Cherry Blossoms And Sais

"Dude, you've got to see this place," Mikey said as he guided his older brother, Raph, through the sewers.

"Another pizza place?" The red-masked turtle asked.

"No, dude. A place for you and your lady," the orange-masked turtle said seriously. "I know your guys' anniversary is coming up and I was hunting for a good place for you guys."

"You were?" Raph asked in surprise.

"Yeah," his brother said. "After all, she's going to be my sister-in-law and I know how much you love her. Plus, she's a cool girl like April."

The two turtles continued a ways down the path before Mikey went up, pushing up a manhole cover and motioning his brother to follow. Curious, Raph did and the two were soon hiding in the shadows, looking over at a Japanese steakhouse that had cherry blossom trees blooming around it. There were even private tables that had cherry blossom trees and the waiters brought the food carts to the door and knocked on them, moving away as the people who paid for the private tables took the food inside the enclosure and cooked it on the grill in front of them, the smell of the food reaching the two brothers and Raph breathed in the wonderful smell. "That does smell delicious," he said. "Kairi would love this place."

Mikey grinned. "I had a feeling you'd say that," he said. "You should bring Kairi here for your guys' anniversary."

"But...it's expensive," Raph protested. "I'm not saying Kairi doesn't deserve a fine meal, but...it's not fair to make her pay for it."

"Don't worry, bro. I got your back," his brother said.

"What do you mean?"

"You'll see."

When they returned from patrol, Mikey sought out April, who smiled at him. "What's up, Mikey?" She asked her boyfriend.

"I need a really big favor," he said. "It's for Raph and Kairi."

She looked curious before realization dawned on her. "It's their anniversary coming up," she said.

"Yeah," Mikey said. "There's that Japanese steakhouse with the cherry blossoms that I took Raph to see and he liked it and we both know Kairi would love it."

"The one with the private tables with the trees, right?" April asked.

"That's the one," her boyfriend said. "The only thing is...it's a bit expensive and Raph doesn't feel right asking Kairi to pay for it for both of them, which I totally get, but he really wants to take her there."

The dark-haired girl fell into thought and pulled up something on her phone, smiling as she saw something. "Well, I think this might work," she said. "There's actually a special for couples celebrating special occasions. If we can get them that, then Raph can take Kairi there for their anniversary."

She then called a couple numbers on her phone. Casey answered a moment later and agreed to contribute to help the couple. "Raph helped me catch some wanted guys last week," he said. "It's the least I can do for him since he didn't want to take any of the reward money. He actually told me to put the reward money to a good cause."

"What good cause did it go too?" April asked.

"It went to the children's hospital," the police officer said.

She smiled and thanked him before calling Vern, who agreed at once. "I'll even get them a cake to be delivered to them," he said. "In fact, let me take care of the bill."

"Casey agreed to contribute too," April said.

"How about you and him help Raph get his girl a nice gift and I'll worry about the restaurant bill?" Vern offered. "It's their anniversary, right?"

"Yes."

"Then let's help him make it a good one for his lady."

Mikey grinned when April told him the news. "I know exactly what you and Casey can help Raph get," he said, pulling out a magazine that April had brought them sometime ago. Carefully turning the pages, he came upon an advertisement for a local jewelry store and it showed a picture of some beautiful pieces of jewelry. "That," Mikey said, pointing to a particular piece.

She looked and instantly nodded. "Definitely," she said, sending a picture to Casey, who at once agreed.

"I know the jeweler there too," he said. "Let me talk with him about having it personalized."

April grinned and looked at her boyfriend. "Operation Anniversary is a go," she said.

"Yes!" He cheered, pulling her into a hug and kiss that she happily returned.

Kairi was in her apartment, humming as she was enjoying a few days off of work. Her phone rang and she answered it, finding it to be April. "Hi, April," she said.

"Hi, Kairi," April said. "I need you to put on your best dress and get ready to go. I'll be there in fifteen minutes."

"My best dress?" Kairi asked.

"Yup. Raph's taking you someplace special tonight."

Kairi at once stood up. "I'll go get ready," she said.

Moments later, she was wearing a shimmering blue dress that flowed gracefully to her ankles and was off the shoulder. She carefully pulled the side parts of her hair into a twist and secured it in the back with a blue hair tie, allowing the rest of her hair to flow behind her head and neck and she secured a blue rose hair clip over the hair tie, making it look like the rose was holding her hair back. She quickly slipped on some blue sandals with thin blue straps that went up her ankle and had a heel that wasn't too thin or too high. She then grabbed a blue clutch that matched her dress and sprayed her arms and neck with some cherry blossom perfume mist. Smiling as she looked in the mirror, she headed out of her apartment, locking it up and going outside, seeing April pull up just as she excited the building.

"Hop in," the dark-haired girl said, smiling. "You're going to surprise your man in that dress."

"I hope so," Kairi giggled as she got in and April took her to the Japanese steakhouse. Her eyes went wide as April gave Kairi's name and the waiter directed her to a private table behind the restaurant that had a cherry blossom tree.

"I understand that your date will be here soon," the waiter said kindly. "He already ordered ahead and I shall bring the food cart right away."

"Thank you," she said as the waiter went in and turned the grill on, heading back out and Kairi sat down, marveling at the tree that was in full bloom. She then saw Raph peek over the wall and he looked around before jumping over and landing silently, smiling at her. She grinned at him. "Hey, Handsome," she said.

"Hey, baby," he said, coming closer and his eyes widened. "Wow. You look amazing."

She giggled. "Thank you," she said. "I wasn't expecting all this."

"Our family and some friends helped out," he said. "I wanted to take you someplace special for our anniversary."

She gasped, remembering that was today. "Oh, Raph," she said, kissing him and he kissed her back. A knock on the door made them break the kiss and Kairi went out to get the food cart to bring it in. "Oh, this looks yummy," she said. "Let's start cooking it."

"Yeah," he said.

They cooked the food and were enjoying it when another knock came at the door. "Pardon the interruption, but there is a special delivery for the happy couple," the waiter said.

Kairi went to see and gasped at seeing a cake that said 'Happy Anniversary' and it was a double-layer cake with blue frosting and red letters. "Thank you," she said to the waiter before turning back to her man, who smiled. "You went all out for me?" She asked.

He nodded. "I wanted to and our friends and family helped me with it," he said before pulling out a box from a hiding place and handing it to her.

"What's this?" She asked curiously.

"Open it," he encouraged.

She did and gasped at seeing a beautiful spiral shell necklace pendant inside attached to a silver chain. "Look at the back of the pendant," he said.

She did and saw a message there.

'To my lovely Kairi, my beautiful cherry blossom'.

"Raph," she breathed out. "It's beautiful."

He smiled. "I wanted you to have something nice for our anniversary," he said. "Mikey spotted it and when he showed me, I knew you'd like it."

She kissed him. "What did I do to get such an amazing guy as my boyfriend?" She asked.

"What did I do to deserve the most beautiful girl in the world as my girlfriend?" He asked.

Giggling, she kissed him again, moaning happily as he gave her a French kiss, lost in the love they shared.
