Escalating to the Highest Heat

Mario and Luigi kept running, jumping from ship to ship. The armies were right behind them, catching up with them. Mario panted, hiding in a corner. Luigi was with him, the tears in his eyes. Mario looked at him, his stomach twisting instantly.

"I'm sorry, Weegie..." He apologized.

"Satoji died for us, Malleo..." Luigi started to sob.

Mario hugged Luigi as he sobbed softly on Mario's shirt. Mario held him close, letting his baby brother mourn his departed friend. The silence didn't last too long since the troops had found them yet again. Mario held Luigi close, holding out his hand. When he did, a red fireball came out of his head and hit a few of the troops. Luigi saw this and gasped in awe. Mario was in awe too.

"What the heck?" Mario asked, looking at his hands.

"What was that...?" Luigi questioned.

Mario shrugged as he got to his feet. Luigi did too as Mario threw a few more fireballs. The troops were hit by them rather hard. The troops also went after Luigi, whom was paralyzed with fear.

"Weegie, look out!" Mario yelped.

"Ah!" Luigi yelled, holding out his hands. "Leave me alone!"

As Luigi said that, a brilliant green lightning spark surrounded his hands. He shocked the troops with a brilliant green lightning. Luigi was shocked as was Mario. The troops retreated out of fear, getting away from the brothers quickly. Luigi looked at his hands as he shook with absolute fear.

"Are you okay?" Mario asked, placing his hand on Luigi's shoulder.

"Y-yeah but what was that, Malleo...?" Luigi answered, in awe.

"I wish I knew but we need to press on the attack to save Peach," Mario stated.

"What about Wario and Waluigi?" Luigi questioned, looking back briefly.

"They backstabbed us, bro," Mario replied, his attention looking forward. "We don't need them. We have each other again."

"So...you forgive me...?" Luigi asked, the hope apparent in his voice.

Mario turned to Luigi, seeing the tears coming into view. Mario hugged Luigi softly, earning a gasp of surprise from the green clad student.

"I should've never blamed you in the first place..." Mario answered, his whole body now shaking.

Luigi hugged his brother close, rubbing his back. Luigi started to cry as the two brothers held each other close, the rain now starting to hit their hats.

Peach scrunched her nose up as she looked at the wedding dress that Kammy lay out for her. She was in Wendy's bedroom, looking over the ugly dress. The dress was a light pink in color which had no shoulder straps, white pearls sown into them, a white trim at the bottom, white gloves, a light pink veil, and a beautiful set of light pink high heeled shoes.

She groaned at it. While it was long and beautiful, she wasn't looking forward to marrying Bowser. Peach thought, taking off her hat, 'I guess I no longer have a choice...' She looked at the dresser, seeing that Bowser had placed a rather large crown with various jewels on it. She sat on the bed, sniffling.

She had grown quite attached to Luigi in her short time she was in the Upper World. The tears started to flow freely as she cupped her hands and covered her face. She started to cry. She didn't want to marry Bowser. She wanted to marry...

"My dear sweet Peach, will you marry me?"

Peach looked up through her tears, seeing herself in a grassy hill. It was covered with yellow, white, and purple flowers with a sole tree. The man down on one knee was Luigi, whom was wearing a green suit with a white undershirt, a black tie, and black dress shoes. He had combed his hair nicely as his sapphire eyes were glistening.

She blushed, giggling softly as she answered, "But of course, my dear sweet Luigi..."

Luigi's smile brightened the area as he put the ring on her finger. It was a blue diamond ring and the diamond was such a perfect shape. Peach started to cry happily and was about to kiss Luigi. But that's when Peach felt daggers. She gasped as she saw that a knife went through Luigi's heart, killing him instantly.

"NO! Luigi!" She cried out, going to his aide, not noticing that her own right arm was badly injured. She got to his side and pleaded, "Luigi, no! Don't die on me! I want to spend my life with you!"

"You aren't spending your life with him!" A gruff voice boomed. Peach looked up, seeing that she was out of her fantasy and in a nightmare. Bowser had entered, wearing a black bowtie. "He ain't saving you and neither is that brother of his!"

"...Luigi is still alive...?" She asked, her hope returning in her eyes.
