Currently, in the Blue Room inside the Crystal Palace, Chibiusa, her sister Jewel, and their mermaid friend Princess Orca were gathered to discuss a book they'd recently read. It was called "Island of the Aunts" by Eva Ibbotson. Like many books, the covers differed from whenever the book was reprinted. This one looked very cartoony, with the children Minette and Fabio surrounded by the mythical creatures who resided on the titular Island.
It'd been Orca's choice to read the book. Even if it was a children's book and they were in their teens, it still was appealing to older readers if they liked the fantasy/adventure genre. "So I think I should start the conversation if that's all right with you two?" Orca asked as she bobbed in the enchanted water.
"It's not a problem, Orca. Also, as you're the guest here, you should go first," the pink-haired crown princess replied.
Her redhead sister also nodded. "I've no problem with you going first. Again, you're the one who suggested this delightful book. So please tell us your thoughts."
"Well, first off, I want to confirm that all the creatures in the book are real. You're looking at a mermaid, so you know those are real!" she laughed, and her fellow princess joined her.
"Have you ever met selkies or a Stoorworm?" questioned Jewel. She was referring to a magical seal that could transform into a human. The Stoorworm was a wingless water dragon who talked slowly due to its length.
"I've not seen a Stoorworm myself. However, my grandmother Queen Oceania did meet one when she took a trip to Iceland once. So, yes, I can confirm that they exist. As for the selkies? We get along, but we've not had contact for a century. We wonder why they stopped visiting. We assumed it might be concerning poachers, and they fled. Mother meant to bring it up to Neo Queen Serenity but hasn't found the time."
"I'll inform my mother to investigate all formerly mythical creatures. After all, we've dealt with Skinwalkers and Wendigo. So we know that all the mythical creatures are real," Chibiusa replied to the pretty mermaid.
"Thank you. Now, what would you like to talk about regarding the book?" Orca questioned.
"The Aunts themselves are a very unusual bunch. They all have their little quirks. Etta has that mustache and insists on exercising every morning. Or the fact she's got the same color underwear for every day of the month," Jewel pointed out.
"I liked Coral the best due to her artistic talents. She's so creative, and even her clothes make her stand out. I love creative people, and though I'm not into fashion, it's nice to see someone stand out," Chibiusa replied.
"Well, Myrtle is very childish and is more or less in love with Herbert the Selkie. We can tell from how she speaks of him or plays him music on her cello. But again, she's quite sensitive and childish," Orca pointed out.
"I find it amusing that Dorthy is in prison in Hong Kong for hitting a restaurant owner on the head. And not let us forget the idiot sister Betty with her two idiotic children!" Chibiusa reminded them.
"Yes, when we meet Betty and her family, it is obvious why her sisters view her as an idiot and how stupid her children are. Yet, the aunts' father is an amusing man. He may be over a hundred but has plenty of good stories to tell," pointed out Jewel.
"We should address the children's characters, Minette and Fabio. Let's forget altogether that awful brat Lambert!" Orca pleaded.
"I feel bad for both children. They've such nasty and abusive families. Minette's parents are selfish, abusive, controlling, and don't love her the way parents should," Chibiusa pointed out.
"Well, I suppose you know that best," Jewel whispered. She hoped no one heard her referring to when Chibiusa became Black Lady due to thinking she was unloved.
"Fabio has to go to that horrid school; his stingy grandparents are the worst! The way they treated him for being from Brazil and who his mother is!" Orca responded angrily.
"Yep, it's like Aunt Etta said, "Some kids just need to be kidnapped to escape toxic situations," Jewel said.
"It's amazing how hard work and making friends can help people grow as a person. They have forgotten their troubles and become their true selves on the Island." Chibiusa pointed out.
"Again, let's skip over the antagonist since he's a greedy, selfish businessman. We've had enough of those!" Orca requested.
"Well, I'm personally glad they're helped to help the baby Kraken and that the aunts were found not guilty of the crime," Jewel pointed out.
"I'll add I find the illustrations amusing," Chibiusa revealed happily.
"Overall, I find it a good book. It's got a bit of everything. Friendship, fantasy, adventure, family, humor, and character development. It is indeed an amazing book!" Orca exclaimed happily.
"I've heard this particular author written many wonderful books. Perhaps we should read more of her work later, do you agree, sis?" Chibiusa asked her sister.
"Yep, I do. Now can we all go for a nice swim together? It's ninety-plus degrees outside. So can we join you for a swim, Orca?" Jewel request.
"Jump right in!" the blond mermaid replied eagerly. Soon, the three princesses were having a splashing good time.
