[Anne Boleyn/Katherine Howard]
It's not a competition. But if it were, Anne thinks that Katherine might be the only one she'd need to watch. All six girls are amazing singers. And almost all six girls are great dancers. But Katherine...Katherine's a performer.
Her voice carries loud and clear across the theatre. With each chorus, her perfect sing-song breaks a little bit more. And with it, Anne's heart aches for her. But even in those emotional moments, Katherine remains a true pop princess. Even when her voice wavers, she keeps her chin high. Her eyes pierce the audience as her hips swing in from side to side.
She's enchanting.
Even after the show's over, Anne can't stop herself from stealing a glance at her. The Queens are sat in their dressing room. And while the other girls chat happily about the performance at their respective dressing tables, Katherine and Anne have found a moment for themselves. They're sat, their fingers inching towards each other's, on the only couch the room has to offer.
Anne can picture it. Shifting her thigh so that it might graze Katherine's. Reaching out, caressing the pale of her cheeks. Letting her fingers run through those neon pink locks... But she can't bring herself to do any of that, so she settles for resting her head on Katherine's shoulder. The rest, she thinks, can come later.
"You can touch me," Katherine murmurs. "I don't mind, honest."
"Oh. Really?" Anne tries not to sound too desperate. Then, hesitantly, she adds, "I don't want you to think I'm like them."
"I know you're diff…" Katherine trails off. Anne, head still on her shoulder, wonders if Katherine looks as heartbroken as she sounds. "I know you're not like that."
But Anne can think of nothing worse than becoming yet another verse in Katherine's song. And so, she keeps her hands to herself. If it means being different—truly different—she's happy to wait for Katherine to reach out first. She knows it'll be worth the wait.
