CHAPTER II: MONSTER WITHIN

As Sankira's reputation and prowess kept growing, the eyes of some of Konoha's most powerful shinobi fell upon him. Kakashi Hatake, renowned as the "Copy Ninja," recognized Sankira's potential and saw shades of his former student, Sasuke, in him. The Dark Hokage himself, Sasuke Uchiha, had been covertly observing Sankira's progress since his adoption, unable to shake the nagging suspicion that there was more to this young prodigy than met the eye. Over time, the seed of doubt grew within Sasuke's mind. Although he couldn't ascertain Sankira's true identity due to the protective jutsu he had cast, he couldn't help but feel a profound connection with the boy.

Sankira's abilities, particularly his mastery of all five elemental affinities, garnered the attention and respect of his teachers at the Ninja Academy. Many believed he could become the next Leaf genius, following in the footsteps of his adoptive grandfather Minato Namikaze and his uncle, Itachi Uchiha. Furthermore, Sankira had experienced glimpses of awakening the heirloom Sharingan, clearly indicating his Uchiha lineage. One such instance occurred when he unleashed an intense show of power to defend his beloved sister Himawari against a bully. The tenacity and raw potential displayed at that moment left Sankira and those who witnessed it in awe.

However, there was an underlying darkness that haunted Sankira's journey. The presence of the ancient and malevolent Ten-Tails grew stronger as he honed his shinobi skills. The monster reveled in Sankira's progress, seeing it as an opportunity for chaos and destruction. The young Uzumaki suffered from excruciating headaches and stomach pains caused by the torment inflicted by the Ten-Tails. There were rare occasions when the monster would take control, causing Sankira to fade away momentarily. One such instance occurred when he passed out right in the presence of his brother, Boruto. These instances revealed a glimpse of the darkness that Sankira unwarily harbored.

The origins of Sankira's torment remained in mystery, leaving him grasping for answers. However, an unexpected source would soon shed light on the truth.
