Chapter 5

Megan sat there rocking her beautiful baby girl. She had brown hair like her mother, but her eyes were all her father's.

It had been six years since Megan had worked as a liaison for the Avengers program. The battle between the alien, Thanos, and the Avengers was an epic fight. They managed to beat him and destroy his military.

Since the world was notified about the danger, people were able to prepare and there was less damage to homes and other properties than was expected. No one died and, only those stupid enough to try and get videos of the monsters were hurt.

Megan and Loki had in Midgard speech, tied the knot, four years ago. Tony Stark gifted them a home hidden away in a forested area with a privacy fence close to the compound but far enough for them to enjoy their lives in their own home.

"Is she finally asleep?" Loki asked.

Megan looked up and smiled at seeing Loki carrying their 4-year-old twin sons.

Bjorn was her mischievous child who liked to play tricks and pranks. Loki helped with giving him ideas while Megan reminded him that if the person you target doesn't laugh at it then it was not a prank. It was bullying. Bjorn swore to both his parents he would never bully someone. He became a champion for those bullied and the best friend to any scared child.

Erik was her brilliant child. The boy was so smart. He had tried to build his own toy car a few weeks ago. It almost burned down the garage but it was a work in progress. Uncle Tony was his favorite uncle as the man promised to help him build the car in his workshop. Pepper and Megan had to make him swear to not go overboard on the child. He was the nicest kid around who wanted to be everyone's best friend. The only issue they had right now was that he decided he would marry Morgan Stark when the girl was older. Pepper thought it was hilarious while Tony was not sure if he was ready for a boy to decide if they wanted to marry his sweet four-year-old daughter. Time would tell if Erik would stay committed to the little girl.

Both boys would be starting school next year at the Phoenix Academy for the gifted on the new school built across from the base. A daycare and a primary school were added for kids as more magical and mutant children showed up. The Xavier School for gifted youngsters and the Phoenix School became a working team to train young people to use gifts well. The old boarding school was turned into new training rooms as there were so many wanting to be part of the Avengers' program.

A new town was created 10 miles away from the base and the school where those with families could live peacefully. The town continued to grow as more people with gifts and those who worked in the Avenger program married creating families.

"Are you daydreaming darling?" Loki asked with a smile.

Megan stood up and walked over to her husband. "I just can't believe how lucky we have been to be able to have survived everything we did and have these amazing kids. The boys will start school next year and little Frigga will start in two years. How did we get so lucky?"

Loki smirked, "I will put the boys to bed and see you in our room."

Megan smiled. "Ok."

She laid Frigga down in her cot and slipped out of the room.

Waiting for Loki, Megan picked up a picture.

In the picture it showed their wedding day with friends and family. Natasha in her red dress on the arm of Agent Zacharia Wisely. They had adopted a set of twins from Russia and Natasha was loving being a stay-at-home mom. The woman had accepted moving to Avengers team B after a year in their marriage to start a family. Scott and Hope smiling big with Cassie standing there in her blue flower girl dress. Scott and Hope were part of the Avengers A team. Beside them was Maggie and her husband, Jim Paxton. Maggie owned her own restaurant in the town by the base and Jim was chief of police for the town. Cassie attended Phoenix Academy with the hope of being a superhero one day like her dad and stepmom. Sam smirking with his arm around a mutant woman, Sahirah. She was a true gift during Megan's first pregnancy as she was an empathy. She eased the worst of the morning sickness. They were expecting their first kid. Sahirah and Sam were tag team counselors who worked with Avengers A group as well as any who had suffered trauma while doing a mission. Sam happily moved to Avengers B team to do the job he loved. Tony and Pepper smiling while Rodney smirked at the camera. Tony and Pepper still ran Stark Industry while Rodney retired from the military and took over as director of the Avengers Compound. Even the strict Dr. Strange was there.

Megan's heart sank as she thought about the ones who were not there.

"Remembering the past?" Loki said as he slithered in bed by his wife.

Megan smiled. "Yes, but I like the future better."

Loki stared puzzled at her. "What are you hiding, Darling?"

Megan smiled and reached under the bed pulling out a white box. Loki opened it only to stare in shock. He turned his eyes to his wife.

"Really?" he asked scared of the answer.

Megan smiled. "Really papa. He or She should be here in about 6 months."

Loki's eyes lit up. He pulled his wife into a kiss and then kissed her belly.

"You have made me the most blessed man in the universe." Loki said with tears of joy in his eyes.

Megan ran a hand down his face. "Wrong. I'm the most blessed in the universe.

They clicked out the lights and started celebrating the joy of a new family member into their lives.

