Crimson's Pov

Its been a few weeks since I found the dragon egg and it hatched. They have been very interesting few weeks to say the least. When the egg hatched I moved the baby dragon , to an old abandoned barn a few miles away . The barn was hidden from eye view by a mile of forest's wall . The barn was sitting on it own piece of private land , I found it about ten years ago and kept it to myself. Every day I would visit the baby dragon to feed it and keep it company. The dragon was a baby after all it needed someone to raise it . Today I was in the village market to require some meat for baby dragon. I have special a friendship with one of the meat boys named Charlie at the butcher shop , he would never tell my family what I was purchasing. Charlie question what I was doing with all this meat that I was buying , though I would always redirected the conversation and ask about his family. The market was busy today with people grabbing things for festivals in the next couple of days. I pushed open the door to the butcher shop and Charlie greets me with a smile .

" Good Evening Crimson , I see that you are back again for more meat. Where does all this meat go to , your skinny girl you can't be eating all of it" he asked me jokingly.

I give Charlie a fake offended look and jokingly reprimand him for his comment. " Mister Charlie I would think to know that you know commenting on a woman's weight or eating habits . It's not very gentlemen of you to ask that question.

Charlie's handsome dark facial features turned into mortification and a small blush came onto his face.

" Crimson i'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you!" He cried out to me.

I laughed a reply " It's ok Charlie , you didn't offend me, I was have a bit of funny with you".

Charlie sighed in relief and sagged a little" Oh thank goodness , I can't afford to offend my best customer. What would you like for today's order?".

" I Would like a cows thigh and and leg please" I say giving Charlie a small smile.

Charlie chuckles and nods his in my direction " One cow thigh and leg coming up" Charlie goes into the back to get my order of meat.

While I wait for Charlie to be done with my meat order , I couldn't help but feel like someone was staring at me. I turn my head back to the right to see a good looking tall scruffy man standing Beside a shelf and looking at me with his pericing blue eyes. I blush and turn back to the counter , just in time for Charlie to come back with my order. I pay Charlie the money I own him and lean forward a little bit on the counter top.

" Charlie do you know that man who is staring at me ? " I whisper to Charlie.

" I'm sorry Crimson I don't know who he is. He came in here just few minutes before you did , saying he was going to looking around for bit" Charlie replied with a frown.

I nod my head and take the meat from Charlie giving my thanks and head out of the store. As I step out of the store I hear people screaming " Orcs! There's orcs in the Village. I dropped the meat that I just bought and high tailed it back to my families farm. During my run I notice no orc's following me . I slow down to catch my breath , when I find myself hanging upside down a 1000 feet in the air. I scream and look up to see that I was in the claws of a dragon.

" Let me go you stupid dragon , I need to warn my family about the orc's!" I scream at the dragon.

" You can not go back there the orc's will be swarming it soon " I hard a voice say in my head.

" I said let me go! " I bit down on the dragons foot , it let out a roar and dropped me in a pile of hay. I climb down from the hale pile and run the rest of the wait home. When I get to the farm I notice that something is not right. The door is chopped to pieces , I push whatever is left of the door in and walk through. What I saw next was something that I was not prepared for, All my family lying dead on the sitting area floor. They had arrow coming out of their bodies. I feel bile creep up from my stomach and throat , so I rush back outside to empty my stomach on the grass. I fall to my knees and let out a sorrowful cry. Suddenly I feel a whoosh of air fall around me , I look up the see the dragon that carried me in the air. I looked closely and realized that it was my baby dragon , she had how grew up since I left her this morning. She had black scales with a touch of purple that shined when light touched them.

" I'm sorry my dear Crimson, they didn't deserve that kind of death" I heard a voice in my head .

I looked at the dragon in surprise " are you the one talking in my head?" I question the dragon .

The Dragon gave a low grunt " Yes my dear one , my name is Athena " I heard the voice in my head again.

My surprise weared off and for some reason I felt angry at Athena. " You need to leave Athena and I don't want to see you again " I shouted at her.

Athena gasped in shock that I was sending her away" I can't leave you Crimson your my rider" she said pleading.

" I am no one's rider, this is your fault if you just have left me alone I could of gotten here in time to warn them" I snapped at her.

Athena shook her head at me " No my Sweet Crimson , you wouldn't been able too and you would have died too" she whispered.

I ran up to her and tried to push the big dragon she didn't budge" I don't care what you think now leave before I make you"

Athena gave me soft snort of frustration but turned away from me " Fine if you want me to go I'll go and leave you be for now" she took off flying highly into the darkness.

Soon I couldn't see her anymore because her scales blended into the night sky.I turned back to the house and walked inside , to where my sister fawn laid dead . I rolled her over and put her head in my lap and then tears started to free fall . I hugged her to me and started to sob out loud , the pain of losing my family sets in. I don't know how long I sat there crying it could have few been a few minutes or hours. The sound of door pushing closed caught my attention. I looked towards the door to see a tall figure standing there looking at me. I jump up and back way from the figure until i felt the fire place behind me. I take the fire poker that's near by and hold in front of me as sword.

I tried to hide the quiver in voice and I could finally speak" who are you and what do you want?" The man takes down the hood that he is wearing and I instantly recognize him. He was the man for the butcher shop one I went to go get Athena food.

" My name is Strider and i'am here to protect you and your dragon. Where is your dragon ? The man named Strider asked as he look outside for Athena.

For some reason I felt that this man named Strider was not going to hurt me , so I put the poker down on the ground. " I sent her away and she is not my dragon" I explained while keeping my eyes on him. He gave me confused look before sitting on one of the chairs that were not broken.

" What do you mean that she's not your dragon ?. You found the egg and She hatch for you did she not ? " he huffed out in disbelief.

I glared at strider as if he annoyed me " Yes I found the egg and it hatch the same night , why do you care ?"

Strider got and walked up me stopping a few feet away from me " I care because you are the rider to your dragon. You found the egg , the egg hatch meaning that you are a dragon rider.

I scooted pass strider to where my sister laid And turned my back to him " I am no dragon rider I set her free, now leave me alone so I can mourn my family and Bury them in the morning." I snapped at him.

I felt Strider kneel down next to me " Crimson you are not safe here anymore, The orcs will come back for you we need to leave now". I shook my head while looking down at my beautiful sister, she looked like she was resting.

"I'm not leaving them behind until I bury them, so you might as leave me alone and go back to where you came from. As I will not go with you willingly to where you want to bring me " I telling him sobbing with my head on Fawn's chest.

" Then you give me no choice , little one " I hear him say before I feel his hand on the back of my neck and feel him putting pressure down onto my neck. My vision goes dark and I'm put into a light sleep.

Time skip

I wake up to myself laying a crossed a horse with my head and feet dangling on either side of the horse. I look up to see that strider is holding on to me while guiding the horse to our destination. Something orange flickering in the distance catches my attention , I squint to see what is was but soon realize it was my house up in flames. I try to pull myself up to only realize that my hands were tied to the horse saddle " No , no , no ... wait please stop !" I plead to Strider.

Strider shh me and ran is fingers in my hair as to comfort me " I'm sorry Crimson but we must keep on going , try to rest we have a long journey ahead of us. I felt tears running down my face but I was to tired to argue with Strider. I let the feeling of sleep take me and dropped my head against the horses belly.
