Several years had passed since the Digital heroes from the various timelines came together to battle the abominable force that was Quartzmon, where, at the decision of the various protectors, rulers and guides of the Digital Worlds to eventually merged their worlds as one, bringing not only the various worlds and the Earths they were connected to together, but also reuniting the various hero groups together, all of whom rekindled their friends and made new ones.

Likewise and much to the surprise of the various heroes and heroines, a sixth dimension, the Net Ocean, had also merged into the newly formed Digital World, where the Digimon and their human partners were introduced to a new type of Digital life form, known as the Appmon, who were accompanied by their chosen partners the Appli Drivers, the group of heroes from their world that had saved their home from the evil artificial intelligence that was Leviathan.

Adding to the teams of heroic humans and digital lifeforms, a seventh dimension was opened, which lead to a newly formed Digital World that was home to both humans and Digimon that were still learning to live and work alongside one another, where the Digi-heroes and heroines met a new team of young humans and their Digimon partners who spearheaded these efforts in the hopes of a unity that would drive away a dark force that was slowly making its way toward their world.

Accepting their new allies, who eventually became close and trusted friends, the Digidestined, the Digimon Tamers, Legendary Warriors, DATS and the Fusion Fighters pledged to fight alongside the Appli Drivers and Team Lirurun, to protect the new Digital World from any and all threats.

However, the first true threat the heroes and heroines encountered nearly became the undoing of everything as, from the digital void between dimensions, an ancient and powerful Digimon known as Hypnosmon, a digital recreation of the Greek God of Sleep, took interest and descended itself upon the newly formed Digital World.

Sensing the chaos that came with the creation of the merged Digital World, Hypnosmon sought to bring its version of peace to the Digimon, Appmon and the humans of all worlds by placing everyone within a deep and eternal sleep, where all under the Dark Digimon's influence would live forever in their own dream worlds.

Not even the various Digi-heroes and heroines could resist Hypnosmon's power and were drawn within various illusionary worlds.

It appeared as if the Deity type Digimon was unstoppable, until he found himself in shock to find that despite his great power, two individuals were immune to his influence, the Digidestined and Digimon of Courage, Friendship and Miracles, Davis Motomiya and Veemon, who vowed to save their friends and their world from Hypnosmon's grasp.

Through their devotion toward their friends, the great power that came with their Crests and their desire for a future that was different from what Hypnosmon foresaw, this power allowed Davis and Veemon to retaliate against the Dark Digimon and to even achieve a new form of Digivolution, with Davis and Veemon uniting their strength, hearts and their very beings into one Biomerged form known as UlforceVeedramon, the final saviour for the fate of everyone's futures as he took the battle to Hypnosmon.

A fearsome battle then ensued between UlforceVeedramon and Hypnosmon, where the Digimon of Miracles was even forced to fight against his own friends, their sleeping bodies used as empty puppets by Hypnosmon in an underhanded attempt to break Davis and Veemon physically and mentally.

Withstanding the attacks of those forcefully turned against him and remaining with a shared burning passion to never give up, the combined force that was Davis and Veemon pushed through his friends and battled the Dark Digimon himself.

And after an intense fight, giving it his all through the conflict, the Digimon of Miracles struck Hypnosmon down with a devastating blow, he force of his sabres slicing through and ending the mad quest of the god-like Digimon and freeing the merged Digital World, along with all of his friends from the Hypnosmon's powerful spell.

Released from the worlds based off of their truest desires and realizing how close their lives came to ending up within an eternal darkness, the Digital World and indeed all of the Digi-teams praised their heroes, Davis and Veemon, where they threw a big celebration in their honour.

Despite this victory, as well as the respect, friendship and praise of their friends, not everyone was in the mood for celebration.

Currently within one of the many rooms at DATS command centre which resided within the Digital World and overlooked one of the major cities outside, Davis Motomiya found himself alone and in deep thought.

Having decided to skip the celebration and to allow some time to himself as he found himself distracted by some of his old and familiar demons.

While the only sign of physical harm toward the maroon haired Digidestined was a fractured left arm, which now rested within a sling and would need to be looked after for a few weeks, the mental damage he had received was evident by the solemn expression now upon his face.

