(Opening shot: the city skyline in the evening)
Narrator: The city of Townsville…is celebrating the fourth of July!
(Quick pan to the city streets; townsfolk are carrying goods (IE snacks and fireworks) in anticipation for the Independence Day celebration.)
Narrator: (cheerful) And no better way to kick off this momentous occasion than a fireworks show right here in Townsville Square! Oh yes, folks, nothing like some good old-fashioned fireworks to get this party-
(He is interrupted when a loud explosion shakes the camera, alerting the citizens as well.)
Narrator: What's this? Starting already?
(Cut to the sky; a huge, heavily-armed flying warship with a darkly-colored paint job and familiar-looking helmeted simian's face on the front flies ominously above the city; slow pan across the ship, displaying its figurehead, paintwork, weapons and flag on the back, the latter depicting the same monkey face as a jolly roger of sorts, the ship's engines roaring as it flies. View of the ship's cannons as they fire banana-shaped torpedoes over the city, which explode into powerful fireworks that illuminate the night sky with a yellow-orange glow, with banana peels raining down: Cut to the street with the townsfolk slipping and falling on the peels that have landed, some dropping their supplies. Cut back to the ship, a powerful laugh fills the air; it's obvious who the ship belongs to.)
Narrator: Oh, of course. It's Mojo Jojo, the monkey of malice and chimp of cruelty!
(Zoom towards the airship to inside the bridge as the narrator speaks, where the archnemesis in question stands near the control panel, with a stern-faced orangutan in a captain's uniform standing next to him, and several gibbon crewmen working at the controls. Mojo turns to face the camera.)
Mojo: Hmph. You make that sound like a bad thing. (He turns to face his monkey minions.) My loyal army that pledges allegiance only to me! The day of our reckoning has finally come at long last! (Cut to his troops at the control panel, glancing at each other as their leader gives another one of his trademark reduntant speeches.) With the help of my flying fortress, the Kong-queror, I, Mojo Jojo, will show the city of Townsville what it really means to throw a big fireworks celebration! (Cut to the orangutan captain, who keeps his focused scowl as his boss rambles.) From this day forward, the day known as Independence Day will no longer be known as a day of independence, but as a day of power and supervillainy! (Cut back to Mojo, as he reaches the grand finale of his speech.) Henceforth, this day on the fourth of July shall soon be known as… (he raises his arms.) MOJO DAY! (He lets out another maniacal cackle. Cut back to the monkeys at the controls. They glance at each other before clapping at their leader's grand speech, though rather unenthusiastically.)
Orangutan captain: Lord Mojo. We are approaching Townsville Hall. What is your command?
Mojo: Prepare to ready the Banana Bomber for firing. We will see just how festive these people are when they watch me vandalize their precious figurehead into desicration! (gives a gloating chuckle)
Orangutan captain: (nods) Yes, sir. (turns towards the crewman) Commence primary ignition.
(Cut to the monkey crew who get to work activating the Banana Bomber. Cut back to outside. The weapon in question takes aim at Townsville Hall. It is a large double-barrled gun near the figurehead of the ship. The top barrel is raised upwards as it glows red. Cut to the orangutan captain as he gives the order.)
Orangutan captain: Fire!
(The Banana Bomber fires a huge warhead with an angry gorilla's face at Townsville Hall, poised to explode and litter the building with bananas. Before it can detonate, an eye laser beam flashes into view from o.c., hitting the warhead and sending it off-course far from Townsville Hall. It explodes in a brilliant display of fireworks and banana juice. Cut back to the bridge. The crewmen and captain are taken aback by the sabotage, with Mojo confused and annoyed.)
Mojo: What?! What is wrong with my Banana Bomber?!
Monkey officer: (looks at a radar) Lord Mojo! Captain Pongo! There's something coming up at high speed! It's the Powerpuff Girls!
Crewmen: (terrified) The Powerpuff Girls?!
Captain Pongo: (losing his temper) The Powerpuff Girls?!
Mojo: (flatly, having far too much experience to be fazed) The Powerpuff Girls. Why am I not surprised?
(Quick pan to the girls flying through the skyline, approaching the airship.)
Blossom: Looks like Mojo's been scraping the bottom of the barrel lately.
Buttercup: (annoyed) I'll say. We're missing the fireworks show for this? At least that evil woodchipper on Arbor Day wasn't lame!
Bubbles: (chimes in) Ooh, ooh! What about that giant Easter Bunny? That was fun!
Blossom: I dunno. That abominable snowman last Christmas is up there for me.
Buttercup: Eh, whatever. Let's just sink this chimp chump and get back to the show!
(The three continue speeding towards the Kong-queror. Cut to the bridge interior as Mojo and Captain Pongo watch from the window. Mojo sports a rather confident look on his face.)
Mojo: So, the Powerpuff Girls think they can discombobulate my brilliant plan? Well, they are mistaken! Little do they know that I, Mojo Jojo, have yet another little surprise in store for them! Prepare to ready the Banana Bomber for firing again! The one on the lower half this time! They shall taste the ultimate power of my concentrated firework!
Captain Pongo: (nods before addressing the crew) You heard him, scallywags! Divert all energy to the lower main cannon! Someone fries tonight!
