferdinand said with a frown.

Two hours later, Megan had a blue cast around her wrist. Rodgers had broken a bone in her wrist. Dr. Ferdinand said it was lucky Rodgers let go when he did, or Megan would have been in worse shape.

He gave the woman some pain meds with instructions to go to bed as soon as she got to her dorm. He would file a report tonight and send it to the leaders of the teams.

Loki wrapped his arms around Megan, and they vanished from the room.

Megan glanced around when Loki stepped back, "How do you know where my room is?"

"I'm a god darling. I know everything." Loki said with a smile while looking at her wrist. "Get into your sleep wear and take your pain pills. I will be back." Loki said.

Megan quickly changed into sleep shorts and a sleep shirt. She took her meds and laid down on the bed. A few minutes later, Loki reappeared behind the woman. He pulled her against him and laid a cool rag over her forehead.

The woman flinched at the cold but slowly adjusted to it. She glanced back at him to see him in a pair of green sleep pants with a sleeveless white shirt. She had never seen him dressed down like this.

"Relax darling, you deserve a chance to relax. Close your eyes." Loki said with a smile.

Megan closed her eyes when suddenly she felt a breeze brush her cheeks. She opened her eyes to look around and saw she was at a beach. It was light golden sand, and the water was so clear she could see the floor of ocean. The weather was a perfect temperature, and the cool salty breeze flowed tickling her nose. Behind her were hills of bright green fields. It was the most beautiful place she had ever seen.

"What is this place?" Megan asked staring in wonder.

"My home. Let me show you my world." Loki said holding out his hand.

Megan placed her hand in his.

In the room, Loki smiled as a smile crossed over Megan's face. Her eyes were closed, and her breathing slowed down as she fell deeper under his magic and sleep.

"You deserve better than this. I would give you the world if I could, my queen." Loki said running a finger down the woman's face.

He laid down and closed his eyes disappearing into the magic world he created for Megan. He would show her his world and maybe she would show him hers.

Across several places in the base and one place in a tower, Friday was informing the others of what occurred after the Team leaders left the room as well as sending them the doctor's report about Megan's injury.

The thought on everyone's' minds was that the rogues were going to pay for this.