Though he knew at the time that his friends were under Hypnosmon's complete control and had no true awareness toward their actions, the remarks, the threats and the curses they all directed at him during the fight left Davis wondering if he truly had any real friends, or if they had merely tolerated his presence for so long, these thoughts bringing back a negative side to the Digidestined of Miracles that he had long thought buried, especially when he thought of his oldest and dearest friend, and how their relationship had changed since they day they first met.

Hearing the door behind him gradually open and snapping himself from his thoughts, Davis turned and gave a small smile to see Gennai enter the room, who then approached the Digidestined of Miracles.

Standing beside Davis and expressing the pride he felt toward the maroon haired Digidestined, the digital human told his friend kindly. "You know, they are all out there celebrating you and Veemon right now, you should be out there too."

Rubbing the back of his head with his working arm, Davis remained with a soft and solemn expression as he said back in reply. "Yeah, I just…"

"Don't feel like celebrating?" Gennai asked as he finished Davis' sentence and now noticed how tired the young man seemed to be, knowing that Davis' expression was not only caused by exhaustion.

Though there were some amongst the Digi-heroes who looked at Davis and thought of him as a secondary copy of Tai, Gennai knew that there was more to Davis if someone got to truly know him, that his normal attitude was nothing more than an act to hide the real Davis Motomiya.

Watching as Gennai gestured a hand toward the couch within the room and knowing Gennai wouldn't be leaving until given an explanation, Davis sighed once again and took the offer, the Digidestined of Courage and Friendship wondering if actually talking to someone might help him out of his darker thoughts.

Sitting so that he didn't have to move his left arm and after Gennai took a seat next to him, Davis remained silent for a moment, before he looked back toward the Digital Human and finally spoke his mind.

"Gennai, why was I chosen to be a Digidestined?" He then questioned, continuing to express what seemed to be bothering him as he then asked. "Was I just a replacement for Tai or was there really no one else?"

"Do you feel, even after all that you have accomplished, that you are unworthy of being a Digidestined?" Gennai questioned in reply, where Davis looked toward the ground and answered with an uncertain sigh. "I honestly don't know."

Leaning back and looking toward the ceiling, Davis then looked toward Gennai as he remained with his doubts and then questioned. "Do you know what my life was like before the Digital World?"

Seeing Gennai shake his head, Davis returned his eyes toward the ceiling and proceeded to tell the Digital Human. "My family moved to Odaiba when I was around six years old. I had to leave behind what friends I had back then and move to a place I knew nothing about. My parents were constantly away because of work and Jun, being more sociable, was able to make friends quickly and often spent time with them, leaving me mostly to myself."

"I felt lost, alone, like I didn't belong, and I couldn't shake that feeling, until the day I met her, the day I met Kari." Davis went on to say as a small smile graced his face, namely toward the mention of the Digidestined of Light. "She saved me from my loneliness and became my best friend. We did everything together, always looking forward to seeing each other every day… I was even there to help take care of her when Tai and the others went to the summer camp, before… that incident."

"Knowing how much she looked up to Tai, I even tried to act like him, thinking that Kari would want me around even more if I reminded her of someone she loved and trusted so much, and for a while, she seemed ok with it." Davis went on to say, before the smile upon his face turned into a frown.

"But after the events with Myotismon and her time in the Digital World, a rift formed between us, and I couldn't understand why at the time. Obviously, it was because she and others vowed not to talk about the Digital World, but even after I became a Digidestined, that rift just kept growing, and I've felt like I have lost the most important person in my life." The maroon haired Digidestined then said with a troubled sigh, where Gennai could sense a great depression and doubt within the young Digidestined before him.

"You do have many friends now, however." Gennai reminded the Digidestined of Miracles in the hope his words would comfort Davis a little.

"Do I really?" Davis merely questioned in reply, keeping his eyes toward the ceiling as he then questioned. "Veemon I know I can depend on, but the others… are they really my friends, or do they just acknowledge my presence when I'm around? Do they really need me or would things work out even if I was gone?"

"They are celebrating today, but tomorrow… will their opinions change or will things return back to normal and I'll keep feeling like I am drifting away from them?" The Digidestined of Courage and Friendship followed up as the sense of doubt within continued to plague his mind.

