AN: I wasn't gonna post another one this weekend but I had to vent and write out my trauma. I am not shitting you, this is based on a true story from two days ago and I am traumatized now
If I get traumatized, so are you =((((
Summer Grounds Prompt 1b^2: Water (aka the bonus to the bonus fic for this weekend)
Vi's eye popped open into a glare. Her hand immediately went up to her right ear and she rubbed it to ease the itchy pain. If she had to describe it, it felt like her hair was tickling it. She then sighed before flipping around onto her right side and getting cozy. The heaviness in her eyes was beginning to ease up but just right when she was about to fall asleep, her ear itched again. Immediately frowning, she tucked her hand under the pillow this time and rubbed lightly before flipping around onto her back this time.
One of her eyes popped open this time. She looked at the alarm clock by their bedside and it was 4:03 AM. Groaning to herself quietly, she covered her eyes before mumbling a whisper. "God it's so fucking early…" Her ear itched again and she rubbed it more roughly and aggressively. "God dammit…" She tried picking at her earhole, maybe it was ear crust or a strand of hair or some shit like that. Sighing yet again, she frowned before rolling over onto her left side. This time, she made sure to flop all of her hair to the side to neatly clear her ear.
"Hah…"
Finally, sweet peace… that only lasted thirty seconds.
That damn irritating itch made Vi frown into an annoyed glare before she practically slapped her ear and rubbed it aggressively. She then sat up and proceeded to rub the hell out of her ear. She tried picking at it again, maybe something did fall into it but she didn't want to believe that a certain little something was in her ear. She ended up smacking her head as if she had gotten water inside her ear. That was when she accidentally woke up her girlfriend.
"Mmh… Vi…? What is wrong…?" Caitlyn mumbled in a groggy voice as she shifted slightly.
Vi continued to rub her ear as she looked down at Caitlyn. "It's nothing Cait, my ear is just itchy that's all."
Caitlyn took in a soft breath before nuzzling in closer against Vi's side. "Mmh… Are you okay…? What does the itch feel like…?" She yawned this time before trying to open her eyes.
Grumbling to herself, Vi shook her head slightly. "Like hair is tickling my ear."
Humming softly at her comment, Caitlyn grabbed a hold of Vi's hand before kissing the back of her fingers softly. She then kissed her knuckle before pushing herself up and sitting next to Vi. "Here, let me see…" She then scooched around to take a look at Vi's ear.
Giving in to Caitlyn's help, Vi shut her eyes with a tired groan. Her girlfriend proceeded to touch her face, carefully looking at her ear. After a second, she let out a soft breath before suggesting, "I do not see anything… did you want to try to flush it out?"
Flush it out. That would mean that would confirm whatever she feared that could be in her ear was true or not. But then again, honestly, Vi didn't mind trying because the itching was seriously fucking ridiculous and annoying. She sighed before rubbing her eyes and nodding. "Yeah sure, why not."
"Alright," Caitlyn proceeded to slide out of bed, holding onto Vi's hand before letting go. "Head over to the bathroom, I will be right there."
"Okay…" Vi finally got out of bed, grumbling the entire time, as she made it over to the bathroom. She flipped the light switch before waiting for her girlfriend to come.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn was just out the door, putting together a 1:1 ratio of water and rubbing alcohol into a cup. Once that was put together, she swirled the contents in the cup around before heading into the bathroom. She looked far more alert now compared to Vi and if anything, it looked like she was about to work a shift at the hospital. On the other hand, Vi was still tired as shit but obviously in awe and secretly enjoying how sexy Caitlyn looked as she did her thing.
"Alright, come here."
Complying with her lovely doctor, Vi tilted her head to the left. Caitlyn was quick to pull her in, giving Vi a casual show of her chest, before pulling all of her hair to the side. She then swirled the liquid in her cup around a little more before pouring a small amount into her ear. After a second, she then gently tilted Vi over the sink, allowing the water to drip out. Vi had a blank face the entire as she watched the water run down into the sink before something fell out. Her face immediately scrunched inward as her eyes shot open.
Horror took over as she watched that little fucking devil that just fell out of her fucking ear.
A. God. Damn. Fucking. Small. Spider. Just. FELL. Out.
As much as Vi wanted to scream and shriek, her hand quickly reached out to that cup Caitlyn was holding. She was quick to pour the rest of its content onto that little fucking shit before watching slide down into the sinkhole. After the cup was empty, she immediately turned the faucet on, drowning that son of a bitch, before holding in a whimper. Once she was done burying that little fucker in its grave, Vi slowly turned to face Caitlyn.
Caitlyn just blinked with a neutral face as if that wasn't out of the ordinary.
To be fair, this was probably nothing compared to the shit she saw at the hospital but still. Vi didn't want to believe it as she cupped her face and started fake crying. "Please don't tell me a baby fucking spider just fell out of my ear Cupcake."
