Brother, My Brother
Mario had been healing rather nicely, staying at Waluigi's. Wario never came over but Waluigi reassured Mario that it wasn't because of him.
"Then why doesn't he come over as much?" Mario asked, looking at his cousin.
Waluigi merely shrugged as he answered, "That's because we aren't as close as you two."
Mario couldn't argue with that. Luigi and him were as close as peanut butter and jelly when they were talking. But they weren't anymore. Mario didn't know where Luigi was... And even if he went to find Luigi, would he even talk to him? They had said so many hurtful things to one another...
"You are such a weakling! If it wasn't for you, Mom and Dad would still be alive!"
"Y-you really think that...?"
"If the shoe fits!"
Mario sighed sadly. He shouldn't have said all of those things to Luigi. He didn't mean it... He saw Waluigi on the phone, closing his eyes a tad. 'Luigi,' he thought, falling asleep.
...
"You can't get me, Malleo!" A six year old Luigi laughed.
"Wanna bet, Weegie?" Mario chuckled, following his younger brother.
The two of them were with their parents at the beach. Their parents watched from the side, smiling at the two. The two were playing tag, with Mario being it. The two ran around, laughing, without a care in the world. Everything was right. All of the sudden, the two of them looked to where their parents were sitting. But that's when they saw that their parents were not there anymore.
"Malleo...?" Luigi asked, scared.
Mario gasped of pure terror. That's when the earth started to shake, causing a tremor between the two. Mario saw Luigi was now 15 years old, looking the way he did when they had their fight.
"Weegie!" Mario yelped, terrified.
"You were really mean to me, Mario..." Luigi stated, the tears rolling down his face. His cap was covering his eyes, his head down towards the ground.
"I didn't mean it, Luigi! I am so sorry!" Mario pleaded, running over to his brother. But that's when he saw that there was a see-through glass wall in between them. Mario pounded on it, in a full panic. "Weegie!" He yelped.
"Farewell Malleo..." Luigi said softly as the ground gave in on Luigi's side, sliding him down to points unknown.
"LUIGI!" Mario yelled.
...
"Mario, wake up!" Waluigi pleaded, shaking Mario.
Mario sat up, panting hard from his nightmare, putting his right hand to his face.
"S-sorry, I had another nightmare about Weegie..." He explained, his tears flowing down to the ground.
"About that..." Waluigi started to say.
Mario looked at him and asked, "What do you mean?"
Waluigi answered, "That was Luigi on the phone. He always talks to me..."
That's when Waluigi cringed when Mario grabbed his shirt as he demanded, "Where is he?!"
"He's at his college, Brook College." Waluigi informed.
"I have to go there!" Mario stated, trying to get up.
But Mario was forced down by the extend of his injuries. He groaned in pain.
"Careful, you are still healing," Waluigi replied, calmly.
Mario gritted his teeth as he responded, "I have to get to Luigi..." Waluigi sighed as he knew that there was no talking Mario out of it. He got Mario up slowly, Mario looking at him in complete confusion. "What are you doing?" Mario asked.
"I am helping you," Waluigi answered, getting Mario outside.
"Thanks." Mario muttered, the tears in his eyes.
"Shut up," Waluigi hissed a little.
Mario couldn't help but smile.
...
The two of them were on the road after a bit. Waluigi had told Luigi that he was on the way to visit. He said nothing about Mario or the fight between him and Wario.
"I will tell you this, Luigi." Waluigi said over the phone before they left. "This person that I am bringing may bring a smile to your face or you may want to deck him."
Waluigi was currently in the present, looking over at the sleeping Mario. He was snoring a little bit but he was a lot better. Waluigi smiled a bit.
"But he needs you. And you need him, whether you like it or not. So you better enjoy this...or chew me out later. But at least you have him by your side, unlike what I have with Wario."
"...you are bringing Mario?"
"...yeah...I am."
