A few last-minute things to check for the arena:
- Checked calculations on the pedestals, and they need to be at least another foot further from the Cornucopia so that tributes cannot leap there once the pedestals disappear. Need to make sure every tribute is using jetpack or falls, nothing in between
- Double check the cloud density calculations. I know they've been checked a million times but do it again. If tributes start falling through when they shouldn't we are fucked.
- Likewise, if the platforms become visible through the clouds, the magic is ruined. The clouds need to appear as though they are clouds.
- Make sure we don't have any storm clouds to start out. Save them for arena events
- Check that solar panels on cameras are functional. Once the tributes are in there we cannot fix them as we normally would
- Ask Vicenzia if muttation talons can be any sharper
- Fuel needs to be salvageable outside of the Cornucopia to keep things interesting. Add at least one more cache
- Tell Blaise to add more sunscreen to the Cornucopia supplies to keep tributes from being too unsightly, at least towards the beginning
- If a tribute falls from the platforms and lands in the net- which will be obscured from tributes, who will just see an abyss- they are considered eliminated, and will be disposed of IMMEDIATELY. If the fall into the net was enough to kill them, they'd go through the net and that would be too much to clean up, let alone enough to send home. We will review protocol with disposal team again before the Games begin.
Overall, I am very pleased with how the design has turned out. We have never done a Games in the sky before, and this will get the Capitol extra excited for the Quell. I want every shot to be visually stunning.
Notes for camera operators:
- Every camera is airborne and out of tributes' reach. That said, the cloud platforms are at varying altitudes, so the lower cameras are always at risk of being taken out on accident. That said, we should not have another Katratzi situation. Cameras are also waterproof, as there will be plenty of rain and storms.
- The arena is entirely made up of cloud platforms, but some are much bigger than others. The platforms also rotate clockwise around the Cornucopia as the wind "moves" them. However, the cameras will not be moving. Make adjustments as the angles change.
- Muttations will be outfitted with cameras. We will inform you ahead of time when those are being launched and who is monitoring those feeds
- Tributes' main form of movement from platform to platform is going to be jetpack. You're going to have your work cut out for you keeping track of them, but it is vital that there is always a camera on someone. Tributes will be relying on sponsorships more than ever in order to acquire fuel. They have to be seen on camera in order to stay relevant.
- Wide shots are your friend. The arena is beautiful. I want every sunrise and sunset captured on the best quality film we have. We will be doing our best to push tribute interactions during golden hour. I want perfect lighting.
- Shaky cam is encouraged for storm events, but don't go overboard. We need to still be able to see what is happening
