The finale! It's the finale!
So just like the last video, this footage is a few clips put together. I'll go through them one by one in order, I think. So here we go!
In the first one, the storm clouds have been pulled into their two levels overnight. One level forms the ground, and the other fills the sky overhead. And dang, that storm is going! There's lots of thunder, and the cloud-ground-surface-thing is rumbling and shifting as thunder booms. There's a few bolts of lightning, too, both from the clouds above and in the cloud-ground-surface-thing. The only person in this clip is Katsuo (D1). He's using his jetpack to fly through the storm. He's heading straight for the Cornucopia, which makes sense, since a lot of finales tend to happen there. He's got his katana that he took from Misha (D5) out, too.
Honestly, I think that katana might be what saves him here. Because when the lightning hits him, it hits the katana first. The lightning hits the katana and travels through him, and he screams. The lightning goes through his jetpack, too, which makes it short-circuit. Katsuo starts falling and crash-lands on the clouds. He lays still for a long time, but his cannon doesn't fire.
Eventually, his eyes open again. Gradually, he sits up with a groan, looking himself over, and he's a mess. His katana is gone. The arm he was holding it in is covered in burns, and a bunch of his sleeve has burned away. The pattern of the burns is sort of pretty, though. He touches his chest really carefully, and he's still breathing heavily. His right leg- the one with the stab wound in it- is bleeding again, and his right foot is pointing the wrong way. He looks really, really out of it. He's not dead, but he probably should be.
Then the footage cuts to the second clip! I think this one takes place a little bit before Katsuo gets zapped. In this one, Angus (D10) has just stabbed Anadil (D8) with a katana. I'm pretty sure this katana is the one that matches the one Misha (D5) had that Katsuo (D1) took from him, since those two were allies. Anadil is crying a lot, which combined with the sunburns has made her face all blotchy and red, and she's trying to fend him off, but he's way bigger than her and she's the youngest one left. Finally, he stabs the katana into her heart, and her cannon immediately fires.
"Anadil!" someone screams. Angus turns around to see Hadassa (D7) running toward them. The clouds are thundering, which is making it hard for her to run without falling. "Anadil!"
Angus turns towards her and holds the katana out. His face is very serious. I always thought he was handsome. Short, blond hair, freckles, blue eyes.
"How could you do that!" Hadassa screams at him. "She was a kid! She wouldn't hurt anyone!"
Even though Hadassa and Anadil split ways about a week ago, it's clear that Hadassa was still fond of the younger girl. She keeps looking away from Angus to look at Anadil. The puddle of blood around her is growing very quickly, partly because it's still raining a lot. The look on Hadassa's face is really heartbreaking. I remember crying the first time I watched this.
"I had to," Angus says. "You know that."
Hadassa pulls out her own weapon, a longsword, and points it back at him. "Then you know I have to do this."
She runs towards him, closing the gap between them, and Angus swings his katana at her. Hadassa dodges, and from there it's an all-out brawl. She's fighting dirty, and she slashes at his hands, his face, and his crotch a lot. At one point, she pretends like she's aiming for his face again, to get his arms up, and then slices him right in the stomach. He hunches over, and she takes her chance to stab his back. Angus raises his katana and blocks her, but then she hits his knee, and he starts to go down.
From there, there's not much more Angus can do. He does get a few hits in, but Hadassa's got the advantage, and she stabs him, over and over, until he stops moving. It takes longer than I would've thought, but eventually, his cannon goes off. His stomach area is an absolute mess when Hadassa finally pulls back- I can definitely see some intestines- but at least his face is okay. He really was handsome.
Hadassa stands and stares at Angus and Anadil for a while. For a short moment, she cries, and she makes sure to close Anadil's eyes, which were still staring up at the storm. When she finally turns away from them, she does so just in time to see Katsuo being zapped out of the sky. She takes a really deep breath, and then she starts heading toward him.
The third clip starts as Katsuo finally stands up. Hadassa is about a hundred feet away from him or so- it's hard to tell exactly, because the clouds keep shifting and making both of them stumble. Katsuo is having trouble with his right leg, which is both bleeding and pointed the wrong way, and he can't fly anymore. He still looks dazed, but he's present enough to grab his throwing stars. He has about half a dozen left.
As soon as Hadassa realizes she's been seen, she starts running towards him. Katsuo lists to the side and falls again, and it seems like his balance is absolutely shot. Hadassa starts sprinting and finally makes it towards him, slashing down at him. Instead of rolling, like I've seen him do a bunch, he kicks out at the sword with his good foot. Hadassa clearly wasn't expecting this, and she loses her grip on the sword.
