Lindsay Choi sighed as she tucked her light brown hair behind her ear. Everyone had a path, everyone had a role. That was the life of the hunter. But with her mother as the Head Healer, everyone automatically assumed that she would follow in her footsteps, but the truth of the matter was that she didn't want to. She longed for the thrill and adventure of being a hunter. Sure, being a healer was safer, but being safe was boring. She saw the way the hunters in training got to conduct themselves, heard the way they talked down to the healers and healers in training. Sure, she had a knack for healing, but she was also skilled in combat and knew if she tried she could prove herself on the field. The doorbell rang and Lindsay snapped out of her thoughts. She had thrown on the television for background noise, and made her way to the front door. There, she saw one Axel Mackenzie. He was the Clan Leader's son, but something looked off. His normally neatly styled brown hair was askew, and well, the shiner on his right eye was a clear indicator that he had been in a fight. He had always come to her afterwards, trusting Lindsay to be discreet.
"We have to stop meeting like this," Lindsay teased as she opened the door wider.
Axel smirked slightly. "Please, you know you love it." He said, clutching his stomach as he stepped inside.
"What happened this time?" Lindsay asked as she followed him further into her own home. She wanted to reach out and help him walk, as he seemed to be struggling. But, she knew him and knew that it was the last thing that he wanted.
"Doesn't matter," Axel groaned as he plopped on the couch. "Is anything broken?"
Lindsay pursed her lips as Axel lifted his shirt, and she could see definite bruising on his stomach. She knew Axel wouldn't have been stupid enough to go after a vampire himself, he wasn't old enough to be a hunter in training and therefore trusted with an enchanted ring. But that didn't mean he couldn't have stolen one.
"Tell me you didn't," Lindsay demanded, her mouth agape.
Axel smirked, and held out his hand, in it was a silver banded ring with a green gem in the middle, and Lindsay immediately recognized it as the one that had belonged to Axel's father, who had been killed in a vampire raid not even a year ago. "I did," he said, sounding a little too proud of himself.
"Axel!" Lindsay exclaimed. "You could have been killed!"
Axel shrugged. "You should see the other guy."
Lindsay stared at him in shock, how could he be so reckless? To go and fight a vampire all by himself! Surely the fifteen-year-old had a death wish.
"I killed him," Axel clarified. He locked eyes with Lindsay, their dark brown eyes glued to each other.
"That's…"
"Impossible?" Axel cut in. "Hardly. Now, are you going to heal me up, or what?"
Lindsay shook her head. "I can't be part of this, you have to go, now."
"Linds…" Axel trailed off. She had never turned him down before, but in the past it had been minor scuffles within the clan, never against a vampire.
"You know the rules, as well as I do. Griffin's going to be furious," Lindsay pleaded. "I don't want to get in trouble."
"Fine." Axel said as he sat up. "Thanks for nothing." He grumbled out as he stood, clutching his side once again. The second Axel was gone, Lindsay checked the couch for any signs of weapons or the ring she knew Axel had stolen. She knew she should tell Griffin about what Axel had done, if he were able to sneak out and do that the Council would surely replace Griffin as Regent Clan Leader, and assign Axel a new guardian, hopefully someone capable of keeping the boy out of trouble. But then that would mean more change for Axel and their clan. And Griffin seemed nice enough, they could get someone worse. She ultimately knew it wouldn't matter whether or not she told, those injuries were too severe for Axel to hide, and Griffin would get the truth out of him. She just hoped Axel wouldn't mention her.
Thanks for checking out my story! I had written a version of this once when I was a teen, years ago, and it was awful and cringey. So, I've decided to re-vamp it, and hopefully get some characters in!
The world building for vampires and werewolves will stay the same, however, the world building for Hunters will be explained below. Then I'll post a list of submittable characters.
World Building For Hunters
The Council
The Council is a group composed of high ranking, experienced Hunters. They oversee the clans across North America and ensures that each clan has supplies, is well trained, and is performing their duties and not abusing their power.
Clan Leader
The person responsible for overseeing a clan. They are in charge of the day-today operations as well as reporting back to the Council.
Deputy Clan Leader
They are the second in command, reporting directly to the Clan Leader. Their purpose is as a check and balance, giving everyone a second person to report to, should the Clan Leader be corrupt.
Weapons Master
Is responsible for caring for weapons, ordering weapons, basically anything to do with weapons.
Head Healer
As the name would suggest, they are the one in charge of the healing centre on-site, they also oversee the training of new healers.
Hunter
A person tasked with purging the world of the dangerous supernatural. Their role is to protect mankind, even from werewolves if they step out of line. As time progresses and more vampires are taking on a "vegetarian diet", they monitor these groups of vampires and ensure they do not bring harm to humans.
Healer
Sort of like a military medic, they go along on missions, but their main role is to provide first aid and healing services to the members of the group.
Submittable Characters (Hunters):
Regent Clan Leader: Axel's father was the previous clan leader, killed in an attack. His mother died in chidlbirth. - ask before submitting this role
Any of the other positions of leadership, I'd even be willing to have someone else make Lindsay's parents, and maybe even a sibling if they're so inclined!
Submittable Characters (Vampires): Okay, so this is where it gets a liiitle tricky. Since the main vampires will be a "family" of vampires, kind of like the Cullens. So it will require the creators to coordinate. I will figure out how to make this work. If you want to make plain old evil vampires, go for it.
Submittable Characters (Werwolves): I'd pretty much be okay with anything.
Due to the nature of this story, I'm going to ask that you send me your character idea before you submit. It doesn't have to be a long message, just send me the general gist of your character and we can discuss!
