HEADCANON POST:
"Tails was originally hired by Eggman in Sonic 2 to follow Sonic around and analyse him so he could build a robotic version of Sonic to defeat him. As they both travelled together Tails grew fond of Sonic, who was the first person who didn't see him as a freak. He decided to betray Eggman and send fake info which led to Mecha Sonic having a weak spot. Eggman used part of the info to build Metal Sonic. Tails never talked about this to Sonic"

"MILES!"
Yelled out the Fat doctor and waited for the two tailed fox. "I-im here! What is it?" Miles asked as he flew to Eggman and dropped down. "I want you to join that stupid blue hedgehog. Give me info about him as you analyze him! For I need it for my new creation." Eggman answered and showed the metal version of Sonic.
"This is Metal Sonic!"
The robot version of Sonic, Metal, walked to the kitsune. It looked incomplete, but almost finished.
"You better not fail me, freak."
Miles nodded and quickly got out of the lab. He sometimes wonders why he still needs to help the doctor.

The hedgehog and the kitsune met, with Sonic seeing Miles on top of Tornado's wing.
"Woah! What are you doing there buddy?" Sonic asked and climbed up to the wing of the place to sit beside him.
"S-sorry! I was just checking out this plane! It looked really cool so-" "It's alright!" The hedgehog quickly cut him off, as he looked at the Fox's two tails.
"Nice tails you have! Never seen someone having two tails before, that's cool!"
Mile's ears perked up by the compliment, He looked at the hedgehog with a confused look.
"Y-you dont think it's weird?"
"What? Nah! What can you do with those tails?"
"I can fly when I.. ill just.."
The two tailed fox jumped off from the Tornado's wing and flew up with his tails twisting around, making him fly up like a helicopter.
"Woah! Now that's even cooler! What's your name bud?" Asked Sonic as he looked at Miles with an excited tone. "It's Miles, Miles Prower.." Miles answered and dropped down back to the Tornado's wing.
"How about I call ya Tails instead? Since.. You have two tails!" Sonic said and pointed at his tails. "Yeah sure!" The fox now named Tails happily agreed.
A pack of badniks came in their way, Sonic immediately dropped down off the wing and attacked the badniks.
"Wanna help me fight these badniks? Might need a sidekick to help!" He then continues to attack the badniks. Tails had a true smile on his face, he nodded and flew up with his tails.
A hedgehog with a fox, a weird combination for a Hero and a sidekick. But who cares anyway?

Tails knew stuff about him just in a day, isn't that awesome?! Well.. not for the Hero. He was nervous, he didn't want to betray his only friend who also was the only person who ever cared about him!
He entered the lab and took a deep breath as he faced the Doctor.
"Miles! Do you have it?!" Eggman asked while he prepared his new creation. Tails nodded. trying not to stutter when the conversation between the doctor and the fox starts.

Tails snuck to the lab and looked at the shut down Metal Sonic. He quickly went over to a computer and reprogrammed him. He was stunned first by how good the coding was, but got back to work.
He also changed the wires, trying to make his weak spot.
The kitsune quickly escapes the lab as he hopes all that programming doesn't kill his only friend.

Tails watched Sonic fight off Metal, he was scared at first that the blue blur couldn't defeat it. Luckily Sonic found out about his weak spot, which easily made the hedgehog defeat him!
Metal dropped down to the ground, smoking appearing from him. Tails cheered for him but received a glare from Eggman. The doctor yelled at the hedgehog as always, and left.
"Hey Tails! We should celebrate by getting chili-" Sonic looked back and noticed Tails was gone.

"YOU FREAK! ALL THAT INFO YOU GAVE ME WAS USELESS!" Yelled Eggman and kicked Tails to the wall.
"Fine, if you don't want to help me. I'll program my powerful creation myself and as for you.." He went over to Tails and grabbed him.
"You're out of here, Freak!" Eggman kicked him out the door like a bucket. Tails cried and flew away from him and found Sonic.
The hedgehog quickly tried calming down the fox, and took care of him. Tails didn't tell him the true reason why he was crying, his reason that someone just bullied him. Which is kinda true. Sonic nodded and took him to the nearest palm tree so he could rest.
The two rest, and tomorrow was a brand new adventure, with a new battle.