Then Katsuo snarls, lunging for her ankles, and starts stabbing her legs with his throwing stars. Hadassa slugs him in the ear, and Katsuo looks even more out of it, but he doesn't stop. He drags the throwing stars down the backs of her legs, forcing her to meet him at ground level, where he then continues attacking her.
Fortunately for Hadassa, she's a decent fighter. Efren (D11) wasn't too difficult for her earlier in the Games. Still, if Katsuo was anywhere near his right mind right now, she'd be outmatched. Luckily for Hadassa, he's not, and I don't think he has been for a few days. She punches his eye with her right hook- the same one Amar (D1) had hit a few days earlier, giving him a black eye, and he falls back. She goes to hit him again, but he bares his teeth at her and starts clawing at her face. She starts screeching again. It's sort of weird to watch, because neither of them can stand up, but they're still absolutely going at it. They've both got blood all over them, and for a long time, it's hard to tell who's going to come out of this one alive.
The tides finally start to turn when a burst of thunder knocks Hadassa back. Katsuo leaps on top of her, pulling out another throwing star. For a second I thought he was going to do what he did to Samorn again, but this time is way worse. He yanks her mouth open with one hand, which she does bite a few times, and shoves a throwing star down her throat. She starts clawing at her throat, trying to get it out of her mouth, but he got it deep in there. While she's struggling to breathe, he keeps attacking her with his bare hands.
It takes a long time. I don't know if it's him beating her, or the weapon in her throat, but eventually she goes still. Katsuo doesn't stop hitting her, though, until the cannon goes off. The cannon seems to snap him back to reality, because his expression changes and he seems a little more alert. He pushes himself off of Hadassa, staring at her and looking sort of confused, and that's where the fourth clip ends.
The last clip starts I think… ten minutes later? Katsuo hasn't moved far from Hadassa's body. Their fight was really brutal, and it was also really loud, and Tanith (D2) was able to find them because of all the noise and how flat the terrain is. She's taking her time as she limps toward him. She still has her mace. Her blonde hair is knotty and plastered to her head and her neck, and her scowl is deeper than ever.
Katsuo manages to get to his feet again. He's swaying, though, and he doesn't look all there. His arena uniform is covered in blood again. At least the rain has smoothed down his hair again, which was standing on edge when he first got hit by the lightning.
While she's still a safe distance away, Tanith starts talking. "You're a fucking mess," she shouts to him.
He just stares at her. He doesn't respond.
"Where's your bestie?" she shouts. She keeps walking towards him. "Was pretty sad to see her go. I wanted to kill her myself."
He still doesn't respond, but I swear his hand twitches.
"Especially after she got away from me last time, you know? I wanted to settle things."
Katsuo keeps staring at her.
Tanith smiles. Her teeth are really shiny in the rain. "Killing her best friend will have to be good enough, I suppose."
Katsuo finally moves. He takes another throwing star and hurls it at her. Tanith ducks, and it goes high. She lets out a battle cry and starts limp-running toward him, and Katsuo unleashes two more throwing stars. One lands in her chest, and the other in her shoulder. Tanith screams, but the injuries only seem to make her madder. He throws again, and a throwing star lands in her stomach, right by her belly button. If I'm counting right, he only has one star left now and his dagger.
Tanith makes it to him, swinging her mace. Katsuo tries to dance out of the way like he always does, but his balance is gone and his mind isn't there and she crushes his shoulder. He screams. Tanith lunges again, expecting him to fall back, but he doesn't. Instead, he reaches forward and attacks again, grabbing her shoulders and kneeing her in the crotch. When she starts to double over, he knees her again in the face, and her nose makes a really loud cracking noise.
She howls in pain, but Katsuo isn't done. He pushes her over and falls on top of her, pulling the throwing stars he's already hit her with out of her body and slashing her torso with them. I think he forgot he had a dagger or something, but he's got a throwing star in each hand and he's almost like… digging into her with them. Tanith tries to slug him, because she's dropped her mace, but he's so far gone that he doesn't seem to notice her hitting him. Instead, he slices deeper and deeper while Tanith keeps screaming.
He doesn't stop when he breaks through the rest of the skin. He doesn't stop when Tanith stops hitting him and goes unconscious. He doesn't stop when her cannon fires. He cuts her open until he finds her ribs, and when he finds her ribs he reaches in and rips them apart so that her organs are all exposed.
Then he reaches in and pulls out her heart. He stares at it for a long time. The speakers announce that he's the Victor, but he doesn't notice. He just keeps staring at the dead heart in his hands until eventually his eyes roll back and he collapses into the cloud beside her.
The hovercraft comes to get him, and as the claw wraps around him and pulls him out of the sky, that's where the footage ends.
