Escaping to Freedom

That evening, Peach finally had enough of everything. Toadsworth constantly telling her what to do, where to go, and how to dress. She hated being a princess and tonight, she was going to run away. Sure, she had to worry about Bowser finding her but it was better than being a slave to her own castle.

Toadette helped her lay out a civilian outfit: a light pink hoodie with a blue jewel on the right side, a gray short sleeved undershirt, dark pink sweats, white socks, and white running shoes. Toadette had also brought a magenta baseball hat and a white purse.

"What's the hat for?" Peach asked, taking off her tiara.

"To hide your face, just in case you are recognized." Toadette explained. "And the purse has a little bit of money in it, a map, and a phone."

Peach nodded as she stepped into the bathroom. Toadette waited, getting impatient a little bit. 'I hope Toadsworth doesn't catch on to this,' she thought, worried. Toadette squirmed in her chair as Peach came out of the bathroom a little bit later, wearing her civilian outfit.

However, her large blue earrings were drawing away from her disguise.

"I need different earrings," Peach stated.

Toadette reached into her bag, bringing out simple blue dangling earrings. They looked a lot like blue crystals.

She questioned, "Will these work?"

"Perfect!" Peach squealed, changing earrings. That's when she noticed that Toadette was squirming in her chair. "Are you alright?" She asked, worried.

Toadette looked up at Peach and answered, "I'm worried Toadsworth is gonna find us and blow a gasket."

"I am too," Peach confessed. "But I am done. All that is left now is to leave."

Toadette looked at her as she questioned, "But where will you go, Your Majesty?"

Peach thought for a moment and replied, "Maybe to Daisy's. Just in case something comes up."

The two walked outside, the night air cold. The stars were high in the sky as the crescent moon seemed to have welcomed them. Toadette looked at Peach, knowing that she had not been out that much. Peach was in awe, mostly because of the moon.

"Peach?" Toadette asked, a bit concerned.

Peach looked at her for a moment then back at the moon. It was just so big!

She finally broke her silence and questioned, "Is this what I've been missing all of my life? This amazing world? Screw Toadsworth! I'm going to explore it!"

Toadette suddenly felt herself being hugged. She looked and saw Peach. She was a bit puzzled by the sudden hug but returned it nonetheless. Peach said a soft thank you and goodbye before leaving the castle.

"May the stars watch over you, Peach..." The female Toad whispered as she disappeared into the night.

...

Peach had arrived into town in the morning. The Toads paid her no mind as they hustled and bustled. Peach was curious as to where they were all going and what they were all doing. She walked up to a Toad with green spots.

"Um excuse me?" Peach asked, seeing that the Toad was making a gown.

"Yes Miss?" Green asked, looking at her.

Peach kept the hat down, trying to avoid being spotted. She questioned, "What are you making this fine day?"

"A gown for the princess's coordination." Green informed her. "She is due to be crowned Queen and to be married to Peasley."

'Toadsworth never told me that he set me up with Peasley!' Peach thought, horrified. She didn't like Peasley, he was too self centered. 'Now I've got to run away!' Peach thought.

"Well thank you for the information! I've got to go!" Peach shouted, running down an alleyway.

"Wait, don't go down that way!" Green yelped.

But it was too late, Peach was already in the alley, going through a pipe.

"I don't know where this leads me but it has to be better than this nightmare!" She said out loud.

With all of her might, Peach pushed the pipe open, without a clue to where it was going to lead her...