Pursing her lips, Caitlyn pulled Vi into her chest before looking down at the sink. "Umm… would you like me to lie?"
Vi's fake sobbing grew louder as she recalled its tiny squiggly arms moving around before she destroyed that sucker in the sink. "Tell me there wasn't a spider in my ear!" She sobbed out more pitifully before pulling Caitlyn into a hug.
Caitlyn started patting her back comfortably. "Well, if it makes you feel better, humans on average swallow about four spiders on average a year."
"I would rather swallow it in my sleep than get it in my ear!" She cried back with much oomph. "I wouldn't feel it then or get traumatized!" She started sobbing again, "I knew I should've killed that spider I saw in the shower! I was too lazy to kill it so I let it go but no. Not anymore, I'm killing them all."
Snorting at her proclamation, Caitlyn leaned down to kiss the back of Vi's head. "There there, darling, let us go back to bed now shall we? It is still early."
Vi faked some more sobs before drying her ear with a small pink towel. "Okay…" She then walked this defeated walk back to their bed before thoroughly checking their covers and her pillow thanks to her newfound paranoia. "How am I supposed to sleep now…"
Smiling softly, Caitlyn climbed onto their bed first before pulling her down and into a hug. "Hey hey, it is okay. You are alright."
"But— but— out of all fucking chances— how—" She covered her ears and curled inward. "I'm traumatized."
Caitlyn started feathering kisses on her head. "I have you darling, you are okay." She then brought up her hands and cupped both of Vi's ears. "You have a long day tomorrow, try to sleep Violet."
Whimpering sadly, Vi latched onto Caitlyn and hugged her desperately. "I don't know if I can." She thought back to the spider in her ear even though she was consciously trying not to think about it. "It was like the size of a fucking soybean— no! The size of an Advil pill, Cait, an Advil pill!"
"Shh shh shh…" Caitlyn softly hushed before peppering kisses all over her face. "You are alright darling."
"But— but—"
Shushing her girlfriend again, Caitlyn tucked Vi's sweet and adorable head under her chin. "Violet, just think about me." She started rubbing the side of Vi's cheek with her thumb. "I will protect your cute earholes."
Whining a muffled whine, Vi finally hugged Caitlyn even tighter. "O-Okay…"
"Sleep tight darling."
"N-Night…"
It wasn't much of a surprise but Caitlyn fell asleep before Vi, leaving her girlfriend in a somewhat cozy yet paranoid and traumatized state. Vi did have to admit though, being tucked in Caitlyn's arms made her feel safe, and the way her hands were still covering her ears helped. Still, it took her a while for her to fall back asleep but eventually, her eyes popped open. Caitlyn wasn't by her side anymore but there was a note. A cute note that brought a smile to her face and a cup of coffee that was still steaming, meaning, Caitlyn hadn't been gone for long. Her side of the bed was still a little bit warm and Vi stretched out tall before remembering her trauma.
Right.
She bolted out of bed quicker than lighting before rushing to the bathroom. There, she stared at the sinkhole, eyebrows twitching before she looked at her reflection. She looked like shit. Her eyes were bloodshot and she felt like shit. To think she went to bed later than usual last night and thanks to her morning trauma, she slept for a total of four or five sparse hours compared to her usual seven or eight. Topped off with a long photoshoot session today (at the studio as a favor for a friend), she was going to suffer.
"Fuck my life…"
Vi shivered before rubbing her ear. It didn't feel the same, there was this lingering ghost sensation in it and she hated it. She refused to imagine the whole mess again. Unsuriprinsly enough, her day carried on as if nothing happened, as if nothing was in her ear a few short hours ago. What made her day even better was when her lighting equipment malfunctioned. She managed to work around that issue with her quick thinking but then her laptop had to go and break down, delaying her work process. It was a shit show but thankfully, her client and she laughed it off and had a successful shoot.
She ended up getting home late, just about 1:00 AM, and when she set foot inside, she expected Caitlyn to be home however she wasn't. An eyebrow went up and just when she thought it was weird why she didn't send a text or call her, she found out her phone was dead. That checks out. She swiftly plugged it in to charge before putting away her equipment. When she was done, she checked up on her phone and confirmed Caitlyn was going to stay the night at the hospital tonight.
That made her sad.
She set back a text before slowly looking at the emptiness in their home and glaring at the spaciousness. "You're all dead…" She cracked her knuckles before whipping out a bug-killing spray and towels. She didn't work the next day so one could bet their assess that Vi was going to clean this house from top to bottom. Caitlyn would kill her if she burned down their home so she'd make do with a cleaning spree.
Sleep? Hah!
Vi didn't know her.
The spiders on the other hand… were about to get to know Vi close and personal.