(The crewman monkeys salute and set to work once more at the control panels. Cut to the outside of the airship to a close-up view of the Banana Bomber's lower laser cannon. Cut to just behind it; the streaks of the girls can be seen from a distance, flying closer to the airship.)
Mojo: Ready…
(The cannon starts audibly charging with energy. A beeping noise is also heard.)
Captain Pongo: Aim…
(The cannon turns and points at the girls' direction. Cut to the radar showing a reticle locking onto three dots, one pink, one sky blue and one jade green, clearly representing the girls as its targets. The beeping intensifies.)
Mojo and Captain Pongo: (in unison) FIRE!
(The cannon fires a neon pink/reddish beam of energy. Cut to the girls in midflight as they are alerted to the blast coming right towards them.)
Blossom: Look out!
(Far view of the airship in the distance as the laser blasts forth; cut to a view of the sky showing the laser fire's results: the blast has left a large gaping hole in the middle of a cloud, with the girls nowhere in sight. Cut to the bridge interior; Mojo, the captain and the crew looking out the window in shock and disbelief. Close-up shot of Mojo and Captain Pongo, the latter unsure of what to make of this.)
Captain Pongo: Did we get 'em?
(Cut back to a view of the razed cloud; after a long pause, Bubbles suddenly pops her head out of another cloud upside-down.)
Bubbles: Peekaboo!
(Buttercup pops her head out of a second cloud.)
Buttercup: Ha! Suckers!
(Finally, Blossom pokes her head out of a third cloud. The girls have avoided the cannon's laser fire by hiding in clouds adjacent to the one that was scorched.)
Blossom: (to Mojo) You're really gonna have to try harder than that.
(Cut to Mojo and Captain Pongo, incredulous and outraged that the enemy managed to dodge their ship's most powerful weapon.)
Mojo and Captain Pongo: Inconcievable! It didn't work?! (They turn and face each other, fired-up and determined.) THIS! MEANS! WAR!
Mojo: Set all weapons to lock on and target the Powerpuff Girls! Destroy them with every last amount of firework firepower that we have! I want them all burnt to a crisp, all hot and bothered!
Captain Pongo: Load the torpedo bays! Security and jet-barrel crews to your battle stations!
(Numerous monkeys in pilot, sailor and guard uniforms scramble to their assigned defensive positions, chattering frantically.)
Intercom voice: Emergency. Emergency. Incoming enemy Powerpuffs. Prepare for launch.
(Outside, the ship's many turrets rotate into the same direction and start firing a fullisade of cannonballs into the sky. The girls quickly zoom out of their hiding places; the shots narrowly miss them and explode into fireworks. Cannoballs continue launching and exploding as they fly onward.)
Blossom: Is everyone okay?
Bubbles: (flies into view) Giggles standing by!
Buttercup: (flies into view as well) Sourpuss standing by!
Blossom: Good! Now we just gotta find out how to bring down that ship! Let's circle around and look for a weak spot! (She speeds off.)
Bubbles: (excitedly) Time to bubble up! (She follows suit.)
Buttercup: (now thrilled for the challenge) Game on! (She is the last to zip away.)
(Full view of the airship; the girls are zooming around the vessel in different flight patterns: Blossom in controlled and balanced turns, Bubbles in playful loops and wild circles, and Buttercup in sharp zig-zags. All the while, the ship's many cannons and turrets unload in all directions, the shells missing their targets and detonating in a display of fireworks all over the sky. Chatter from the girls coupled with angered shouting from the monkeys is heard as the mayhem unfolds.)
Monkey minion: Fire! Fire!
Bubbles: Alley-oop!
Monkey minion: Stay on 'em! Stay on 'em!
Blossom: Woah, easy there!
Monkey minion: Shoot! Shoot them!
Buttercup: Watch out, doofs!
Monkey minion: Blast, they're slippery!
Bubbles: Yoo-hoo! Over here!
Monkey minion: That's it! We got 'em! We got 'em!
Blossom: Ha! Nice try!
(Cut to a view from inside the Mayor's office. The Mayor is watching the explosive battle from his window, his eyes glued to the numerous fireworks going off at once. Ms. Bellum enters the scene.)
Ms. Bellum: Mayor, I'm sorry to interrupt, but we really should get you out of here. I know it looks fun and all, but this could be dangerous.
Mayor: Oh, don't talk so silly! Do you think I would wanna miss this? This might be our best fireworks show yet! Oh, um, could you run down and bring me a glass of warm milk?
Ms. Bellum: (conciding to his wishes) Alright, Mayor, suit yourself. Just be careful. (She takes her leave.)
(The Mayor continues to watch the explosive yet colorful skirmish through his window, eating from a jar of pickles as he does so. Cut back to outside in the sky; the aerial battle rages on with the same results; the girls darting around as the ship's weapons fire all over the place, missing them the whole time.)
Narrator: Wow, what a show! The Powerpuff Girls have Mojo and his monkey mooks knocked for a loop! And lots of them! But can they figure out a weakness in that ghoulish galleon before it's too late?