Remaining quiet and allowing Davis to further express what was on his mind, Gennai held his own solemn expression as he realized just how damaged the maroon haired Digidestined really was and found it ironic that the one who resisted MaloMyotismon's illusions and Hypnosmon's power was among the more mentally disturbed of the Digidestined.

Letting out a small chuckle and shaking his head, Davis then told Gennai with a small smile. "Sorry, that's all just me and my mind right now, but I'm sure I'll get over it, I promise. I just need some time to myself."

Pulling himself up and to his feet, Davis then went on and said. "I'm going to head back home. Please, let the others continue the party, they deserve it after everything they have been through."

Nodding in reply and respect toward the maroon haired Digidestined, Gennai watched as Davis made his way out of the room and toward the Digi-port chamber, where he would return to Odaiba for the night.

With Davis' absence, Gennai expressed a small soft sigh and exited the room himself, the Digital Human walking down the hallways of the base and was left to wonder if there was any way to help the young hero through this clear mental crisis.

Walking down a corridor, however, Gennai was snapped out of his musing when he saw the panicked and frantic form of the Digidestined of Light, Kari Kamiya, who was rushing down the hallways in a desperate search, before she took note of Gennai's presence and made her way toward him.

"Gennai, have you seen Davis? We can't find him anywhere!" The young brunette said with a panic filled voice as she and the others were quick to realize that the hero of their celebration was missing and now the group had set themselves out to find him, each worried for him, hoping that Davis was alright and that his injuries weren't troubling him too much.

Though having promised not to say anything, Gennai not only desired to calm Kari's worries, but to also let her know Davis' mental state and that he would be alright with time, and thus told Kari what Davis had just told him before he headed back home to Odaiba.

Instead of watching Kari calm down, however, Gennai was slightly surprised to see the Digidestined of Light's panic only increase, where he then watched as she rushed past him and made her way toward the Digi-port chamber herself, to return home and to find Davis.

Rushing down the hallways with haste, Kari's mind was in full panic as she thought about what Gennai had just told her.

Had things truly gone this far, had she allowed Davis to drift so far away that he had mentally returned to his mindset of that day?

Clenching her fists and fighting back her tears, the younger Kamiya mentally berated herself for being such a coward and for allowing herself to cause Davis this pain.

She should have spoken to him sooner, she should have sat down with Davis and told him how she really felt, she should have…

Coming to an eventual halt, however, Kari's eyes then widened as a sudden realization hit her, knowing exactly where she would find Davis.

As the sun began to set over Odaiba and remaining alone, Davis found himself casually walking through the city's central park, a soft smile on his face as he watched the civilians of the city minding their own businesses as they passed by him, many preparing to head on home and to their families and loved ones.

For a moment, the maroon haired Digidestined wondered if the people around him knew just how close the world came to ending, before he simply shrugged to himself and believed that the world would most likely never know about the battle with Hypnosmon and that everyone would continue on with their lives like nothing ever happened.

Walking off of the paths and diverting away from the park's pathway, Davis eventually arrived at his destination, the maroon haired Digidestined gaining a soft smile as he looked upon a lone tree within one of the park's fields, a tree that held great and significant meaning toward the young Digidestined of Miracles.

.

.

.

Sitting at the base of the tree, the six year old Davis Motomiya watched the world around him, his arms wrapped around his knees as tears trailed down his face toward the sight of the various groups of children either accompanied alongside their families or their friends as they played together, this furthering the sorrow within the poor boy's heart to know that he couldn't be included.

Fighting back his tears as he closed his eyes, Davis felt lost and alone.

With his parents constantly occupied with business and Jun constantly hanging out with the new friends she had made, Davis was left to wonder if this was meant to be his life, to be alone and to be forgotten.

Feeling something touch his foot and breaking from this sense of sadness, Davis then opened his eyes and found some confusion as he saw a soccer ball now resting against his foot.

Picking up the ball and curious to who owned it, Davis received his reply when an angelic voice asked him with approachable kindness. "Can I please have the ball back?"

Tilting his head up, Davis found himself looking upon a girl who looked to be around his age, who had short brown hair and a pair of beautiful hazel eyes, who then looked at Davis with some curiosity for a moment, before a bright smile appeared upon her face.

