If We Were A Movie
A/N: This is an idol/celebrity AU SongFic inspired by the Hannah Montana song "If We Were a Movie."
"Well, I know my new movie will be a hit, cause all of my albums were." Sakura heard from the TV. She was watching the latest interview with Sasuke Uchiha, resident bad boy, a member of the world's biggest J-pop boy band Tsunami, and her childhood best friend/crush. She rolled her eyes and grabbed the remote. Sakura was about change the channel when she heard the interviewer ask "The movie is about reuniting with a childhood love. What or who inspired you to play the role?" This should be good. Sauske's biggest inspiration in life was always himself, or the mysterious disappearance of his older brother. "I think it was my own childhood. The town and characters reminded me of the village I grew up in." Sasuke said his signature smirk plastered across his face. At least it was less self-centered than his typical answers, Sakura thought as she pressed the button on the remote.
Uh oh, there you again talkin cinematic
Yeah, you,
You're charming, got everybody star struck
I know how you always seem to go
For the obvious
Instead of me
But get a ticket and you'll see
Sakura sighed as the credits rolled. Silent tears rolled down her cheeks as she thought about the movie she and Ino just finished. It was a romance about two teens with cancer, and the main character died in the end. She thought they were lucky that they experienced that kind of love. Ino's voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Why do always cry when we watch romance movies, even if they are happy?"
"Because it makes me think about how I'll never have that. I've confessed to Sasuke twice now and he hasn't said anything. Those characters remind me that I'll just end up alone with my cat." Sakura replies
"Forehead, you'll get your chance to be the star of your own rom-com one day, just wait and see." Ino was just trying to make her feel better, but Sakura knew there wasn't any hope for her and Sasuke.
If we were a movie,
You'd be the right guy.
And I'd be the best friend
That you'd fall in love with in the end.
We'd be laughing

Sakura arrived at her office just in time to hear the phone ring. As one of the most promising medical residents at Konoha Central Hospital, she often got calls about patients at other hospitals. She was also the only student in her year to be specializing in pediatric psychiatry. Sakura answered the phone.
"Dr. Sakura Haruno, Konoha Central."
"Sakura." Sasuke's smooth voice said on the other line. Great just the person she wanted to talk to.
"What do you want?" She asked
"I am letting you I can't come to your birthday party this weekend anymore. I promised Karin I'd be her date for the premiere of her new drama."
"I see. I should be mad since you promised to come to my party too. But honestly, I'm used to you bailing at this point."
"Sakura don't be like that. Karin is my girlfriend, I have to make time for her. She's a great person, I think the two of you would get along."
"Oh yes Sasuke-kun I'd love to meet her someday. Please bring her over next time you are in town."
"Thank you for understanding Sakura."
"Yeah, bye."
She hung up the phone and took a breath to try and stop the tears from falling. Sakura never wanted to meet Karin. It would be pure torture to see Sasuke in the arms of another woman. But she was his best friend. She had to pretend to be happy for him, right?
Yeah yeah, when you call me I can hear it in your voice
Oh sure, want to see me and tell me about her
La, la I'll be acting through my tears
I guess you'll never know
That I should win
An Oscar for the scene I'm in.
The work week came and went in a blur. Sakura had busied herself with work to forget about everything with Sasuke. Friday was here and she was going to enjoy her birthday, weekend with or without Sasuke. She walked down the cobblestone streets of Konoha's downtown, on her way home from the hospital. Ahead she spotted Naruto and his wife Hinata. Naruto was one of her best friends, they'd known each other since middle school. Hinata went to the same University as they had, and she and Naruto were college sweethearts. They'd gotten married earlier in the year in a beautiful ceremony. Sakura watched the couple walk down the street hand in hand. Naruto was talking animatedly and Hinata was giggling, both were looking at each other with soft eyes. They had everything Sakura wanted with Sasuke but knew she'd never have.

Sakura's birthday party was nearly perfect. It was being held at Ichiraku Ramen, a shop she and her friends frequented in childhood. Nearly all of her friends had come out, and Naruto had rented out the place for the evening. Sakura smiled as she watched her loved ones enjoy the party. Naruto, Hinata, and Choji were having a ramen eating contest, while Kiba snuck some pork for his service dog Akamaru. Lee and TenTen were in a corner booth taking shots of Sake and talking to the portrait of Neji, a friend who passed away in an accident last year. Sai, Ino, Shikamaru, and Temari were playing some sort of drinking game at another table. Sakura's attending and role model Tsunade and her PA Shizune were enjoying the cake and Kakashi sensei was in the corner reading. Kakashi sensei was her 6th-grade teacher. Naruto and Sasuke were in her study group, which is how they all met. She was having fun, but she wished Sasuke was here.
Wish I could tell you there's a twist
Some kind of hero in disguise
And we're together
It's for real now playing
Wish I could tell you there's a kiss
Like something more than in my mind
I see it could be amazing
The party had ended and Sakura was splayed on her couch. She grabbed the remote and turned on the premiere for Karin's drama. She wanted to see Sasuke on her birthday, even if it was only on TV. She hummed along to the background music as some of the other actors in the drama walked down the red carpet. Sakura braced herself when Karin's name was announced. Karin appeared on the screen, she looked amazing in a dress of gold. But Sasuke wasn't with her. Instead, another idol, Sugetsu had his arm latched with Karin's. Sakura's stomach dropped. Why was Karin at the premiere with another guy? Where was Sasuke? She felt the tiredness and tears come. Sakura fell asleep, dreaming of the night in high school when she and Sasuke watched the sunset from Hokage Mountain.

Sakura woke to the sound of someone banging on her door. She looked at the tv screensaver and read the time. 2 am. Why the heck was someone trying to bang on her door at two in the morning? Sakura got up and walked over to the door, peeking through the window to glimpse who was on the other side. It was Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke Fucking Uchiha. Sakura opened the door. Sasuke was soaked, his hair plastered to his face and eyes darker than she remembered. "Sakura." He breathed when she opened the door. "Sasuke-kun." It was as if they were back in high school and he was stopping by after a party. Sakura let him in and lit a couple of candles to offer some light. They made their way to the sofa and Sasuke tossed his jacket over the chair. "I assume you saw the premiere." He said in a way that made Sakura think he wasn't broken. "Yes. You were notably absent." Sakura replied, really too tired to discuss the subject now. "Karin cheated on me. With my band member." He says sinking lower into the couch. "Oh, I'm sorry." She replied handing him a bottle of water and settling into the couch. "It sucks but it made me realize why none of my romantic relationships ever work out." He says taking a sip of the water. "Why is that?" Sakura asks, expecting some stupid thing about how he was perfect and no one could be as perfect as him. "Because none of them were you. I'm always comparing my girlfriends to you. I've been an idiot, Sakura. It's taken me the better part of 10 years to realize that I'm in love with you."
Sakura thinks she is going to pass out. In the 10 years they've known each other, Sakura has confessed twice. She even offered to move to Tokyo with him, so he could pursue music. Sasuke has never replied to her confessions before. She stared at him for a few minutes before flinging herself into his arms. "I love you too Sasuke." She replies and captures his lips. And maybe it wasn't the ending she was expecting, and maybe it wasn't rom-com worthy. But it was the perfect ending to their romcom, to her and Sasuke's movie.