(Blossom flies into view, facing the camera. Her smile and optimistic tone indicates that she has an answer to the narrator's question.)
Blossom: Glad you asked, Mr. Narrator! (She looks toward the ship, and her eyes glow orange; she is preparing her X-ray vision. Cut to her perspective on the lower hull beneath the bridge and zoom in. After a moment, a large generator, guarded by two monkey soldiers, appears. One of the guards is reading a newspaper and the other is drinking coffee from a mug. Back to Blossom as she shuts her X-ray vision off.)
Blossom: Aha! (Her sisters appear next to her.)
Buttercup: What's up, Blossom?
Bubbles: Did you find something?
Blossom: Yep! All we have to do is take out the ship's generator. Then Mojo won't be going anywhere!
Buttercup: Yeah, but we gotta do something about those cannons. There's gotta be millions of them!
Blossom: It's gonna take teamwork. Bubbles, you take care of the weapons.
Bubbles: Okey-dokey!
Blossom: Buttercup, you try to find a way to the generator.
Buttercup: (cracks her knuckles, eager for a good fight) Oh man, this is gonna be cool!
Blossom: And I'll handle Chimpy's goons on the deck. (as they assemble in a line) Powerpuff Girls, full speed ahead!
Girls: Let's go!
(They take off and fly straight towards the bow of the ship. Cut back to inside the bridge; the monkey crew is still hurriedly working the control panels and scrambling to their posts. One of them addresses himself to Mojo.)
Monkey crewman: Uh, Lord Mojo? Yeah…I think they've found us out.
Mojo: Oh, they think they can trick me? Outfox me? Well, little do they know of the little surprise that I, Mojo Jojo, have planned for them that they will not expect! They will never see it coming!
Captain Pongo: Well then, let's finish this little game. (addresses the crewman from earlier) Charge the Banana Bomber!
Monkey crewman: Charging Banana Bomber! (sets to work on the control panel)
(Cut to the Banana Bomber itself. A command from the captain is heard o.c. as the top cannon tilts up slightly.)
Captain Pongo: (o.c.) Adjust ten degrees up… (cut to him onscreen as he gives the order) Fire!
(The top cannon fires another warhead. It speeds towards the girls with a roar of its engine. Cut to Buttercup who sees the warhead coming before warning her sisters.)
Buttercup: INCOMING!
(The girls quickly fly up, narrowly dodging the warhead. It suddenly stops in its tracks, and its eye looks in the direction it missed. It turns around and glares at the girls, seemingly angry that it missed its targets; it appears to be sentient. It accelerates as it charges after the girls. Its chosen prey appears to be Bubbles. She screams in surprise as it closes in on her.)
Bubbles: EEEE!
Buttercup: (flies by her) Jeez, cool it, Bubbles. It's a banana peel bomb, remember?
Bubbles: Oh! (she laughs at her reaction) You're right! Silly me.
(She flies upwards and begins her assault on the airship's turrets by blasting them with her eye beams; the warhead continues to chase her and copies her every twist and turn. Buttercup flies down near the lower end of the ship while Blossom crashes onto the deck, just behind the Banan Bomber. She nimbly zooms down the deck, the wood behind her cracking and combusting. Monkeys pop out of manhole covers and look around. They panic when they see Blossom coming and desperately attempt to fend her off by throwing wrenches and shooting at her with popguns. She passes them by instantly, the wrenches and corks breaking portholes and knocking out hapless nearby soldiers.)
(Cut to the bridge. A monkey crewman is looking at the radar; a pink dot is advancing towards their position; it indicates Blossom on her way to give a thorough beating. He has a frightened tone in his voice.)
Monkey crewman: Captain! We've got Blossom on radar! She's on the deck and coming this way!
Captain Pongo: She won't get far. Send out the jeeps!
(Outside the ship; a large number of jeeps driven by monkeys in biker outfits are parked at the base of the cabin, armed with flamethrowers, rail guns ECT. They are prepared to keep Blossom from going any further. The one in front is wearing a spiked helmet and a red cape; he appears to be leading the charge. He waves a checkered flag to give the signal.)
Lead driver: ATTACK!
(On this command, the jeeps launch down the deck like a pack of wolves, the drivers shouting out battle cries as they go.)
Jeep driver #1: Move, move, move!
Jeep driver #2: Shotgun!
( The scene shifts back to Blossom as she continues down her path. She looks forward and sees the convoy barreling right into her path, the drivers shouting as they get closer.)
Blossom: An ambush, huh?
(She puts on an extra burst of speed, zipping right through the fleet down the middle. Close-up shot of the lead driver; he looks behind him with a shocked look on his face, then gives a growl of anger at being given the slip. He slams on the brakes and sharply turns the steering wheel, and the rest of the jeeps follow suit; they slide and skid for several seconds, as if their screeching tires were made of cement blocks or wheels of butter.)
Lead driver: (frantically) Turn around, turn around! Don't let her get away!
(When they finally stop and regain traction, they speed after Blossom. Cut to a top view of the deck as the scene pans down to the underside of the airship. Buttercup flies along near the base of the ship, looking around for a possible way to sneak inside. Cut to Captain Pongo.)
