Sunset kicked off her boots, ready to relax for the evening by playing a few games, before dinner. Normally, she would have seen if any of the girls wanted to do something together, but ever since they each got boyfriends, several weeks ago, they have been spending most of their time with them. While she was annoyed, she understood that they each were love struck from meeting their ideal guys. She honestly couldn't say if she met hers, she wouldn't be the same. She was distracted from her thoughts by a knock on her door.
"Who could it possibly be at this time?" Sunset mumbled as she went to her door, before shrugging and opening it.
At first she didn't see anyone and after a few seconds of looking around outside, she shrugged and was about to close the door.
"Down here, Sunset."
She looked down and was stunned to see Spike standing there.
"Spike? What are you doing here? Where's Twilight?"
"She's on another date with her special boyfriend," He spat out, cringing in disgust, before entering the apartment, "Speaking of which, that is why I am here."
"Ok. What's up?"
"I have the feeling something is not right with all of the girls' new boyfriends."
"I…" Sunset paused as she raised an eyebrow, "Aren't you being a little paranoid, Spike. They each managed to find their ideal boyfriends and we should be happy for them," She slightly scolded, before mumbling, "Even if it means they're neglecting the only member of the friend group without one."
"Don't you find it suspicious, Sunset?" Spike questioned sternly, "Think about it. What are the chances that not long after telling each other what their ideal boyfriend would be, they all ended up meeting them?"
"I… Ok, that is actually a good point, but still anything is possible. I mean with you talking and all the other magical events happening…."
"Which should make it more suspicious. How do we know if it's not some kind of magical threat? It's worth checking just to be safe. Better safe than sorry, after all!"
"Fair enough," Sunset conceded with a sigh, "I can't believe I lost a logical argument to a dog," She grumbled playfully.
"I am Twilight's dog, remember? Ever since I could talk she has been teaching me different things."
"Of course she has," Sunset teased while playfully rolling her eyes, "Ok, you convinced me. Normally, I would be against spying on my friends while on a date, but for their safety I can make an exception."
The two were hiding behind some bushes as they watched Rainbow and Cool Lightning playing a game of soccer at the town park. Like last time it was a long and intense one, before it once again ended with Cool's victory. The two couldn't hear their conversation, nor could read lips, so they could only rely on actions. After a few more games the two kissed each other goodbye, before cool lightning made his way out of the park. Spike and Sunset sneakily followed him while still hiding. They ended up following him into an empty alley. After checking to see if no one was watching, Cool lightning then changed into his Rough Country disguise, unaware of the two watching him with dropped jaws.
"Sunset, isn't that Applejack's boyfriend?" Spike asked.
"Yes, it looks like your suspicion was correct. We are dealing with a shapeshifter," Sunset grumbled as she thought long and hard, "I think Princess Twilight told me about creatures in Equestria who could do that. Changelings I believe. We are going to need her help in order to stop him," She added with a sigh, before pulling out her journal.
Twilight, we might have a bit of a problem.
A few weeks ago the others managed to find their ideal boyfriend, eh special some ponies I mean. Anyway, while normally that wouldn't be a concern, Spike, the one from this world, was suspicious and after making a good case for how unlikely it was this couldn't be a potential magical issue, we investigated it and it turns out we could be dealing with a changeling, those creatures you told me about. We could use your help.
Sunset closed her journal and let out another sigh.
"Come on. Let's go to the school portal and wait for a response, in case she wants us to meet her there."
Spike simply nodded as he followed Sunset to the school. Once there her journal glowed and she quickly opened it.
Sunset, that sounds terrible. I doubt it could be from here, I keep the portal well guarded. If it is one, then it must be from your world. I have a way to be able to expose them, if you could get here as soon as you can!
Sunset simply let out a sigh of relief, more than happy Twilight had a way to be able to help them.
"Come on. Let's go save the others," She spoke to Spike, getting a nod, before the two entered the portal to Equestria.