And that smile alone seemed to brighten Davis' world.

From that smile, Davis found that he was filled with a sense of peace, which only grew as the kindhearted girl then said with a growing invitation within her voice. "Hi, I'm Kari Kamiya. What's your name?"

"D… Davis... Davis Motomiya." Davis said with his own respect as he felt the pleasant warmth further spread through his being, which continued to grow as Kari looked upon him with her smile and then asked. "Do you want to come play with me, my brother and our friend?"

"Sure!" Davis replied with great excitement within his voice as Kari offered him a hand, one he gladly took.

Taking Kari's hand and allowing her to happily escort him to the playing field, Davis believed a new chapter in his life was starting, one where he would never feel alone again.

And unbeknownst to him at the time, so too did another feel the same way.

.

.

.

Allowing himself a moment to smile at the memory and to think for a little longer toward that day, Davis sighed a little as he moved toward the tree, before adjusting himself as he took a seat at the base, making sure to not hurt his arm any further as he took a seat upon the ground beside the tree.

Leaning against the tree and closing his eyes, Davis allowed himself a few moments to reflect on that day, his life and how things had changed for him since he first met Kari.

As he had told Gennai, from the moment he first met Kari, he and the younger Kamiya were inseparable, always hanging out together whenever they could and spending time with Tai and Sora, who would come and visit him at his apartment as much as he would visit them.

Whenever he was around Kari and she would smile at him, it would cause Davis to smile himself.

Davis always felt his trouble just drift away and believed anything was possible when he was with Kari.

Kari had become his light in his darkness and that was when Davis knew he had fallen in love with the brunette, even when he didn't truly understand what love was.

When Kari, Tai and Sora began to distance themselves from him, however, Davis felt lost and confused.

He felt hurt that he didn't know what was wrong or how to fix it and would do anything to bring back his friends and his light back to him.

Of course, later on he would understand, knowing the pain and trauma they had gone through, especially Kari, in their adventures in the Digital World and could only talk amongst themselves about it, Davis still felt hurt and depressed that his light seemed so distant from him.

Then, when he met TK and saw how close Kari was with him, Davis mentally panicked as there was part of him feeling that his light was taken from him and he would lose Kari forever.

Through this feeling of worry, the maroon haired Digidestined did exactly what he believed Tai would do, he fought back and tried to win back Kari's affection in the way he believed the older Kamiya would do in his situation.

However, instead of working in his favour, that attitude only made things worse for Davis, with Kari seemingly distancing herself further from him in favour of TK, while Tai and the others berated him for his often reckless actions.

And thus, several few days after the battle with MaloMyotismon, Davis made one final attempt to be with Kari and summoned the courage to plainly ask her out on a friendly date, which she politely turned down, which allowed the maroon haired Digidestined to know that things between him and Kari had indeed changed forever and that in the end, she was no longer his light.

Thus, Davis stopped pestering Kari, giving her space as he watched her and TK practically joined at the hip in everything they did, and Davis could only feel pain in his heart to know that she was not smiling at him anymore.

Likewise, Davis held no hatred or resentment toward TK.

He knew that the blond Digidestined was a good person and could be counted on when Kari needed someone close to her and someone she could trust when he couldn't be there, saving her and protecting her at the worst moments of her life, while Davis continued to believe that he unable to do anything for the girl he cherished.

Her brother, her friends and even her Digimon partner seemed to think that Kari and TK were meant for each other, and as much as that pained him, deep down, Davis knew he had no say in the matter.

Sighing once again and unsure if he felt any better or worse, the maroon haired Digidestined accepted the truth he had long tried to deny, that in order for him to feel better, to let go of his despair, no matter how much it would hurt, he needed to let go of Kari, let her live her life while he tried to find a new path for himself.

Perhaps he would take up one of the offers from the culinary schools overseas and move, being around if his friends or the Digital World needed him, but ultimately, he'd stay away long enough for his heart to heal and make move on from the girl he considered his light.

'Goodbye, Kari Kamiya…' Davis thought solemnly, a bitter smile upon his face as he allowed his despair to take hold for a moment.