Captain Pongo: Launch jet barrels!
(Cut to inside a hangar; large barrels with fighter jet wings, rocket boosters and turrets, piloted by monkeys in aviation gear, are just about to take off.)
Barrel pilot: Jet barrels away!
(The jet barrels fly out of the hangar, locking onto Buttercup. She has a good laugh at the squadron's rather comical appearance.)
Buttercup: Nice rides, dorks! Where'd ya get 'em, the orchard? (She laughs again.)
Lead barrel pilot: (livid from the taunting) Oh, that is IT! (he presses a button on the control stick; this charges up the turrets under the jet barrel's wings. The rest of the squadron follows along.) Fire!
(The jet barrels fire eggs from their turrets, trying to egg Buttercup like a house. She dodges them with ease, catching some in her mouth.)
Buttercup: Mmm, delicious. Too bad your weapons totally blow!
Lead barrel pilot: (flails angrily) SHUT YOUR FACE!
(The squadron continues firing eggs as she begins blasting some of the jet-barrels with her eye beams. The scene switches back to the top of the ship; turrets continue firing cannonballs that explode into fireworks. The turrets are suddenly hit by eye laser beams and explode. Bubbles flies into view; she is the cause. She seems to be enjoying this immensely, letting out happy cries of "Whee!" as she easily dodges cannonballs.)
Bubbles: This is even better than coloring!
(She scores some more hits with her eye beams and zooms over the duck and up in the sky. The warhead from earlier is still hot on her tail. She looks behind her to see her pursuer refusing to quit.)
Bubbles: Oop! There you are, Mr. Bomb! (baby talk) Are oo still twying to bwow up wittle old me?
(She speeds off. The warhead glares and blows steam from its nostrils like a maddened bull before rocketing after her. She loops and zig-zags up and over the ship, the warhead copying her every move near-flawlessly. This bomb is out for blood. Close-up of Bubbles mid-flight. She looks behind her.)
Bubbles: Oh my! (She looks downwards; a bird's eye view of the Banana Bomber. Back to Bubbles; She thinks for a moment, then the light bulb goes on in her brain. She waves to her pursuer.) Yoo-hoo! Mr. Bomb! Catch me if you can!
(She zips down towards the cannon with the warhead in hot pursuit. She sports a determined "hardcore" expression as she goes faster and faster. Close-up of the warhead as it matches her speed, squinting and very much poised for the kill. After several seconds, Bubbles gets close enough to the cannon and quickly pulls up.)
Bubbles: Upsy-daisy!
(The warhead looks in her direction, then back to its path; its expression changes from anger to panic; it's too late for it to pull up and it collides with the cannon, destroying it in a huge explosion that rocks the ship a little, and scorching part of the deck. Fireworks go off above and bananas are scattered all over the hull. Cut to Bubbles covering her eyes; she then uncovers them to look at the damage she indirectly caused. The Banana Bomber is now unusable for its intended use.)
Bubbles: Oopsy-daisy. (pause for a moment; she then erupts into peals of giggles at the funny she made.)
(Cut to inside the bridge. Some of the monkey crewmen laugh at Bubbles' quip too. Mojo and Captain Pongo are unamused, fed-up with the loss of their most powerful weapon and the mess on their ship.)
Mojo and Captain Pongo: ENOUGH!
(The monkeys stop laughing.)
Monkey crewman 1: (under his breath) It was kinda funny.
Monkey crewman 2: (looks out the window) S-sirs! The Banana Bomber has been destroyed!
Monkey crewman 3: (at the radar) The cannon's a wreck! We can't use it!
Captain Pongo: (growls in frustration) How did that little squeaky toy ruin our best weapon?!
Mojo: Looks can be deceiving, Captain Pongo! Bubbles is cute, but monstrous at her core. Hardcore.
Captain Pongo: (holding a walkie-talkie) Pursuit commander, have you taken care of Blossom yet?
(Back outside to the deck. The lead jeep driver is also holding a walkie-talkie while driving.)
Lead driver: Not yet, sir! But she'll exhaust herself soon, I'm sure!
(A view of the deck; Blossom is running in circles around the mast with the jeeps hot on her heels. Contrary to the lead driver's comment, she shows no signs of fatigue.)
Second driver: I'm gonna blow her head off! (he fires tomatoes from a rail gun at Blossom; she weaves around to avoid them. The tomatoes end up splattering this way and that, some of them bouncing off the walls and hitting a few jeeps, causing them to crash.)
Third driver: I'm gonna ram 'er!
(He shifts into high gear while grinning, just barely catching up with Blossom. The chase comes to a turn; Blossom easily makes the turn by weaving sharply. The driver chasing her tries to turn, but it's too late. The jeep crashes into the mast, leaving the driver bruised and bemused, and his vehicle a smoldering wreck. The lead driver is taken aback by his squad's rather embarrassing failures; he shoots a glare at Blossom.)
Blossom: (looks behind her) You guys just don't know when to quit, do you?
