A small boat arrives at Yharnam via the slopes near Hemwick. Its young occupant climbs the steep slope without much apparent effort, finally reaching the broken bridge that connected the place to Cainhurst Castle, unknown to the young man who knew nothing of its history, only that it was a beautiful castle in the distance. Arriving in a seemingly desolate place was purposeful. Since before he could walk, most of the people around him were not very friendly. He was even denied passage on a ship, even if he could pay for it, so he built a small boat on his own and rowed alone to Yharnam.

He was there to solve some mysteries of his life. Ever since he was little, he had been unable to speak, for he knew only one unknown language, and could speak no other, though he could understand. And speak his native tongue usually had unpredictable effects, so he preferred to keep silent. However, he also had a curious gift for manipulating blood, and that was how he communicated. He carried a small frame, made with a technology similar to Trick Weapons, whose frames retracted and snapped into a small bar that he clipped to his belt. In one of the compartments of the bandoliers, he kept a rolled-up canvas, which could easily be stretched over the frame. When the canvas was ready, he would open a small iron flask on his belt that contained blood, and manipulate it to form letters on the canvas. And although people were familiar with Blood Healing and other uses for blood, since news of Yharnam had reached them, the combination of this strange power, the boy's mysterious language and unknown origin, made people prefer to keep their distance. Some of the townsfolk remarked that while bathed by the full moon's pale light, his light blue eyes exhibited a ghostly radiance, which added to the fear.

Dreams had revealed the city of Yharnam to him, and the image of the city has drawn him ever since. Perhaps there, he would find meaning. He went on his way, soon having to fend off aggressive, deformed, sickly-looking dogs and Executioners. The boy avoided being surrounded by the dogs and calmly killed them. He had to dodge lethal axe blows from the Executioners, but managed to defeat some, and left others behind. For the hunt, he carried the elegant Chikage, the sword that drains the user's blood for devastating blows.

Passing the bodies of the creatures, he pulled the lever that opened a large gate, which would allow him to advance through Hemwick until he reached the Grand Cathedral, connected to Hemwick by a path on his right. He got there after facing the crazed women of Hemwick, who were not so dangerous alone, but were when in group.

Finally, he had reached the most important place in Yharnam: The Healing Church. There were experts in blood, and certainly connoisseurs of mysteries. He imagined that an analysis of his blood would explain the strange powers he possessed. But on the streets, there were only Servants of the Church, hitting their scepters on the ground with an intimidating sound and carrying their lamps of purplish light, highlighting their pale, ghostly faces; a few Chapel Giants, similar to the Servants but gigantic, with strength relative with their size. The Servants guarding the entrance to the Great Cathedral were dressed in black and carried huge crosses. With no choice but to confront them, the boy had more trouble facing two strong enemies as such. A blow from the crosses that hit him on the head, caused strange auditory and visual hallucinations, which did not get worse because he managed to avoid the rest and defeat the two Servants. He recovered completely within a few minutes. That was one of his strange abilities: to heal himself completely, as long as his body had time to rest. Moving on, he saw that the Grand Cathedral was empty, so he returned and followed the stairs towards the Cathedral Ward, facing several Church Servants along the way, this time armed with scythes, Repeating Pistols and Flamethrowers. With some care and difficulty, he reached the base of the staircase, which led up to two gates. The one on the left led directly to Oedon Chapel, but it was jammed. He even tried to kick the lever, but all he got was an intense pain in his big toe. He had to take the long way around the district, filled with Chapel Giants and Servants with flamethrowers, as well as bloated Carrion Crows that could barely fly from all the corpses they devoured. After fighting them all, he reached Oedon Chapel, not without burns, cuts and lacerations, so he eventually stopped at the tree near the tombstones, intending to rest. However, a few seconds later, he was lifted into the air by an invisible force, until he stopped a few meters above the tree. Startled and trying to understand what was happening, he saw a soft oval translucent outline in front of him, just seconds before he lost consciousness…