However, feeling something softly tap at his foot, Davis slowly opened his eyes as he looked down and saw a soccer ball resting at his feet, before his eyes widened when he heard a familiar voice then ask with a familiar kindness. "Can I please have the ball back?"

Slowly tilting his head up and looking over, Davis was shocked and bewildered to see Kari standing before him, her normal bright smile upon her face and a small hue upon her cheeks as she looked at him with pure joy in her eyes.

"Kari… what… why…?!" Davis could only say as his mind tried to process what was going on and to how Kari had found him.

Keeping her smile as she picked up the soccer ball she had borrowed from Tai's locker at the DATS base, Kari moved to sit beside Davis and gave her replies to his questions. "One, it's not really a party when the guest of honour is missing."

"And two, I got Gennai to spill what you said to him." The Digidestined of Light went on to say as she sat down and leaned against the tree.

Taking a seat reasonably close to Davis, Kari then told him with a small smile. "And when he told me how you were feeling, I just realized where I could find you, under this very tree."

Looking over the tree for a moment, Kari then looked toward the ground, the Digidestined of Light telling Davis with a remaining smile. "I come and visit this tree a lot… it still has meaning to me as well."

Uncertain as to what he should say, Davis remained quiet as he looked toward the ground too, uncertain what to do or how to act, which left both Davis and Kari sitting in silence.

But just as Kari was about to speak, Davis then said with a solemness within his voice. "I'm sorry, Kari."

Turning her head toward the maroon haired boy, Kari held an expression of confusion as she asked. "What are you sorry about, Davis?"

Sighing again, Davis leaned back and started to tell Kari as he spoke his mind. "You're out here looking for me when you could be back with TK and the others, celebrating."

"And not just that… I'm sorry for everything else. You found someone great in your life, who was there for you in the worst of times, and I acted like a child when I should have been a friend and…" The maroon haired Digidestined went on to say as he turned to look upon Kari, but found he was then himself silenced when Kari placed a finger to his lips.

Likewise, Davis felt confused and a little concerned about the way the Digidestined of Light was now looking upon him, an expression of seriousness and frustration etched upon her face.

"Davis… listen to me and listen to me well, or I will keep saying this until it is etched into your mind and every else in the entire world. TK and I are NOT dating, we've never been and never will be. We are just friends." The brunette said with a seriousness within her voice, her words causing Davis' eyes to widen in surprise as Kari removed her finger from his lips.

"Hell, he's been dating Catherine for over a year now and people still think we are together, it's annoying as hell." The Digidestined of Light then went on to say, and with a growing frustration as she looked to the side, wishing to vent her anger before she resumed her talk with Davis.

"I'm… I'm sorry to hear that." The Digidestined of Miracles could only say, believing that TK had cheated on Kari and that she was upset with the situation.

"Don't be, I'm the one who helped them get together." Kari quickly informed in reply, her confession only surprising Davis further, which Kari quickly took note of and caused her to express a small sigh.

Leaning her head back and further speaking her mind, Kari remained serious as then asked. "Davis… I need to tell you something, but I need you to just let me talk and say what I have to say, and not reply unless I ask, please?"

Uncertain as to what he should do, Davis just nodded his head and allowed Kari to speak further.

"Do you remember what my illusion world which MaloMyotismon forced me into?" The Digidestined of Light then questioned, which caused Davis to nod and to say in reply. "Yeah, a world where humans and Digimon lived together in peace."

Chuckling lightly, Kari then told Davis with a soft and endearing smile. "Yes, but that was only half of my dream world."

Looking up at the sky as the sun continued to set, the Digidestined of Light then closed her eyes, rested her head upon Davis' shoulder and as she told him with an honest tone. "Yes, I saw a world where humans and Digimon existed together, and I watched this world sitting beneath this very tree as you say beside me and held my hand."

To what he had just heard, Davis' eyes widened in surprise as he turned to look upon the brunette, to see Kari looking back at him with a solemn expression of her own.

"Davis… the day I met you was one of the happiest days of my life. When I first saw your smile, everything just felt better, felt right, and I knew then I wanted to spend every day of my life with you." The brunette confessed with a soft smile, before she told Davis as she found herself lost in her memories. "I looked forward every day to the chance to spend time with you, you became my first true love. I still remember how you went out of your way to come and help my mom take care of me when I was sick."