Lead driver: (with urge) Oh no, we've only begun to fight! (snaps his fingers)
(A few drivers nod and press buttons; their rail guns lock onto Blossom and shoot coconuts at her. They narrowly miss her, hitting the deck and punching holes in the floor behind her each time. The convoy starts to catch up with her; a larger jeep in particular has its flamethrower spewing a flame like a blowtorch. Blossom isn't fazed, continuing to play it cool.)
Blossom: Oh, please.
(She lets out a lungful of her ice breath, colliding with the flamethrower's flame. The driver tries to push the ice blast back, but the flame is overwhelmed and extinguished. Blossom then aims her ice breath at the deck behind her; the loss of traction causes most of the jeeps to spin out, slamming into each other and causing tons of damage. Some of them crash into the mast, others are sent plummeting into the city streets below. The monkeys yelp and cry out in terror. Blossom admires her handiwork, then looks forward and notices the lead driver waiting in front of her, giving a wicked grin.)
Lead driver: You'll never escape! Time to go night-night!
(He laughs and pulls a lever; a cannon appears from the back of his jeep and fires a red, mechanical bird-shaped bullet with a key on its back; its wings flap rapidly as it flies towards Blossom. She gasps and quickly turns around, zipping away with the bird running her down like a cheetah on a gazelle. Top view of the deck; the pink streak of Blossom and the red streak of the bird run rings around the mast several times. Back to Blossom, unable to shake the bird.)
Blossom: I've got to lose this thing. But how? (She begins thinking; after a moment, she looks at the mast, and a brainstorm hits her full force. She calls out to the bird.) Follow me!
(She flies up o.c. The bird gives chase with an extra beat of its wings. Blossom starts to slow her flying speed as she reaches the top of the mast. The bird circles over her head. At the top, Blossom gives a smug smile. The bird flutters over her head, poised to explode; she zips out of the way just in time. With a final wing flap, the bird smashes into the crow's nest and detonates upon impact, causing the mast to slowly collapse like a felled tree. Cut to the lead driver, who laughs triumphantly, thinking he finally destroyed his target. A shadow looms over him and he stops laughing. He looks up to see the mast about to fall right onto him. Blossom floats next to it.)
Blossom: Look out below!
Lead driver: (looking up, wide-eyed and terrified of what's about to happen) Mother. (he quickly makes his exit)
(The mast finally collapses onto the deck, flattening any abandoned and destroyed jeeps in its way and causing them to explode. Pieces of broken wood fall to the ground below. Blossom dusts her hands with a satisfied smile. Cut to Captain Pongo; his eye twitching from this disastrous turn of events.)
Captain Pongo: (about to blow his top) What is wrong with you people? (yells at top volume) YOU CAUSED MORE DAMAGE THAN THOSE GIRLS DID!
(The crewmen flinch from the captain's yelling. Mojo rolls his eyes.)
Mojo: Welcome to my world in which I go through this every day.
(A monkey dressed in cabin boy's uniform appears next to Captain Pongo with a bag of candy. He speaks with a nervous stutter.)
Cabin boy: S-Sir, do calm down. Remember your blood pressure. (presents the bag of candy to Captain Pongo) H-Here, how about some c-candy?
Captain Pongo: (swats at the cabinboy) I don't want your candy! Get out of here!
Cabin boy: Y-Yes sir! (he quickly salutes and runs away)
Monkey crewman: Don't worry, sirs! We roughed 'em up pretty good! They've gotta be gettin' tired!
Monkey crewman 2: (looking at the radar) I dunno. I think we're just making them madder.
(Outside; Buttercup is locked in a dogfight with the egg-shooting jet-barrels. She zig-zags around, firing her eye lasers at several of them and downing them. One of them tails Buttercup.)
Lead barrel pilot: (firing his egg turrets) This is your day to die, Powerpuff!
Buttercup: (as she doubles back and shoots down a few more jet-barrels) Sure it is, with your big lame dorky jets!
Lead barrel pilot: Big?!
Barrel pilot 2: Lame?!
Barrel pilot 3: Dorky?!
Captain Pongo: (not standing to be insulted) We'll see who's big, lame and dorky, you little BRAT! Fire torpedoes!
(Cut to inside the ship; monkey crewmen are loading banana-shaped torpedoes into launchers. One of them is heard repeating the captain's order as this happens. View of the side of the ship; the torpedoes are fired, aimed at Buttercup.)
Buttercup: Woah!
(She quickly takes off. She look behind her, then gets an idea. She laughs and turns right around, darting right in between the jet-barrel squadron as they fire volley after volley of eggs at her. They notice that they've been had just in time.)
Barrel pilot: Yipe! Evasive maneuvers!
(They scatter to avoid the torpedoes. One of them catches up to Buttercup and detonates; she is covered in banana peels, but otherwise unharmed. She looks at herself and groans in disgust.)
Captain Pongo: (gives a cruel chuckle) Plenty more where that came from. Again!
(The launchers fire a second round of torpedoes. They fly close behind the first volley. Buttercup looks behind her, not willing to get littered again.)
Buttercup: Oh, you're in for it now! (she turns and flies full speed at the torpedo closest to her, delivering a full-force punch. The torpedo reels from the impact and blows up; the shockwave causing the rest of the torpedoes to detonate into yellow fireworks. Her mood improves when she sees this.) Woohoo! Told ya I rocked, dingbats!
