Marinette sat happily knitting in her flower. The spiders were always kind to give her extra silk, and in turn she sewed little clothes for the folk of the garden. But Marinette felt hot, and even her wings couldn't keep her cool. She slide down from her flower, staring up at the bright sun.
She headed over to Mushroom Meadow where Cat Noir lived and the mushrooms grew in a ring. Marinette smiled as she fluttered over, for there would be shade under the mushroom caps. But alas, Cat Noir and some of the other fairies were already here, playing a game of leapfrog! "Come leap with us, Knitting Fairy! Its Froggy Fun!" Marinette giggled. "I'd love to Cat, but I promised you I'd sew a new green bow tie for you. All I need is a bit of shade and some water to cool myself off. But alas, this shade is taken by your little frogs!"
Marinette walked on, hot but not defeated. Zoe, the bumblebee fairy was sure to know where some shade was, after all, she was always on the go, zooming from flower to flower! Heading over to the daffodils, Marinette smiled as saw the flowers moving. She opened her umbrella as a shower of nectar droplets fell from above. "Zoe, you have a moment?" she called.
Zoe popped her head out of the flower. "Bee right there!" She slide down the flower, hair fuzzy with pollen. "How can I help you?" "Oh, Zoe, I promised you I'd make a leaf umbrella, but its so hot, I need a cool drink and some shade!" "If you buzz back in a hour or three, the flowers will be casting shade. You know how they love the sun!" Marinette sighed, wings drooping. "Okay. I'll see you soon!" "Good luck!"
Marinette wiped her sweaty brow. Would she ever find water and shade? She flew high above the grasses to take a look. Smoke from a small chimney rose above the grasses, and Marinette smiled. "Of course, Luka!"
Luka made stringed instruments and played at all the Garden Festivals. Gliding down lightly in front of his door, Marinette knocked the small green man's knocker. "Marinette, what can I do for you?" "Please, do you have a bit of shade and some water?" Luka smiled. "Follow me. I've been working on a project out back."
Marinette licked her lips as she followed Luka and saw the towering glass of cold water. "I may not have any shade, but I have a pool! Help yourself!"
Marinette dived into the pool, instantly refreshed. She felt better already! When she was done, she climbed down with the help of Luka. "So, what's your project?" "When the glass is at different levels, it makes different sounds. Listen!" Luka demonstrated, and Marinette closed her eyes, swaying to the music of the glass. "I'm working on something for the Summer Festival, but its not quite done yet!" "You wouldn't know where I could find some shade, do you? I've looked everywhere!" "How about in here, in my small little cottage?"
Marinette smiled. Soon, she had a glass of lemonade resting by her, as she worked away on her projects. The sun might be hot and make her thirsty, but the Knitting Fairy always came up with a solution!