"And then, when Myotismon attacked, I was so scared for you. I wondered if you were alright. I even found you amongst the children that were unconscious after Myotismon put the entire city to sleep." Kari went on to say, her words only adding to Davis' awe, having never heard of any of this before.

"I was so desperate to wake you, to see if you were alright. I even dragged Joe over to check on you, where he had to keep reassuring me you were alright. With how frantic that day was he didn't even remember it was you I was trying to wake." She then confessed with a small laugh as the brunette remembered driving Joe crazy in her panicked desperation to awaken Davis from his trance induced slumber.

"After we got home from the Digital World, I wanted to tell you everything, to let you know what had happened and what Tai and I went through, but they made me promise not to say anything, and it hurt, it hurt that I had to keep a secret from one of the most important people in my life. I was so scared I was going to slip up and say something that I was afraid of seeing you… and that was one of the worst decisions of my life." Kari then said as the solemn expression returned upon her face and reflected within her voice.

"At least when TK started to attend school with us, I figured I had someone else to talk to about the Digital World… but it never occurred to me how that would look in your eyes." The brunette went on to say with an apologetic tone.

"But then, you became a Digidestined yourself, and that was another amazing day for me, because not only did it mean that you would be a part of my world again, but everyone else would be able to see just how amazing and wonderful you really are." Kari then told Davis with a bright smile, before a frown replaced what joy she had expressed. "Instead, I only helped ruin things. I berated you for the stupidest things, agreed with the others just to keep the peace and didn't explain things better to you. I even yelled at you for talking bad about Jun, already knowing the kind of person she was, and didn't apologize to you afterward."

"But in the end, you showed everyone just how amazing you are, you led us against impossible odds, saved Ken from his darkness, stopped BlackWarGreymon from his misguided quest and led us in defeating the monster that had plagued my nightmares even after all those years." The Digidestined of Light told Davis with a bright smile, adding as she looked at him and told the maroon haired Digidestined. "And I couldn't help but fall more and more in love with you."

Seeing the shock and awe still upon Davis' face to what she had told him, Kari looked to the ground and then confessed. "When you asked me out that final time… I said no because I wasn't ready yet for a relationship. We were barely fourteen at the time, I wanted to enjoy our time as friends more until I was ready. I didn't put too much thought into it because I knew Davis Motomiya never gives up, and when I was finally ready and he would ask again, I would've said yes."

"So, when the time came, I waited, and waited, and waited… and then I began to panic because the love of my life had stopped asking me out, he barely talked to me anymore and seemed to distance himself from me." The Digidestined of Light went on the say as she clenched her fists and held back her own tears.

"I tried to think about what had changed, and then it hit me as to how horrible I have been to you, how I neglected your feelings and slowly pushed you away. I realized that the last time you asked me out was the final nail in the coffin and I realized I had damaged our relationship forever… It was like I was living in my worst nightmare." Kari said with a clear heartfelt pain within her voice as she wiped her eyes, sighing as she thought back to the way she treated Davis and how it had all led to this moment.

"Sora, Mimi, Yolei, even Gatomon tried to get me to talk to you and let you know how I felt, but I was so scared I would only make things worse… I didn't know what else to do." She went on to say as she thought about how distant Davis had been toward her lately and how much it hurt to see him moving away from her because he thought she loved someone else.

It was then that Kari gained an annoyed frown as she then told the maroon haired Digidestined. "And over the years… listening in as more and more of the girls at school started to notice you only added to my despair. Listening to the rest of the cheerleaders talk about how hot you are was driving me up a wall!"

Ignoring the look of shock upon Davis' face upon learning that he was apparently one of the most wanted guys in school, Kari continued her rant with a small growl. "Even after the merger of the Digital Worlds and meeting up with the others, listening to the other girls go on and on about how handsome and attractive you had become was getting to me. Watching as Airu and Zoe drooled over your body back at the beach party last month like you were a piece of meat… It took all my self-control not to slap them. I even became worried when I found out that Rika has a crush on you!"