Fate of the rest of the rouges

Wanda did not pass the psychic evaluation. It was deemed she was a danger to everyone around her. The recommendation was she be treated at a very nice facility and, in 6 months, the psychologists who worked with her would check to see if she could join the Avengers. At the facility, she would have her own home and freedom to move about as long as she reported for her assigned therapy sessions. Wanda did not like it and flipped. She tried to physically kill the lead psychologist. She was arrested and, after Charles Xavier read her mind, it was decided her powers were too dangerous to be allowed to keep nor was she a good fit to be an avenger. Her hatred for Stark and the damage from the mind stone had warped her mind completely to the point she looked at people as puppets to be moved at her desire and destroyed if they displeased her. Professor Xavier and Dr. Strange locked her gift away forever. The woman was sent back to Slovakia where she was sent to jail for her crimes for 25 years. Even after getting out, the woman was dangerous. She was later executed when she tried to kill the leader of the country for deciding to build an avenger compound in Slovakia.

Clint failed to pass the psych evaluation but what led to him being kicked out was what came after Laura Barton showed up with divorce papers. The man begged her to reconsider but she refused. He abandoned their family. His kids were also angry with him. The letters they sent crushed the man. Clint started blaming Tony Stark for what happened. He attacked and killed a night guard when the man refused to give him a car as it was 3 in the morning. He broke into stark tower to kill Tony. Unfortunately for him, King T'Challa, his sister and the royal guards were there. The royal guards captured him before he could hurt Tony. Clint Barton was sentenced to 80 years in jail with no possibility of parole for his crimes before he signed the accords, the murder of the guard and the attempted murder of Tony Stark. All his children became students of the Phoenix Academy and Lauren became part of the PR team for the Avengers. Lila would become the new Hawkeye with Cooper becoming the head scientist in Stark SI. Nathanial became a mechanic who worked on the airplanes and vehicles for the compound. The man would be the leading inventor of the hovercar that Howard Stark failed to build. By the year 2050, Nathanial Barton was a household name right up there with Morgan Stark, Harley Keener and Peter Parker became known as the greatest inventors that the world had ever seen rivaling Tony Stark. Clint lost it when the news showed pictures of Lila marrying Harley Keener. The picture showed their wedding picture with Tony Stark in the background. Clint became furious and started screaming at the tv grabbing things to chunk at the tv. It caused other prisoners to yell at him. Clint started a fight with one of the strongest men in the prison when Clint snatched his book and chunked it at the tv. The fight was terrible as more prisoners started fighting with each other and in the end, someone snuck behind Clint stabbing him with a shank. The man died quickly from blood loss before the guards could stop the fight. No one mourned the loss of Clint Barton.

James Bucky Barnes came to the US after being cleared by Wakanda. He made a deal with the government to be allowed to be part of the Avengers B team and only for A ranked missions. Tony helped him find and purchase a home deep in the woods away from the world. The man picked up wood carving and became a famous wood artist who went under the name James Buck. No one ever saw who carved the amazing art pieces as Tony hired a private team who were sworn to secrecy through paperwork as well as paid extremely well to sell the pieces as well as helping James get whatever he needed so the man never had to leave his home. James did make appearances once a year to speak to the academy students about World War II, but he had no desire for family. He wanted peace by himself with his woodcarvings and his books. He had enough of war and fighting. James slipped away peacefully in his sleep having finally found peace after everything he went through.

Steve Rogers was dropped from the Avengers program when he tried to speak to the media without the Avengers PR team. It caused a lot of issues as he tried to defend himself and his team while blaming Tony, Rodney, the other avengers and even Megan for the trouble he suffered. Because of whom he was, Steve only spent 15 years in jail. When he got out, he found it was difficult to find work as he had no skills for this time period. Bucky had refused Steve's friendship when Steve had tried to get Bucky to stage a coup over the Avenger's team. It was Steve's luck that no one ever found out about that. Eventually he was able to find work in construction, but it was a low paying job that barely covered his bills. The man had to turn to boxing in the mutant MMA fighting ring to help pay bills. He was good and won enough to stay on the books, but he never became famous with the American people like James "The Chameleon" Rodriguez or Katie "Two Strike hitter" Thomas. People forgot about Steve Rogers as new superheroes took the place of the original Avengers team. Steve could only stare at the newspaper in sadness as the headline spoke of the new avengers' team with Spiderman and the new Iron Man, a young man named Harley, leading their teams to victory defeating criminals on earth and those that came from outer space. Steve Rogers died alone and miserable. His obituary was a small piece created by his boss as there was no one to mourn the man who fell from grace.