Captain Pongo: (sporting a sadistic smirk) Oh really? Prepare to fire aga-
(He is cut off by an explosion that shakes the camera. Outside; an eye laser beam flashes into view from o.c., tracing across the torpedo launchers and melting them. The crewmen manning the launchers duck and cover. Buttercup watches in astonished puzzlement. Bubbles twirls into view.)
Bubbles: Ta-dah! (she bows)
Buttercup: Way to go, Bubbles!
Bubbles: Oop! Almost forgot!
(She flies o.c. to the other side of the ship to take care of the torpedo launchers on the right side. Buttercup looks behind her to see the surviving jet-barrels resuming the chase.)
Buttercup: Sweet! I'll just smoke the rest of these bird-brained dorks.
Lead barrel pilot: (his patience finally run out, bangs on the control panel with each utterance of his next words) WILL! YOU! STOP! SAYING! THAT!
(The jet barrels zoom after Buttercup, throwing everything they've got at her. She swiftly dodges the eggs as they crack and splatter onto the ship. She hastily looks around the hull for a possible opening to the generator room. Then something clicks in her head, and she turns to the camera.)
Buttercup: Duh.
(She proceeds to burst right through the hull, leaving a gaping hole. The jet barrel pilots chasing her notice the wall they're about to fly into too late and panic. They crash into the hull, destroying the jet-barrels and leaving impact silhouettes burnt into the paint job. The pilots descend to Earth with thankfully-convenient parachutes.)
Lead barrel pilot: (crossing his arms, having finally given up) I should've gone to art school.
(Back to the bridge.)
Monkey crewman: Sir! Buttercup's breached the hull!
Captain Pongo: What?! How did she get in?! (grabs a walkie-talkie) Security! We need to keep that crazy brunette away from the generator! I want you lubbers down there at once! Shoot on sight!
(Cut to a group of monkey guards rushing in as he gives the order, armed with what look like wooden tommy guns. Switch to Buttercup flying through a corridor, looking around for a way to the generator. She then looks ahead of her; the monkey guards appear in front of her, their guns pointed at her.)
Monkey guard: There she is! Get her, lads!
(The monkeys open fire with oranges. Buttercup dodges them easily, and they explode into juice upon impact. She gives a wicked grin and starts ripping into the guards, launching a series of crushing blows. Those spared from the flood of abuse take cover behind crates and unload on her. She cartwheels out of the line of fire towards a vent. She blows a raspberry at the guards before bursting through the vent grate. A guard with a black eye from the earlier beating fires in vain into the opening before pulling out a walkie-talkie.)
Monkey guard 2: Security to bridge, she's in the ventilation system!
Monkey crewman: (at the radar) She made it through the first line!
Mojo: Hmmm. If meeting her surely inevitable doom is what she wants, then let us accommodate her by sending in the attack robots!
Captain Pongo: Mecha-Mojos, away!
(Inside the ducts; Buttercup flies down the chute, looking dead ahead. Shift to her perspective; a horde of red-eyed Mojo-shaped robots, the Mecha-Mojos, pop out of the floor and ceiling in front of her. She comes to a stop. They assume menacing attack positions, arm cannons loaded and pointed at Buttercup. She stands with her arms crossed, not intimidated in the slightest.)
Buttercup: Boooriiing.
(She takes off and lays into the Mecha-Mojos in classic Buttercup fashion; punches, kicks, headbutts and bursting through them. The mechs try to brace and attack, but to no avail. One robot after another gets this in spades; The massacre ends with the smashed and dismembered machines lying in a broken pile, wires dangling from their torsos and smoke wafting from their arm cannons. She stands in front of the pile covered in oil, and yawns. Back to the bridge; Mojo, Captain Pongo and the crewmen cannot believe their eyes.)
Monkey crewman: S-She's past the second line!
(Buttercup's voice is heard through an intercom.)
Buttercup: Hey, Mojo! (back to her in the duct, she is speaking into a microphone, still covered in oil) How about throwing in something hard, huh? Not much fun busting all your lame toys!
Mojo: (points to the intercom) If a challenge is what you want, then a challenge is what you shall get! Proceed…if you dare.
(Buttercup zips away and continues down her path. Cut to the engine room, where the monkey guards from earlier have fallen asleep near the generator. A loud crash is heard; the guards wake up with a start and turn in the direction of the noise. Shift to the reason; Buttercup has broken the door down, having caught the guards completely by surprise. She has her arms crossed, playing it cool.)
Buttercup: S'up?
(The guards look at Buttercup, then they glance at each other. After a few seconds, they lift up large wrenches, let out their best battle cries and charge. Buttercup gives a smirk and charges too, giving the monkey guards a good old butt-kicking. The guards put up a surprisingly decent fight, scoring quite a few hits with their fists and wrenches. The trades of blows continue until Buttercup slides backwards, her head lowered. After a few seconds, she raises her head. She appears to be none the worse for wear.)
Buttercup: Nice! That almost hurt!
