Howdy folks. Been a while, huh? Sorry for the absence, I've just been preoccupied with other things. I'll try and get back into the swing of things here eventually. Though I did come up with this little one-shot that I figured I would post here as well as on Deviantart. (Yes, I am on deviantart.) It isn't long by any means, I just wrote it because I was bored and wanted to have fun.

Not much else to say. Enjoy. ;)

DAY 1

My name is Olimar; Captain of the S.S. Dolphin. I have been met with a tragic twist of fate. I had finally gotten time off from my job and decided to take a leisurly cruise through the stars. However, I was caught off guard by an asteroid and crash landed on an unfamiliar planet. I had initially lost consciousness when my ship was struck. When I awoke, my beautiful ship had been utterly destroyed. Its pieces scattered who knows where across this planet.

My first course of action was to collect the missing pieces of my ship and repair it. Alas, my bad luck had not yet run out just yet. Just as I was about to begin my search, I was met with a gargantuan creature. Its species seemed similar to my own, even possessing clothing. They had brown bushy hair atop their head, thick glasses, and a green sweater. I was unable to escape as they grabbed me and my ruined ship, speaking in a language I could not comprehend.

They then took me into a large structure and placed me in a glass prison, separate from The Dolphin. I have to escape, and repair my ship so I can leave this planet and see my beloved wife and children on Hocotate once again. I am too tired to attempt anything of the sort now… I will begin my efforts to break free of this prison tomorrow.

.

DAY 2

I have been delivered good news and bad news.

The bad news? This planet's atmosphere is filled with the deadliest gas known to my species: Oxygen. My life support systems were damaged in the crash landing, I should only be able to survive on this planet for 28 more days before they fail. Escape from this nightmare is a higher priority than ever before.

The good news? I may not be alone in this endeavor after all. When I had awoken, the creature that had captured me had begun preparing various instruments and tools. It's clear that this creature is no mindless beast. No, it is clearly a higher lifeform that had plans to study me and perform experiments. Before it could actually begin its twisted machinations, a call from a similar creature, perhaps the alpha in their society, called them away. I used the time alone to try and escape my prison. But then yet another creature found me.

They were a similar size to the first, but had blonde hair covered by a red hat. Their face was covered in mud. I feared that this creature would be more violent and unrefined than the first. But it was surprisingly compassionate. They spoke to me in a way that a mother would speak to their child or someone would a pet. Honestly, it was quite humiliating. Though, I am rather grateful for their efforts in freeing me from the glass box.

They took me to another room in the fortress, where I was then placed near a large number of other creatures. They were nowhere near as large as my rescuer, but still very massive. A large serpent tried to swallow me, but the giant stopped them. They kept trying to speak to me, but the language barrier left me unable to communicate with the giant.

Eventually, they left. For what reason, I do not know. But before they returned, I encountered another giant that was the spitting image of them. Except less dirty and covered in the color pink. Perhaps they were royalty of some kind? They saw me and let out a blood curdling shriek.

In a matter of moments, more giants appeared, including the spectacled wearing one, and they tried to recaptured me. But the one in the red hat rushed in and… They protected me. I did not understand much of what they were all saying, but I could tell that they were arguing about my fate. I think I even learned a few of their names…

The one who first captured me was referred to as "Lisa". The princess: "Lola". And my savior: "Lana". Lana seemingly pleaded with the largest of the giants to spare me, and fortunately they agreed to release me into her care. It was a long day, but perhaps it shall serve as a ray of hope going forward. Lana even got me some food to satisfy my growing hunger. Hopefully I'll be able to consume it if I am carefully enough. Hopefully, Lana will prove helpful in my escape. For now, I have nothing else I can do besides rest in the little bed the giant made me…

…From what I can only assume is an unwashed sock.

.

DAY 3

I decided that my first order of business to ensure success was to secure Lana's aide in finding the missing pieces of my ship and repairing it. But to do that, I had to find some way to properly communicate with them. Words, written and spoken, were out of the question. My only hope was that the giant was able to understand visual imagery and drawings to receive my plea for help. I started by using the transparent spherical vehicle of a nearby rodent to represent my ship and a number of colorful rocks as the missing parts. I careened it into a nearby structure with all my might, spent some time reloading the rocks into the vehicle, and prayed the giant would understand the message.