Blinking his eyes upon hearing that the short tempered, albeit attractive red haired Tamer had a crush on him, Davis mentally stored that information in the back of his mind as he watched Kari's expression turn solemn once again, which caused Davis' empathy to return once again.

"I was lost, I felt like I was losing you and I felt that I deserved it for pushing you away…" The Digidestined of Light went on to say, before chuckling to herself as she then told Davis. "So, when Hypnosmon's power started to affect me… he offered me the one thing I wanted more than anything else in the world… a world where we would be together… and I couldn't resist…"

As her words continued to leave Davis in a state of shock and disbelief, Kari continued as she then told the maroon haired Digidestined. "But when I woke up, not only did I realize that Hypnosmon's promise was all a lie… but I found out that he had used me against you… that I had hurt you once again in the process and…"

Closing her eyes as the tears began to slide down her cheeks, Kari then continued with a trembling voice. "And then I heard what Gennai said… about how you were doubting yourself… about the friends you had made… that you had returned to that same depression you had the day we met… I… I…!"

The next thing Davis knew, the love of his life, his light, wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her head into his chest as she started to sob.

Crying but also trying to make sure she didn't harm his injured arm in the process, Kari held her head closely to Davis and begged through her pain filled tears. "Please… please don't push me away, Davis… Please don't leave me…! If you don't love me anymore, I will live with that, but please… don't walk out of my life… I can't bear to live without you in it…!"

Though she knew that Davis would never physically harm himself, she was deathly afraid that the boy who held her heart would walk out of her life in the belief that he was making her own better.

And that thought, along with the idea of Davis finding someone else, someone who would win his love and affection and leave her behind, tore at the brunette's heart.

As Kari continued to hold tightly onto him and expressed her emotions further, Davis remained in shock and disbelief over everything he had just heard.

He was stunned to hear that the girl of his dreams, the love of his life, his light also loved him and loved him as much as he loved her, that the distance between them was only formed by misunderstandings and fear.

For a moment, Davis even found himself wondering if this was all a dream, wondering if he had actually been caught in Hypnosmon's spell and that the victory he achieved, along with this moment, was just a fantasy the Dark Digimon projected upon him in order to stop him and keep him under control.

With this line of thought, Davis did the one thing he knew he could do in order to prove if this was all real.

Attempting to move his fractured arm like normal, Davis found his worries cast aside as he let out a sharp growl from the pain that coursed through his body, the sound of which prompted Kari to release her hold and look at him with an expression of confusion, shock and concern.

"Davis, are you alright?!" The Digidestined of Light questioned with a clear worry as she feared that she may have accidentally hurt the maroon haired boy in her reckless actions.

But upon hearing Davis then chuckle as his pain subsided, however, Kari gained a moment of confusion before the Digidestined of Miracles informed her. "I'm good, I just… needed to make sure this was real…"

Briefly expressing a moment of hurt upon hearing Davis' words, Kari relaxed herself as she remembered the day the two of them just had, alongside the battle the maroon haired Digidestined just went through and now understood his reaction quite well.

If Davis had simply told her that he was in love with her, Kari might've thought it was also a dream and too good to be true.

"I almost gave up on us, Kari…" He then confessed, before the maroon haired Digidestined looked toward the ground so he could avoid the look of horror upon the brunette's face.

"I believed that I wasn't worthy of you, that you had found someone who truly made you happy, and I was willing to sacrifice my own happiness for yours… I am sorry I didn't realize the pain I was causing you." Davis then said as he further expressed his emotions.

Much to his surprise, Davis was then shocked when Kari placed her right hand upon his cheek and turned his head so she could look into his eyes, projecting as much love as she could within her expression, before she leaned in and claimed his lips in a loving kiss.

Shocked to begin with from the love of his life now clearly kissing him, Davis then relaxed and returned the kiss, the two lovers closing their eyes and enjoying the tender moment together.

Eventually separating their lips for air, Kari remained staring into Davis' eyes with absolute love as she told the Digidestined of Courage and Friendship. "And I am sorry for driving you away, my love. I just want us to be together now."

Softly caressing Davis' cheek, the Digidestined of Light then asked softly. "Davis, can I please ask a favour? … could you please ask me out again...?"