(The guards are at a loss for words; after a moment, they growl in anger as they clutch their wrenches. They scream and launch themselves at Buttercup. She darts up and sharply descends feet-first. She then delivers a double-kick to the guards, one to each face. Both monkeys tumble and slide across both sides of the room, and groan wearily after they stop. Buttercup lands and cracks her neck. She looks quite proud of herself. The guards groan and sit up, rubbing their aching heads. They then face Buttercup. A brief pause.)
Buttercup: Boo!
(The guards scream and run out of the room through the door frame, dropping their wrenches. Cut to the bridge. The crew is beginning to panic.)
Monkey crewman: (freaking out) THE LAST LINE HAS BEEN BREACHED!
Captain Pongo: (in disbelief) These girls are psychotic…
Mojo: I warned you before we took off! I know all too well what the Powerpuff Girls are capable of! But did you listen? I think not!
Monkey crewman 2: What do we do now?! The generator's a sitting duck!
Monkey crewman 3: We'll be screwed for sure!
Captain Pongo: (in deep thought) Wait… I thought of something. (chuckles cruelly before walking o.c., no doubt coming up with a plan to finish the girls once and for all.)
(Back to Buttercup in the generator room; she stares at the generator as her eyes start to glow red. She is charging her heat vision at full power.)
Buttercup: Ha. Too easy. (before she can open fire, something huge crashes through the ceiling and lands in front of her. She looks in surprise.) Huh?
(Dust from the impact starts to clear, revealing a huge spider-like robot with three legs ending in wide feet shaped like wrecking balls. Zoom in to reveal the one controlling the machine; it's Captain Pongo. The robot and its pilot appear to be a play on "spider monkey". He lets out a maniacal laugh, confident that his secret weapon will put an end to the girls' meddling for good.)
Captain Pongo: Buttercup, you're finished!
(He presses a button; the faceplate opens, revealing a machine gun, complete with scope laser. He points it at Buttercup, poised for the kill. Buttercup braces herself with a grin, eager to finally have a challenge.)
Buttercup: Oho, now we're talkin'!
(She charges and starts punching and kicking the large machine, leaving small dents in the armor; this does nothing to deter the robot. All the while, Captain Pongo tries to crush Buttercup with steps from his mech's wrecking ball legs. She narrowly dodges them each time. She delivers sharp kicks to the robot's legs, almost making it keel over before regaining its footing. Captain Pongo turns red in the face, growling with rage. He aims the scope laser at Buttercup, and the robot's machine gun rapidly fires a barrage of projectiles at her. Buttercup looks behind her, the volley of explosive rounds taking her by surprise. She zig-zags as the gunfire trails her around the room, punching some more dents in the robot's armor as she goes; the projectiles leave burning craters in the floor as they miss their target. The robot's head turns a full 360 degrees as it fires upon Buttercup. It eventually stops, smoke billowing from the nozzle; Captain Pongo shudders angrily and snaps.)
Captain Pongo: SAY BYE-BYE, POWERPUFF!
(The robot lifts one leg up. Buttercup looks up, a shadow being casted over her. The foot slams onto her, seemingly crushing her. Captain Pongo looks down and roars with triumphant laughter, thinking he finally destroyed the Powerpuff Girls' toughest fighter. After a few moments, his celebration is interrupted by the robot shaking.)
Captain Pongo: Wha-?
(He looks down. Cut to one of the robot's feet shuddering. After a few seconds, the foot rises up, revealing something to be lifting it up from underneath; it's Blossom.)
Blossom: I think you forgot something, Captain!
Captain Pongo: What?!
(Another foot is lifted up. This time, it's Bubbles.)
Bubbles: Yep! We're the Powerpuff Girls!
Captain Pongo: Wha-? How did..?
(Finally, Buttercup rises up, lifting the last foot. She is unscathed from the stomp.)
Buttercup: We ain't a team for nothin', monkey boy!
(Captain Pongo begins to panic, in utter disbelief that even his last resort was a failure.)
Captain Pongo: No! No! NOOO!
(Nothing daunted, the girls toss the captain's mech across the room; it collides with a wall and is junked upon impact, its legs twitching and smoke billowing from the exhaust. Captain Pongo emerges from the wreckage, suffering from a black eye and singed fur, but still alive. He growls in pain as he tries to force himself to his feet. He looks ahead, his face plagued with fear. Cut to the girls right in front of him.)
Bubbles: (waving) Oh, Mr. Monkey!
Buttercup: Check this out!
(They turn around and dive right through the generator. Captain Pongo screams in terror; he knows what's coming and is helpless to stop it. The engine room is engulfed in a huge explosion; the captain seemingly perishes in the fireball. Cut to the outside of the airship; the explosion burns a hole near the main hull and jolts the ship off-kilter. As it rights itself, the lights in the cabin flicker before going out entirely. The engines cease their ominous roar as well. With the generator destroyed, the ship is powerless. Cut to the bridge; the eyes of Mojo and his crew are the only things visible in the darkness.)
Mojo: (annoyed) What was that?
Monkey crewman 1: The generator has been destroyed! All systems and engines down!
Monkey crewman 2: We're junked! Our plan's down the gutter!
