Okay, I think I'm really starting to get the hang of these now! Thanks for the tips on the last one, I'll be sure to edit that like you said, Jacin. I'm gonna try really hard with this one because it's so exciting. Definitely one of my favorite moments from this year! I know you'll make me delete this later but I just wanted you to know.
Anyway, this footage is from the sixth day of the Games. It starts at the Cornucopia, and the sun has just gone down, but it's not dark yet. I think dusk is the word for that? Katsuo (D1) and Amar (D1) are the only ones there. They're in the castle courtyard, and Amar is laughing really hard at something that must've happened right before the video started. Katsuo is trying really hard to not smile but I can tell he wants to. By the way, I saw a supercut of all of Amar's jokes and funny moments in the arena yesterday, and it was REALLY good. If you're ever feeling down you should totally watch it.
So that's happening, and then all the others- Tanith and Zayan from D2 and Kamari and Venezio from D4- get back at the same time. Venezio calls out to Katsuo and Amar, and Amar replies cheerfully. Katsuo ignores him. Venezio starts to fly over the wall to meet them in the courtyard, Tanith right behind him, and Zayan and Kamari start sneaking around to the other entrance.
Amar raises an eyebrow when she sees them, but keeps her eyes on Venezio. "Where's Kamari?" she asks, very innocently.
"Out with Zayan, I presume," he answers. He lands in front of her. Tanith lands behind him.
"Odd," Amar says. "I could've sworn she left with you."
"That was yesterday," Tanith says.
Katsuo is standing a few steps behind Amar and to the left. He frowns. "No, that was today."
I still don't know how Amar knew he was coming. But before they can ask any more questions, Zayan charges through the back gate, right at Katsuo. Katsuo turns, caught off guard. Zayan is considerably bigger than him, and has the jump on him, and has his weapon out. It looks like Katsuo is doomed. But Amar grabs one of her two axes and absolutely chucks it at him, nailing him right in the chest. He falls to his knees. This gives Katsuo enough time to step off to the side- stepping isn't the right word for it, actually, because it's almost like he's dancing- and throw some stars at Kamari, who comes running in after Zayan. One misses and another lands in her arm, and she screams.
Amar kicks Venezio in the chest and dodges Tanith's incoming mace. Katsuo turns to look at Amar, and he has this weird look on his face. He seems less surprised by what just happened, somehow, and more surprised by Amar's reaction. Kamari comes at him with her spear, and he dances out of the way again. "The supplies," he shouts to Amar. He reaches over and lobs a throwing star into Tanith's shoulder, which she does not appreciate.
"I know," she shouts back. Venezio has fallen back a few paces, preparing an arrow, and she slashes Tanith with her other ax. "Go!"
He listens to her, and lunges toward the room where they've been hiding their stuff, but Kamari sees it coming and stabs at him with her spear. He twists out of the way, slamming his jetpack controls to give him some height, but it's not enough- she gets him right in the calf, and it goes in really deep. He uses his momentum to spin around and kick her in the side of the head with his uninjured leg, and she collapses. Before she can get up, he pulls a dagger and deactivates the jetpack, falling on top of her with the weapon out. He stabs her in the chest and slashes her throat, and her cannon immediately fires.
Katsuo gets up, and immediately has to dodge an arrow from Venezio. Zayan is laying on the ground, and there's blood everywhere. He's not moving very much, and the ax is still buried in his chest. Katsuo runs toward their stash of stuff, and Venezio manages to get an arrow right in his calf, where Kamari got him earlier. He doesn't cry out- instead, he goes white as a sheet and turns his jetpack on again so he doesn't have to run on the leg.
Meanwhile, Amar is yelling at Tanith and Venezio, slowly falling back to meet up with Katsuo. "Why?" she shouts. "Why did you do this?"
Tanith tries to smack her with the mace again, but Amar dodges it. "You're fucking serious?" she asks. "Like you and Katsuo weren't gonna split off first? The two goddamn BFFs?"
I think Amar almost smiles when she hears that, but another arrow from Venezio forces her to sprint back. Tanith gives chase, and Amar runs in to find Katsuo pulling a bag onto his shoulder. There's an arrow sticking out of his leg still.
She slams the door shut behind her, and Katsuo throws the other bag at her. "Here."
"Holy shit, your leg-"
"Are they behind you?"
"Yeah."
"Can we get through the window?" he asks.
Amar answers by running to the window and smashing through it with her fancy ax. She puts her hands together and says, "C'mon, I'll boost you!"
"I don't need-" Katsuo starts, but then a mace starts splintering through the door and he decides better of it. He lets Amar boost his good leg, activating his jetpack again as he escapes, and then pulls Amar out from the other side. Then they fly off as fast as they can, and that's when another cannon goes off.
The footage cuts back to Tanith and Venezio, who are arguing again. Kamari and Zayan are both dead on the ground behind them, but they don't seem to care much about that. Then the footage ends.