A smile growing toward the request, the maroon haired Digidestined nodded in reply, before he asked with pure love within his voice. "Kari Kamiya, will you go out with me?"

Feeling her tears continue to slide down her cheeks, this time in joy to hear her beloved ask the question she had waited a long time for, Kari gave Davis another light kiss, before replying with a love deep within her heart. "Yes, Davis Motomiya… I will go out with you."

Resting her head upon Davis' good shoulder, Kari allowed herself to enjoy the moment as Davis wrapped his good arm around her waist, the Digidestined of Miracles holding the Digidestined of Light closer to his being as he felt his doubts and worries fade away now that he had his light back in his life.

Enjoying the warmth she felt within her heart as Davis held her closely, Kari then felt her cellphone vibrate within her pocket.

A little annoyed but knowing it was better she answer it, the brown haired Digidestined retrieved her device and saw the various messages within the group chat between her and the other Digi-heroes, each trying to update one another about Davis' whereabouts as their concerns for the Digidestined of Miracles were highly evident.

Smiling to herself as she knew Davis' phone was off and he couldn't see the messages amongst the group chat, but feeling her heart flutter to know that her beloved had more friends than he realized, Kari quickly texted to the others that she had indeed found Davis, that he was fine, but Kari added that Davis was tired and needed to rest, before she suggested that they celebrate his victory with him later.

Unbeknownst to Davis or to Kari, their touching moment was being watched and observed as Tai, Sora, Veemon, Gatomon, Agumon and Biyomon looked on from a hiding spot nearby, the Digidestined of Love having confronted Gennai not long after Kari did.

And upon hearing the situation, Sora knew exactly where they would find the pair, where the orange haired Digidestined all but dragged Tai and the Digimon along with her.

And now, not only seeing that Davis was alright, but that Kari had finally confessed her feelings to him and the pair seemed to be alright, the two Digidestined and the four Digimon allowed the pair their privacy and returned to the party back within the DATS base of operations.

Allowing herself and Davis a few more minutes to themselves, to keep herself close to Davis' welcoming chest, Kari then helped her beloved to his feet and escorted him home.

Taking Davis home, using that time to speak further with Davis and enjoy the time with her beloved, the Digidestined were met by Jun, who was on her way out to spend time with friends.

But after Jun took notice of her brother's arm, the older Motomiya held many questions and her fair share of concerns.

Explaining the situation and how Davis would need time to heal, as well as praising Davis as a hero, to his modesty, Kari told Jun that she would be staying over to help take care of the Digidestined of Miracles, an offer Davis quickly realized he would not be able to argue with and one Jun was most appreciative of.

As Jun accepted the situation and prepared to leave, the older Motomiya jokingly told her brother and his new girlfriend to not have too much fun, a tease that left Davis blushing a little, which grew as Kari merely said with a mischievous grin that she would not make any promises, a remark that almost caused Jun to nearly trip as she looked back at the forms of her brother and Kari, who closed the door behind them.

Though the younger Kamiya's mind was filled with the ideas of more… "enjoyable" things that she and her new boyfriend could do together, Kari knew that she and Davis would not be able to do anything too physical until his arm had healed.

But having waited this long already, Kari didn't mind waiting a little longer.

The next week was one of pure bliss for the pair as Kari spent nearly all of her time at the Motomiya's, doing all she could to help Davis recover and to enjoy the time she had so longed for with the man she truly loved.

From his view and for Davis, it was like a dream come true, especially a few days later when the rest of the Digi-heroes and heroines arrived at his place and restarted their celebration for him and for Veemon over their victory against Hypnosmon.

Feeling much better, physically and mentally, the Digidestined of Miracles allowed himself to enjoy the party this time, especially as Kari remained close to him and happily showered him with deep affection, while the maroon haired hero noticed the envious glances a few girls sent Kari's way.

His doubts, his despair and his negativity all but forgotten, Davis found himself enjoying life once more, connecting better with his friends as he grew closer and closer to the girl he loved, where he would eventually, after a few years of dating, would ask for her hand in marriage, an offer Kari wasted no time and happily accepted.

And with a new dream in mind between both Digidestined of Miracles and of Light, Davis and Kari looked forward to their futures together and as lovers.