Mojo: Silence! (he whips out a large flashlight and turns it on, illuminating his body) We may have lost our artillery, our air force and our guards, but as long as I, Mojo Jojo, have blood in my veins and power in my brain, we shall not fail! (as his minions turn on flashlights of their own) Rise up, my crew! The Powerpuff Girls cannot defeat us so easily in total darkness! We have the advantage of the element of surprise! They will expect nothing!
(Mojo and his minions look around, the beams from their flashlights pointing in all directions.)
Monkey crewman: (whispering as quietly as he can) Keep your eyes open.
(After severa seconds of searching, close-up of one of the crewmen. He walks backwards as he searches the bridge for any sign of the girls. The camera follows him as he backs up. Pan to show Blossom hanging upside-down right behind him, with beams of red light emanating from her eyes.)
Blossom: Hi!
(The crewman realizes that he has company. He looks behind him nervously.)
Monkey crewman: Hello.
(Blossom tackles him to the ground. Cut to another crewman who saw the surprise attack.)
Monkey crewman 2: They're here!
(He turns to his right to see Bubbles upside-down as well; she too has eye beams shining on him.)
Bubbles: Peekaboo!
(She flies into him as well. Cut to a third crewman who panics and looks right above him; his flashlight reveals Buttercup hanging from the ceiling, eye beams of her own shining down on the hapless primate.)
Buttercup: Gotcha!
(She pins the third crewman down as she says this. The rest of the crew start to panic.)
Monkey crewman 3: Abandon ship! Let's get out of here!
(The remaining monkeys make a break for the door, screaming for their lives. Mojo stands his ground.)
Mojo: Very well! So be it! Run along and flee like the cowards that you are! Do as you please! I will stay and fight to the end! For I, Mojo Jojo, am the sworn mortal enemy of the Powerpuff Girls! I shall never back down! I will not cease and desist until my plan is complete! Somehow or other, out of the ashes of Independence Day shall rise…MOJO DAY!
(He swoops his cape back and strikes a pose for dramatic effect. The girls stand before him, unfazed by his big repetitive speeches as usual. Pause for a moment.)
Blossom: You could stand to be a little more creative, Mojo. We fought your monkey army back when we first met, remember?
Bubbles: But it was fun blowing up all your weapons!
Buttercup: And what's with the banana peels and eggs anyway? Didn't know you guys were into food fights. (she and her sisters share a good laugh at Mojo's expense)
Mojo: (snaps) Oh, what do you know?! I have no need for legions of loyal subjects, nor superior firepower! With my mighty intellect, this holiday will be mine to shape as I see fit! And the best part? (switches his flashlight for his blaster) You won't get in the way!
(The final battle begins. The girls charge and begin their traditional beating. Mojo retaliates by firing away with his blaster. The girls zip out of the line of fire each time; the blasts shoot through the ceiling. Cut to outside the ship; the bursts can be seen being shot through the ceiling; they explode into yellow-orange fireworks. A view of the townsfolk in the city streets below; they watch the display in awe and amazement. They seem to have witnessed the whole thing from the beginning. Cut back to the bridge; the girls continue to score pot shots at Mojo. They easily dodge his continuous laser blasts.)
Blossom: Yeah, pretty basic Mojo stuff. Let's just wrap it up and head back to the Professor's barbecue.
Bubbles: Sounds good!
Buttercup: Yeah!
(They hold hands and fly up through one of the blasted-through holes in the ship. A view of the vessel from outside; the girls fly down and start quickly looping around it upwards, like the mechanical bird chasing Blossom earlier. As soon as they get to the top, they take aim. Cut to Mojo, who finally resigns himself to his fate.)
Mojo: Aw, nuts.
(Back to outside the ship as the girls crash straight into it. The once-mighty Kong-queror combusts in a violent explosion of fireworks, signalling the start of the show's finale. Down on the street, the townsfolk cheer and applaud; Townsville is saved once again, and with possibly their greatest fireworks show yet as a bonus. Cut to the Mayor still watching the spectacle from his office window, with Ms. Bellum nearby.)
Mayor: Hoo boy! What did I tell you, Ms. Bellum? Our best fireworks show yet!
Ms. Bellum: Well, I'll admit, even I'm wrong once in a while, Mayor.
(Back outside; two beings are seen in the sky, descending with parachutes. A close-up reveals them to be Mojo and Captain Pongo, who miraculously survived the destruction of the generator room. Both of them slowly descend from the sky with their parachutes, covered head to toe in soot from the fiery explosion.)
Mojo: (weakly) Curses.
Captain Pongo: (bitterly) My lord? Remind me never to work with you again.
(Cut to the girls watching the fireworks where Mojo's ship used to be.)
Bubbles: Yay! This is the best fourth of July ever!
Buttercup: (kicking back) You said it. Kicking Mojo's butt and watching the fireworks! Nothin' better than that.
Blossom: Yep! Happy Independence Day, girls!
(Back view of the girls as they watch the fireworks finale. It's a brilliant sight to behold indeed. Some of them explode in the shape of a heart.)
Narrator: A very happy Independence Day indeed! And quite the explosive one at that.
(The standard end shot comes up.)
Narrator: And so, once again, the day is saved, thanks to the Powerpuff Girls!
THE END