I was, let's say, semi successful in my efforts. It didn't fully understand what I wanted. However, it did realize I was trying to communicate. It then left me alone with the other lifeforms in its menagerie. The rodent I borrowed the vehicle from seemed to give me a glare of some kind. Perhaps I upset him? Nevertheless, when Lana returned, they gave me a large pointed rod and a material that seemed comparable to paper. After a brief test with the rod and finding it left markings, I knew we were on the verge of a breakthrough.

I drew out as much as I could. Me in my ship, the crash, the scattered parts, and my desire to escape and reunite with my family. I could tell from the giant's reaction, it understood perfectly. They took me and my drawing and showed it to my original captor. Upon taking a minute to process it, they gave us both a smile and a nod. I wasn't sure what this meant, my confusion not helped by my inability to understand their language. But Lana then took me outside of the structure with a bag of some sort. From there, we made massive progress.

With my direction and their size, we were able to search the massive fields surrounding the giant's den in no time at all. We found at least 12 parts in one day! Perhaps fortune has not abandoned me yet. Confident with the progress that was made, we took a rest for the remainder of the day. Our search for my ship parts will continue tomorrow.

.

DAY 4

Lana and I resumed our search for the parts of The Dolphin. Our search spread out to cover an even greater area, far greater than any I could have searched on my own two feet. Together, we have found nearly all of my ship's missing parts. There is only one remaining. The most crucial component; the main engine. We actually managed to find it, but it was scooped up by a gray creature with a striped tail. We followed it to what looked to be another giant's abode. The giant inside was large, somewhat rotund, balding with gray hair, and had a mustache under their large nose.

They reminded me of my boss.

Lana seemed to try bargaining with it to get my ship's engine back, but the larger giant refused adamantly. Lana took me back to their home and lamented their loss. I however, refused to give in so easily. I was on the cusps of success in fleeing this planet with time to spare. There had to be a way to reclaim what that ring-tailed beast and their master stole from me.

I'll spend the rest of the night devising a plan. And tomorrow, it shall hopefully prove fruitful.

.

DAY 5

Our mission to recover The Dolphin's main engine was a rousing success! When dawn broke, I explained to Lana my plan. They and a few of the other giants in their family unit distracted the greedy individual while I went with a few of their menagerie animals to abscond with it when their attention was diverted. Lana enlisted the aide of Lola and a giant with white hair on their head to help with this gambit. We returned to the greedy giant's lair and I was sent inside with a canine helper that Lana called a "Charles" through a hidden tunnel in the structure.

After some navigating, we found ourselves in a treasure hoard of various artifacts. Among them was The Dolphin's engine. We were about to claim it for ourselves, but were ambushed by the ring-tailed creature once again. It was a furious battle as the Charles and I both put everything on the line to claim my key to freedom. The beast certainly didn't fight fair, but I was fortunately able to prevail by luring it into a trap with my personal whistle. Too blinded by rage and a desire to banish us from its lair to notice a series of heavy objects tumble from above and knock it unconscious.

At last, we had done it. All the pieces of The Dolphin were gathered. And in just under a week as well. That should give me plenty of time to actually repair it before my life support systems fail. Before I turn in for the night, I think I'll scavenge around the giant's lair for a souvenir for my son. I'm sure he and the rest of my family would love to hear about this excursion.

.

DAY 6

I am writing this particular log entry as I fly back home to Hocotate far ahead of schedule. The reason? Why the giant that first captured me was far kinder than I had originally thought. I awoken to Lana covering my eyes. It seemed like she wanted to surprise me with something like a parent surprises a child.

I will say I was certainly surprised when I was brought outside and found my ship fully repaired. I dare say, it looked even better than when I first bought it. The giants, or at least the one with the glasses, must have been very mechanically inclined to have put it together. How they managed to do it without even so much as reading the user's manual (which should have been impossible considering the language barrier) is beyond me. But I did a full system check before take off, everything was perfect. So who am I to really complain.

All that was left was to say good bye to my kind hosts. Lana was certainly very emotional to part ways with me… I must admit, I am going to miss them. Perhaps I will come back to this planet and visit them again someday. Under far better circumstances of course.

But that is a thought for the future. For now, I count my lucky stars that a guardian angel saved me from what could have been a far worse fate.

Rest easy my beloved family… I will see you soon.
